A fuel tanker caught fire on the Koforidua–Mamfe road on Wednesday, causing heavy traffic and panic among motorists.
According to Accra-based UTV, the tanker was heading towards Koforidua when the incident occurred.
The tanker driver and his mate sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ghana Police Service quickly responded to the scene and successfully brought the blaze under control.
The fire caused significant traffic disruptions along the stretch, prompting authorities to create a diversion for motorists travelling to and from Accra.
Reports indicate that parts of a nearby cemetery were affected, but no residential buildings were damaged, as houses in the area are situated some distance from the road.
