The lawyer for Asutifi North Member of Parliament, Dr. Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, has expressed gratitude to God amid the controversy surrounding his client’s alleged involvement in an attack on National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) officials at Hwidiem in the Ahafo Region.
Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Kwasi Gyamfi Boadu described the events as part of a divine plan, a test meant to ultimately reveal God’s glory in Dr. Addo’s life.
“Dr. Addo is doing well, and we thank God these things are happening,” he said. “We believe it is part of God’s plan to sometimes help us go through certain experiences so that His glory will be revealed at the end to make us great.”
The lawyer dismissed claims of inconsistencies in the account of events, asserting that such speculation comes from individuals unfamiliar with the area or incident.
“There are people on the sidelines making all sorts of comments and claiming the narrative keeps changing, but they don’t even know where the towns are or where exactly this happened,” he said. “Honourable Ebenezer Addo and Honourable Collins Dauda have both spoken about what transpired, and what they said is the absolute truth.”
Dr. Addo was arraigned on Tuesday, November 4, over allegations of obstructing a NAIMOS task force during an anti-illegal mining operation near Bronikrom–Hwidiem.
The incident reportedly involved clashes between local youth and the task force during a raid on illegal mining sites on Saturday, November 1, 2025.
The Asutifi North MP has denied instigating the violence, explaining that his intervention aimed only to calm tensions and prevent chaos. His colleague, Asutifi South MP Collins Dauda, also defended him, stating that Dr. Addo acted responsibly to restore order and protect lives.
Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin described the allegations as “worrying” but affirmed Parliament’s readiness to cooperate with ongoing investigations.
Dr. Addo’s legal team maintains that their client’s hands are clean and expressed confidence that truth and justice will prevail.
“This is a moment of faith, not fear,” the lawyer concluded. “Sometimes God allows certain things to happen so His name will be glorified in the end.”
