A tricycle rider has died in a horrific accident at the Achimota overhead after a speeding Mercedes Benz rammed into his parked vehicle.
Eyewitnesses said the Benz was heading from the Achimota direction towards Lapaz when the driver lost control and crashed into the stationary tricycle, killing the rider instantly.
Reports indicate that the deceased was taking a nap inside his tricycle, which was parked along the shoulder of the road.
The impact of the crash mangled both vehicles beyond recognition.
Police officers and emergency services arrived at the scene shortly after to convey the body to the morgue and tow the damaged vehicles away, as heavy traffic built up along the stretch.
Meanwhile, the Benz driver, who sustained critical injuries, has been transported to the hospital.
Authorities have since launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.
