The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has condemned Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe over his recent remarks about the party’s leadership and the handling of the arrest of Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

Responding to the founding member’s claim that the party “currently has no leadership,” Mr. Kodua expressed deep surprise and disappointment.

“I am very surprised that Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a founding member of our party, chose not to criticise the manner in which Chairman Wontumi was arrested,” Mr. Kodua said.

“He saw nothing wrong with the rough and romble way our Chairman was taken into custody. That in itself is troubling.”He asked.

According to Mr. Kodua, the party is struggling to meet the harsh bail conditions set for Chairman Wontumi.

“As I speak, they have imposed unreasonable bail conditions which we are finding very difficult to meet,” he explained.

Mr. Kodua said he was shocked that Dr. Tamakloe did not sympathize with the challenges the party is facing.

“It’s surprising that a founding member of the party does not sympathize with the trauma, the issues, and the challenges that the party is going through, but instead chooses to criticize the very party he helped to establish.”

He also took issue with Dr. Tamakloe’s remarks about former party leaders.

“I’m even more surprised that he refers to former chairpersons as though they would have done the same,” Mr. Kodua said.

“If those people truly respected the rule of law—most of them being constitutional lawyers—they wouldn’t have stayed silent. They would have spoken out and supported our members who have been taken to the NIB and EOCO,” he said.

Mr. Kodua described the ongoing situation as deeply concerning and unacceptable.

“We have detained a citizen of this country from Tuesday to Friday, and he’s facing outrageous bail conditions. If this is not political persecution, then what else is it?”

He concluded by affirming the party’s right to protest and demand justice.

“We want the world to know what is happening in Ghana and what is happening to our Chairman. We have every right to demonstrate our displeasure,” he said.

“Yes, we can go to court as an option but nothing also stops us from going to the EOCO headquarters to solidarize with our Regional Chairman,” he asserted.

Appoint ‘brutal’ OPK as Whip – Carlos Ahenkorah urges NPP leadership http://34.58.148.58/appoint-brutal-opk-as-whip-carlos-ahenkorah-urges-npp-leadership/ Sat, 28 Dec 2024 16:30:13 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2488379 The Member of Parliament for Tema West, Carlos Ahenkorah, has strongly advocated for Davis Ansah Opoku, popularly known as “OPK,” to be appointed as the Chief Whip or one of the Deputy Whips in the next Parliament.

He made the call during an interview with Kwame Nkrumah Tikese on Accra-based Okay FM, urging the Eastern Region and the National Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to consider Mr Opoku who is the MP for Mpraeso for the crucial leadership role.

Highlighting OPK’s unique blend of leadership qualities, Mr. Ahenkorah described him as a results-oriented leader with exceptional organisational skills and the ability to unite people across political divides.

“Both sides of the House like OPK. His ability to build relationships and foster cooperation is a rare attribute, especially in these politically charged times. He has the charisma and the discipline to bring our caucus together while effectively countering the NDC in opposition,” he stated.

The Tema West MP also emphasised OPK’s fearless and strategic approach to politics, describing him as someone who “gets things done.”

According to him, the Mpraeso MP’s ability to handle challenging situations and deliver results makes him the ideal choice to lead the NPP caucus in Parliament.

Davis Opoku is presently the Deputy ranking member of the Public Accounts Committee, which further cements his credibility.

His dedication to transparency, accountability, and ensuring the prudent use of public resources has earned him respect both within the NPP and across the political spectrum.

His bi-partisan appeal and practical oversight work have made him a standout leader in Parliament.

Mr Ahenkorah underscored the need for dynamic, unifying, and result-oriented leaders like OPK to steer the caucus as the NPP transitions into opposition.

The National Executive Committee are expected to deliberate on these appointments in the coming days, and the call to elevate OPK has further intensified discussions within the party about the need for effective leadership in Parliament.

2024 polls: NPP is in a state of paralysis – Subin MP http://34.58.148.58/2024-polls-npp-is-in-a-state-of-paralysis-subin-mp/ Mon, 09 Dec 2024 13:40:20 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2481431 The Member of Parliament for Subin Constituency, Eugene Boakye Antwi, has criticised the New Patriotic Party (NPP), describing it as being in a “state of paralysis” during the 2024 general elections.

Speaking during a post-election analysis on Adom TV, Mr Boakye Antwi lamented the party’s apparent lack of preparedness ahead of the polls.

He cited security lapses that left its parliamentary candidates vulnerable to attacks at collation centres.

“Entering this election, the NPP was weak and in a state of paralysis. Our parliamentary candidates who have won are being attacked at collation centres.

“Why is our party in power if we cannot protect our own? Where is national security? We are still in power, with Akufo-Addo as president, Ken Dapaah as defence minister, and Henry Quartey as Interior Minister. Why can’t we protect our own people during this election?” he questioned.

Dr Amoako Baah slams NPP leadership http://34.58.148.58/dr-amoako-baah-slams-npp-leadership/ Tue, 23 Jan 2024 00:43:39 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2345220 Former head of the Political Science Department at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr Richard Amoako Baah, has slammed the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for failing to restrain its members.

His comments come in the wake of the supposed derogatory statements made by the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako also known as Chairman Wontumi, about the Asantehene.

The Kumasi Traditional Council subsequently summoned the Regional chairman to appear at the Manhyia Palace.

Wontumi did not honour the invite. Instead, an NPP delegation led by the General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, appealed to the traditional council to request an extension on the basis that the Regional Chairman was ill.

But, Dr Amaoko Baah says the delegation should have been led by a party elder instead of Mr Kodua Frimpong.

“I am very sad to see that the General Secretary is the one who is speaking for the party. Yes, he is the General Secretary, but in this instance, it is not appropriate for him to be the one speaking.

“It should be a member of the National Council speaking, with the General Secretary standing beside him because they are older people, they are elders. Don’t they have any Ashanti region member in their rank to speak to this, an elder to speak to this?” he asked.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Top Story on Monday, January 22, 2024, he explained that per tradition, when an individual seeks forgiveness from someone they have offended, it is always advisable for them to do so with an elder and never a colleague.

“The National Council should have called Wontumi to order on this already,” he added.

According to him, the party is now led by ‘rascals’ who do as they please.

“I have said before, the party is in the hands of rascals and you are watching that happening right now. You don’t call him to order, he does what he wants. This is what he is doing now. Is it the right thing, in his stronghold to be talking like this?

“What is the work of the National Council? Didn’t they see it? They don’t call him to order? He misbehaves they leave him alone. One person has brought the party down. That is what happening. I have said it before, the young men who have taken over the party are messing it up,” he added.
