Vincent Kompany, who lost Manuel Neuer to injury in the pre-game warm-up, saw his side utterly dominate the first period, hitting 11 shots while the hosts did not create a single opportunity.

The Bavarians took the lead at the midway point of the first half when Harry Kane picked out Olise’s run into the box and the former Crystal Palace man scored with a first-time finish at the near post.

The French winger then produced a mazy run minutes later before setting up Jamal Musiala to tuck the ball in from close range.

Ole Werner brought on Keke Topp and Derrick Kohn at the break but it did not turn the dial.

Kane made it 3-0 when he traded passes with Olise and slotted the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

Three minutes later, Olise grabbed his second after placing the ball into the top corner from the edge of the box.

The visitors were not done there and grabbed a fifth when Kane set up substitute Serge Gnabry to score with a low finish from inside the box to emphatically end Bremen’s unbeaten start to the season.

Bayern confirm £60m signing of Olise from Palace http://34.58.148.58/bayern-confirm-60m-signing-of-olise-from-palace/ Sun, 07 Jul 2024 20:15:13 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2418791 Bayern Munich have signed winger Michael Olise from Crystal Palace on a five-year deal after paying a release clause of about £60m.

The 22-year-old English-born France Under-21 forward made 90 appearances in all competitions over three seasons with Palace.

He joined the Eagles from Reading for £8m in July 2021.

Chelsea and Newcastle United registered their interest in Olise earlier this summer but the winger has chosen to move to Germany, where he will work under Bayern’s new manager Vincent Kompany.

“I’m very happy to now be playing for such a big club – it’s a great challenge and that’s exactly what I was looking for,” said Olise.

“I want to prove myself at this level and play my part in ensuring we win as many titles as possible in the coming years.”

Olise scored 10 goals in 19 Premier League appearances as Palace finished 10th in the table last season.

He has been selected in the France squad for the Olympics that start in Paris later this month.

“We are hugely proud of what Michael has achieved at Crystal Palace, a club where he has developed greatly as a player,” said Eagles chairman Steve Parish.

“We respect his desire to further test himself at the highest level of world football.”

Bayern are also set to complete the signing of Fulham’s Joao Palhinha in a deal worth £42m plus £4m in add-ons.

The 28-year-old Portugal midfielder was close to joining Bayern last summer but a deal collapsed on deadline day.

England defender Eric Dier has also joined the Bundesliga club permanently after playing for them on loan from Tottenham Hotspur since January.

Bayern’s 11-year hold on the German title was ended by Bayer Leverkusen last season.

Bayern set to sign winger Olise from Palace http://34.58.148.58/bayern-set-to-sign-winger-olise-from-palace/ Sat, 22 Jun 2024 10:03:24 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2411988 Bayern Munich are set to sign Michael Olise after the Crystal Palace winger decided to join the Bundesliga giants.

Bayern, Chelsea and Newcastle had all contacted Palace earlier this month to register their interest in the 22-year-old.

A deal was expected to be complex, with Olise’s release clause worth in the region of £60m, and percentages of any transfer due to Palace, the player himself, and his former club Reading.

Chelsea are understood to have had concerns about the overall cost of the deal.

They had unsuccessfully attempted to sign the France Under-21 international for a fee in the region of £35m last summer, thinking they had activated his release clause.

He subsequently signed a new four-year deal at Selhurst Park, lasting until 2027.

Olise has been picked in the France squad for the Paris Olympics, which start in July.

He scored 10 goals in 19 appearances for Palace last season, having missed several games with a hamstring injury.

Manchester United had previously shown an interest in Olise but are focusing on targets in other positions.

Crystal Palace put £60m price tags on Olise and Eze http://34.58.148.58/crystal-palace-put-60m-price-tags-on-olise-and-eze/ Fri, 26 Apr 2024 09:36:10 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2386442 Crystal Palace will only entertain offers for star forwards Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise that start at £60m or more for each player.

The Eagles are safe from relegation having secured a club-record 12th season of Premier League football, and financially do not need to sell either player.

However, given some of the praise for 25-year-old Eze in particular in recent weeks and the form of Olise, 22, they accept that bids are highly likely to come this summer.

And Palace feel that £60m per player is the starting price for interested teams if they want to enter negotiations.

Both Olise and Eze signed long-term deals this season so Palace are in a strong negotiating position.

Neither contract contains a straightforward release clause and any deal will be complex with percentages due to the players’ former clubs, the players themselves and Crystal Palace.

Last summer Eze was the subject of interest from Manchester City but the champions signed Wolves’ Matheus Nunes instead, while Chelsea unsuccessfully attempted to sign Olise for a fee in the region of £35m, thinking they had activated his release clause.

The players are happy at Palace and are keen to make sure that any potential move is one that benefits them, with a particular focus on picking a team that will allow them to show their ability on the ball and demonstrate their attacking flair.

Match of the Day pundit Danny Murphy said Eze was “on a different planet” in their 5-2 win over West Ham on Sunday, adding: “He is a Champions League player – I’m sorry, Palace fans. He will not be there next season. This is an unbelievable talent.

“There are going to be so many clubs after him because he can do the lot. A wonderful, wonderful player.”

There is a noticeable difference in the way Crystal Palace play when neither Olise or Eze are in the side and the pair have started just six Premier League games together.

They have scored or assisted 13 of the 14 goals in those six games.

Olise and Eze are two of the success stories Palace have signed from the Championship under sporting director Dougie Freedman.

In addition to Olise and Eze, they have also signed Marc Guehi after his spell at Swansea (on loan from Chelsea) and most recently Adam Wharton.

Wharton has already impressed many inside Selhurst Park since his £18m move from Blackburn and he has also caught the eye of other teams in the Premier League.

Wharton’s passing has shone playing in the centre of midfield and his vision has allowed Eze and Olise to get on the ball in dangerous areas.

Another player who could be the subject of transfer bids this summer is England international Guehi.

The 23-year-old has been excellent for the Eagles since signing in 2021 and has gone on to establish himself in the England set-up.

The defender has a good chance of making Gareth Southgate’s squad this summer for the Euros and is entering the last two years of his contract.

Crystal Palace 3-1 Brentford: Michael Olise double eases pressure on Roy Hodgson http://34.58.148.58/crystal-palace-3-1-brentford-michael-olise-double-eases-pressure-on-roy-hodgson/ Sat, 30 Dec 2023 20:37:33 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2337614 Michael Olise’s classy double helped Crystal Palace to a crucial Premier League victory over Brentford which will ease the pressure on boss Roy Hodgson.

Keane Lewis-Potter gave Brentford an early lead but Olise equalised shortly after with a stylish volley.

Eberechi Eze put Palace ahead before Olise increased the margin of victory after the break with a solo effort.

The win sees Palace end a run of eight games without victory as Brentford slip to their fifth consecutive league defeat.

Brentford’s energetic start saw them take the lead as Lewis-Potter scored from close range.

Mathias Jensen sent Danish compatriot Mads Roerslev scurrying down the right with a deft flick and an early ball into the area was met flush on the volley by the sliding Lewis-Potter.

There was a three-and-a-half-minute wait for the Video Assistant Referee (var) to check whether Lewis-Potter was on side before the goal was awarded.

Palace were unflustered and achieved parity soon afterwards through the impressive Olise – the standout player in the contest.

Jordan Ayew’s deep cross picked out Olise at the back post and from a tight angle, mid-air, he volleyed on his instep across goal and into the net.

Palace ensured their superiority in the remainder of the first half counted when they took the lead six minutes before the interval.

A smart dummy from Jean-Philippe Mateta from Tyrick Mitchell’s pass was picked up by Eze, who struck a low shot that wrong-footed Mark Flekken.

Olise effectively sealed the result with a fine individual goal after the interval, bewitching five Brentford defenders with his trickery when he cut inside before striking a low shot into the corner of the net.

The 22-year-old, who now has five goals and seven assists in his past 16 Premier League starts, twice went close to hat-trick but curled wide and saw a low cross shot blocked.

Michael Olise signs four-year Crystal Palace contract amid Chelsea interest http://34.58.148.58/michael-olise-signs-four-year-crystal-palace-contract-amid-chelsea-interest/ Thu, 17 Aug 2023 16:56:47 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2284531 Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise has signed a new four-year deal with the club amid interest from Chelsea.

On Tuesday, it was reported that the Stamford Bridge club had activated a release clause in the region of £35m for the French Under-21 international.

But Palace chairman Steve Parish confirmed on Thursday that the London-born 21-year-old would be staying put.

Olise joined from Reading on a five-year deal in 2021 but was in Chelsea’s youth system before leaving aged 14.

He is currently recovering from a hamstring injury that he picked up playing for France in the European Under-21 Championship but enjoyed an impressive 2022-23 campaign for Palace in which he registered 11 assists and scored two goals in 37 appearances, earning the club’s player of the year award.

Chelsea have already signed Moises Caicedo this week for a fee which could reach £115m, while an initial £53m deal for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia has also been agreed as the Blues continue a lavish spending spree which has led plenty to wonder how they are abiding by the game’s financial rules.

Palace, meanwhile, have lost talisman Wilfried Zaha this summer but began the new campaign under boss Ross Hodgson with a 1-0 win away at Sheffield United.

Chelsea closing in on deal to sign Michael Olise http://34.58.148.58/chelsea-closing-in-on-deal-to-sign-michael-olise/ Wed, 16 Aug 2023 10:44:41 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2284030 Chelsea are set to sign winger Michael Olise from Crystal Palace after activating a release clause in his contract in the region of £35m.

The France Under-21 international is poised to become the club’s ninth major signing of the summer.

London-born Olise registered 11 assists in the Premier League for Palace last season and signed for the Eagles from Reading on a five-year-deal in 2021.

Olise, 21, was a member of Chelsea’s youth system before leaving aged 14.

He is currently recovering from a hamstring injury that he picked up playing for France in the European Under-21 Championship.

The winger enjoyed an impressive 2022-23 campaign for Palace in which he registered 11 assists and scored two goals in 37 appearances and was named as the club’s player of the year.

Olise would join eight senior arrivals at Stamford Bridge this summer, headed up by the signing of Ecuador midfielder Moises Caicedo, who joined from Brighton for a £100m fee that could rise to a British club record of £115m.

Axel Disasi, Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, Lesley Ugochukwu, Angelo Gabriel, Robert Sanchez and Diego Moreira have also joined the London club.

Caicedo was the 22nd player signed by Chelsea for a fee since American investor Todd Boehly and his Clearlake consortium took over in May 2022 and takes the total outlay of the new owners to almost £900m.

New Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has been tasked with overhauling the squad and vastly improving on last season’s 12th-place finish in the Premier League.

Mateo Kovacic, Edouard Mendy, Kalidou Koulibaly, N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ethan Ampadu, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, Abdul Rahman Baba and former captain Cesar Azpilicueta have all departed so far this summer.

Chelsea opened their Premier League season with a 1-1 home draw against Liverpool last Sunday.

PL: Olise stunner gives Palace a point to deny Man Utd http://34.58.148.58/pl-olise-stunner-gives-palace-a-point-to-deny-man-utd/ Thu, 19 Jan 2023 10:53:08 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2206347 Michael Olise scored a stunning late equaliser to earn Crystal Palace a 1-1 draw against Manchester United, who missed the chance to go second in the Premier League.

Man Utd thought they had done enough through Bruno Fernandes’ first-half goal to earn all three points, but were dealt a blow through Olise’s spectacular free-kick in added time.

To make matters worse for Erik Ten Hag’s side, they will be without Casemiro for Sunday’s blockbuster clash with Arsenal after the Brazilian received his fifth yellow card of the season.

In a scrappy first half, the first threatening attempt at goal came from Odsonne Edouard, who forced a world-class save out of David De Gea.

Edouard received the ball on the edge of the box and tried to lift the ball over the Spaniard’s head and into the top left corner, but De Gea – at full stretch – used his fingertips to guide the ball onto the bar and behind for a corner.

The save proved to be crucial as Man Utd went straight down the other end to open the scoring through Fernandes.

Christian Eriksen found himself with space on the left flank as Palace switched off, and Marcus Rashford found the Dane who quickly pulled back a cross back for Fernandes who had acres of space in the penalty box, and made no mistake with the finish as he curled a fierce effort beyond Vicente Guaita.

Man Utd had a penalty shout in the second half when substitute Scott McTominay was brought down by Chris Richards, who was making his full Premier League debut.

A quick VAR check showed the 22-year-old won the ball and referee Rob Jones signalled to play on to deny United the chance to stretch their lead from the spot.

De Gea was called into action again and reacted rapidly to deny a strong Marc Guehi header from close range.

Casimiro, who started the game on four yellow cards, was booked in the second half for a seemingly pointless foul on Zaha, which ruled him out of Sunday’s game against Arsenal.

With the clock ticking down and Man Utd edging closer to the all-important three points that would lift them above Man City in the table, Olise’s free-kick from 25 yards out, in added time, crashed onto the bar before bouncing over the line and into the roof of the net.

Palace nearly won the game at the death when Zaha was put through on goal, but an excellent recovery from Aaron Wan-Bissaka denied the former Man Utd player.

Despite dropping two points in added time, Man Utd still progress moving above Newcastle United in the table and into third, level on points with Man City.

They are now eight points behind the Gunners, who they face on Sunday at Emirates Stadium.
