We sacrificed to ensure Black Stars qualify for 2026 World Cup – Dr Randy Abbey commends Management Committee members

-

Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, Dr Randy Abbey, has commended members of his team for their hard work and unity following Ghana’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The achievement marks a major turnaround after the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), a setback that led the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to dissolve the previous committee chaired by Mark Addo.

The reconstituted management team, led by Dr Abbey, includes former national team captain Stephen Appiah as Vice Chairman, alongside Samuel Aboabire, Moses Armah Parker, and Dr Richard Nsenkyire as members.

Reflecting on the journey to qualification, Dr Abbey lauded the committee’s collective effort and determination.

“I am impressed with the working relationship with my members. Everybody wants to bring something on board,” he told Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show.

“It was stressful, but we stayed together as a team and everybody put everything on board.

“We all have our respective works, but we all sacrificed to ensure the Black Stars qualify for the 2026 World Cup,” he added.

Ghana’s qualification secured the nation’s fifth appearance at the global tournament. The Black Stars will discover their group-stage opponents on December 5.
