The secret space, which was found by the two renters at the back of a cupboard in the corner of their kitchen, even has a window.

There is, however, no door to access the room normally. It has no flooring, and still appears to have some wiring and building materials left inside.

According to Yahoo News Australia, an unnamed woman from the UK posted the incredible find on a Facebook group called ‘Things Found In Walls – And Other Hidden Findings’.

Sharing her surprise, she wrote:

“Just rented a flat with my boyfriend and found a room inside our kitchen cupboard.”

“Definitely gonna leave something weird in it for the next tenants when we move out..”

Fellow members of the group commented in astonishment and offered some theories on what the room might be for.

One mum posted: “I would turn it into a hide out to study or hide and eat my kids’ fave snacks so I wouldn’t have to share with my kids”

Another aggrieved mother wrote: “I would totally make that into a comfy little hiding spot. Is husband getting on your nerves? Run to the hiding spot.”

One commenter suggested: “I would totally make that into a comfy little hiding spot”

Others were more outlandish with their guesses. One speculated it could be the potential work of a serial killer:, saying “Perfect place to hide the bodies”

Alternatively, some took a scathing look on those who built the property, calling it a “waste of good, natural light”.

The kitchen is that part of the home where there is constant action. Therefore, if you cut down on the amount of non-degradable waste here, then you reduce waste considerably.

It’s not just good for the environment but also satisfying to the soul. While the idea can seem daunting, the transition is manageable.

Here are a few steps for beginners to take off on this journey of a zero-waste kitchen:

Replace single-use plastic

To begin with, identify what single-use plastic is and plastic utensils that won’t pass the test of time. Replace it with steel or glass containers.

The peace of mind that you would get from opening your cupboards to transparent glass jars is amazing. It gives you easy access to things plus it’s eco-friendly.

Replace tissue with cloth

The kitchen countertop gets messy very quickly and requires constant cleaning. Using tissue or paper is easy but not sustainable and you end up accumulating more tissue that the waste itself. Replace this with cotton or microfibre for wiping or mopping the spills, so you can wash and reuse. You can also cut the towel to have multiple options and clean them regularly for reuse.

Reusable bags

The key step for sustainable living is reuse or recycle. For frequent grocery and purchases, use cloth bags that take you one step ahead to eliminating plastic production.

Purchase pattern

If you rely on ready-to-use food or buy grocery on a daily basis, think again. Managing grocery monthly or weekly reduces plastic waste.

“I am a conservative,” she said on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Friday.

She also said she does like men who monitor their ladies on social media, sending a signal that her man should not do that.

She made her submissions as part of a discussion which focussed on the mistakes that men make in a relationship.

Stressing her point, the GHOne news anchor said, “the kitchen is mine and that is my office so don’t come into my space.”

She added that her “man is there for a reason and must assume the traditional male role.” 

“I’m supposed to treat my man well,” she told host, Kojo Yankson.

Quizzed on whether she would not be busy with work, she said, “if my man has to eat, I would make the time.”
