In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Chairman Butey stated that the executives must take responsibility for the outcome, even though it was unpleasant.

He argued that if the party had won, the executives would have claimed the glory, so they must equally accept responsibility for the defeat.

“I admit we must take responsibility because if there was a win, we would have said we made it happen. So we must accept the defeat and apologise,” he said.

Chairman Butey believes there should have been more effective collaboration between the national, regional, and other executive levels to drive the election campaign successfully.

“The national level should have pushed the regions, then it trickles down to the constituencies and other levels, but our performance was not the best, and all we can do is apologise,” he added.

The NPP was poised to break the eight-year cycle with its presidential candidate and then Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

However, the party suffered significant losses in both the presidential and parliamentary contests.

John Mahama, on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), was elected and declared winner by the Electoral Commission (EC) after polling 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55%, while Dr. Bawumia secured 4,657,304 votes, representing 41.61%.

In Parliament, there was also a historic shift in power as the NDC obtained 183 seats, leaving the NPP with just 88 seats.

Why NPP couldn’t ‘break the 8’ – Theo Acheampong reveals http://34.58.148.58/why-npp-couldnt-break-the-8-theo-acheampong-reveals/ Mon, 05 May 2025 08:16:35 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2531518 Political risk analyst and economist Dr. Theo Acheampong says the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) lost the 2024 election not because of religious dynamics, but due to economic failure.

“They couldn’t break the 8 because they broke the economy,” he declared on Joy News’ Newsfile Express on Saturday, May 3.

Dr. Acheampong dismissed claims that religious identity played a role in the party’s defeat.

“The evidence on the religious argument is complete hogwash,” he said firmly.

“You can slice and dice the data however you want, but you come to a very firm and simple conclusion: the NPP lost the 2024 election not because of religion, but because of the economy.”

He pointed to a long list of economic missteps, including the domestic debt exchange programme, the unpopular E-Levy, and ballooning inflation.

“At one point on Newsfile back in 2022, I was one of the first to call for the sacking of Ken Ofori-Atta. His position had become untenable.”

According to Dr. Acheampong, the damage was self-inflicted.

“These were the issues that sent the elephant back into the bush. It had nothing to do with the fact that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is Muslim.”

Analysing the election results, he said the data shows that the NPP lost ground consistently across all regions—not just in Christian-dominated areas.

“If they had listened and actually run the economy better, especially after COVID, when the warning signs were there, they would have broken the eight.”

He echoed Dr. Bawumia’s own comments during the campaign, noting that the Vice President admitted part of the loss was due to the cost-of-living crisis and “the arrogance of power.”

Dr. Acheampong pointed out that even the NDC presented 215 Christian candidates—and 74 of them lost.

“So what is the religious argument here?” he asked. “When people are hungry, when inflation hits over 54%, it’s not about whether someone is Christian or Muslim. That doesn’t put food on the table.”

He insisted the NPP’s failure was foreseeable.

“The warning signs were there. They had to make a course correction, or Ghanaians were going to punish them. And they did.”

He also addressed the lingering anger within the party.

“You can sense it even on Dr. Bawumia’s thank-you tour. There’s still pain, there’s still anger at the grassroots and even among the party hierarchy. People are unhappy with how the country was managed.”

The economist said the emergence of new aspirants is telling.

“Just this week, we saw a post from Dr. Yaw Adutwum—which was later deleted—hinting at a possible run. Others may follow.”

He believes the appetite for change within the party is strong, but warned that it must be rooted in substance.

“This change can’t be based on religion. They must address the real issues that sent them to opposition.”

Dr. Acheampong concluded with a blunt message: “They have to own up and apologise to Ghanaians.”

2024 election: There is no need to name and shame; this is time for sober reflection – NPP told  http://34.58.148.58/2024-election-there-is-no-need-to-name-and-shame-this-is-time-for-sober-reflection-npp-told/ Thu, 01 May 2025 17:26:25 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2530760 Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, Kwabena Agyepong, has cautioned the party against blame game over its defeat in the 2024 election.

According to him, the NPP must focus on learning from its defeat and mistakes for a strong comeback in the 2028 election.

In an interview on Asempa FM Ekosii Sen, the former General Secretary emphasised that the electoral loss should be a moment of sober reflection for the NPP.

“When you go into an election, there is an overwhelming goodwill for the new government, and it is normal. So you plan your communication and everything for the people to know that you are learning.

“That is why we put together this Prof. Oquaye committee. This is not the time for us to vent because it has never healed anything,” he said.

He stated that it was unnecessary to identify and blame anybody for the defeat.

“This is not the time to name and shame but for sober reflection. The document is not meant for public consumption so we can just put together a team to deliberate on the report and take the necessary steps because that is what matters,” he added.

“Stop feeling sorry for yourselves” – Akufo-Addo urges NPP after election defeat http://34.58.148.58/stop-feeling-sorry-for-yourselves-akufo-addo-urges-npp-after-election-defeat/ Thu, 01 May 2025 14:29:50 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2530731 Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has rallied members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to regroup and prepare for a strong comeback ahead of the 2028 general election.

Speaking during a courtesy call by a delegation of constituency organisers from the Greater Accra Region, led by a prominent party figure and Greater Accra Regional Organiser of the NPP, Prince Obeng, the former president acknowledged the party’s recent electoral defeat but called for renewed unity and purpose.

“Political parties win or lose elections. Yes, we have lost an election. But I know we can come back,” Akufo-Addo said during a meeting with NPP constituency organisers from the Greater Accra Region.

“We should stop feeling sorry for ourselves. Let’s pick ourselves up, reorganise, and go forward as one”, the former president was quoted by Obeng as saying.

“We should behave like we believe we can win back the trust of the people for 2028″, Akufo-Addo added.

The visit formed part of internal consultations ahead of proposed constitutional amendments in the party, with the delegation pushing for a clearer definition of the role of constituency organisers in the NPP’s constitution. The group appealed to the former president to champion the cause.

During the meeting, the organisers also expressed concerns about what they described as attempts by the current government to interfere with the judiciary—alleging a plot to suspend or remove the Chief Justice, a move they fear could erode constitutional safeguards, including presidential term limits.

While Akufo-Addo did not publicly address the claims, his broader message focused on party cohesion and the path toward political recovery.

His remarks were described as “profound and inspiring” by members of the delegation.

The visit comes at a time of reflection for the NPP, as the party strategises its future following a defeat in the last general elections.

Now a leading member of the Movement for Change, Mr. Adorye has vowed to quit politics if the NPP obtains more than 28% in the 2028 election.

The tough spoken politician made the bold declaration on Adom FM Dwaso Nsem, stating he will never return to the NPP.

According to him, he will continue to take the NPP’s attention while making the election victory a cool chop for the National Democratic Congress(NDC).

“Who said I will return to the NPP? I will continue to take their attention while the NDC wins. I’m proud they lost the elections and I have vowed that if they secure more than 28% in the 2028 election, I will quit politics,” he declared.

The Electoral Commission (EC) declared John Mahama the winner of the 2024 presidential election.

He secured 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55% of the valid ballots cast. His main contender, Dr. Bawumia, garnered 4,657,304 votes, amounting to 41.61%.

NPP will never know why they lost the 2024 Election – Tanko-Computer http://34.58.148.58/npp-will-never-know-why-they-lost-the-2024-election-tanko-computer/ Wed, 23 Apr 2025 16:09:56 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2528008 The Director of Elections and Information Technology for the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Rashid Tanko-Computer, has stated that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) will never understand the reasons behind their landslide defeat in the 2024 general elections.

“These people (NPP), up until now, still do not know why they lost the election, and I am happy they are still trying to figure it out. Even after the report presented by Prof. Mike Oquaye, they still do not know why they lost. You see? They don’t know, and they will not know,” he said on JoyNews’ The Pulse on Wednesday, April 23.

Dr. Tanko-Computer’s comments followed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s recent statement that the party’s defeat was due to voter apathy among its supporters, rather than any religious factors.

Dr. Tanko-Computer added that the NDC is working hard to retain power in the 2028 elections, saying, “We are preparing 30% for them in 2028, and thank God, we are moving in the right direction.”

Nana Akomea reacts to Mussa Dankwah’s post-election survey [Listen] http://34.58.148.58/nana-akomea-reacts-to-mussa-dankwahs-post-election-survey-listen/ Thu, 17 Apr 2025 17:22:27 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2526513 The Vice Chairman of the 2024 Bawumia Campaign Team, Nana Akomea, has stated that they are ready to engage with the Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah, regarding his findings on the 2024 election.

In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Nana Akomea, who is also the former Managing Director of the State Transport Corporation, expressed the team’s desire to understand the methodologies and basis behind the findings.

“We will approach him for the details to understand what we can learn from it, especially since one of his surveys revealed that about 60% of Ghanaians prefer Bawumia in the next elections. It’s important that we understand these details and be guided accordingly,” he stated.

This comes after the release of Dankwah’s survey, which attributed the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general elections to key figures within the party.

Dankwah explained that the initial phase of the study allowed respondents to freely mention who they believed was responsible for the NPP’s loss.

The report highlighted former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta as the second-most blamed figure, with 40% of respondents attributing the defeat to his management of the economy.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s 2024 presidential candidate and then-Vice President, was cited by 37% of respondents, who felt his campaign lacked sufficient inspiration.

Other figures mentioned included Dr. Matthew Opoku-Prempeh (33%), various government appointees (32%), and Members of Parliament (25%). Kennedy Agyapong, who contested the NPP flagbearer race but did not lead the party into the general election, was blamed by 9% of respondents.

The team then used the most frequently mentioned names to design a more structured, close-ended survey.

Although Nana Akomea admitted that the findings might be unclear, he emphasized the need for further engagement to better understand the survey and gain clarity on its implications.

It would have taken a miracle for NPP to win 2024 election – Adwoa Safo [Listen] http://34.58.148.58/it-would-have-taken-a-miracle-for-npp-to-win-2024-election-adwoa-safo-listen/ Wed, 19 Mar 2025 07:10:30 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2516334 Former Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would have needed a miracle to secure victory in the 2024 general election.

According to her, the party failed to address the pressing concerns of Ghanaians, which ultimately led to its defeat.

“Governance and elections are like studying for an exam. If governance is good, the results will be positive and vice versa. If we had been careful, we wouldn’t have experienced what happened to us,” she said.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Adwoa Safo noted that at some point, the NPP disregarded the concerns of the people, making it evident to politically analytical minds that victory was unlikely.

“In politics, when you fail to listen to the people, the consequences are clear. If you assess the situation critically, you will know it would have taken a miracle for us to win the election,” she added.

She, however, defended the party’s 2024 flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, insisting that he should not be blamed for the electoral defeat.

“Because he wasn’t the President then, though part of the government, there was little he could do. When he raised issues, not everything was acted upon,” she explained.

The former Gender Minister also expressed disappointment over the state of road infrastructure in the Ashanti Region, which is considered the party’s stronghold.

“I was disappointed with the nature of roads during the campaign. At a point, the bus couldn’t ply the roads, so we had to use Land Cruisers—yet we call it our stronghold. We don’t need a soothsayer to tell us to develop the Ashanti Region, which is our base,” she stated.

Despite these challenges, Adwoa Safo expressed confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s leadership, describing him as the right choice for the party moving forward.

Her comments come at a time when the NPP is still awaiting the findings of the Prof. Mike Oquaye-led committee investigating the causes of the electoral defeat.

We lost 2024 elections spiritually – NPP claims [Video] http://34.58.148.58/we-lost-2024-elections-spiritually-npp-claims-video/ Thu, 23 Jan 2025 09:14:42 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2496183 The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has attributed its humiliating defeat in the December 2024 general elections to what it describes as a spiritual influence.

According to the party’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, there were inexplicable occurrences on the day of the election that suggest a spiritual dimension to the outcome.

Mr. Kodua highlighted the unusually low voter turnout among NPP supporters across the country, a situation he believes cannot be explained by conventional means.

In an interview with Ashh FM, excerpts of which were shared by a Facebook user named Yaw Koshievi, he (Justin Kodua Frimpong) attributed the party’s poor performance in the elections to various factors, including spiritual influences.

“It was as though our members decided not to vote,” he remarked. “In all sixteen regions, it was as if NPP supporters had made an agreement not to cast their votes. This is highly unusual and cannot be attributed to regular political reasons.”

During the interview, Kodua expressed concern that some pastors who traditionally offer spiritual support to the NPP had withdrawn their backing due to internal tensions and anger.

“I appeal to the pastors who intercede for us,” he said. “A lot of spiritual machinations occurred ahead of the 2024 elections. Things took place in the spiritual realm, which I believe influenced the outcome. Many pastors and women of prayer, who should have been praying for us, withheld their support because of anger, and that definitely impacted the results.”

Rev. Owusu Bempah, a well-known prophet and previous NPP supporter, had publicly prophesied that the party would suffer a major defeat, even going so far as to claim that spiritual forces would ensure the party’s defeat.

His prediction came true with the NDC flagbearer, John Mahama, winning the election by a significant margin.

The final results of the election, confirmed by the Electoral Commission on December 9, 2024, saw Mahama securing 6,328,397 votes, or 56.55% of the valid votes, while his closest rival, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP, received 4,657,304 votes, or 41.61%.

The NDC also triumphed in parliamentary elections, claiming 183 seats to hand the NPP just 88 seats.

JoyNews Poll: Akufo-Addo, his govt’s ‘killer’ taxes and nepotism blamed for NPP’s 2024 defeat http://34.58.148.58/joynews-poll-akufo-addo-his-govts-killer-taxes-and-nepotism-blamed-for-npps-2024-defeat/ Thu, 16 Jan 2025 06:31:28 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2493491 A survey conducted by Joy News through its social media platforms has delivered a damning verdict on former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, holding him largely responsible for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) stunning defeat in the December 2024 election.

The survey, which sought public views on factors contributing to the NPP’s shocking loss, revealed that the majority of respondents blamed former President Akufo-Addo, citing his government’s harsh economic policies, nepotism, corruption, and the arrogance of some of his appointees as key reasons for the party’s defeat in both the presidential and parliamentary elections.

Akufo-Addo to Blame
The most common sentiment expressed by respondents was criticism of former President Akufo-Addo, who was widely accused of failing to take adequate action, ultimately causing the NPP’s flagbearer and parliamentary candidates to suffer for his administration’s shortcomings.

Many respondents particularly criticized the former President for endorsing harsh and insensitive economic policies such as the e-levy, betting tax, COVID-19 levy, and poor debt management strategies.

Additionally, he was accused of shielding his cousin, former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, despite widespread criticism of his handling of the economy. Respondents highlighted that his delayed removal was perceived as a failure in leadership.

Nana Akufo-Addo was also criticized for his perceived arrogance, with many referring to instances where he reportedly instructed chiefs to stand to greet him, an action which some respondents felt disrespected traditional authorities and angered the electorate.

Several respondents further accused the former President of causing apathy within the NPP by refusing to heed internal advice and make timely changes in his government. This, they said, denied opportunities to deserving party members and created dissatisfaction among the grassroots.

The refusal to remove Ken Ofori-Atta as Finance Minister, despite overwhelming calls from NPP MPs and ordinary Ghanaians, was cited as evidence of his unresponsiveness to public concerns.

Exorbitant Taxes
Beyond personal criticism, many respondents slammed certain policies under Akufo-Addo’s administration, claiming they brought economic hardship on Ghanaians.

Central to their concerns were taxes such as the e-levy, COVID-19 levy, and the betting tax, along with the government’s debt management approach.

Both former President Akufo-Addo and ex-Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta faced strong criticism for these policies, which were described as contributing significantly to the party’s unpopularity, even among its own supporters.

Arrogant Appointees, Corruption & the ‘Clearing Agent’ Tag
Some respondents also criticized government appointees, accusing them of being arrogant and inaccessible, which they argued alienated them from the electorate and caused further disaffection for the party.

Corruption was another major theme, with several respondents revisiting scandals from the Akufo-Addo administration. Many pointed to the former President’s reputation as a “clearing agent,” a nickname he earned for exonerating appointees accused of corruption without proper investigations.

Neglect of Strongholds
The survey further highlighted dissatisfaction with the Akufo-Addo government’s neglect of key projects, particularly in the party’s strongholds such as the Ashanti Region, as well as parts of the Western and Bono/Ahafo Regions.

In the Ashanti Region, many respondents faulted Akufo-Addo for failing to prioritize major projects, especially the Suame Interchange, which they believed could have boosted the party’s fortunes.

Conclusion
In summary, most respondents who participated in the Joy News survey attributed the NPP’s defeat to former President Akufo-Addo’s leadership, blaming his administration’s policies and actions for the loss of both Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the presidential race and the unprecedented defeat of numerous NPP parliamentary candidates across the country.

Stop blaming others; we caused our own defeat – NPP Vice chair http://34.58.148.58/stop-blaming-others-we-caused-our-own-defeat-npp-vice-chair/ Wed, 15 Jan 2025 12:12:26 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2493234

The Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Constituency, John Kwame Duodu, popularly known as “Sir John,” has called on members to accept responsibility for their poor performance in the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

Sir John urged the NPP to move away from blame games and introspectively address the internal mistakes that led to the Party’s defeat.

“The NPP’s failure in the 2024 General Election was a result of our own mistakes. It is about time the Party did a candid self-introspection and corrected these wrongs ahead of the 2028 elections,” he stated.

Self-reflection Over Blame

Sir John emphasised the need for the Party, especially its leadership, to acknowledge their shortcomings and focus on fostering unity.

He noted that leaders entrusted with key positions in the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia administration should take responsibility for their roles in the Party’s defeat rather than shifting the blame.

His remarks come amidst widespread post-election finger-pointing within the Party. “True growth and progress can only be achieved by acknowledging and learning from our past mistakes,” Sir John added.

Caution Against Early Declarations

The outspoken NPP leader criticised members who are prematurely declaring their intentions to run for various national, regional, and constituency positions.

“It’s premature for Party leaders, who ought to know better, to be focused on the positions they envisage occupying in the upcoming internal elections, instead of helping the healing and reorganisation process after our unprecedented defeat,” Sir John opined.

He stressed that rushing into leadership contests without first addressing the causes of the 2024 defeat would be counterproductive.

Sir John commended the establishment of regional reconciliation committees, describing them as essential for addressing internal rivalries and maintaining unity within the Party.

Commendation for Dr. Bawumia’s Statesmanship

Sir John praised the NPP’s 2024 flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for his timely concession of defeat in the presidential election.

“Dr. Bawumia’s decision to concede early was a bold move, motivated by his desire to maintain peace and stability in Ghana,” Sir John remarked.

He urged politicians to emulate Dr. Bawumia’s statesmanship by prioritising the national interest over personal ambitions.

Gratitude to Campaign Teams

In concluding his statement, Sir John expressed deep appreciation to the Party’s campaign teams across all levels for their hard work and dedication.

He acknowledged their tireless efforts, stating, “Your commitment, perseverance, and sacrifices demonstrated the true spirit of the NPP, even in the face of an unexpected defeat.”

Sir John emphasised that the loyalty and hard work of the Party’s members form the backbone of the NPP and will be pivotal in rebuilding and repositioning the Party for future electoral success.

I’m in a difficult period – NPP General Secretary [Audio] http://34.58.148.58/im-in-a-difficult-period-npp-general-secretary-audio/ Mon, 13 Jan 2025 19:15:35 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2492473 The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua has said he is in a difficult period of his leadership.

This according to him stems from their defeat in the 2024 election as a ruling party.

In an interview on Asempa FM Ekosii Sen, JFK as he is popularly known disclosed he was dealing with a lot due to the electoral outcome.

But amidst his struggles, he looks up to God as he still cannot understand why the NPP lost and are yet to come to terms with it.

“As a party that lost an election, you are dealing with a lot psychologically, people saying all sort of things, the proposals and all reactions coming in is a lot but it is the works of God and He is the only one who understands and knows why things turned out this way,” he stated.

Mr Kodua noted he recognises and shares in the pain of the party supporters.

However, it was about time the party reflect on their defeat and learn lessons that will shape and guide them, leading to the 2028 election.

The NPP government failed in its bid for a third consecutive term in the December 7, 2024, general election.

The main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) secured a decisive victory, giving former president John Mahama a return to the presidency.

The party has since set up a committee to conduct a thorough post-mortem analysis of the party’s defeat in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

The committee would engage with party stakeholders and the general public to identify the factors and circumstances that led to the loss.

It will also examine the need for constitutional amendments and restructuring of the party’s internal decision-making processes, particularly regarding the election of presidential and parliamentary candidates, as well as party executives.

The former MP’s claim comes amidst the re-collation of disputed results.

“We have 281 polling stations in Ablekuma North. It was left with 62, and by the grace of God, the truth will stand.”

“I appreciate the justice system allowing us to collate the results, and I am firm in my stance. I want to put it on record that I will fight till the end because I know I won,” she stated confidently, “she vowed while speaking to journalists at the Electoral Commission (EC) office on Wednesday.”

Nana Akua Afriyie stressed that she had secured copies of all pink sheets from the polling stations, and they point to her resounding victory.

“I have all my 281 pink sheets scanned. I ensured this was done promptly, even before the gentleman arrived and disrupted the collation process by tearing materials from the Electoral Commission,” she said.

With only three polling stations outstanding, the aspirant expressed optimism that the odds are in her favor.

“Gradually, we are left with three polling stations. By the grace of God, I am leading comfortably, and that is where the fear lies,” she remarked, hinting at her opponents’ concerns about her apparent lead.

Meanwhile, the Returning Officer, Vincent Obeng, has withdrawn from the collation process and asked the EC to find a new person.

He cited the disagreement and other challenges that have marred and delayed the process.

Mr. Obeng explained that results from four out of seven polling stations had already been collated, leaving just three unaccounted for.

In a New Year message, Chairman Obia Nye Obia, as he is popularly known stated he takes responsibility for the electoral loss in the constituency.

He acknowledged that, electoral defeat is not a pleasant experience for any political party.

However, despite the NPP’s loss in both the parliamentary and presidential elections, they must be able to rise above their differences and bounce back stronger.

“A lot has happened and our expectations were not met but we should let go of our pain and disappointment. We should let go of the past and focus on the present and future because there is a lot more to be done,” he encouraged.

The Chairman noted that, people may have made unpleasant remarks amidst their pain but it was time to cease fire and focus on rebuilding.

“We must review what went wrong and also focus on a way to build our party again. A lot of people have served and it is our time now. Let us be focused and stay united,” he stated.

Chairman Addae added that, in due course, the constituency executives will meet to review lessons from the election to guide them in the future.

The NPP in Okaikwei North was poised to snatch the seat from the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) Theresa Awuni.

With incumbent Akuapem North MP, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei switching to lead the NPP in Okaikwei North, the party was convinced the grounds were fertile in their favour.

But at the end of the December 7 polls, Theresa Awuni garnered 28,363 votes, significantly surpassing Ama Dokua’s 20,627 votes.

High Court sets date to deliver verdict on NPP’s mandamus application http://34.58.148.58/high-court-sets-date-to-deliver-verdict-on-npps-mandamus-application/ Tue, 31 Dec 2024 12:32:17 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2489008 The High Court in Accra has set Wednesday, January 1, 2025, to deliver its verdict on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) mandamus application against the Electoral Commission (EC).

The decision on Tuesday, December 31, follows the Supreme Court’s order for re-hearing of the application by a new High Court judge.

The verdict on the case is therefore expected to be given by the court presided over by Justice Forson Baah Agyepong.

In court on Tuesday, the National Democratic Congress(NDC) lawyers and its parliamentary candidates in the four disputed constituencies argued that the mandamus application filed by the NPP is effectively an election petition disguised as a procedural request.

Lawyer Tameklo, contended that allegations such as intimidation and duress—cited by the EC as reasons for nullifying the election results—are substantive matters that fall under Sections 16 and 20 of PNDC Law 284 and require evidence to be resolved in court.

He asserted that, the case filed constitutes an election petition rather than a straightforward mandamus application.

However, Gary Nimako, counsel for the NPP parliamentary candidates, dismissed the NDC’s objection as misconceived.

He maintained that the NPP’s application is properly before the court and does not violate procedural rules.

Stop being crybabies – Benjamin Quashie to NPP over disputed parliamentary seats http://34.58.148.58/stop-being-crybabies-benjamin-quashie-to-npp-over-disputed-parliamentary-seats/ Tue, 31 Dec 2024 10:34:50 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2488956 The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Council of Elders Chair for South Africa, Benjamin Kofi Quashie, has called on the New Patriotic Party to stop being petty over the disputed parliamentary seats controversy.

His comments come amid the NPP’s allegations against the NDC following the party’s loss in both the presidential and parliamentary seats in the just-ended general elections, as well as their petition to the EC over the delayed parliamentary results of 12 constituencies.

In a conversation with Joy Prime’s KMJ on the Prime Morning Show, Mr. Quashie stated that the NPP’s reactions are a result of them being affected by the results.

He reminisced about how the NDC faced a similar situation during the 2016 and 2020 elections.

He said the NPP are more concerned about themselves than the country as a whole.

He told the NPP to accept the results peacefully and fairly. He emphasized on the fact that there is video evidence of EC officials declaring polling station results, and there is no need for the NPP to petition the commission.

“It’s something in the blood of the NPP that you feel that what’s right for you, you can talk about it, and what is right for the other person, they cannot talk about it. For 8 years, we’ve been under this impunity. For 8 years as a country, we’ve endured very arrogant leadership.

“What I’m saying is that the right thing has been done; results have been declared. There are videos of returning officers declaring those results. When they rushed to court, which they have always been doing, the judge even refused a play of those videos for him to know that the results have been declared. That didn’t happen.”

“All I’m saying is that let’s stop being crybabies when it affects us, thinking that we’re special kids, and then when it doesn’t affect us, it is nothing that should go on.”

When asked whether he thinks the NPP is being petty, Mr. Quashie responded, “Very petty,” suggesting that the NPP needs to conduct a proper assessment within the party because he feels they have yet to learn their lessons from the loss in the elections.

He furthered that if the NPP continues to tread the blame-game tangent and does not desist from the complaints and allegations, he does not foresee a better future for the party.

In addition, the chair of the SA Council of Elders mentioned that the NDC needs a viable opposition to help develop the country as a democratic state.

“So, if they wouldn’t get down from their high horses and make sure that we do things as a country, I don’t think that we’re going anywhere,” Mr. Quashie reiterated.

However, he believes that the will of the people stands, despite the court’s ruling and the EC’s adherence to all constitutional instruments governing elections.

2024 election: I was sidelined in NPP’s campaign – Owusu Bempah http://34.58.148.58/2024-election-i-was-sidelined-in-npps-campaign-owusu-bempah/ Tue, 24 Dec 2024 15:13:25 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2487428 A Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Ernest Owusu Bempah has alleged that he was sidelined in the campaign activities ahead of the 2024 election.

The FixingTheCountry Convener said he was not assigned any specific role but had to leverage his expertise to support the party.

This according to him contributed to the NPP’s defeat, particularly in the Ashanti region where he claims to have over two million loved ones and could have garnered votes.

“Some of us were sidelined in the whole campaign operations. I was just following the bandwagon because I am a national executive. I wasn’t assigned to any specific role to play. Someone like me, who has about 2 million followers in the Ashanti region, was sidelined,” he bemoaned.

Mr Bempah expressed his frustration in an interview on Accra-based Okay FM.

“Even when I am on a campaign platform, they do not invite me to talk. If you look at the young politicians, I am the best political strategist in the country. Strategy is very key in politics.

“As a political party, you need to be strategic. You are campaigning in an election and you think that bantering Sammy Gyamfi on radio and TV will win you an election? You’ll be making a terrible mistake,” he stated.

He added all attempts to draw the attention of party leadership to the seeming apathy in the Ashanti region which he observed six months before the election proved futile.

“Even one month to election, when you call the leadership of the party to complain that there is apathy in the Ashanti region, no one picks your calls. Those who will pick your call will also do that after trying to reach them for over a month,” he added.

NPP worked but only God knows why we lost – Wontumi [Audio] http://34.58.148.58/npp-worked-but-only-god-knows-why-we-lost-wontumi-audio/ Fri, 20 Dec 2024 19:22:12 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2486294 Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Wontumi remains steadfast despite their defeat in the 2024 election.

Chairman Wontumi said the NPP worked effortlessly in its quest to retain power.

However, only God knows the reason the NPP suffered the extent of defeat in both the parliamentary and presidential elections.

In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, programme Friday, Chairman Wontumi said the NPP will not lose hope but rather, put their house in order and come back stronger in 2028.

“I encourage everyone to be strong and learn lessons from this and everything will be alright,” he assured.

Despite its 85% target, the NPP suffered a humiliating defeat in the Ashanti Region, which is considered the party’s stronghold, in both the presidential and parliamentary elections.

The party managed to obtain 1,366,800 votes, representing 63.9 percent of the 2,106,108 valid votes cast.

Additionally, it lost four constituencies to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), increasing the NDC’s seats in the region to eight.

Many have attributed the performance to apathy and lower voter turnout but the regional leadership has announced plans to probe the abysmal performance.

The laws must work; re-collation must happen – NPP  http://34.58.148.58/the-laws-must-work-re-collation-must-happen-npp/ Fri, 20 Dec 2024 15:45:17 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2486153 A Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Haruna Mohammed, has stated that the Electoral Commission’s (EC) decision to re-collate parliamentary results for some disputed constituencies must happen.

According to him, Ghana is not a banana republic and the law must therefore work.

Haruna said this on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen that the NPP is waiting on the Inspector General of Police(IGP) Dr George Akuffo Dampare to deploy security.

“I am not frustrated but the laws must work. The NDC have taken the laws into their hands and the security have thrown their hands in disarray.

“Somebody is put in charge of the election security taskforce. The IGP is the head and he is sleeping and snoring on his job. The court has given orders and consequential orders. So we are waiting on the IGP to deploy security. The collation must happen,” he stated.

Haruna further condemned the NDC youth who were involved in vandalizing election materials and burning pink sheets that had been securely stored in boxes, awaiting collation at various centres.

He questioned why the NDC will embark on such illegality despite their overwhelming victory in the election.

“The NPP are not cowards. We’re not afraid of them. Ghanaians have given them the power to lead so they should govern peacefully. We lost elections and came out to concede peacefully but why should the NDC go about creating chaos? What at all do they want?” he quizzed.

However, the NDC Deputy Director of IT and Elections, Dr Rashid Tanko Computer who also spoke on the same show, declared, “We won’t allow this kind of precedent to be set.”

At a news conference on Thursday, December 19, the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa justified its decision and appealed to the government to offer it maximum security to complete the process.

There have been calls for the EC to allow persons in the constituencies where the results are being disputed to go to court as the law stipulates.

But the Commission insists the laid down processes for the collation and declaration were inconclusive, and therefore it is mandated to complete those processes.

Meanwhile, the High Court on Friday ordered the re-collation of the disputed results.

EC’s decision on disputed parliamentary seats apt – Haruna Mohammed http://34.58.148.58/ecs-decision-on-disputed-parliamentary-seats-apt-haruna-mohammed/ Fri, 20 Dec 2024 13:30:57 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2486061 A Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Haruna Mohammed, has described as apt the Electoral Commission’s decision to re-collate parliamentary results for some disputed constituencies in the just-ended election.

While the Commission has been asked to allow persons in disagreement with the declarations in some nine constituencies to go to court as the law stipulates, the Commission insists the laid down processes for the collation and declaration were inconclusive, and therefore it is mandated to complete those processes.

At a news conference on Thursday, December 19, the EC justified its decision and appealed to the government to offer it maximum security to complete the process.

But speaking on Joy News’ AM Show, the Deputy NPP General Secretary condemned the actions of NDC youth who have been involved in vandalizing election materials and burning pink sheets that had been securely stored in boxes, awaiting collation at various centres.

According to Mr Mohammed, not all nine constituencies have had their results declared, as some are still in the process of collation. He explained that these areas are being disrupted by violent individuals.

“These processes are being attacked by those who seek to disrupt the integrity of the election,” he said, condemning the interference by these groups.

He noted that in constituencies where declarations had already been made, the Electoral Commission had acted upon requests from political parties, especially the NDC. He explained that members of the NDC were put in a position where they had to choose between their safety and their political positions. This, he suggested, added to the complexity of the situation.

“This is not the country that we know,” Mr Mohammed remarked, expressing concern about the unfolding events. “This is not the democracy we have all nurtured.” Despite the ongoing disturbances, he expressed confidence that the Electoral Commission’s decision was the right one to ensure that the election process remains fair and transparent.

With tensions escalating,  Mr Mohammed emphasized the need for increased security as a way to safeguard the electoral process and prevent further disruption.

He also warned that the NDC, a party he believes does not respect the rule of law or democratic values, threatens the very foundations of Ghana’s political system. “They want to destroy everything in the country,” he said.

Two million NPP supporters did not turn up to vote – Kabiru Mahama http://34.58.148.58/two-million-npp-supporters-did-not-turn-up-to-vote-kabiru-mahama/ Thu, 19 Dec 2024 07:57:46 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2485462 Technical Advisor to the Vice President and Member of Parliament-elect for Walewale, Dr. Tiah Kabiru Mahama, has alleged that no less than two million New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters failed to vote in the 2024 election.

Speaking on JoyNews AM Show December 17, Dr. Mahama explained that the NPP’s failure to mobilise its supporters was one of the key reasons for their loss.

“In reality,” he said, “it was the NPP that handed the mandate to the NDC (National Democratic Congress) because many of our own people chose not to vote due to dissatisfaction and frustration”, he said.

Kabiru Mahama described how most of these disappointed voters didn’t see the NDC as a real alternative. “They had their problems with the NPP, but they didn’t believe the NDC was the answer,” he noted. As a result, these supporters stayed home on election day instead of casting their ballots.

He pointed out that many voters felt disconnected from both parties, which led to widespread voter apathy.

The two million votes lost by the NPP, Dr. Mahama stressed, was a critical factor in the final result.

“Despite the NPP’s attempts to engage its base, including launching the “Go TV” (Get Out the Vote) campaign, it became clear that the absence of these voters sealed the party’s fate. “We were very clear in our minds that if we were to lose, it would be because of voter apathy,” he remarked.

Kabiru Mahama further explained that although the NPP had strategies in place to increase voter turnout, the efforts were insufficient.

The party’s message failed to reach enough of its supporters, and many of them didn’t find either the NPP or the NDC appealing enough to vote for.

“Our people didn’t feel inspired to vote,” he added. This disengagement among the NPP’s base was a major contributor to the loss of nearly two million votes, which ultimately led to the party’s defeat.

The NPP’s Go TV campaign was designed to counteract this problem by encouraging supporters to get out and vote.

However, despite the clear warning signs and a focused effort to address voter apathy, the party’s failure to rally enough supporters was a significant setback. The NPP’s leaders recognised early on that the election could be lost due to a low voter turnout, but the party was unable to overcome the lack of enthusiasm among its core supporters. he said.

“The more we could get our people to vote, the greater our chances of winning,” he said.

The General Secretary of the party, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey noted that the election transcended ordinary politics, reflecting the frustration and disillusionment of Ghanaians with the incumbent administration.

In an interview on JoyNews‘ Upfront on Wednesday, he argued that the election represented a spiritual and moral reckoning for the NPP government, which he accused of inflicting widespread economic pain on the populace.

Mr Kwetey characterized the election as a spiritual battle, asserting that the NPP’s actions had created “massive vertical energy” aimed at humiliating them.

“This election was beyond politics. It was about the soul of Ghana versus the NPP,” he said, adding that the outcome reflected the collective will of a nation seeking change.

He noted that the “hand of God had long departed” from the NPP, citing the government’s failure to accept responsibility for Ghana’s economic challenges and its reliance on external excuses such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war.

“A government that inflicts so much economic pain, shows deception, and refuses to accept responsibility cannot expect blessings,” he said.

2024 election: NPP leadership should resign or we sack them – Former MP http://34.58.148.58/2024-election-npp-leadership-should-resign-or-we-sack-them-former-mp/ Tue, 17 Dec 2024 11:36:12 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2484700 Former New Patriotic Party(NPP) MP for Obuasi East, Edward Ennin has registered his frustration at the hierarchy of the party over their abysmal performance in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

Mr Ennin said he expects the leadership to resign or be sacked from office although they were duly elected to serve for a certain period.

According to him, they went into the elections with a weak campaign and did not have a proper plan but the leadership did not do enough to salvage the situation.

He made this revelation on Adom FM’s Burning Issues as he shed more light on what caused the party’s humiliating defeat.

“Looking at the disgrace our executives have brought upon us, I think they should be resigning by now, but if they fail, we can sack them from their positions and hand over the party and put proper administrative measures in place for it to look good to all,” he stated.

The tough-spoken politician noted that there was apathy among supporters following what he described as “mafia” tactics displayed during the internal elections

He added that, due process was not followed and procedures laid down by party leaders favoured some group of candidates preferred by the executives.

As a result, all candidates who lost including their supporters did not help in the campaign neither did they vote, affecting the party heavily.

When Mr Ennin was asked by show host, Akua Boakyewaa Yiadom on what can be done going forward, he said the only option is to reclaim the party from the hands of the current leaders to make it more attractive.

“The leaders of the party have created division, apathy among the party members and have lost touch with the base so it about time we sack them and reclaim the party and hand it over to people to act till we go for elections to choose new ones,” he said.

Mr Ennin further asserted that former Chairman, Paul Afoko and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong who were sacked from post in 2016 due to internal matters were better leaders than the current crop of leadership.

The Managing Director of the State Transport Corporation had earlier revealed the NPP foresaw the victory of former President Mahama.

However, he has indicated the NPP’s loss is his biggest disappointment.

“No, I haven’t recovered. The main reason for my struggle is the lost opportunity. I still believe Bawumia has the best ideas for turning the country around. That is my biggest disappointment,” he said in an interview on Accra-based Citi FM.

The NPP was confident about retaining power with its candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in what they termed as breaking the eight agenda.

However, the expectation was cut short in both the presidential and parliamentary election.

At the end of polls and the official declaration by the Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson on Monday, December 9, former President John Mahama emerged victorious.

Mahama polled 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55 percent of the vote while Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia secured 4,657,304 votes or 41.61 percent of the total votes cast.

The election turnout and the margin of victory have left the NPP seeking answers.

NPP MP proposes reforms after 2024 election defeat [Video] http://34.58.148.58/npp-mp-proposes-reforms-after-2024-election-defeat-video/ Mon, 16 Dec 2024 15:54:33 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2484380 Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru, Kennedy Osei Nyarko has called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to undertake strategic reforms following its defeat in the 2024 election.

These reforms are aimed at reorganising the NPP’s structure and the selection of its leadership.

In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday, Mr Nyarko expressed a strong conviction that the NPP’s defeat both in the presidential and parliamentary elections was not normal.

He therefore called on the party leadership has a matter of urgency to interrogate the root cause despite the belief that the NPP suffered apathy.

The MP among other things proposed that the party must run as an organization by appointing or recruiting a top-notch secretary (administrator) to run the national secretariat with supporting staff.

Also, the NPP should abolish all internal elections except for the flagbearer race.

By this, the elected flagbearer on his own will set up officials both at the national and regional levels to assist the campaign for the general election.

“Parliamentary elections will also go through same process as the flagbearer after which the PC will appoint his or her own team to run the constituency campaign.
“The PC together with Constituency Campaign team must invite volunteers and mobilisers at every polling station or at the grassroots to lead the campaign at the polling stations with the supervision from the constituency team,” he detailed.
In essence, these proposals he emphasised if adopted will eliminate or minimise the monetization of internal elections completely.
He added that, it will also create sense of responsibility and belongingness among all party members or sympathizers within the party.

Miracles Aboagye blames NPP’s defeat on low turnout of member http://34.58.148.58/miracles-aboagye-blames-npps-defeat-on-low-turnout-of-member/ Sat, 14 Dec 2024 19:54:11 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2483857 The Director of Communications for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2024 general elections, Miracles Aboagye, has reiterated assertions that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lost the 2024 general election due to low voter turnout among its members.

Speaking on Joy News’ Newsfile a week after the general election, Aboagye explained that, based on the party’s data from previous elections, it was clear that most of their members failed to vote on December 7.

“One of the key reasons this result is as it is, according to the data, is that our people didn’t turn out to vote, and that is the fact,” he said.

He highlighted the voting statistics in various regions, stating, “The data is there. If you put emotions aside and analyse it across all the regions: In 2020, the NPP had 145,000 votes in the Ahafo region; in 2024, we had 113,000. The NDC had 116,000 in 2020 and 130,000 in 2024. In Greater Accra, the NPP had 1,253,179 votes in 2020, and the NDC had 1,326,489. But in 2024, the NPP had only 681,000, which is half of what we achieved in 2020.”

Aboagye emphasized that the loss could be attributed solely to the low turnout, with no other significant factors playing a role. He stressed that those NPP members who did not vote did not necessarily support John Mahama and the NDC.

Already, the NPP’s flagbearer and Vice President of the country, Dr Bawumia, has attributed the loss to a significant drop in the NPP’s vote share.

According to him, the NDC did not win the election outright, as their results from 2020 were almost similar to those in 2024.

“I want to encourage you all to see that we handed this election over to the NDC; they didn’t win it outright. Their numbers didn’t change from 2020. Ours have dropped by 40%, so the analysis is simple,” he stated.

He, however, noted that the NPP aims to return strongly in future elections.

NPP PCs spent an average of GH¢10m on campaigns – MP http://34.58.148.58/npp-pcs-spent-an-average-of-gh%c2%a210m-on-campaigns-mp/ Sat, 14 Dec 2024 19:03:51 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2483848 Member of Parliament for Anyaa-Sowutuom, Dr Dickson Adomako Kissi, has revealed that New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidates spent an average of GH¢10 million for their campaign activities in the 2024 election.

According to him, many candidates make these financial sacrifices to serve their constituents, only to be met with the harsh reality of defeat.

Dr Kissi revealed this on Accra-based ChannelOne TV, describing it as a painful investment as he expressed concerns over the stakes involved.

The lawmaker also expressed worry over the monetisation of politics, adding MPs and parliamentary candidates are burdened with unrealistic expectations.

“These are some of the challenges we have with our democracy. And I think that we may have to dial down. I was talking with Honourable Henry Quartey, and he felt that people were also demanding more than was doable from a lot of Ministers. But who caused it? The promises were many,” he noted.

According to Aboagye, the NPP is focused on rebuilding the party, and Dr Bawumia is the ideal person to lead it in the future and help the party regain victory.

“We are really praying and hoping that he comes to lead us in rebuilding, reorganizing, reflecting, and working towards recapturing power. The party is working to rebuild,” he said.

Aboagye further emphasized that Dr Bawumia’s contributions to the party and his key roles in governance make him the only person capable of strengthening the NPP once again.

“Everybody believes that he has applied himself very well. The party, and most of us, are waiting for him to make a firm decision. The party and even the people of this country acknowledge his hard work and dedication” he added.

He revealed that, the NPP is ready to rally behind Dr Bawumia should he decide to lead the party again.

“I can tell you that the party is on standby for him to make a firm decision. Once he decides that he is going to run again, be rest assured that the party will strongly rally behind him,” Aboagye said during Saturday’s Newsfile on Joy News.

The NPP, led by Dr Bawumia in the just-ended 2024 general elections, lost power to the main opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In the parliamentary poll, the NPP also performed poorly, securing just over 80 seats out of a total of 276 constituencies.

The NDC has already crossed 180 seats with some seats still outstanding due to disagreements. Also, the new parliament will have four independent MPs.

5 NPP parliamentary candidates demand collation and re-collation of results, insisting they won http://34.58.148.58/5-npp-parliamentary-candidates-demand-collation-and-re-collation-of-results-insisting-they-won/ Sat, 14 Dec 2024 18:09:56 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2483782 Five parliamentary candidates in the 2024 elections from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have petitioned the Electoral Commission (EC) to collate and re-collate the parliamentary results in their respective constituencies.

In their respective petitions dated Friday, December 13, 2024 and addressed to the Chairperson of the EC, the five parliamentary candidates insist that they were the rightful winners of the elections held in their constituencies.

While two of the candidates – Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah of Techiman South, and Nana Akua Owusu Afriyieh of Ablekuma North are demanding the collation of the parliamentary results, which they say had unduly delayed, the three others want the EC to re-collate the results on the basis that the initial collations were unlawful and in flagrant violation of electoral laws.

The three who are seeking the re-collation of the results are Charles Forson – Tema Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah – Okaikwei Central and Mike Aaron Oquaye Jnr- Dome -Kwabenya.

Techiman South

With regard to Techiman South, Mr Korsah is demanding the collation of the elections results, which had not been done despite polls closing almost a week ago.

He has therefore called on the Chairperson of the EC, Jean Mensa, to immediately direct the returning officer for the constituency to collate the election results and declare the winner.

“I am making a demand on you as the chair of the commission to direct the returning officer of the Techiman South Constituency to collate and declare the winner of the Techiman South parliamentary elections,” he said in the petition.

Ablekuma North

For Ablekuma North, Nana Akua Afriyieh claim after the close of polls on December 7, her representatives were attacked by some people, while others also snatched the EC’s copies of statement of results sheets (pink sheets).

The EC returning officer, she explained was also under duress to declare the results in favour of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate.

“I have attached the scanned copies of all 281 pink sheets, which show that I won the election with a margin of 411 votes. The results are as follows: Nana Akua Owusu Afriyich (NPP) – 34,610 votes, and Awurabena Aubunn (NDC) – 34,199 votes,” she said

“In view of the aforesaid, I am making a demand on your office to direct the Returning Officer for the Ablekuma North Constituency to collate and declare the Ablekuma North Constituency parliamentary election results within the provisions of the law,” she added.

Tema Central

Mr Forson, his petition is demanding a re-collation of the results , or what he described as “proper collation”

According to him, the initial collation, which led to the declaration of the NDC candidate – Ebi Bright as the winner , was done without the pink sheets from two polling stations.

“The votes from the two remaining polling stations when added will give me 18,870 votes as against the NDC 18,815 votes,” he said

“In view of the aforesaid, I am officially demading your good office to direct the Returning Officer for the Tema Central Constituency to properly collate and declare the Tema Central Constituency Parliamentary election results in accordance with law,” he added.

Okaikwei Central

Mr Boamah is also calling on the EC- to re collate the results or conduct “proper collation” on the basis that the previous collation was done without the full complement of the all the pink sheets from the polling stations

According to him, the returning officer for the constituency when declaring the results, excluded 31 polling stations.

“Based on the polling station results, pink sheets, and results as declared at the constituency collation center, I am the projected winner of the parliamentary election. The unlawful exclusion of the 31 polling stations at the regional collation center significantly impacted the outcome of the results,” he said in the petition.

Dome – Kwabenya

For Dome – Kwabenya, Mr Oquaye Jnr said the collation that led to the declaration of Elikplim Akurugu of the NDC as the winner, was done in flagrant violation of the electoral laws of the country as it was not done in his presence of that of his representatives.

Such an act, he insisted, was a breach of Regulations 43 (1) of the Public Elections Regulations, 2020 (C.I 127).

He is therefore demanding that the EC conduct what he terms as a “proper collation” for the constituency.

I don’t think Akufo-Addo should be blamed for NPP’s defeat – Kennedy Nyarko [Audio] http://34.58.148.58/i-dont-think-akufo-addo-should-be-blamed-for-npps-defeat-kennedy-nyarko-audio/ Sat, 14 Dec 2024 09:21:15 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2483713 Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru, Kennedy Osei Nyarko has fought off assertions that President Akufo-Addo should be blamed for the New Patriotic Party‘s (NPP) defeat in the 2024 election.

Mr Nyarko has said he disagrees with such a school of thought, stating that Akufo-Addo was not solely responsible for governance.

Following the NPP’s humiliating defeat in the just-ended parliamentary and presidential election, Akufo-Addo has been blamed for the outcome.

Many have opined that the 2024 election was a punishment from Ghanaians against the Akufo-Addo-led government.

However, in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, the lawmaker acknowledged there were shortfalls, but all the blame cannot be placed on Akufo-Addo’s doorstep.

“He was not the only person running the government so do you think he will wish bad for his people. As a president, the interest of the nation is a priority to him.

“He takes advice from the people around him. I think if Akufo-Addo didn’t have the interest at heart, he would have been adamant about a lot of things look at the interventions he rolled out during the Covid-19 pandemic. The intention of the government is to protect lives and properties,” he explained.

He added that the defeat should be a lesson for the NPP going forward.

Reflecting on the calls for the dismissal of former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, the lawmaker noted it was in good faith without any ill motive.

NPP knew Mahama will win 2024 election – Nana Akomea [Video] http://34.58.148.58/npp-knew-mahama-will-win-2024-election-nana-akomea-video/ Sat, 14 Dec 2024 09:19:21 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2483711 Vice Chairman of the 2024 Bawumia Campaign Team, Nana Akomea has said the New Patriotic Party(NPP) foresaw the victory of former President John Mahama.

This according to him was based on internal research the New Patriotic Party (NPP) conducted ahead of the December 7 election.

The Managing Director of the State Transport Corporation(STC) revealed the research was conducted in February 2024 and the National Democratic Congress(NDC) flagbearer was leading by 10%.

Nana Akomea disclosed this on Accra-based Metro TV.

“By September or October, it had come down to about 2%. And so we were very confident. It was a new momentum so we knew that there was going to be a lot of apathy, a lot of disgruntlement among our supporters.

“Anything else would just be a projection and so on. So we knew that the monthly poll showed us clearly [Mahama’s victory], and for a massive 2 million people to stay away, it’s really massive and we have to find out why,” he said.

The Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson on Monday, December 9, officially declared the 2024 election results, announcing Mr Mahama as the winner.

He polled 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55 percent of the vote while Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia secured 4,657,304 votes or 41.61 percent of the total votes cast.

The election turnout and the margin of victory have left the NPP seeking answers to their defeat.

According to him, some people who have directly benefitted from the outgoing government were begged to go and cast their votes in the just-ended election.

The disgruntled lawmaker cited Free Senior High School (SHS) graduates and others who have also been gainfully employed.

Mr Nyarko expressed these concerns in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen.

He revealed that, he suffered such setbacks in his constituency and the feedback from some people he bemoaned was disheartening.

“Some of these people I was the one who helped them and I was shocked at what I was told was terrible,” he lamented.

Spiritual factors caused NPP’s defeat; it must be interrogated – MP [Video] http://34.58.148.58/spiritual-factors-caused-npps-defeat-it-must-be-interrogated-mp-video/ Fri, 13 Dec 2024 18:42:00 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2483572 The New Patriotic Party(NPP) Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru, Kennedy Osei Nyarko, has expressed pain over their defeat in the 2024 election.

Mr Nyarko has said the outcome of the election is abnormal and the NPP must seek answers.

He said this on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, suggesting the NPP shouldn’t mind going spiritual in its quest to find answers.

The legislator acknowledged there was a low voter turnout and apathy just like in previous elections but the incident in 2024 is rare.

“I don’t see this outcome to be normal and it must be interrogated. I don’t see it to be too physical. It will be difficult for the same trend to be recovered in all 276 constituencies. Going into an election is not just about campaigns but you pray and do all what needs to be done,” he said.

According to him, if it was just for campaign activities, none of the candidates could match the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

“He engaged the youth, market women and touched base with the people not even President Akufo-Addo embarked on such campaigns in the past. Not even Mahama campaigned like Bawumia. Some of the prophets even spoke of so many spiritual factors ahead of the election,” he added.

Titus Glover blames media for NPP’s defeat in Greater Accra region [Audio] http://34.58.148.58/titus-glover-blames-media-for-npps-defeat-in-greater-accra-region-audio/ Mon, 09 Dec 2024 10:23:53 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2481366 The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover has blamed the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) defeat in the region on the media.

According to him, the media through its reportage embarked on campaigns against the NPP, affecting their electoral gains.

The former Tema East Member of Parliament (MP) made these remarks in an interview on Adom FM/TV as part of post election analysis.

“I acknowledge one or two things accounted for the defeat. Most of the media stations are in Accra so it becomes worrying when some outlets decide to criticise everything. Some media houses did not help us at all.

“Two days to election, Joy FM was reporting about galamsey amidst fierce criticisms. Indirectly, they were campaigning against the government,” he stated.

However, he noted the NPP respects the will of Ghanaians and will not give up on its break the 8 agenda and will bounce back stronger.

The NPP before the just-ended election held 14 out of the total 34 seats, while the National Democratic Congress (NDC) holds 20.

The NPP Regional Chairman, Divine Agorhom was confident the party would reclaim all lost seats, setting a target of 21.

However, after the end of polls, the NPP suffered a setback, losing many of the seats it had.

Even though the Electoral Commission(EC) is yet to official declare the 2024 election results, the NDC claims to have won 30 out of the 32 seats.

The National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, at a press conference on Sunday, 8 December said the assertion is based on its internal collation of results from polling stations across the region.

He explained that, NDC polling agents had meticulously collected and submitted data, which the party believes demonstrates its dominance in the region.

According to him, the party should not see the loss as the end of the world but rather as an opportunity to learn lessons.

“This is a moment for sober reflection and learning from our mistakes. We must take this as an opportunity to rebuild and come back stronger,” he said.

In an interview with Accra-based ChannelOneTV, Mr Manu admonished the rank and file to accept the results in good faith if it does not go their way.

He urged the party to focus on regaining the trust and goodwill of the Ghanaian people.

“It’s two things you either win or you lose, we have been in an election before and lost. It is for us to retreat, go back and look at what went wrong, a postmortem and stuff like that

It is a big deal that we have lost because we went into the election to win,” he added.

NPP calls for recount in Ejura Sekyeredumase constituency http://34.58.148.58/npp-calls-for-recount-in-ejura-sekyeredumase-constituency/ Sun, 08 Dec 2024 06:03:19 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2480859 Sulamana Issifu, a member of the New Patriotic Party’s legal team for the Ejura Sekyeredumase Constituency in the Ashanti region, has called for a complete recount of ballot papers from all 177 polling stations.

This follows concerns raised by the NPP regarding alleged manipulation of the ballot papers and irregularities during the elections.

In a press briefing held after the elections, the legal team accused the Electoral Commission (EC) of committing serious errors. Issifu stated that ballot papers had been tainted with manipulated pink sheets.

“The elections in Ejura, which were supposed to be free and fair, have been marred by numerous mistakes, some of which the EC has admitted to. They [EC] have acknowledged that they made significant errors, and these mistakes go to the heart of the integrity of the elections,” Issifu said.

Issifu, speaking to the media, made it clear that the NPP rejects the election results in the constituency. He further revealed that the party had formally petitioned the Electoral Commission, insisting that until a full recount is conducted, they will not accept the provisional results released by the EC.

He also alleged incidents of violence and ballot snatching in areas considered strongholds of the NPP. Issifu claimed that the military had to intervene to restore order in some locations.

Furthermore, Issifu claimed that the EC had confirmed that, in some instances, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had received a score of zero, while the NPP had recorded figures.

“The EC called us a few moments ago and told us that there were places where the NDC was given zero, while some figures were recorded for the NPP. These were described as transpositional errors,” he explained.

He emphasized that, due to the alleged tampering with the pink sheets, the NPP rejected the numbers recorded on them.

Meanwhile, the NDC has rejected calls for a recount. A member of the party’s legal team, Stanley Tweneboah Kodua Gyamfi, told the press that per the laws governing the elections, recounting can only be done at the polling station and not at the collation centre.

We’ll win 99 seats in six regions – NPP MP declares http://34.58.148.58/well-win-99-seats-in-six-regions-npp-mp-declares/ Fri, 06 Dec 2024 14:30:43 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2480191 Member of Parliament(MP) for Effiduase-Asokore, Dr Nana Ayew Afriyie has declared that the New Patriotic Party(NPP) will win 99 seats in six regions in the December 7 election.

The Middle-Belt Coordinator for the Bawumia Campaign is confident the 99 seats will include 15 new constituencies.

Dr Afriyie expressed his optimism while addressing journalists with barely 24 hours to the election.

“We have put all the necessary structures in place to secure a resounding win in both the presidential and parliamentary elections.

“We can state emphatically that after an exhaustive and comprehensive campaign across all the 6 regions, the NPP is set to win a total of 99 seats in Ashanti, Eastern, Bono East, Ahafo, Western North and Eastern Regions,” he stated.

Hon. Ayew Afriyie outlined the party’s strategy, revealing five major indicators driving their optimism in the middle belt.

Among these is the goal of flipping key constituencies, including the Tain Constituency, the home of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairman, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia.

The MP further projected 51% of total votes for the NPP in the middle belt.

Dr Ayew admitted the party faced some setbacks during their campaign but prevailed due to hard work.

Meanwhile, he urged all Ghanaians to go out in their numbers and vote massively for the NPP.

“We want to assure all Ghanaians, especially voters in the 6 regions under the middle belt zone that they have nothing to worry about because their security is fully assured, they must go to their polling stations and cast their ballots for the NPP and Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia without fear or intimidation,” he said.

2024 election: It’ll be difficult for NPP to get 76% votes in Ashanti region http://34.58.148.58/2024-election-itll-be-difficult-for-npp-to-get-76-votes-in-ashanti-region/ Fri, 06 Dec 2024 12:34:23 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2480154 A Senior Research fellow in Public Sector Economics, Dr George Domfeh, has stated that it will be difficult for the New Patriotic Party(NPP) to poll 76% votes in the Ashanti region in the 2024 election on Saturday, December 7.

However, Dr Domfeh has predicted the NPP stands a chance to obtain 70% votes in their stronghold.

Dr Domfeh made the remarks on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Friday in connection with a survey conducted by the Institute of Progressive Governance (IPG).

He asserted that the evolving political landscape other factors will make it difficult for the party to reach this goal.

“Some people who had said they won’t vote are now even actively campaigning so if that should happen and people vote for the NPP, they may get 70% votes. They suffered a dip but maybe Bawumia’s return to the region has redefined the situation.

“At the time of the survey, they had 61% votes and 15% of the electorate were undecided so even if all these people decide to vote for the NPP, they can obtain 70% but it will be difficult for them to cross 76%,” he explained.

The NPP particularly its Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, is optimistic they will secure 85% of the votes.

Generally, the survey projected that if elections were held between October 15 and November 15, the NPP would have won with 50.2%.

The research also showed that NDC flagbearer, John Mahama would have garnered 47.3% in the elections while the other presidential candidates collectively would have got 2.5%.

According to the survey, regions likely to be won by the NDC are Greater Accra, Western North, Upper East, Upper West, Savannah, Volta, Oti, Bono East and Northern.

The NPP would have also won North East, Bono, Ahafo, Western, Central, Eastern and Ashanti regions if elections were being held within the times the research was conducted.

Nana B’s narrative on different voting days for various presidential candidates false http://34.58.148.58/nana-bs-narrative-on-different-voting-days-for-various-presidential-candidates-false/ Thu, 05 Dec 2024 12:04:31 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2479560 Claim: Henry Nana Boakye claims that the various presidential candidates will be voted for on separate voting days.

Verdict: False. Article 46 of the Constitution of Ghana mandates the Electoral Commission of Ghana to organise presidential and parliamentary elections, and the Commission, through its Constitutional Instruments, has declared that both Presidential and Parliamentary elections will be held on Dec. 7, 2024.

Full Text

Ghana has less than three days to go to the polls. Political campaigns have intensified. As Political figures and leaders try to convince voters to support their candidates, electoral misinformation and disinformation are not left out.

In a viral video, Henry Nana Boakye, the NPP’s national organiser, asserted that the various presidential candidates will have separate voting days.

“So please, John Mahama is not part of the voting on the 7th,” he asserted in Twi on a radio program on Wontumi FM, as posted here on X.

Similarly, another individual on the same platform asserted that the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has planned to conduct the election for the first seven candidates on the ballot paper on Dec. 7, while the other candidates will be voted for on different days.

“Because there are many people, the election has been divided into two: we are voting for some people, and then we will vote for others later. We are voting for the first seven candidates first.

“So this is the arrangement: we are voting for the number one on the ballot, Dr Bawumia, on 7th Dec., at 7 am before the others. We may vote for the others the following days,” he asserted on Wontumi Television.

Party communicators of the NPP have propagated a similar narrative on the same media platform. Find here.

Such videos with these narratives have the potential to misinform and disinform, as well as disenfranchise social media users who may believe it. DUBAWA decided to investigate the claim.

Verification

It is necessary to establish what the Ghanaian electoral laws posit regarding voting days. Under Article 45(c) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, the EC is the only institution to conduct and supervise all public elections and referenda.

This is corroborated by Article 51, which empowers the EC  to make regulations to ensure they undertake their functions effectively.

The EC made the Public Elections Regulations, 2020 C. I 127, to regulate the conduct of elections in 2020 and beyond until it is revoked.

Regulation 4 (1) of the Public Elections Regulations, 2020 C. I. 127 states,

“For the purpose of a public election, the commission shall issue a writ of elections to the returning officer.”

“The writ shall be set out in Form One A and Form One E of the schedule and shall specify (a) the period and place for the nomination of candidates;  and  (b) the day on which the poll is to be taken,” sub-regulation 2 of the regulation 4 of the Public Elections Regulations, 2020 (C.I. 127) states.

In an official EC presser on Nov 24, 202, the commission reiterated that the date set out for the election 2024 is Dec. 7.

“Voters are reminded that voting on the 7th of December 2024 starts from 7 am until 5 pm,” the presser stated.

Conclusion

Article 45 (C) states that the EC is the only institution mandated to conduct and supervise all public elections and referenda.

The EC has stated emphatically that elections in 2024 will be held on Dec. 7 from 7 am to 5 pm. The narrative that the various candidates will have different voting days is false.

2024 election: Free SHS no longer resonates with Ghanaians – Prof. Kobby Mensah http://34.58.148.58/2024-election-free-shs-no-longer-resonates-with-ghanaians-prof-kobby-mensah/ Thu, 05 Dec 2024 10:37:48 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2479496 A senior lecturer at the University of Ghana, Professor Kobby Mensah has asserted that the New Patriotic Party(NPP) flagship free Senior High School(SHS) policy no longer resonates with Ghanaians going into the 2024 election.

The Political Marketing Strategist said the policy following its implementation in 2017 has had an opportunity to live.

In this regard, it will not create the same impact in the 2024 election.

“From digitalisation, they have now gone back to free SHS but it is no longer resonating with Ghanaians as it did in 2016 because the message had the opportunity to live. Even for commercial brands, they always try to bring freshness. So it was an ambition and by implementing it, people have experienced it,” he stated.

The Free SHS which many have touted as a major transformative policy has become a topical issue going into the general election.

President Akufo-Addo during a tour in the Western North Region on Tuesday, November 5, noted that over 5.7 million students have benefited since its launch.

With the policy a key campaign message for the NPP, party faithful are positive it will garner them massive votes since beneficiaries are eager to vote by way of saying thank you to the Akufo-Addo government.

However, Prof Mensah in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Thursday, said the NPP should have re-strategised in selling the Free SHS policy.

“Human beings are dynamic and once the experience starts, they will want new expectations. There should have been changes and going back to the Free SHS, you should look at the time and how you will re-model it to resonate it with the people again,” he said.

Don’t trade free SHS for NDC ‘bribes’ – Former MP cautions voters http://34.58.148.58/dont-trade-free-shs-for-ndc-bribes-former-mp-cautions-voters/ Wed, 04 Dec 2024 11:20:02 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2478999 Spokesperson for the Ashanti Heritage Platform (AHP) and former Member of Parliament for Manhyia North, Collins Owusu Amankwah has issued a strong plea to Ghanaians as the country heads into a crucial election this Saturday, December 7, 2024.

At a press conference in Kumasi on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, Mr.  Owusu Amankwah cautioned Ghanaians against being swayed by monetary promises being offered by the opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He emphasised the importance of making informed decisions that would not jeopardise the future of the country’s youth, particularly with regard to the free Senior High School (SHS) program.

“I urge all Ghanaians to be cautious. The NDC is offering money, but we must not compromise the future of our children for a mere 1,000,” Mr. Owusu Amankwaa warned.

His remarks come amidst reports that the NDC is attempting to win voters by making financial promises, especially in the lead-up to the 2024 general elections.

The free SHS programme, introduced by the current government, has been hailed as one of the most transformative policies in recent years, significantly improving access to secondary education for thousands of students across the country.

Mr. Owusu Amankwah added that a strong supporter of the policy expressed deep concern about the potential implications of an NDC victory.

“Voting for the NDC would put the Free SHS programme at risk. This programme has been transformative for countless Ghanaian families, and we cannot afford to lose it,” Owusu Amankwah asserted.

He emphasised that the initiative has enabled many young Ghanaians to pursue secondary education without the financial burdens that previously deterred them.

“For many families, the policy has been a lifeline, ensuring that their children have the opportunity to complete their education and build a better future”.

Pack your stuff and leave; you’ve failed – Mahama to NPP http://34.58.148.58/pack-your-stuff-and-leave-youve-failed-mahama-to-npp/ Fri, 29 Nov 2024 16:10:12 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2477442 The 2024 flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has urged Ghanaians to vote out the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the forthcoming elections, citing the severe economic hardships facing the nation.

He argued that the ruling party’s policies have exacerbated the challenges of ordinary citizens, making a case for a change in leadership.

Speaking to a large crowd of supporters in Ayawaso East in the Greater Accra Region, Mr. Mahama used the soaring price of kenkey, a staple Ghanaian dish, to highlight the worsening economic conditions.

He noted that the rising cost of basic food items reflected the government’s inability to manage the economy effectively, leaving many households struggling to make ends meet.

The former President criticized the NPP government, led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for its handling of the economy.

He recalled how the NPP had previously accused his administration of poor economic management, only to preside over even greater difficulties.

According to Mr. Mahama, the current leadership has failed to live up to its promises of improving living standards. He called on voters to seize the opportunity at the ballot box to demand accountability and bring about change.

The former President stated that the NDC is ready to implement solutions to address the economic challenges and ease the burdens faced by the populace.

The NDC leader urged Ghanaians to take a stand, emphasizing that their vote is a powerful tool for shaping the future. He assured supporters that his leadership would prioritize policies aimed at reducing the cost of living and promoting prosperity for all.

“We all remember what the NPP said about the NDC government. At the time, I won’t say everything was going perfectly well, but there was so much peace in the country. Akufo-Addo said we were sitting on money, yet we were hungry. But at the time, kenkey was selling at GH¢1.”

“Now, if you want to eat three balls of kenkey, you need GH¢15, and if you add one fish, that makes it GH¢20. So, I am reminding you, the people of Ayawaso East, that they have failed. Let them pack their stuff and leave.”

‘We’ll do better than 2020’ – Sammi Awuku predicts NPP votes surge in 2024 http://34.58.148.58/well-do-better-than-2020-sammi-awuku-predicts-npp-votes-surge-in-2024/ Wed, 27 Nov 2024 06:58:40 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2476154 The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is poised to surpass its 2020 electoral performance in the 2024 general elections, according to Akuapem North Parliamentary Candidate, Sammi Awuku.

Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express on November 26, he expressed confidence in the party’s strategic groundwork and its ability to defy expectations.

“The campaign slogan is ‘More of it is possible,’ and I’m not surprised that we’re definitely going to, once again, defy the odds to achieve that target,” he stated.

The National Lotteries Authority (NLA) boss added that his personal goal is to secure 70% of the votes in the Akuapem North constituency.

Sammi Awuku emphasised his rigorous grassroots campaign efforts, which include door-to-door engagements, community meetings, and targeted outreach to groups such as farmers.

He noted the NPP’s potential for growth, stating that the party has not rested on past achievements.

“I am not one of those people who say, ‘Oh, in the heydays, it was 63%, 64%, so I should manage expectations.’ In this election, the NPP is likely to perform even better than we did in 2020, and I kid you not,” he said.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) highlighted the profound message the NPP is carrying into the elections and predicted a surprising outcome.

“On December 8, you’ll come back to this studio and say, ‘It looks like something is happening that one may not understand,’” he said with confidence.

Sammi Awuku’s optimism stems from the NPP’s track record and its ability to adapt to challenging circumstances.

He underscored the party’s focus on addressing voters’ concerns and delivering impactful policies.

Mr. Siah has vowed that Dr. Bawumia will win by no less than 53% of the votes in the region.

The Chairman made this statement in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, with 12 days remaining until the highly anticipated electoral process.

Additionally, Mr. Siah declared that the NPP will flip three seats from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to secure 12 of the 15 parliamentary seats in the region.

“We are all earnestly praying and waiting for December 7. I will secure 12 seats and leave the NDC with 5,” he said.

“I have been the Regional Chairman for almost 12 years, and I know what I’m saying. The NPP secured 3 seats in Western North under my tenure. I’m winning the Western region hands down,” he added.

In a related development, former NPP National Chairman, Freddie Blay, stated in October 2024 that the party will win the majority of seats in the region.

As a former Ellembelle MP, Mr. Blay, speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen program, cited that the NPP will win back the Jomoro, Ellembelle, and Evalue-Gwira seats, which are currently held by the NDC.

He acknowledged that there have been a few issues that contributed to the NPP’s loss of these seats, particularly in Ellembelle.

However, it is not clear if these are the same three seats Mr. Siah has set his sights on.

Don’t vote for NDC; they’ve nothing to offer – NPP Communicator to Ghanaians http://34.58.148.58/dont-vote-for-ndc-theyve-nothing-to-offer-npp-communicator-to-ghanaians/ Fri, 22 Nov 2024 17:06:41 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2474776 New Patriotic Party (NPP) youth activist Enoch Ohene Larbi has urged Ghanaians not to vote for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), stating that they have nothing to offer but hardship.

He made this appeal alongside Akua Brown, the coordinator for NAPO Inspires of Tema West Constituency, during their campaign trail at Texpo Market in Spintex, Accra.

As part of their campaign efforts, they organized a mini-campaign to educate market women, new voters, and the general public on how to cast their votes correctly to avoid mistakes and spoiled ballots.

They mobilized NPP youth to support this mission and help the NPP win in the upcoming general elections.

Mr Larbi highlighted the achievements of President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo and the NPP government, emphasizing that the Flagbearer of the NPP Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the best option to continue these great policies, such as the Free SHS and teachers’ allowances.

“Bawumia is trustworthy and can take this country to the Promised Land,” he stated.
He also warned that the NDC flagbearer would cancel all the good initiatives led by the NPP government and bring back “Dumsor” (power outages).

“We urge Ghanaians not to vote for the NDC, as they have nothing to offer but hardship,” Mr Larbi emphasized.
