Mr. Mahama emphasized that individuals involved in corruption within the party would not receive any special treatment and would be left to the anti-corruption institutions to handle.

During his tour of the Volta Region, he specifically cautioned his party members not to repeat the mistakes he believes the current government has made in the area of corruption.

“However, I want to caution our people that those of us who assume positions of authority, if you betray the trust placed in you, I won’t come to defend you. Anti-corruption institutions will address your actions just as they will handle members of the current [NPP] government,” he stated.

Addressing party executives and former government appointees in South Tongu on Thursday, January 11, Mr. Mahama urged them to uphold values of integrity and honesty as they prepare for the upcoming 2024 elections.

He stressed the importance of these qualities in both winning and retaining power, asserting that the NDC must adhere to the highest standards.

“We must aim high. Our governance should be improved when we assume office. Our fight against corruption should be more vigorous. Transparency and accountability must be prioritized. Above all, we must swiftly alleviate the economic burden on the people. It may take time, but we must strive for it,” Mr. Mahama said.

“We should maintain modesty, humility, and avoid arrogance. Some individuals, when appointed, tend to display the arrogance of power.”

Mr. Mahama highlighted that the credibility and integrity of the NDC will face a critical test in the 2024 elections.

NDC will inherit a difficult economy in 2025 – Mahama http://34.58.148.58/ndc-will-inherit-a-difficult-economy-in-2025-mahama/ Thu, 11 Jan 2024 17:58:36 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2340951 John Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has voiced his frustration regarding the state of the economy he anticipates inheriting if elected president in the December 7 polls.

Despite his hopeful outlook for victory, Mr. Mahama expressed serious concerns about the economic challenges facing Ghana.

Speaking to NDC supporters in the Volta region during the Building Ghana Tour, he lamented the undeniable burden of high levels of debt.

Looking ahead to January 8, 2025, the day after the inauguration, Mahama contemplated the difficulties the incoming government would face.

He acknowledged the challenging situation that would be inherited, emphasizing that the current state of affairs is not an accurate reflection of the true extent of the issues.

He criticized the handling of the power crisis, known as “dumsor,” accusing the outgoing government of downplaying the severity to pass on the problem to the next administration.

Despite the daunting task ahead, Mahama emphasized the collective responsibility of NDC members to convey the reality of the situation to the Ghanaian people.

He stressed the need for transparency and understanding among citizens as they navigate the challenges ahead.

Lordina Mahama sends message to NDC women over Mahama’s campaign http://34.58.148.58/lordina-mahama-sends-message-to-ndc-women-over-mahamas-campaign/ Tue, 12 Dec 2023 20:04:57 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2331377 Former First Lady, Lordina Mahama, has encouraged women within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to play an active role in John Mahama’s 2024 campaign.

Addressing the NDC’s Women Organisers Retreat 2023, she emphasised the unique understanding women possess regarding the challenges they face while striving to support their families amid the current economic hardships.

Mrs Mahama stressed that the success of their endeavours relies on the hard work and commitment of women within the party.

“We must be the driving force behind the Mahama campaign and his message to the people.”

“His message, character, and attributes as the Nation Builder, a man with experience, an honest and reliable leader, and a president who would introduce a 24-hour economy to create more jobs must be heard in every corner of the country.”

She also expressed confidence in Mr Mahama, stating that he is a trustworthy individual who will fulfil his promises to the Ghanaian people if re-elected.

“It is only through our collective efforts and a genuine commitment that we can achieve our goal of winning the election in 2024 to bring change to the women and children in our communities. I believe in my husband John Dramani Mahama and I trust him.”

“I live with him and watch daily and I watch his struggles to provide all the party needs to be ready for 2024. If we are not united and we do not work together, our meetings and efforts will all be in vain,” she added.

NDC will prioritise farmers’ welfare; create more opportunities – Mahama assures http://34.58.148.58/ndc-will-prioritise-farmers-welfare-create-more-opportunities-mahama-assures/ Fri, 01 Dec 2023 15:02:34 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2326822 Former President John Dramani Mahama has assured that the next National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration will prioritise the welfare of farmers while working to ensure that they are well-resourced.

According to him, his administration will also create more opportunities for all farmers in the country.

“Our farmers are the backbone of our economy, and we will continue to invest in their success”he noted.

“On this occasion, I want to assure our farmers that the next NDC government will prioritise their welfare and work tirelessly to ensure they have the necessary resources and support to thrive,” he posted on Facebook on Friday as the country marks the 39th National Farmer’s Day Celebration.

This year’s celebration is on the theme, “Delivering Smart Solutions for Sustainable Food Security and Resilience.”

According to Mr Mahama, the theme highlights the importance of innovation and resilience in agriculture. “As we celebrate our farmers today, we must acknowledge the need for smart solutions within a 24-hour economy to ensure sustainable food security for our nation.”

Mr Mahama also pledged to bring back the joy of farming and revolutionising the agricultural sector.

“We aim to achieve food self-sufficiency through a policy that supports large-scale commercial agricultural production.

“This will be propelled by a robust cooperative system that will benefit from Farmers’ Service Centres established nationwide to drive access to agricultural credit and inputs,” he added.

According to him, the NDC will introduce agro-processing units in all regions to add value to agricultural products and create more opportunities for all farmers.

“Establishing agricultural processing plants will target crops such as palm, cashew, groundnuts, cotton, coffee, cocoa, soya, cassava, shea nuts, cereals, ginger, spices, cut flowers, fruits and horticultural products,” he added.

Mahama commits to peace [Listen] http://34.58.148.58/mahama-commits-to-peace-listen/ Wed, 16 Dec 2020 18:14:58 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1894988

Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, says he will not incite citizens to destabilise the peace of the country.

According to Mr Mahama, his commitment to leadership is underpinned by the wish to ensure that democratic tenets are adhered to.

“I’m not going to do anything that jeopardises the peace of this country, I’m peace-loving, I’m not going to incite people to go and destroy things, I will not do that,” he stated in an interview with Voice of America (VOA).

The NDC Presidential Candidate emphasised that “we have reached the point in our democracy where we need to establish the principles of our democracy and make sure we uphold them all time.”

Mr Mahama described the just-ended elections as flawed and believes not conceding defeat in the just-ended December 7 polls will make Ghana a better place.

He added: “If my principled objection to a very flawed election and to the circumstances surrounding the environment, will make us re-establish our democratic foundations and create a better foundation for our future, I’m willing to go that route.”

To him, President Akufo-Addo lacks competence in upholding the democratic principles of the country.

“All of the things he has done over the last four years, his misuse of the military services and the national security to threaten journalists, creates a general atmosphere that is unpleasant to our democratic principle,” he said.

Mr Mahama further accused the incumbent government of failing to uphold the true nature of democracy by what he alleged was government’s use of the security agencies to influence decisions in their favour.

“When a President starts to use the military and security agencies to oppress their people, we shouldn’t think they are oppressing just their political opponent but the whole nation,” he said.

Tame your hoodlums – NDC tells Akufo-Addo http://34.58.148.58/tame-your-hoodlums-ndc-tells-akufo-addo/ Sun, 13 Dec 2020 14:14:31 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1893280 The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on the Akufo-Addo-led government to “restrain the hoodlums from his party who, from the registration period and throughout the elections, have committed acts of vandalism and violence against NDC members and supporters that soil the image of our dear country.”

“This is the least that we expect from your government,” a statement from the party concluded.

The NDC also condemned in the strongest possible terms the violent attacks against the party’s Members of Parliament-elect for the Keta and Jomoro constituencies following their respective victories in the just ended 2020 elections.

Madam Dorcas Toffey, who is the Member of Parliament-elect for the Jomoro constituency in the Western Region, was attacked and assaulted in her home following a clash between New Patriotic Party and NDC supporters in her area.

The attack led to serious injuries among several members of her household and NDC supporters as well as her person. She was subsequently hospitalised.

A similar situation happened to the Keta Member of Parliament-elect Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey who was attacked in his home and was severely beaten.

According to the NDC, these attacks are being instigated by the New Patriotic Party to cause severe injury to the Members of Parliament-elect in order to prevent them from taking their seat during their swearing-in.

This it says would afford the NPP the majority status in parliament, thus, empowering them to select the Speaker of Parliament.

“Accordingly we repeat our condemnation of these acts of violence and demand that all our Members of Parliament Elect be provided with adequate security by the Inspector General of the Ghana Police Service,” the statement, dated December 13, read.
