Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has underlined the importance of securing all three points when his side face Berekum Chelsea in the Ghana Premier League.
The Porcupine Warriors welcome Chelsea to the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, January 11, in their Matchday 18 fixture, with Zito making it clear that history must not become a mental obstacle for his players.
Speaking to the club’s media ahead of the encounter, the Kotoko coach dismissed talk of past records and long winless runs, insisting that such narratives should not influence his team’s approach.
“The same thing was said when we were to play them, they said for 15 years this and that, this and that, but we were able to overcome that and then we won,” he told AKSC TV
With Chelsea now visiting Kumasi, Zito says his focus is firmly on victory.
“So now that they are coming to our place, there’s no two ways about it. We have to do everything possible to win this game. It’s very, very important to me,” Zito added.
The game is scheduled to kick off at 15:30 GMT.
