Speaking on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz, Perez Musik reflected on Joe Mettle’s remarkable growth and his newly launched multi-purpose studio, noting that his journey deserves serious recognition.

“I knew Joe Mettle when the studio was at Dansoman. The wisdom it takes to achieve what he has achieved and do what he has done is something else. I think he needs to be studied,” Perez Musik said.

He further commended Joe Mettle’s humility and constant support for fellow artistes, describing him as an example of consistency and leadership in the music scene.

“Joe Mettle is just not an artiste; he has gone beyond being an artiste. He is a mogul in the industry now,” he stated.

Perez Musik added that Joe Mettle has solidified his artistry and character through discipline and focus, inspiring many within and beyond the gospel fraternity.

“He has cemented his artistry, his personality, and his craft beyond doubt. He’s shown what discipline and focus can achieve. I’m greatly encouraged by it,” he added.

The state-of-the-art three-storey multimedia and production centre was officially launched on Saturday, 4th October 2025, at the studio premises. It is designed to meet world-class standards in audio-visual production, creative arts, and live event recording.

The main studio can accommodate between 150 and 200 guests, making it suitable for live audience recordings, talk shows, and musical performances.

It also features three professional audio recording suites and a fully equipped video post-production studio capable of both live and post-live editing.

Speaking at the launch, Joe Mettle said every detail of Reverb Studios was carefully planned to provide clients with an exceptional creative experience. The facility includes furnished guest rooms, modern restrooms, and fully serviced kitchens on each floor, with contracted chefs to ensure client comfort and convenience.

According to him, the studios will not be restricted to any specific group of people, although there will be guidelines governing their use.

The studio’s creative creed, “Experience Beyond Production,” sums up its mission to offer not only top-tier technical output but also an immersive, customer-centred creative experience for artists, content creators, corporate brands, and event organisers in Ghana and beyond.

The launch brought together media representatives, partners, creative industry stakeholders, and potential collaborators. Notable attendees included Kuami Eugene, Akesse Brempong, Adjetey Anang, Nii Okai, Cwesi Oteng, Roselyn Felli, Arnold Asamoah Baidoo, and Kwesi Ernest.

Joe Mettle, known for hit songs such as Bo Noo Ni, Ye Obua Mi, and Kadosh, has earned numerous awards, including the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Artiste of the Year in 2017.

One X user, AL Varo X (‘@al_varo777’), has amassed over 300,000 views and over 100 comments after he posted an old photo of Joe Mettle in a police uniform, where he juxtaposed it with a current one of him to motivate his followers.

The photo, captioned “Never Give Up,” urged followers to believe Joe Mettle transitioned as a police officer.

It garnered over 500 reposts and attracted diverse reactions on the digital platform. Some were surprised, saying they never knew Joe Mettle was in the police force. Some local news websites also published the story.

On Facebook, a page, ‘Chodarich Ghanamusicweb,’ posted the two photos with the caption, “Joe Mettle was once a policeman. What really happened before he switched?”

This statement suggests that Joe Mettle was once enrolled as a policeman for his followers, and it equally garnered some comments.

Another Facebook user, Ghana Nsem Everyday, posted a photo of Joe Mettle in a police uniform with the caption,

“Joe Mettle was once a police officer? This picture of him in the police uniform has been trending.” Shortly after, the page’s admin suggested that “maybe the gospel musician resigned” from the police force before he embraced the music craft.

Meanwhile, when one popular blogger ‘Dr Sneaker Nyame’ with the handle @SneakerNyame_, posted the two photos, asking his followers, “Joe Mettle was once a policeman?” the answers he got suggested many were ill-informed or confused about the photo.

One of his verified followers, Juniorjhayy, @jacksonjhayy, told Sneaker Nyame that “Joe Mettle was one of the big police officers in Ghana, while another follower, Kwame Osei Owusu who believed the reply, followed up with a riposte: “Saaa so DSP Kofi Sarpong is not the only Gospel musician and police. Wow.”

Similarly, some blog posts handled by Mercy Mensah and Isaac Appiah on the Ghanaweb digital platform shared similar stories with their followers, confirming that Joe Mettle was a public officer before he switched.

With this information spreading like wildfire, DUBAWA decided to investigate to uncover the truth.

Verification

DUBAWA first called Joe Mettle’s management. Ruth Elinam Yevu, one of his core team members, confirmed they had seen the photo but debunked the assertion that he had been a police officer before.

Joe Mettle also denied it. The ‘Bo No Ni’ hitmaker said that although he was in the photo, it was only for a purpose.

He told DUBAWA: “I have never been in the police force. It was just a character, and it took place a long time ago. I think it was a music video for a peace song back in the day. There were others also dressed in similar regalia.”

Also, DUBAWA’s research revealed that police officers in the country wear their uniform’s cords (whistle lanyard) on the left shoulder.

In Ghana, a whistle lanyard is a cord or strap worn by police officers to hold and secure a whistle. It is typically attached to the shoulder part of the uniform for easy access.

The whistle is a traditional tool police officers use for signalling and communication, especially in situations where verbal commands might not be effective or where police officers need to catch someone’s attention quickly.

Meanwhile, in some police forces, including Ghana’s, the style, colour, or presence of a whistle lanyard can sometimes indicate rank or specific duties.

In these cases, higher-ranking officers may have distinct lanyards or cords as part of their uniform that set them apart from junior officers. This difference can be subtle, like a different braid or colour, and is meant to provide a visual cue to their position within the force.

Conclusion

The claim that gospel musician Joe Mettle was a police officer before entering the music industry is false.

According to Mr. Mettle, it has been a difficult experience, given the friendship they both shared until KODA’s demise.

Speaking on Joy Prime’s Changes show, the singer told Roselyn Felli, who asked about how he felt upon receiving the news of his colleague’s death, that “it was a difficult moment and still is.”

He continued that, although the musician is gone forever, reminiscing about moments makes him feel as if KODA is still alive.

“Sometimes we’re still living in denial about the fact that maybe he’s still around. Once in a while you have the awareness that he really is gone,” he reiterated.

Mr. Mettle has faith that the departure of the ‘Hossana’ hitmaker is the will of God, believing that KODA is resting peacefully in God’s bosom.

Meanwhile, the final funeral rites for the late singer are scheduled for Friday, September 20, at KICC Dominion Center, off Spintex Road.

All fans and sympathizers are encouraged to join the family as they bid their beloved one farewell.

The event which was held at Manchester in the United Kingdom brought together musicians and enthusiasts from various genres under one umbrella on June 22, 2024.

In his address, Joe Mettle highlighted the significance of character in achieving and maintaining success in the music industry.

“Gift is important, but gift itself is not enough. You need to improve on the gift God has already given you. So it’s great that you are in the room right now, adding more knowledge, adding more experience from the people that also God has given grace to be able to travel the world and do this amazing thing we call music. I also want to say one other thing, character is also necessary, because gifted as you can be without character, trust me, many people will find it difficult having to work with you,” he said while connecting virtually.

He encouraged aspiring musicians to focus not only on honing their musical abilities but also on developing integrity, humility, and a strong work ethic.

“Sometimes the gift will open the door for you, make a way for you to go to a place, but it is only character that will keep you there and keep you running. I understand that sometimes it might look like you are being maltreated or not treated, right. That’s a different situation.”

“But when you find yourself always having to move, because of how character made you react and everything, maybe you should check it [your character] again. And so as you learn, as you improve, as you grow in your craft, please be mindful that character is what will keep you there even though gift can open the door for you to get to that point.”

Joe Mettle’s message resonated with many participants, inspiring them to strive for excellence both in their craft and in their personal conduct.

In an interview on Daybreak Hitz with host Andy Dosty, Joe Mettle shared how his wife and newborn daughter significantly shaped his writing in music.

According to Joe Mettle, the birth of his daughter sparked a divine inspiration.

When the Holy Spirit spoke to him about his child’s purity, he recalled, “Do you think this child is pure? And I said yes, her purity cannot be compared to mine and how Holy I am.”

Joe Mettle also revealed that he wrote the song without knowing the meaning of Kadosh, which he later discovered means “the Holiness of God”.

He also shared that the original voice note of the song features his baby’s sounds, adding a personal touch to the track.

The ‘Me Dan Wo’ singer also acknowledged his wife’s contribution to one of his songs, stating that she had valuable input despite not being released yet.

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty, Joe Mettle emphasized that he would not accept any sponsorship from such brands for his events.

He stated, “It is a no for me. Aside from faith, you can only work with brands that complement what you do.”

When questioned about accepting anonymous sponsorship from an alcohol brand, Joe Mettle responded, saying, “With brands that give sponsorship and do not want to be mentioned, that is the silent sponsors, because silence is silent, I don’t know what I will do about that now though.”

“A company’s sponsorship is mostly not free since no matter what, you will be required to pay it someday since you will be invited on their stage”, he stated.

Joe Mettle, who has built a successful career in gospel music, explained that collaborating with secular artists could compromise his principles and create expectations for similar collaborations in the future.

He clarified that his decision to turn down Sarkodie’s offer was based on his personal conviction and adherence to his musical direction, rather than any personal issues with the rapper.

He mentioned that he and Sarkodie had a clear and respectful discussion about the potential collaboration, and both parties understood the reasoning behind his decision.

In addition to Sarkodie, Joe Mettle disclosed that he has also declined collaboration requests from other secular artists, including Manifest.

He reiterated that his commitment to gospel music means he must consistently apply the same standards to all collaboration offers from secular artists, regardless of their stature or the potential exposure such collaborations could bring.

Joe Mettle stated that while he values his relationships with these artists and acknowledges their talent, his focus remains on producing music that aligns with his spiritual values.

However, he did not entirely rule out the possibility of future collaborations with secular artists.

He indicated that he might consider such opportunities if he feels a spiritual prompting that aligns with his faith and values.

The musician said he did it with faith, believing that the gesture would bring countless blessings, which manifested within twenty-four hours.

Joe Mettle revealed this in an interview on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning show on Friday.

“One of the years, I emptied every account I have everywhere; we did the event, and it was a blessing. Because I believe first in God and the vision He’s given me, I emptied everything; I spoke to my wife and gave them what they would need for home and gave out everything else. Right after the event on that Sunday, I left for the US on Monday, and around that time, we hadn’t even finished with the payment. I got there, and there was an event that wasn’t part of my itinerary for that tour, but the pastor said, why won’t I come?”

“But I told him I’m going for a wedding, and he asked when I would be back after the wedding. I told him my ticket would be taking me somewhere else afterwards, but he said I should forget about that ticket. They bought me a new ticket, had me go to the wedding, fly back down, and do the service. After that, what they blessed me with was more than enough to clear all the others and still have something in my account. So, immediately after we finished the service, I sent the rest of the money to the guys,” he narrated to the host, Roselyn Felli.

Others thought he sold tickets to balance the expenses incurred. But the ‘Bo Noo Ni’ hit singer said he does not make any profit from ticket sales.

The brief experience multiplied his belief that God blesses those who are willing to give to impact others with everything He has entrusted to them.

“The question is if God can trust you with it. If you hold on to it, nothing more will come. But if you learn to give back to Him what He’s given to you, more will come.”

The 2017 VGMA Artiste of the Year is yet again looking forward to filling the forty-thousand-seated Accra Sports Stadium with the 2024 edition of his Praise Reloaded for free.

He said it was an inspiration from a fan who reached out to his team to get tickets as they could not afford to purchase any to attend the event.

His team, according to him, did not want to agree to the idea considering the price of the stadium, but he encouraged them to keep faith in God, and the event would turn out great.

The 12th edition of Praise Reloaded is set to take place on June 30, 2024. Themed ‘The Holy Spirit Encounter’, the event will feature an all-star lineup of gospel ministers, including MOG, Ohemaa Mercy, Pastor Isaiah, Nathaniel Bassey, Sunmisola Agbebi, Kofi Peprah, Luigi, Enuonyam, Team Eternity Ghana, and Jumbo Aniebiet.

She explained that, Mr. Mettle has not attained the feat chalked by veteran gospel musicians like Tagoe Sisters, Daughters of Glorious Jesus and Elder Mireku to be called a GOAT.

To Celestine Donkor, the popular musician is a young legend in the industry.

Celestine Donkor who is currently promoting her latest song with Obaapa Christy said this on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM

“I was going to mention Obaapa Christy, Tagoe Sisters, Joe Bechem and Elder Mireku, Daughters who are the earliest among the list so we need to look at the life span. Joe Mettle is great, but I don’t think he fits in the category. He is a young great artiste but to put him in that category is too much. If you give daughters a 72-hour marathon, they will nail it easily,” she added.

She openly declared her willingness to replicate her actions and express similar sentiments if confronted with a comparable situation.

The controversy arose during an interview where Nyarko voiced her concerns about the perceived bias against local artists, specifically noting that many English-speaking gospel musicians are “overhyped,” with Joe Mettle cited as an example.

In response, Joe Mettle implied that Nyarko “is not okay” and suggested she could benefit from some time to heal.

Revisiting the issue, Nyarko emphatically stated that she holds no regret and would engage in a ‘beef’ with Joe Mettle or anyone asserting that Twi-singing artists are less talented.

Nyarko defended her position by stating, “Misunderstandings are normal. Even in Heaven, there was a misunderstanding; that’s why God sacked some of His angels. Why do they expect us gospel artists not to react when triggered? God even wants it when someone offends you; you either ignore or address it and get it out of your heart. It’s normal for Christians to fight; too much peace is hypocrisy, and I don’t like it.”

She clarified that her dispute with Joe Mettle was not a personal vendetta but a defense of her craft and talent. “I fought a good fight, and even now, if given the chance to repeat it, I will. I did a good thing. How can they say as gospel artists, I can’t sing just because I don’t have command over the English language? I only defended my craft and my talent, so whoever wants to be upset with it is fine by me,” Nyarko asserted.

Referencing statistics, she argued that Twi songs hold a dominant position in the gospel music industry compared to English songs and should therefore be accorded the same level of respect.

The ‘Bo noo ni’ hitmaker did what he does best, an excellent performance.

Together with the Cedar Mountain Assemblies of God choir, they served patrons with excellent tunes and left many with unforgettable memories.

The jam-packed night saw performances from several choirs, like Harmonious Chorale, Bethel Revival Choir, Odorkor PIWC’s New Song, Team Eternity, Voice of Triumph, among others.

The 2017 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) Artiste of the Year crowned the highly-anticipated choirs’ edition in a spectacular way.

He thrilled patrons to his popular tunes like Bo noo ni, Kadosh, My Everything, Ye som Nyame, and many others.

In a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz, the Kadosh hitmaker said he didn’t take up his music course seriously because he didn’t have any intention of pursuing it at the time.

 “I think I should have taken my music lessons seriously when I was in school. At that time, I didn’t know I would be taking it up one day so I didn’t take it seriously. That is one regret I have in life,” he said.

Joe Mettle has seven albums to his credit. He has won several awards and was adjudged the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Artiste of the Year in 2017 as the first Gospel artiste to have won the ultimate.

He told Graphic Showbiz that he is happy with who he is and happy with what God has made him. “I won’t choose who I am over anything. I think I love what God has made me and I love the assignment He has given me.

“Aside from everything, I enjoy serving in this ministry. I love to sing; I love to write. So I just love who I am and what I do,” he disclosed.

Away from music, Joe Mettle who married his wife, Salomey Selassie Dzisa in 2020, said marriage has been good to him.

 “As you can see, marriage is treating me very well. The evidence is there. My family is doing great and I thank God for everything,” he said.

He also had a word of gratitude to his fans: “I want to say thank you for supporting the gift and ministry God has given me. I believe that ministry is about people. So if they don’t support you, you have no ministry. Thank you for the prayers, the thoughts and everything you do to support what God has called me to do”.

Headlining his concert, Praise Reloaded, Joe Mettle delivered a goosebumps-worthy ministration which got his patrons in a worshipping mood.

Among the crowd tapping into the anointing was Mr Emmanuel Mettle who was just in awe of the wonders his son was performing.

Filled with pride, Mr Mettle couldn’t help but capture the precious moment on his phone, completely absorbed in the performance and momentarily losing awareness of his surroundings.

He was overwhelmed with emotions as he struggled to hold back tears.

On Wednesday’s edition of Joy Prime’s entertainment show, Prime Morning, Joe Mettle unveiled some interesting details of his life bordering on his childhood to his present state as a father-of-one.

Family
Joe Mettle was born to Florence Addo and Emmanuel Mettle as the eldest of six children. He is the only child of both parents, but has five step siblings, two boys and three girls. Despite the stepchildren outnumbering him, Joe Mettle has a peaceful relation with all his siblings

Education

It is no news Joe Mettle studied draftsmanship at the Modern School of Draftsmanship (MODESCO), but his intention was to acquire skills to be an architect. From childhood, he was fascinated with planning, designing, drawing and construction. His dream was to further his education at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, but that did not happen. He had no choice than to ditch architecture because it was too time consuming.

Background
The gospel artiste lived in a typical Ga community where survival of the fittest was their mantra. According to him, he was forced to be adventurous and explore because “if you don’t get hard in the system, you will drown”.

His mum was a petty trader who used to sell ‘waakye’ leaves. They bought in bulk from merchants in Takoradi and retailed to food sellers. When that business went out of date due to the introduction of polythene and packs, Joe and his mother hawked brooms, canes and kerosene until they finally found their feet in food business.

Fun life

Joe Mettle hardly parties. He has never done clubbing because he is not used to the noisy night life, neither does he drink hard liquor. The first time he tasted alcohol was during a community training when his friends trapped him by presented alcohol in a beverage bottle. The goodie-two-shoes said he developed severe mouth sores and till date, he has not got the guts to try again.

Dating and marriage

The gospel musician dated “once or twice” before meeting his soulmate whom he wed. However, his relationship could not sustain due to his busy nature in pursuing his spiritual ministry.

However, when he met Salomey Selassie Dzisa, he just knew in his spirit she was the one and observed her from a distance before making his intentions known.

Joe Mettle met Sellassie online while scrolling through his social media platform. He took notice of her again at his events and at that point, his heart prompted him to make a move which he didn’t. But when Sellassie told him ‘God bless you’ after one of his ministries, he knew it was time to make a move. After talking for almost three years and dating for a year, they tied knot in a plush ceremony in August 2022.

Daughter

He is now a father-of-one to a beautiful girl he described as super hyper and energetic. Joe Mettle was present throughout the pregnancy period and he witnessed everything in the labour ward. It was a difficult moment seeing his wife in pain but it all ended in smiles and glory.

For those who wish to see his daughter’s face, it is almost impossible since he does not see himself posting her anytime soon.

Children

Joe Mettle wishes to have ideally two children, maximum three.

Nannies

Joe Mettle never had a nanny care for him so he will not hire a nanny. According to him, he likes direct bonding and he feels nannies take their share in parental love. He will rather leave parenting for grandparents than nannies.

At a time when he was yet-to-be-known, he narrated how he was invited by a friend to perform at his church, but the reception he received was rather a cold one.

According to Joe Mettle, he was in high spirits, ready to perform, but the pastor made an ill comment during their introduction.

“A friend of mine invited me to his church and I hadn’t even sang yet. He introduced me to his pastor as a talented gospel musician blah blah blah. As he was talking, the pastor looked at me from head to toe and didn’t say anything to me but he asked my friend ‘do you think we are joking here’?”

The comment, Joe Mettle said shattered him and was ringing in his head as he made the decision to take the walk of shame back home.

However, he indicated he doesn’t hold the pastor at fault as he was then an underground artiste who was yet to join the Soul Winners band, and his slim stature made him seem a little unqualified.

Despite the incident happening many years ago, Joe Mettle said he remembers it as clear as today since it had both a positive and negative impact in his career.

“For obvious reasons, I won’t disclose the pastor’s name or the church but it really hurt me. It encouraged me to do more. It was like fuel to me, it was the motivation I needed. Maybe if I hadn’t heard those words, I wouldn’t have pushed harder and gotten where I am today.”

Quite ironically, The Ye Obua Mi composer said he received a call from the said pastor to minister in his church recently.

However, Joe Mettle said he could not honour the invitation.

“Just three or four years ago, I had a call from the pastor. The moment he mentioned his name I told him I knew him. He was very happy, but he didn’t know the circumstances with which I recognised him. He’s an encourager for me, so I never forgot him.”

According to him, right from the onset, he took gospel as a mission, thus, preaching and touching lives through his song ministrations.

He added that, his ambition led him to travel to Navrongo, a town and the capital of Kassena-Nankana District in the Upper East Region of northern Ghana, adjacent to the border with Burkina Faso, and he went in good faith to perform.

After reaching his destination, Joe Mettle said he was shocked after seeing the plush hotel that was booked for him among other experiences that will forever linger in his memory.

The gospel musician, who is a key stakeholder having won countless awards from the scheme, has his name omitted in all 27 categories.

This has thrown the Christian community into a state of frenzy, with many demanding answers from the organisers and the artiste himself.

To bring the minds of his fans to rest, Joe Mettle has replied, informing it was his decision to be exempted.

Though he did not state his reason, netizens have accepted his request in good faith.

With back-to-back hit songs and his Kadosh album, all released in the year of review, The Ye Obua Mi composer’s fans believe he would have made history again.

This leaves Perez Musik, MOG Music, Scott Evans, Akesse Brempong, Kofi Owusu Peprah, KobbySalm and Luigi MaClean to battle it out for the prestigious Gospel Artiste of the Year categoy.

The fifth edition of the Ghana national Gospel Music Awards comes off in August.

Stating his reason on DaybreakHitz on Hitz FM, he indicated that involving himself in that won’t do him good since he is a minister of God.

“I won’t even ask anyone, it’s a straight No for me,” he said.

“I happen to be a minister of God who is gifted with the ability to sing and so my first assignment is to my service to God and so he expects certain things as well from me,” he added.

According to him, he believes companies who offer support expects something in return.

“No company will give you without asking you anything in return. They would have to account for it,” he noted.

However, he wishes that aside from betting companies, other companies could support the work he does but he explained they are scarce to come by.

“About sponsorship, sometimes it comes and sometimes it doesn’t. We wish sometimes it will come more but it doesn’t,” Joe Mettle stated.

“But you see one of the things I have realised is despite all that each time something needs to be done, God in his own way makes a way,” he added.

According to him, one “needs to know where to draw the lines and what will work or will not work for you”.

Citing an instance, he said “I don’t know how but the events we were doing had no company sponsoring but we got individuals sending in money as their support.”#

The artiste said he was currently feeling the heat as all his efforts to bring investors to his side are proving futile.

Joe Mettle recounted how investors who had assured him of their help during his last concert backed out at the last minute, for whatsoever reasons.

Speaking to Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, Tuesday, he believes the reason for the unfortunate setback is managerial focus on the part of the investors, which may not have aligned well his brand.

He also touted business uncertainties and the economic setbacks COVID has caused as one of the reasons some investors hold back from gospel musicians but are eager to sponsor secular artistes.

He, however, believes his genre as a gospel artiste should not limit his chances of receiving ambassadorial deals, as he has a high following on social media.

“In terms of what companies want, maybe brand association or value, we have the numbers for it but they aren’t coming. Companies belong to people and they make the decision based on what they want but I think it’s unfair,” he said.

In his stance, he is not ready to push too much so as not to look desperate before investors.

As someone who said his father was almost invincible in his life while growing up, it is nothing short of a joy to him and his wife.

The Mettles in October 2021, announced the birth of their first child, Ariana and expressed how grateful they were to God.

Speaking on his experience on Adom TV’s M’ashyase3 show, he indicated except for the sleepless nights, the journey has so far been amazing.

“It’s a very nice experience. I was astonished as I stood by my wife while she delivered and it’s been great. Apart from the sleepless nights once she wakes up, we all have to do the same,” he told Afia Amankwa Tamakloe.

The Bo Noo Ni hitmaker tied the knot on August 13, 2020, to Salomey Selassie Dzisa now known as Mrs Salomey Selassie Mettle.

The ceremony sparked controversies amid allegations that Mrs Mettle was pregnant and had two children prior to the marriage.

Mr Mettle, however, debunked the claims, stating a lot of artistes are being dragged behind in the name of showbiz.

A rare video of the moment Selasie was heavily pregnant has popped up and her fans have drooled over her beauty.

Joe Mettle shared the video to profess the love he has for his wife, for blessing him with their daughter, Naa Dromo.

The video captured them in a loved-up mode, and Selasie with Sellasie fully dressed as a royal.

According to him, they are still in contact and have a good relationship going on.

Mr Mettle, who was a lead singer for the group and worked on a couple of projects including the famous Walabolo bread of life track, disclosed this in an interview on Adom TV.

“I was with the group for six years and there is no bad blood between us. I actually became the lead singer after my successor travelled, hence there was a gap to be filled.

“I did not just leave but after I gained admission to Pentecost University, there were clashes with my lecture schedules and as someone who was eager to complete school, I had to let go of the group so my education does not suffer,” he told Afia Amankwa Tamkloe on M’ashyase3.

Fast forward, Mr Mettle indicated he wanted to focus on building his own craft, hence it was advisable he went solo to gain focus.

However, he emphasised he left on a good note, adding there is no need for anyone to think there is a rift between them.

According to him, he believes all the musicians who made it to the list are potential winners, hence there is no need for him to be worried about critics.

Joe Mettle added that, even if he is substituted with another nominee, the brouhaha wouldn’t be cancelled.

One thing he noted was that he didn’t file for the nomination but his manager did it on his behalf.

There is a a criteria they used… so if the organisers think you fit that’s what makes them nominate you. There are lots of things that happen at the background and the fact that they are not out there doesn’t mean they not happening. There is music and there is work and I think I haven’t been posting most of my works here.

Anyone in the category can win. Don’t underestimate anyone. People have those they are rooting for so I can win and anyone else can too.

When he was asked what his reaction was after chancing on Ras Kuuku’s statement, Joe Mettle said he laughed.

When I saw it I laughed. If he was also nominated they would do the same thing. No matter who happens to be there… there are times that people don’t deserve to be in a category every year. I dont think this is new in terms of how people feel.

Additionally, the Bo Noo Ni hitmaker said he has grown a tough skin for negative critics, hence critics against his Artiste of the Year nomination don’t get to him.

I guess it comes with the work. Everyone will not be happy with you. Whether you win or lose, people will have their issues. if you are worried about people, it can take too much energy out of you so life goes on.

According to him, he cannot fathom why Joe Mettle has over the years been nominated in the category when his works doesn’t amount to the value for him to be honoured as such.

The nominees in the tight category were King Promise, Kuami Eugene, Sarkodie, Black Sherif, KiDi and Joe Mettle.

Talking further on the Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Ras Kuuku said Joe Mettle’s Ye Obua Mi song can never be rated over Fameye’s Praise song, hence its apt for Fameye to be in the Artiste of the Year category and not Joe Mettle.

Earlier, Ras Kuuku took to his social media pages to query if the VGMA award scheme belongs to Joe Mettle only.

Everyone did well but in terms of Joe Mettle we want to know what he actually did for him to be there. Just like when he won Artiste of the Year years ago. I never knew him until he won it at that time.

Joe Mettle did nothing last year and it’s a fact. I’m not supposed to listen to gospel songs before I know a hit song.

According to Ras Kuuku, the VGMA board failed to nominate his Fakye song though he was the most active Reggae/Dancehall musician.

The board said I did nothing so I wasn’t nominated. If you are not being nominated it means your work didn’t catch up to what they are looking for. I filed for nomination for my Fakye song.

Can you tell me Joe Mettle’s hit song…? My Fakye was released around June, July last year and I filed for Reggae Dancehall song of the Year. I can see most of the reggae dancehall DJs complaining.

Is it because it is bashing the politicians? I am not complaining about mine. When I saw Artiste of the Year and I saw Joe Mettle without Fameye…Which of Joe Mettle’s songs can match Fameye’s Praise? Joe Mettle is a good composer but the truth is what did he do to win that?

Joe Mettle being in the Artiste of the Year category is an insult to all musicians in Ghana – Ras Kuuku. Didn’t Fameye work last year? That Praise song isn’t it big enough to be in the Artiste of the Year?

The video was an excerpt of Ariana’s christening which took place on Saturday, September 29, 2022.

Taking to his Instagram page, Mr Mettle, who announced the birth of his child in October 2021, stated how grateful he was to God.

To him, the christening ceremony reminded him and the family of God’s unending love as he appreciated friends and all loved ones who came in to show their support.

He wrote: A week ago we dedicated our blessing and bundle of joy to God.
Ariana’s Christening reminded me of God’s love for us and how much he always has us in mind.

He said the scripture states in Deuteronomy 31:6 that “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

He added that no matter the challenges “we face in life, we must have absolute certainty in God to give us renowned peace and profound joy in the end as He has said in his word.

“The process to victory is always difficult and you require regular motivation, as a reason to be a better you to maximise performance. Personally, I have been able to accomplish things that I never thought were possible because I kept pushing in prayer and trusting in God.”

According to him, there is no way some churches will be tempted into such an idea because it shifts them away from their original mission and vision in Christianity.

The labels are based on the vision of a particular church and leadership… I hear people compare ours to other churches outside… but for instance my church’s priority is missions. Take it out and they do nothing.

The Bo Noo Ni hitmaker asked Ghanaians not to raise their hopes high or whip big churches over record labels because they indirectly support gospel musicians.

I get it that is the core duty of the church… but there is a way to go about it… a church was using my song for one event and someone said if not for that, he didn’t know I was the one...

He explained that saying: Until we get that level of support, they can start in any of the small ways they can because if it is not the pastor’s vision. There is no way it will happen.

In an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, Joe Mettle said the media sometimes spreads negative rumours around before making further probes into them.

According to him, the practice goes a long way to destroy the reputation of the artistes who are caught in such webs.

We drag them sometimes but we see it as showbiz and we come back and say they are not where we expect them to be. There are a lot of these things that contribute to the drag of these artists. Sometimes even though the media works with the stories, I think research has to be done… he said.

Joe Mettle has been a victim of the unfortunate practice of some media institutions and appears to be advocating for it to be stopped.

He made reference to reports that flooded social media following his marriage on August 15, 2020.

People still ask me about my children. The two children they said my wife has; people still ask me. I’ve actually caught people several times who are looking to see if my wife’s belly is protruded…, he explained.

Speaking on Adom TV‘s Ahosepe Xtra during the Never Have I Done Games, the Jamestown inhabitant confessed he was arrested for an undisclosed crime.

When pushed further to elaborate on what led him to be in cuffs, the singer said that is private and I cannot say it on air.

Despite not giving full details of the arrest, the Bo Noo Ni composer stated he wants to be truthful on his past life since he is a role model to many.

That notwithstanding, he revealed some positive traits he has exhibited since childhood, pertaining to his relationship, job and church.

The now-married man said prior to tying the knot with his childhood lover, Salomey Selassie Dzisa, he had never double-dated.

He, however, revealed he had been attracted to a member of his church.

Joe Mettle, however, started the celebration on Monday, April 19, 2021.

The gospel minister said he is organising a seven-day prayer service, ‘Sing Over Ghana’, on November 7, 2020, to ward off any evil set to create confusion on the election day.

“I wanna organise a prayer and worship service for the election. We call it ‘Sing over Ghana.’ It’s gonna be back to back performances and prayer for different sets of audiences at ICGC Open Heavens Temple, Adjiringanor,” he said.

Emmanuel Mettle says his most preferred song among all of Joe Mettle’s compilation of songs is ‘Ɔnwanwani’.

This same song won Joe Mettle the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards ‘Artiste of the Year’ in 2017, breaking the jinx to become the first gospel artiste to win that award.

Beaming with smiles in the video, she made powerful declarations for fans and followers.

Many users have since taken to the comment section to reply the prayers coupled with compliments to her persona.

Expressing shock at the reports, he stressed there is no iota of truth in them.

He made these statements in an interview on Zionfelix uncut show.

“I don’t know because they are saying it but it is not true. I am the one who happens to be out there and not my wife. She also has her life and makes the decision whether to be out there or not,” he said.

His comments come on the back of reports that flooded social media following their marriage on August 15, 2020.

Mrs Mettle was rumoured to be pregnant before their wedding, claims which attracted a lot of attention from fans and followers.

This comes after Wanlov sighted a photo actress Lydia Forson posted on social media with the latter.

Wanlov and Miss Forson have been spotted together at events sparking chitchats that they are seeing each other, a rumour the former dispelled.

Mr Mettle and the actress are believed to have bumped into each other in town and decided to pose for the camera.

Coincidentally in matching blue tops, the duo gave off nice grins.

Lydia posted the photo with the caption: “Please who is this lovely gentleman I bumped into? * Hint : he has an amazing voice.”

Apart from the ceremony being a beautiful one, it was also a star-studded event which many of Ghana’s top stars passed through.

Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams is among the many prominent Ghanaians who were at the event where he offer some priceless piece of advice to the newlyweds.

When the Archbishop took hold of the microphone at the wedding reception held at the Kempinski Hotel, he thanked God for successfully putting the duo together.

“He is your assignment and you are to fulfil and empower him to enable him to succeed. If he succeeds by your help, you have succeeded too and God will reward you for that,” he told Mrs Mettle.

To Mr Mettle, he said: “The need of every woman is affection; they want to be loved so love her and make sure you treat her right.”

He asked the couple to see ‘understanding’ as the seat belt for their journey which will be full of turbulence.

The ceremony was held at the Christian Centre Assemblies of God Church in Community 12, Tema.

Mr Mettle had support from the likes of colleague musicians, Ohemaa Mercy, Ceccy Twum, SP Kofi Sarpong and Eugene Zuta.
