He suggests persons who are passed for executive positions at the regional and national levels should have previously held portfolios at the polling station or constituency levels.

The former Ashanti Regional Chairman aspirant believes aside from ability to serve effectively; such persons have strong ties with the grassroots which is key for party development.

He was speaking at the NPP Chairmen Caucus of Ghana Conference in Kumasi on the theme: “Building Momentum: The Role of NPP Constituency Chairmen in Uplifting the Party Towards 2028 and Beyond.”

The conference brought together constituency chairmen from across the country to discuss strategies, internal cohesion, and preparations for the 2028 general elections.

The speech of Odeneho Kwaku Appiah highlighted the need for unity, discipline, and renewed energy in the struggle to return to power.

He further made a call for action that resonated deeply with party members grappling with internal challenges and public perception issues following the 2024 elections, emphasizing the dangers of internal division.

“Let us set aside religious, tribal, and economic differences in favor of collective strength,” he added.

“Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity” he quoted Psalm 133:1 to remind the audience that the path to victory in 2028 requires forgiveness, teamwork, and a strategic commitment to ethical governance.

Throughout the address, the former Constituency Chairman invoked powerful references from Eleanor Roosevelt, Martin Luther King Jr., and African proverbs to emphasize unity, collaboration, and responsibility.

He also urged party executives to actively participate in decision-making, foster transparency, and embrace dissenting views within the boundaries of respectful democratic discourse.

In a Facebook post to address his supporters, COKA, as he is affectionately called said: “So far, so good, I see 86% victory. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate. COKA, I care.”

The former Afigya Kwabre South NPP chairman has thus filed to challenge incumbent, Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly called Chairman Wontumi.

On Monday, 16 May 2022, COKA’s campaign team were at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) to officially submit nomination forms to a committee set up to supervise the election.

The team was welcomed by a cheerful crowd of supporters clad in NPP colours.

The forms were received by the Chairman of the Elections Committee, who doubles as the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah.

A member of COKA’s campaign team, Keskine Opoku rallied delegates to vote massively for the man he described as a “dynamic” leader.

He was very optimistic that COKA will win the Ashanti Regional chairmanship race scheduled for May 27 and May 29, 2022.

Mr. Opoku called on the NPP fraternity to avoid strife and acrimony ahead of the primaries.

“Our aspiring candidate is a unifier and so we expect all his supporters and the NPP family to avoid any act that will divide the party,” he said.
