According to him, President Mahama sought the collaboration of some foreign partners who have started planting bamboo in the country.

“When you go to Atebubu and Bantama, these foreigners have planted about 15 thousand acres of bamboo. These trees within 5 years are able to grow over 8 metres,” he said.

Speaking on Nhyira FM’s morning show, “Kuro Yi Mu Nsem,” Mr. Donkor told Nana Kwadwo Jantuah that a feasibility study worth thousands of dollars was conducted by the partners for free on the destroyed lands before initiating the project.

He explained negotiations between John Mahama and the foreigners started during the NDC’s previous tenure.

“It was in 2016, during NDC’s previous term. But when the government changed, things didn’t go as planned. And they decided to plant and wait till the NDC is in power again.

“In 2022, the president pleaded with them to find trees they could plant on lands that are being destroyed by Galamsey practices. Trees that will be productive, can’t be easily destroyed and grow fast,” he stated.

Bamboo is the fastest growing plant in the world. It has been recorded to grow at an amazing 47.6 inches in a 24-hour period. They can be used as building materials, food, medicine and in air purification.

Fuseini Donkor explained that the type of bamboo to be used for the reclamation can also be used for ethanol production.

“They have brought us a better type of bamboo. The research shows these have very thick mass. It is not like the normal bamboo with bigger holes inside. The most amazing part of it is that it can be used for ethanol,” he added.

Fuseini Donkor stated that John Mahama is targeting 1 million acres of land across the country for the plantation.

The former DCE for Sekyere Afram Plains announced the Ashanti region is greatly going to benefit from this project, especially the Sekyere Afram Plains.

He recalled that President Akufo-Addo-Bawumia’s New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration has undertaken numerous developmental projects in Sekyere Afram Plains to significantly improve the lives of the people in the area.

He said the NPP government has started One District One Factory (1D1F), One District One Warehouse, Agenda 111 hospital, school projects, roads, and other developmental projects in Sekyere Afram Plains during the last eight years in office.

Dr Prempeh nicknamed ‘Napo’ is of the strong conviction that the NPP government has been good to the people of Sekyere Afram Plains, so he urged the people to also return the favour by voting for Dr Bawumia.

“The President Nana Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration has been extremely kind to the people of Sekyere Afram Plains, and so I’m appealing to you to also reciprocate the kind gesture by giving us your votes on December 7.

“The upcoming election presents an opportunity for you to also vote for us to remain in power and continue our good works for you. Please, vote for Dr Bawumia and George Akom, our parliamentary candidate”, Napo appealed.

Addressing the Drobonsohene, Nana Dwamena Dankwa Dwebisiaw and his people at his palace on Wednesday, August 28, he said he is expecting the NPP to, for the first time, win the Drobonso parliamentary seat during the impending polls.

“If you want the huge developmental projects being witnessed across the Sekyere Afram Plains Constituency to be sustained, then vote for Dr Bawumia and George Akom to represent you in parliament”, Napo remarked.

According to him, the incoming Dr Bawumia-Napo government has plans to undertake more projects in the Sekyere Afram Plains, reiterating the need for the people to cast their ballots for the NPP to retain political power.

The Drobonso Chief, Nana Dwamena Dankwa Dwebisiaw, in his succinct remarks, lauded the NPP administration for contributing to transforming Drobonso and other communities in the Sekyere Afram Plains. He also thanked Napo for his visit.

As the BECE progresses to day 2, the drone delivered the papers to Anyinofi at Sekyere Afram Plains.

The district has only two BECE centres; Drobonso & Anyinofi which are both grappling with the issue of inaccessibility of roads, which has historically led to delays in the delivery of essential materials, including exam papers.

To address this obstacle and ensure timely delivery, Zipline harnessed its cutting-edge drone technology, originally designed for medical purposes.

The drone successfully navigated its course and completed the delivery to the Anyinofi center, situated in the challenging geographical terrain of Sekyere Afram Plains.

The drone initiative is part of Vice President Bawumia’s digitalization agenda.

The recent accomplishment of Zipline’s drone technology in successfully delivering BECE exam papers to the remote Afram Plains district has sparked mixed reactions among netizens.

The achievement, while hailed for its innovative use of technology, has also attracted bashing for the government.

Netizens have argued that there would be no need for an alternative means to deliver exams papers had the deplorable Sekyere roads been developed.

Both Dr Kwabena Duffuor Jnr and incumbent Member of Parliament for Sekyere Afram Plains, Alex Adomako-Mensah, who doubles as brother of Dr Duffuor Snr, failed to fulfill their political aspiration.

With 211 votes, Hajia Nasira Afrah won narrowly with eight votes against Dr Duffuor Jnr who garnered 203 votes.

Incumbent Alex Adomako-Mensah failed to retain his seat with just 86 votes and Edward Branya, 65.

There was a little tension when Dr Duffuor’s camp called for a recount following the slight margin.

Prior to the elections, Dr Duffuor Snr was positive his son will beat his uncle “hands down”.
