“When there’s a fire and our response time is delayed, people start blaming us. But they rarely consider where we’re coming from” he made this known in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Show.

According to him, areas such as Dome-Kwabenya, Taifa, and Ashonmang Estate lack dedicated fire stations, which significantly affect response times.

“Achimota, Darkuman, Lapaz, Odorkor, Kaneshie, and East Legon also have no fire stations,” he added.

He explained that stations should ideally be situated within each constituency for better proximity.

Another major issue, he noted, is the widespread practice of unplanned construction.

“People build indiscriminately, which not only affects our access but also delays our response,” he said.

ADO1 Nartey explained that in cases where firefighters need to replenish water, they often have to travel long distances to find hydrants.

“Sometimes, we have to go very far to get water, and this impacts our efficiency during fires” he said.

According to the PRO, the lack of support from local assemblies compounds these issues.

He believes that assemblies are not providing sufficient fire stations or safeguarding fire hydrants.

“Assemblies are granting building permits without thorough inspection, and they don’t prioritize protecting hydrants,” he noted.

ADO1 Nartey also mentioned that illegal mining, or galamsey, further complicates their operations.

“The galamsey menace affects us as it impacts the availability of hydrants for firefighting,” he said.

Spiritualists and Mallams Association PRO opens up on their activities [Video] http://34.58.148.58/spiritualists-and-mallams-association-pro-opens-up-on-their-activities-video/ Tue, 20 Apr 2021 13:24:35 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1950064 A self-acclaimed Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Spiritualists and Mallams Association of Ghana has claimed on live radio that top journalists chase him for spiritual help.

Nana Welewa, who said he is a boss in the spiritual realm, received a call on-air, only to disclose later to the show host that it came from a client seeking an update on the ‘for girls’ move he was working on.

In spite of the fact that he and his cohorts have the powers to spiritually hypnotize women to follow men they may be undesirous of, most members of his association are single.

He, however attributed their ‘single’ status to the fact that ladies fear to be with them.

When asked about why he could not use his ‘for girls’ on ladies who turned him down, he said their powers do not work for them since they are the source.

“Of course not, don’t we have feelings,” he remarked after the host Mic Gizo, suggested that he stays celibate and devote his time to his deity.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) is blaming parents and Cafe attendants for the confusion that has marred the 2019 Senior High School (SHS) placements in Ghana.

According to the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of GES, Cassandra Twum-Ampofo, the Computerised School Selection Placement System was to help pupils choose schools at their own convenience and with ease.

“Parents, guardians and café attendants are to blame because they are not helping the process; café attendants who are in a hurry to make money and attend to other people don’t take their time for the pupils to check the schools available online,” she noted.

Madam Twum-Ampofo disclosed this in an interview with Joy News when dozens of parents and their children trooped in to the Black Stars Square on Monday with issues related to the placement system.

“Some people are here for genuine reasons regarding their placements but others are here because they either want us to change their schools or programmes they chose themselves but that is not possible for us to do,” she said.

Madam Twum-Ampofo added: “We educated them well enough about the placement; we were in the schools and the districts and if they have been placed in any of the schools they chose and they want us to change, it is not possible because they were to choose schools within their catchment area and with convenience.”

She urged pupils, who did their self-placement between Monday, September 9, 2019 and Wednesday September 11, 2019, to log into the portal and place themselves again.

They subsequently walked into the offices of the CEO, walked him and his staff out and locked the offices.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Lands Ministry, Abraham Otabil, the Israeli national [name withheld], who had called on the minister to discuss some private matters when he surprisingly detected the ‘spying’ gadget.
Speaking in a media interview, the PRO explained that, the foreigner had arrived at the ministry with his team to discuss security matters with John Peter Amewu, after the minister raised concerns about his security after picking up the ‘galamsey’ fight.
He added that, the detective and his team discovered the bugged device after a brief inspection was carried out at the office. Though the said Israeli national, could not tell the minister how long the device had been planted, National Security operatives were alerted to pick up the matter for further investigations.
But before they could conclude on their investigations, Inusah Fuseini, a former state minister under the erstwhile Mahama administration who once occupied that office, has openly admitted planting the device, but insists it never worked since installation was not completed.
Another NDC minister who occupied same office, has also lamented about the conduct of Mr Fuseini. Nii Osah Mills claims he feels his predecessor was closely monitoring his activities whiles serving under that office.
However, the current NPP minister in charge of Lands and natural Resource John Peter Amewu, says he is not surprised at the development but will work persistently to see an end to illegal mining.
