She said she independently produced her own shows including DJing for the first ten (10) years of her career after completing secondary school.

This makes her not understand and realise what it is like to work with a producer for the over 25 years she has worked as a media personality.

The radio goddess made this revelation during the Season 2 premiere of ‘Changes‘, which airs on Joy Prime, while responding to the question of how strict her producers were.

“I worked for 10 years without a producer. So, I don’t know what it is to have worked with a producer from scratch. Yes, I was my own presenter, producer, and DJ. I’ve always played my own music; I don’t have a DJ.”

She learned to do all the productions from the beginning, which she eventually got used to and enjoyed doing.

Compared to the current technological advancement in media, she said in her early days one had to be properly trained to acquire the requisite skills in production and other basic requirements that come with the job because mistakes were not pardonable.

“I learned from the get-go that we should pretty much weigh the songs we play. Songs with nude lyrics were definitely a no-no; we made sure we sampled the music before putting it on air. At that time, you also had to make sure that you were learning the songs and knowing which ones were radio edited, which means that they were clean songs. We went through training to learn pronunciations because a lot of people would ‘butcher’ the local names, and it was unpardonable, but now presenters have walked away with too much.”

Her media career was accidental because she wanted to study pharmacy, which unfortunately did not happen as lecturers were on strike and universities closed at the time.

She decided to apply for a presenter opportunity on radio since it was her hobby, but it later developed into a passion and influenced her to divert to journalism and public relations.

Due to how things started for her, she passionately learned all production techniques on the job, never bothering about getting produced.

I don't know what it is to work with a producer - Legendary radio presenter, Doreen Andoh nonadult
Junior Pope: Movie producer breaks silence on boat accident http://34.58.148.58/junior-pope-movie-producer-breaks-silence-on-boat-accident/ Mon, 15 Apr 2024 19:03:29 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2381362 Movie producer, Adanma Luke, has broken her silence on the boat accident that occurred during her new movie shoot in Delta State.

The accident claimed the lives of popular Nollywood actor, John Paul Odonwodo, and four others.

Mrs. Luke, in her first public comment on the incident, blamed the death of Junior Pope on his refusal to use a life jacket during the boat ride.

“On that shooting day, I saw my director. I saw Emeka. They were outside. My director was wearing a life jacket. Emeka, the D.O.P. was in a life jacket. There was still one other jacket which I don’t know who took it,” she said in a video clip uploaded on her Instagram handle on Saturday.

Giving more details, the filmmaker said, “My production manager said they saw one life jacket hanging so, they took it. He said they sent one to Junior Pope but he said it was dirty and didn’t take it. Those people with life jackets survived (the boat accident).”

“They also told me that when they were in the water trying to survive, Junior Pope was asking if everybody was okay. They even threw a gallon to him to use and hold himself up. But all of a sudden, they didn’t see him again.”

However, Mrs Luke did not confirm if the four other crew members who died in the boat accident had life jackets or not.

This comes after Junior Pope and four other actors drowned after their boat capsised in Anam River in Anambra State on Wednesday while returning from the location of a movie shoot.

The National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) had earlier said 12 individuals were in the ill-fated boat.

NIWA added that of the 12, seven were successfully rescued, two found dead, including Mr Odonwodo while three others – two females and one male – were declared missing.

The police in Anambra State, Friday, said they had recovered the bodies of the three missing Nollywood stars.

AGN’s moves

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) had declared Thursday as ‘No Shoot Day’ for all Nollywood filmmakers and suspended movie production involving riverine areas indefinitely.

Making the declaration in a statement on Thursday, Emeka Rollas, National President of AGN, also announced the suspension of the production of the movie which led to the accident, ‘The other side of Life’, produced by Adamma Luke.

“Following the tragic incident of a boat mishap that claimed the life of Junior Pope and three other crew members at the waterside of River Niger Cable point Asaba on 10th of April, all films that involve riverine areas and boat riding are hereby suspended indefinitely.”

“No shoot on all locations nationwide on Thursday, 11th April 2024 and the film titled ‘The Other Side of Life’ is suspended indefinitely,” the statement said.

It also barred actors from dealing with the movie producer until further notice.

The police in Anambra State, South-east Nigeria, have also begun an investigation to unravel any criminal liability in the cause of death of John Pope and others.

Film producer curses ‘thief’ http://34.58.148.58/film-producer-curses-thief/ Wed, 15 Mar 2017 09:47:06 +0000 http://ghana-news.adomonline.com/new/?p=28051 Former Public Relations Officer of Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), Michael Kwaku Ola has hurled curses at one Daakyehene Nana Osei for illegally uploading films by some producers on his Facebook timeline.

Checks by abrantepa.com revealed that Daakyehene had uploaded close to forty (40) local movies.

Ola who was unhappy about the ‘criminal’ act, fumed with rage and cursed the dude.

“This is one of the armed robbers of the creative industry. They arm themselves with data and steal our works and give them out for free in return for following. May thieves steal from you and your families and your followers, just as you are doing to the poor producers of the films you show for free. May you go through painful regrets and loss like the producers you are stealing from,” he posted this together with Daakyehene’s picture on Facebook.

Meanwhile, film producer, Nana Owusu of Nana Wusu Productions has warned he would take actions to serve as deterrent to others.

He has alleged that he once confronted Daakyehene but the response was in bad taste.

“That guy told me, I should report him to Nana Addo. I will never ever forgive him. He will surely pay for it. We will use him as example for others to see,” his comments on the post read.
