The Teachers and Educational Workers’ Union (TEWU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) has declared an indefinite strike, effective Friday, September 20, 2025.
The industrial action will affect members across Technical and Public Universities, the Ghana Library Authority, and the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board (GMMB).
According to the Union, the strike has become inevitable following government’s failure to address long-standing concerns of non-teaching staff, despite exhausting all laid-down procedures.
In a statement, TEWU-TUC said it has exercised patience and restraint over the matter, warning that any attempt to intimidate its members will amount to an unfair labour practice.
The union recalled that on September 8, it served official notice of the strike, citing persistent delays in finalising and signing Conditions of Service agreements.
Signed by General Secretary King James Azortibah, the statement stressed that repeated engagements and follow-ups with management and relevant authorities have yielded no results, leaving members frustrated.
