The boys get used to me – Thomas-Asante hails Coventry City teammates for impressive goalscoring form

Ghana forward Brandon Thomas-Asante has credited his Coventry City teammates for playing a key role in his impressive form in the English Championship this season.

The 25-year-old striker netted twice on Tuesday night as Coventry secured a 2–1 victory over Portsmouth, taking his tally to eight goals and three assists so far this campaign.

Reflecting on his resurgence, Thomas-Asante said his current form is a product of fitness, teamwork, and a strong pre-season under manager Frank Lampard.

“Last season, I was suffering a bit of injury and trying to play through that, but obviously not being 100% is a bit frustrating,” he said in the post-match interview.

“The boys get used to me and vice versa, and working with the manager [Lampard]. Having pre-season is always a strength and a positive thing because you can get the building blocks in tactically and physically, so I think that helped.’

He was quick to shift the spotlight away from himself, adding: “It is not just about me; the other boys are making it really easy, and I am so grateful to have these teammates.”

Thomas-Asante will be aiming to extend his fine run of form when Coventry City welcome Watford to the Coventry Building Society Arena on Saturday.

The striker, who featured in the Black Stars’ final two matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic and Comoros, is also eyeing a recall for the team’s November friendlies against Japan and South Korea.
