This comes after he [Frimpong] was captured on video allegedly encouraging miners to attack police and military personnel who will prevent them from doing their work.

Major Oduro in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday stressed that, leaders should promote peace, not division particularly in matters concerning national security and law enforcement.

He expressed dismay at Mr. Frimpong’s alleged statements, stating that such actions only incites the people against security forces.

Major Oduro said as a parliamentary candidate should prioritize discussing policies and visions for the constituency, rather than such explosive remarks that could disrupt public order.

He therefore called on Mr. Frimpong to render an unqualified apology for the infamous comment  to peace to prevail.

IGP leaked audio probe should’ve been held in-camera – Major(Rtd) Derrick Oduro http://34.58.148.58/igp-leaked-audio-probe-shouldve-been-held-in-camera-majorrtd-derrick-oduro/ Sat, 02 Sep 2023 11:55:25 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2289911 Former Deputy Defence Minister, Major (Rtd) Derrick Oduro says the ongoing inquiry by a parliamentary ad-hoc committee into allegations of a ploy to oust the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, should have been conducted in-camera, away from the eyes of the public.

Major Oduro argued that, some of the issues emanating from the probe are sensitive and can injure public security.

“I thought it was going to be an administrative inquiry so that some of these things don’t come out. This should have been done in-camera because some security issues would have come up and protected if it was in-camera. It is not the best that a sitting IGP is being chastised this publicly, it is not the best,” Major Oduro said on Citi FM.

The former Deputy Defence Minister also emphasised that, some of the comments made by the outgoing Director General, Technical of the Ghana Police Service, COP George Mensah undermine the mandate given to the IGP.

“The President during the swearing-in of the IGP admonished him not to be a party IGP and that is exactly what this IGP is doing. So if it comes out that his works are not being appreciated by his own people, that is something that we should be worried about.”

“What is being said at the Committee can go a long way to harm public security and so this is a probe that should have been done without even allowing in the media. All the sensitive information and issues that emanated from the sitting should not have come out and this should not be repeated” Major (Rtd) Oduro added.

Deputy Minister of Interior, Major (retired) Derrick Oduro, has described the Homeland Study Group Foundation, a separatist movement as highly dangerous.

Slamming the group’s supposed declaration of ‘Western Togoland’ as an independent State, Major Derrick Oduro stressed that Ghana remained a sovereign state, which has not ceded any part of its territory to any person or group of persons, hence the group should be disregarded.

He said Ghana is a peaceful country and such actions by such groups could bring about a civil war in the country.

“We need to stop these people before they bring chaos into the country. Anytime there is such movement in other countries, war and bloodshed is what we see so we cannot have such people in our country, it is tantamount to treason,” he said on Accra-based Neat FM, monitored by Adomonline.com.

The 80-year-old leader of the separatist movement, Charles Komi Kudzordzi, affectionately called Papavi Hogbedetor, made the declaration of ‘independence’ at a public gathering in Ho on Saturday, November 16.

He cited the recent omission of some critical roads in the Volta Region from the Critical Roads Project list in the 2020 budget as evidence that the region was no longer of a priority to government.

Reacting to the news of their declaration of ‘independence’, the government promised to deal with the group and subsequently asked Ghanaians to disregard their declaration of independence.
