The workers have called on state agencies to investigate PBC’s financial management, urging the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) particularly to examine the status of its sample residue account.

The call is in the wake of demands for the payment of one-year salaries owed to workers.

Reacting to this, Mr Ackon on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Thursday said the probe was long overdue.

“EOCO must probe this issue to the latter for us to know what is being done with company funds. PBC in the just ended season could not buy one bean of cocoa because they do not have money but how is it possible?” he quizzed.

Mr Ackon, a former Audit officer at PBC said the predicament of the state-owned company did not start overnight and blamed management.

Having worked in the company for 15 years, he recounted he raised concerns about the predicament but was accused of propagating falsehood and laid off.

“Does the government want to tell us they are not aware or haven’t heard of what is happening at PBC? By now, there should have been a change of management. How do you continue to use company assets, cars and receive fuel when you haven’t been able to pay salaries for a year? They should have gone by now,” he stated.

PBC was attempting to sell off some of its properties when the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) and five other banks secured a court order to prevent the sale or transfer of assets, including the company’s headquarters at Number 106 Olusegun Obasanjo Way, Dzorwulu Junction in Accra.

However, the Akim Oda PBC Manager, Frederick Boachie on the same show revealed that, some company cars have already been sold.

We now survive on the benevolence of our wives – PBC worker  http://34.58.148.58/we-now-survive-on-the-benevolence-of-our-wives-pbc-worker/ Thu, 08 Aug 2024 16:35:38 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2431009 An aggrieved worker of PBC Limited, Frederick Kwame Boachie has revealed he and his colleagues now survive on the benevolence of their wives.

According to him, PBC workers can barely make ends meet or feed their families.

Mr Boachie who is the Akim Oda District Manager of PBC disclosed this in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, Thursday.

He said that but for their caring and supportive wives, life would have been unbearable, adding some have already suffered the brunt of their unpaid salaries.

“There are about 750 permanent workers but almost 30,000 including cocoa clerks. Our wives are the one taking care of us with the little money from their businesses.

“Some wives who can no longer handle the situation have left their husbands to their fate,” he lamented.

PBC workers have been in the news the past days over their one-year unpaid salaries.

On Wednesday, they marched to PBC’s headquarters in Dzorwulu, Accra to express their frustration over the situation.

This follows a similar demonstration held by PBC staff in the Ashanti region on May 29, 2024.
