Thomas Partey adapting to life in La Liga after Villarreal move

Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey says he is gradually settling into life in La Liga following his summer return to Spain.

The 32-year-old rejoined Spanish football in July after leaving Arsenal, signing a two-year contract with Villarreal after the Premier League side opted not to renew his deal.

Speaking to Sporty TV after Villarreal’s 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid on September 13, Partey admitted the transition has been challenging but remains optimistic.

“I’m now getting back [adapting to La Liga]. It is a different team, style of play is different, and I think with time I’ll get used to it and I’ll be able to enjoy more,” Partey said.

The midfielder is expected to feature on Tuesday night when Villarreal travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for their 2025/26 UEFA Champions League opener.
