Obaapa Christy features  Sarkodie on 15th studio album “Odeneho” http://34.58.148.58/obaapa-christy-features-sarkodie-on-15th-studio-album-odeneho/ Sat, 23 Aug 2025 13:00:34 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2570408 In a time when the music industry is shifting toward quick singles and viral moments, Ghanaian gospel powerhouse Obaapa Christy has taken a bold step in the opposite direction, delivering not just a song, but a full spiritual experience.

Her 15th studio album, Odeneho (The Sovereign One), was released on July 31, 2025, and it’s already making waves across both gospel and secular circles.

But it wasn’t just the album that got people talking. It was the moment the world saw Obaapa Christy and Sarkodie, two giants from different ends of Ghana’s musical spectrum, come together on a track that is now being called a spiritual crossover, “Odeneho.”

“This was more than a feature. It was a testimony,” Sarkodie reacted to the collaboration.

The track is raw, reverent, and real. Sarkodie, known for his lyrical precision, opens up like never before, pouring out one of the most emotional verses of his career.

According to him, this wasn’t just a studio job, it was a “bucket list achievement.”

“If you see how Sarkodie sang ‘Odeneho’ with such emotion,” Obaapa Christy shared, “you’d know he truly loves God. I’ve never seen him sing with so much feeling. God bless him.”

A short teaser of the music video has already gone viral, sparking a wave of curiosity and anticipation. Both artistes promise the full video is coming soon, and it’s set to be more than a visual; it’s a testimony.

Meanwhile, Odeneho is not just a collection of songs, it’s a spiritual journey. With 12 tracks that cover themes of hope, worship, thanksgiving, and personal breakthrough, the album feels like a modern-day psalm book.

Among the standout tracks is “No Weapon”, a soul-piercing message of resilience and spiritual warfare.

The official video is slated for release on September 4, 2025, and fans are already calling it one of the most comforting gospel songs in recent memory.

Other powerful tracks include: “Gyae Su” ft. Brother Sammy – a cry of comfort; “Thank You Jesus” ft. Junior (Obaapa Christy’s 2nd Son) – a celebration of gratitude.; “Yesu Mo”, “Waye Yie Nwom Ni”, and “Omma Me Nte Nhwe” – solo works full of depth and fire among others.

A Night to Remember: The Official Launch:

The Alisa Hotel in Accra set the stage for a historic launch event. The red carpet was lined with celebrities, politicians, and spiritual leaders, a rare fusion of entertainment and ministry.

Attendees included Kwabena Kwabena, Dr. Likee, Andy Dosty, former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Sammy Awuku, Kwame A Plus, loved ones and a host of pastors who filled the room with prayer and presence.

What was supposed to be a launch became a night of worship, testimonies, and heartfelt music, a true reflection of Obaapa Christy’s identity as both an artist and a minister.

Why An Album — and Why Now?

In an exclusive reflection, Obaapa Christy shared what makes this release so significant in an era dominated by singles and streaming stats:

“God gives me songs, in dreams, in worship, during church services, driving in a car, listening to other songs, even in silence. I’ve had songs sitting in the studio for years, waiting for the right time. I don’t want to serve snacks; I want to offer a full spiritual meal. That’s why I do albums.”

And that decision wasn’t just personal, it was spiritual. After her powerful collaboration with Prof. Kofi Abraham on “Wiase Mu Abrabo”, gospel legends began reaching out. Many asked her to help revive their classic songs, not for fame, but to keep the fire burning for future generations.

“They don’t want to be forgotten,” she said. “They want today’s youth to feel the power that moved crowds decades ago. I owe it to them.”

Prof. Kofi Abraham himself responded with deep admiration: “She’s not just singing. She’s preserving history. Gospel music is safe in her hands.”

More Than Music – A Ministry of Memory;

Obaapa Christy’s Odeneho is not just an album; it’s a bridge between generations, a movement that honours the past while pointing to the future.

It reminds listeners that the gospel is not about trends, it’s about truth. And sometimes, truth sounds like worship, rap, drums, tears, or even silence.

From her early days with “Me Te Ase”, to this landmark 15th album, Rev. Obaapa Christy has carried one mission: to uplift souls and draw people closer to God.

“This is more than music. It’s ministry. It’s memory. It’s me answering my calling.” – Obaapa Christy

I won’t go back to school, I’ll hire a tutor – Obaapa Christy to English critics http://34.58.148.58/i-wont-go-back-to-school-ill-hire-a-tutor-obaapa-christy-to-english-critics/ Fri, 01 Aug 2025 10:48:12 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2562350

Gospel songstress Rev. Obaapa Christy has opened up about her personal approach to education, stating that formal classroom learning is not something she plans to return to.

Speaking on Hitz FM, she addressed public perceptions that some Ghanaian gospel artistes, including herself, struggle with English fluency.

She acknowledged that she doesn’t have a strong academic background but emphasized that her ministry is driven by spiritual depth, not language skills.

“For me, it’s not about speaking perfect English. I may not be fluent, but I have the Holy Spirit. He gives me the lyrics. That’s what matters most in ministry,” she said.

Obaapa Christy noted that while she is open to furthering her education, she would prefer a private tutor over traditional schooling.

“Given who I am now, I’d rather hire a tutor to teach me at home,” she added, stressing that the decision is based on practicality and comfort, not pride.

Obaapa Christy speaks out on Catholic Bishop’s apology after King Paluta’s ‘Aseda’ performance [Video] http://34.58.148.58/obaapa-christy-speaks-out-on-catholic-bishops-apology-after-king-palutas-aseda-performance-video/ Thu, 22 Aug 2024 11:59:28 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2437345 Gospel musician Obaapa Christy has weighed in with her perspective, in response to the recent controversy surrounding Rev. Fr. Peter Kusi Twumasi’s performance of King Paluta’s song “Aseda” in church.

The video of the Catholic bishop singing the secular track at St. Stephen Rectorate in Bodomase went viral, prompting Rev. Fr. Twumasi to issue a heartfelt apology for what many viewed as an infringement on the sanctity of the church environment.

Obaapa Christy, reflecting on the incident in an interview on Hitz FM’s U Say Wetin, offered a nuanced take on the situation.

“Such matters can easily lead to misunderstandings if not handled with care. I pray for wisdom to navigate such discussions. There are songs that are meaningful and others that may be seen as profane. Singing King Paluta’s song doesn’t reflect on my character,” she said.

She emphasized that everyone has their own perspective and that one should ensure their actions are in alignment with their values.

“Everyone will have their opinions on everything. It’s important to reflect internally and be confident in what you’re doing. God loves us all, regardless of the type of music we enjoy,” Obaapa Christy added.

The controversy arose when Rev. Fr. Twumasi’s performance of “Aseda” during a church service was shared online, raising questions about the appropriateness of secular music in religious settings.

In his apology, Rev. Fr. Twumasi admitted that he had let secular influences infiltrate a sacred space and expressed regret for any offence caused.

“I sincerely apologize for my actions. I allowed secular elements into our church space, which was not my intention. I understand that my actions may have caused confusion and hurt, and for that, I am truly sorry,” Rev. Fr. Twumasi stated.

Why I never went for my BECE results – Obaapa Christy [Video] http://34.58.148.58/why-i-never-went-for-my-bece-results-obaapa-christy-video/ Fri, 23 Feb 2024 12:24:43 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2360631 Ghanaian gospel sensation, Obaapa Christy has revealed that she did not bother going for her Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results after completion.

According to her, she envisioned that she would not pass all the subjects, so she made no effort to return to the school after the results were released.

She spoke in an interview with Roselyn Felli on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning on Wednesday while speaking about her educational background.

“I reached JHS, but it’s not that I stopped; I wrote BECE, but I didn’t go for the results,” she said.

“Did you pass”? Roselyn asked

“I didn’t even go for it to see whether I passed or not because I foresaw that I wouldn’t pass,” the singer replied.

Not that she didn’t study, but the singer held the opinion that even if she did, she would fail because she had nurtured the mindset that she was not good academically, making learning difficult.

As a result, she channelled her energy towards singing and praying at school since she enjoyed doing them.

“When we visit a colleague who is sick, then I’m asked to pray, or I’ll be called to lead praise and worship during Wednesday and Friday church services, or a teacher would send me to buy something. Those were the things that made me like going to school,” she added.

Not only did she dislike studies, but the gospel singer mentioned that she also detested dictation sessions in class.

Nevertheless, Obaapa Christy feels she would have excelled in her academics if she had positioned her mind to studying thoroughly, considering how smart she is at capturing things at her current age.

She does not regret her conduct at school because she believes that education is not the only trajectory to success for everyone.

Although she supports formal education, she firmly believes that God’s blessing is the ultimate.

“My success is based on the grace of God that located me, and so I don’t joke with such grace,” she said.

I don’t do ‘ekutia’ songs to settle personal scores – Obaapa Christy http://34.58.148.58/i-dont-do-ekutia-songs-to-settle-personal-scores-obaapa-christy/ Wed, 24 May 2023 11:03:05 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2252932 Obaapa Christy, formerly known as Christiana Love, a seasoned gospel musician, has said she neither casts insinuations nor uses her songs to settle personal scores.

Many people have noted that after Obaapa Christy divorced his former husband, Pastor Love, most of her songs have sought to attack him indirectly known in the local parlance as ‘Ekutia’.

Speaking to Amansan Krakye in an interview, she denied: “Never, I don’t cast insinuations or use my songs to settle personal scores and the reason being that anything that comes which isn’t from God doesn’t last.

“The heart I use in doing music is a heart full of joy so whatever song that God gives me is what will make the listeners happy,” she remarked on Cape Coast-based Property FM.

She continued “So my music continues to make a difference because I use a clean heart in doing my songs not that I want to cast insinuations I will never do that.

“But I believe strongly that God wants me to bring that particular song out at that particular moment and there are several testimonies that I get from other people,” she ended.

Her brother has been identified as Shadrach Arloo, who was allegedly maltreated to death by a police officer at West Hills Mall.

Reports gathered revealed that the deceased was in a confrontation with the policeman after he declined to have his bag searched. Consequently, he was allegedly beaten and tased.

In the subsequent hours, his sister, Perpetual Didier, who appears to be emotionally downcast, has been lamenting to whosoever cares to listen.

It is for this reason gospel singer Obaapa Christy paid the family a visit to offer a shoulder for her colleague to lean on.

In videos shared on social media, she is spotted stroking the hair of the aggrieved sister who was narrating the unfortunate incident.

Pastor Love Kwaku Hammond, the ex-husband of gospel musician Obaapa Christy, has accused the latter of hiding their last son from him.

According to him, he has over a decade now not heard from or seen the boy since he moved to Germany at age two.

Speaking on the relationship between him and his children, Pastor Love revealed his last encounter with the boy whose name he disclosed as Edward Love (Eddie) was when he carried him to the airport.

“We have three children; Benjamin Love, Kweku Love Hammond Junior and Eddie Love whose issues I want to give critical attention to. His mother has hidden him from me and he is now 14 meaning I haven’t seen him for the past 12 years.

“I’m not able to reach him in any way or even have a phone conversation,” he told Afia Amankwa Tamakloe on Adom TV’s M’ashyase3.

The founder of the Action Grace Chapel International says he cannot fathom his ex-wife’s actions since nothing can change the fact that he [Pastor Love] is the boy’s father.

He, however, urged his former wife’s friends and close associates to advise her on her actions because he knows the extent he can go to demand custody of the child.

But he has been patient over the years because the outcome of his actions may create problems that may not be good.

Pastor Love Hammond who happens to be the ex-husband of gospel musician, Obaapa Christy has opened up on the role he played to make the latter’s career success.

The Action Grace Chapel founder says he wrote about eight songs for his ex-wife which were all hits.

However, he did not get any financial profit in return for his work.

Recounting their musical journey on Adom TV’s M’ashyase3, Pastor Love indicated he will not blame the musician for how things turned out.

This according to him is because music itself was not a profitable venture back in those days.

“I can say that at that time, music wasn’t fetching money. We were not making money at that time. You write and give the song to someone to produce it and all the proceeds go to that person so that was the reason we didn’t make money.

“They say there is something called royalties but nothing came out of it. There was no money,” he told Afia Amankwa Tamakloe.

Despite this situation Pastor Love says he remains resolute to help other musicians and as a result, has four persons he is currently working in the studio with.

Pastor Love indicated he personally has a song he is working on.

The musician revealed that she had already decided that she was not fit for higher education after failing to further her education after finishing her BECE.

She stated on Rainbow Radio that she was not a brilliant student and that she knew she would not pass with flying colours from the start.

”However, I have come to discover that education is important. You need a positive mindset to succeed. If I had that positive mindset, I think I would have made it. But it is not too late. I will be going back to school. It is not too late to go back to school,” she said.

To her, despite her lack of higher education, God has used her to touch lives, transfer homes, and bring joy to many others through her powerful songs.

“If God had blessed people because of their higher education, I would not be where I am today. God gave me something, and that is what I have done all these years.”

Obaapa Christy, who is celebrating 20 years in the industry, expressed gratitude to God for bringing her this far.

The musician also revealed Mathematics and drawing were her best subjects.

“Mathematics was my best subject because God knew I would be wealthy and be counting money,” she said amidst laughter.

Stella Aba Seal and Obaapa Christy have been spotted hushing out their differences at an event in Accra.

Stella’s manager took to social media to issue a disclaimer stating that they knew nothing about Obaapa Christy’s flyer which indicated her participation in the concert.

Per the statement, the veteran singer had taken a strong exception to the incident and cautioned other event organisers against emulating the same.

Obaapa subsequently apologised on Daybreak Hitz for not informing Stella Seal first before publishing the poster.

However, the latest development occurred at the launch of Abena Serwah Ophelia’s new single Womfa Mma No on Tuesday night.

After the event, Obaapa Christy and Stella Aba Seal solidified their reunion.

They were seen in a dialogue in the company of Stacy Amoabeng and some other personalities.

Reacting to it for the first time on Daybreak Hitz with Doreen Avio, Obaapa Christy apologised to her colleague and her team for not informing them first before publishing the poster.

“Firstly, Stella is a veteran, I am her daughter and I apologise for my mistake. If you explain things too much, you might end up making too many mistakes. I had good intentions for what happened, but it tuned out bad. I appreciate and respect Stella so much,” the ‘Wagye Me’ hitmaker said.

Explaining further, Obaapa Christy revealed that her plan was to honour some veteran gospel musicians who have worked hard to sustain the music industry for young ones like herself.

She added that failure to seek permission from Stella Aba Seal was an oversight, especially since she was busy due to the event preparations and the outdoor of her new restaurant.

“I had plans of honouring some veteran musicians. It was never to only bring them for performances, but it was just an oversight as I had already reached out to the majority of the male musicians who had already agreed to these plans,” she explained.

“Obaapa Christy also stated that God understands things better and know why they happen in our lives.” Quoting the Bible, she urged Christians to accept things the way they are, whether good or bad.

“Though I didn’t call Stella’s team, it was not with a bad intention, I had told her my real intentions, I am sure she would have thanked me for planning to honour her,“ she said.

Earlier, Stella Seal’s team posted a flyer of colleague gospel musician Obaapa Christy that had the former as one of her featured guests for her upcoming 20th celebration concert.

Stella’s team tagged the post as “fake” urging followers to pass on the information to others since they had no idea about the concert.

Obaapa Christy posted this now-deleted flyer of her 20th anniversary on Instagram

They wrote: It has come to the attention of the Management of STELLA SEAL MINISTRIES that a highly publicized flyer which includes our artiste, STELLA SEAL, is circulating regarding an upcoming OBAAPA CHRISTY Anniversary celebrations.

We seek to tell all lovers of this ministry that STELLA SEAL and Management has no knowledge of such an event.

We disassociate ourselves from the event and INSIST that the Management of OBAAPA CHRISTY does the needful. We would like to use this opportunity to urge anyone interested in engaging our services to go through the appropriate channels before proceeding to do any publicity.

In the name of gospel, scammers thrive – Stella Steal’s manager amid Obaapa Christy’s brouhaha

Reacting to this, Mr Baffour said some scammers have been using the image of his artiste on many occasions to scam the gospel music lovers.

In an interview with Adom FM’s Kwamena Idan, Mr Baffour said they had not been informed about any event by Obaapa Christy’s team, hence they had to kill the trend.

He explained that there is no beef between the duo, insisting Obaapa Christy is like a daughter to Stella Seal.

According to Mr Baffour, Obaapa Christy’s team should have informed Stella Seal’s management if she wanted to have her grace her occasion.

No one has called us to inform us. Obaapa’s management hasn’t even confirmed such a show. And we wouldn’t want people to put out short codes to take money from the public in the name of a ticket. That will bring a problem.

It’s gospel, we want peace and love and that’s what we portray, but we would not say it’s social media, so we should leave it. Some people were using Stella Seal’s name to sell tickets. The management has my contact, and they could have called us. Obaapa is my big sister, but the right thing must be done.

According to Mr Baffour, gospel musicians must pay attention to the business side of the music industry, just like secular musicians do.

We are always saying gospel, and that is not making us do the right thing. It is gospel that has even allowed gospel fraudsters Thrive. We should do the right thing. Can Sarkodie put Shatta Wale on a flyer without informing him? Does it show respect? We should avoid that gospel thing. It is affecting the industry. Though it’s an official artwork, maybe they were yet to inform us. Stella Seal will be in Ghana soon. She will attend the program if she is invited.

Mr Baffour Sarpong

He, however, made it clear that Stella Seal is not using Obaapa Christy as a scapegoat to caution scammers who wrongfully use his artiste’s image without permission.

We are not using Obaapa Christy as an example. We are addressing what is happening. Likewise, we are trying to stop the similar thing that happened at Adentan. We have appointments with people, and they have booked us rightfully. If she calls us officially, we will be on the show, he said.

Obaapa Christy’s manager reacts to Stella Seal’s ‘fake’ flyer post on Facebook http://34.58.148.58/obaapa-christys-manager-reacts-to-stella-seals-fake-flyer-post-on-facebook/ Tue, 16 Aug 2022 16:20:28 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2150324 Obaapa Christy’s manager, Nana Frank, has reacted after gospel musician Stella Seal issued a disclaimer against her 20th anniversary concert on social media.

It went viral after Stella Seal’s management posted Obaapa Christy’s flyer on their page asking their followers to ignore the concert because it’s fake.

According to Stella’s team, they weren’t aware of any concert, adding that, lately, some scammers have been using Stella Seal’s image to take money from gospel music lovers.

Reacting to this, the manager admitted that his team made a mistake by not first contacting Stella Seal’s team.

He, however, continued that, in the gospel fraternity, they usually allow such gestures because they are one big family.

According to him, there were plans to officially inform Stella Seal’s team, but an oversight prevented the team from doing such.

Talking further in an interview with Adom FM’s Kwamena Idan, he said Obaapa Christy was shocked to see the ‘fake’ flyer post because she had earlier discussed the event with Stella Seal when they met at the recently-held Women in Worship.

It was late, but we tried to contact all of them. The poster had to come out first. We were supposed to call Mama Seal, because we called Abraham, Yaw Sarpong and others. It’s true that the poster is out.

It’s like she wants to bring about divisiveness in the gospel fraternity. It is true that we had to inform them, but due to the gospel fraternity we went ahead first. Obaapa has taken her as her mother, that’s why we did it.

We were so shocked. It’s very bad for them to put a red cross, deeming our program fake. They should have called Obaapa first, and it could have been private, but to cancel the show and make it look like it’s a fake event, it’s a bad one. They should be careful. We acknowledge that we’ve made a mistake per their reaction. We have decided that we will no longer invite anyone to the show, he climaxed.

My reason for attending school as a child – Obaapa Christy http://34.58.148.58/my-reason-for-attending-school-as-a-child-obaapa-christy/ Thu, 13 Jan 2022 14:15:22 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2066825 Growing up as a child, her ideal reason for being in school was not the same as her age mates as she perceived a different path.

These were the words of renowned gospel musician, Obaapa Christy as she gave Ghanaians a lowdown on her educational background.

As someone who ended her education at Junior High School (JHS), going to school was not for academics but the extra-curricula activities that it came with.

“I started school at Division and continued at Anomangye all in Suame, Kumasi. I was delighted to attend school every day not because I wanted to learn but to become a musician.

“So I knew I will be given a platform to sing during church service, asked to lead prayers or a teacher will send me on an errand,” she told Afia Amankwa Tamakloe on Adom TV’s M’ashyase3.

The hyebre sesafo hitmaker said her perception was partly due to her poor performance, though she tried her best in some subjects.

“Maths and Drawing were my favourite subjects but I didn’t like English and Dictation. ‘Dictation’, especially could put me off and give me headaches.

“I believe I liked maths because God knew he will make me a prominent person and I would have to count money,” she bragged.

Against this backdrop, she revealed her JHS certificate is still with the school several years after completion and when asked why, she said, “It will not help me because it could have limited me from reaching the heights of life I have attained with hard work. They should use it to decorate the school.”

She, however,, hinted at her plans and desire to go back to school though she did not give any timelines.
