Scoring against AS Roma was a great moment in my career – Michael Baidoo http://34.58.148.58/scoring-against-as-roma-was-a-great-moment-in-my-career-michael-baidoo/ Tue, 21 Jan 2025 08:24:05 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2495184 Ghana midfielder Michael Baidoo has described his goal against AS Roma in the Europa League as one of the most significant moments of his career.

Baidoo, who came close to joining English side Plymouth last summer, saw his potential move delayed due to Elfsborg’s impressive run in the Europa League.

This season, the 24-year-old scored five goals in the group stage, including a decisive penalty in a historic 1-0 win over Italian giants Roma at the Stadio Olimpico. Notably, Baidoo also captained Elfsborg during the match.

“That was a great moment. That’s my best football moment,” he told BBC World News.

“Playing against Roma, being the captain, being the match-winner, it was a huge one for the whole of Sweden.

“To put the club on the map again, it was a huge one,” he added.

Baidoo also credited former Ghana and Chelsea star Michael Essien for providing him with valuable advice early in his career.

“Stay humble and keep working hard because you don’t see it but people do see it,” Baidoo said.

“If people will see it, I have to keep working hard, and in the end, it will pay off – that’s what he did.

“He was humble and kept working hard, and he’s a legend now,” he added.

Baidoo has made 76 appearances and scored 23 goals before joining Plymouth Argyle in a club record deal.

We have a big task ahead – Michael Baidoo on Plymouth Argyle’s relegation battle http://34.58.148.58/we-have-a-big-task-ahead-michael-baidoo-on-plymouth-argyles-relegation-battle/ Mon, 20 Jan 2025 11:41:51 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2494778 Michael Baidoo has pledged to do everything he can to help Plymouth Argyle retain their place in the Championship.

Currently at the bottom of the English Championship standings with just 21 points from 27 matches, Plymouth is facing a tough battle.

Baidoo, who joined the club in the winter transfer window from Swedish side Elfsborg for a record fee, has committed to giving his all as they strive to stay up.

The midfielder insists that the team will approach each match individually, acknowledging the challenge ahead but emphasizing their determination to win every game.

“We have a huge task in front of us,” Baidoo said in an interview with BBC World News. “We’ll take it one game at a time. The focus can’t be on the end goal right now; it needs to be on the task at hand.”

“I’ll continue working hard to help the team secure as many points as possible and climb out of our current position,” he added.

Baidoo has made three appearances for Plymouth so far in the Championship.

Plymouth Argyle break transfer record to sign Michael Baidoo http://34.58.148.58/plymouth-argyle-break-transfer-record-to-sign-michael-baidoo/ Sat, 04 Jan 2025 09:59:50 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2489955 Championship club, Plymouth Argyle has secured the signing of Ghanaian midfielder Michael Baidoo from Swedish side Elfsborg for a club-record, undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old has committed to a three-and-a-half-year deal at Home Park. Argyle previously pursued Baidoo during the summer, but Elfsborg declined the move to keep him for their Europa League campaign.

The transfer fee surpasses the £1 million the club spent on Bali Mumba and Morgan Whittaker in the summer of 2023. It follows the recent sale of defender Lewis Gibson for over £1 million earlier on Friday.

Baidoo enjoyed a standout 2024 season with Elfsborg, scoring 10 goals in 27 league matches as the team finished seventh in the Swedish Allsvenskan.

He also made waves in the Europa League, netting five goals, including a decisive penalty in a 1-0 victory over Roma in October.

The midfielder has three senior caps for Ghana, further boosting his profile.

Baidoo was in attendance to watch Plymouth Argyle’s 2-2 draw with Bristol City on New Year’s Day.
