We will keep improving despite GHALCA Top 4 heroics – Hearts of Oak coach

Hearts of Oak head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani believes his team is on the right path but insists there is still room for growth despite their strong showing in the 2025 GHALCA Top 4 tournament.

The Phobians ended the competition with two wins and a draw, narrowly missing out on the title due to the head-to-head rule. Their campaign, however, concluded on a high note with a commanding victory over arch-rivals Asante Kotoko.

Reflecting on the performance, Dramani said meticulous preparation was key to the win against Kotoko.

“We respect opponents’ strengths, and we play to our strengths while planning around that. There was a lot of work on Saturday to try and work through how we would deal with their long ball situations, anticipate second balls, and put pressure on their centre-backs so they can make mistakes,” he explained.

The former Black Stars assistant coach stressed that Hearts must continue to focus on the fundamentals.

“I think there is still a lot to improve, and we want to build on the basic aspects where players can meet the necessary expectations of energy, effort, and performance. These are the areas we will continue to emphasise,” Dramani added.

Hearts of Oak will now shift focus to the Democracy Cup, where they face city rivals Great Olympics at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on September 5, 2025.
