Danquah’s death http://34.58.148.58/new-twist-to-late-j-b-danquahs-death/ Mon, 18 Jul 2022 12:32:41 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2138783 A knife allegedly used by Daniel Asiedu in stabbing J. B. Danquah Adu, late Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, to death, has been tendered in court.

Detective Chief Inspector Augustus Nkrumah, the case investigator who tendered it in evidence, said the said knife was retrieved from Daniel Asiedu’s room, one of the accused persons, during a search by the investigation team.

Continuing with his evidence in chief, Detective Inspector Nkrumah said the girlfriend of Asiedu aka Sexy Dondon, by name Janet Kyera, told the Police that Aseidu gave her the blood-stained knife to wash for him when he returned to Agbogloshie in the dawn of February 9, 2016.

According to the case investigator, a search was conducted in Aseidu’s room at Agbogboloshie by the investigation team and the alleged knife was found and identified by Janet as the one whom Asiedu gave the knife to clean on that day.

The investigator said Asiedu also identified the knife as belonging to him, adding Asiedu and Janet gave statements to that effect.

Detective Inspector Nkrumah who was led by Mrs Sefakor Batsa, Principal State Attorney, said the investigation team also received three mobile phones, belonging to the deceased and same were tendered in evidence.

He explained the three mobile phones were two iPhones and a Samsung.

The Investigator said the three mobile phones were handed to him by the investigation team, saying that the investigation team from the Greater Accra Region indicated that the phones were given to them by Kenneth Korankye, a witness.

Chief Inspector Nkrumah said Korankye also indicated that the three phones were given to him by Asiedu.

“During investigations, the first accused person (Asiedu) mentioned that he collected them from the late MP’s room,” he added.

The Investigator further told the Court that during a postmortem at the Police Hospital in Accra on the deceased, photographs were taken.

He, therefore, tendered the said photographs as evidence.

Chief Inspector Nkrumah also identified and tendered into evidence a catapult and a cutter allegedly retrieved from the deceased’s room.

He said Aseidu later identified the catapult as his.

The Investigator told the High Court that a pair of black slippers allegedly wrapped in a duster was also found and retrieved behind a flowerpot at the house of the deceased.

He said during investigations Asiedu identified the slippers as his.

Asiedu is standing trial with Vincent Bossu aka Junior Agogo, for their various roles in the murder of the former MP.

Asiedu is being held on charges of murder and robbery. Asiedu and Bossu have been jointly charged with conspiracy to rob.

They have denied the charges before a seven-member jury.

The Court presided over by Mrs Justice Lydia Osei Marfo has remanded them into lawful custody to reappear on July 18.

Why I drew a knife at my friend while at KNUST – Sam George http://34.58.148.58/why-i-drew-a-knife-at-my-friend-while-at-knust-sam-george/ Thu, 27 Jan 2022 10:08:51 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2072182 Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo-Prampram, Sam Nartey George, has recounted how he drew a knife on one of his friends when he was studying at the tertiary level in Kumasi in 2001.

According to him, as someone who had most of his basic education in Nigeria, it became difficult for him to fit in because he was “hot-tempered” due to his exposure to what he described as ‘Lagos lifestyle’.

He said contrary to the Ghanaian lifestyle where many looked unperturbed and cool-headed, Nigeria was a different place altogether.

Narrating the incident that led to him pulling a knife, the Ningo-Prampram MP said he did it because his friend refused to pay him after he won a bet they had entered into.

He said the tennis match was between Venus and Serena Williams and after winning the bet, his friend reneged on his obligation to pay.

Sam George said as a result, he pulled the small weapon to threaten his friend to pay him the money owed him.

Nigeria shaped who  I am. I had most of my basic education in Nigeria and I came into Tech [KNUST] in 2001. In Nigeria, I was called ‘Omo Ghana’. I didn’t fit in there and when I came home to Ghana too, my people called me ‘Anago’

The Ghanaians looked too slow and dull… I got into a number of fights on campus.. One was with a guy who has now become a brother to me.. within the first weeks I pulled a small knife on him because we had had a bet on a match between Venus and Serena… I asked him and he didn’t want to pay and after that people were like ‘who is this guy? He told Andy Dosty in an exclusive interview on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM.
