The simple yet profound traditional ceremony took place at at McCarthy Hills on Thursday, January 11th, 2024.

She rocked a corseted burgundy outfit with intricate beading work that added an extra layer of sophistication. Her groom also looked dashing in a kaftan.

Describing the event as a “ministry wedding,” Iona Reine expressed gratitude for the transformative power of Christ in their lives, changing them from gangster and empress to gospel ministers.

Iona asked for grace to sustain the marriage until death do them part as she believes her marriage is in line with God’s purpose of glorifying his holy name.

This is her second marriage following divorce from her ex-husband with whom she has two children.

The singer who has in the last few years weaned herself from her five-year-marriage, said at a point, she was overshadowed by the urge of self-pleasure.

She attributed the acts as a sin against the flesh and a major temptation the devil uses in luring the children of God.

However, she said she has found by grace, and since then she has not had the urge for self-pleasure.

“I was a big masturbator and porn watcher but grace found me. Praise Jesus. If you’re like that and want deliverance, Jesus is the answer.”

For those who do not see masturbation as a sin, iOna opined that they are living in deceit and are under spiritual arrest.

The midwife indicated that “thinking masturbation is a way of self discovery is deceit. People say they do it to be able to know their bodies, but it’s a sin”.

she urged people who are battling with the acts to avoid sexual practices and seek refuge in the presence of God.

Ebony passed on in the peak of her career in a fatal accident while returning from Sunyani to Accra in February 2018, and since then, her lookalikes have popped up to continue her legacy.

One of such is iOna Reine, who said her resemblance with Ebony did her more harm than good.

According to her, Ghanaians flooded her social media comment section with tributes and ‘RIP’, and the situation was so deep that she began seeing the late Ebony in her dreams.

Opening up on the encounter in an interview on Adom TV‘s The Journey, iOna revealed Ebony would be smiling at her, yet does not utter a single word.

In another dream she recounted, she said “it was a weird dream. She [Ebony] was pregnant and teaching in a classroom.”

Having a nursing background, iOna said she attributed the dreams to psychological trauma and sought the help of some of her colleagues.

However, she said the situation worsened and she began seeing the late Ebony more frequently, even when her eyes are widely opened and in broad daylight.

“At a point it became very scary. Even when I was doing something, I see her standing by. In one of the dreams, she had come back and some people were chasing us and took her away. The pain I felt in the dream, when I woke up, I felt the same chest pain and at that point I knew I had to get spiritual help.”

iOns revealed she got some pastors to pray with her and since then, the spirit of the late Ebony has departed from her.

When asked if she reached out to the family of the first VGMA female Artiste of the Year, iOna responded in the negative, explaining that she did not want to be misinterprated.

“The reason is that Ghanaians can easily misinterpret your intentions. They can attribute it to me wanting fame or chasing clout so I kept quiet an dealt with it myself,” she said.

The artiste, who tied knot at just 22 years old, divulged that her whole intent of marriage was to prevent her from “eating around”.

According to her, at that time she was sexually active and did not want to exploit further, hence her decision to accept a marriage proposal from her then 23-year-old lover who she thought was her ‘spec’.

iOna indicated that she did not give the proposal any critical thought because she was following the normal structure society has laid down for adult females.

“At that time I had finished school, Nursing Training, I just felt after school, I was working so what next, marriage. If I just sat down I would have been tattered and you’ll just be eating around and I didn’t like the idea of that. So it’s all part of the reasons I married early.”

Predictably, her marriage ended after five years due to what she said was immaturity and miscommunication.

The Could This Be Love singer has now concluded the best time to marry is after 30.

In an interview with Zionfelix, she added that she has grown to realize the marriage was a bad decision, though she is grateful for the children she birthed during the period

She is not open for marriage, but would wish to have more children for a responsible man.

iOna has enjoyed the joy of motherhood for seven years, the age of her first daughter, Alexia.

Barely a year later, she took seed and gave birth to her last baby, Nuella, for her ex-husband she was married to for five years.

Due to the one year age difference, the duo could pass for twins; they constantly rock the same dresses and hairstyle.

In some photos exclusively available to Adomonline.com, the mother is seen cultivating an enviable bond with her children, and the smiles on their faces indicate they are living their best lives.

Born Mercy Onuawonto Sam, iOna engaged in public education at basic schools in the Volta Region on the importance of water.

The midwife emphasised the need for water, and why it must be used wisely to build a positive mindset on resources in society.

“I call on all to value water and to remain responsible for its use. Ability to afford water should not guarantee one to be wasteful with it,” she emphasised.

She said aside music being a powerful platform for education, she took a step further to meet face-to-face with the pupils.

The ‘Obra’ hitmaker added her voice against galamsey and illegal logging of trees

This was during a discussion on the theme: ‘Valuing Water with AbibiNsroma Foundation, a Tema-based non-governmental organisation.’

She has been accused of emulating fallen singer Ebony Reigns though she has denied that on many occasions.

According to majority who have chanced on her Obra music video,  it can be likened to Ebony’s Maame Hwe video, which preached against domestic violence.

One user, Agnes Kyeremateng, who commented on the video few minutes after it was posted, advised her to find her true self.

She wrote: Why the copy copy though? Is that what you want your brand to be known for? An Ebony counterfeit? You have a great voice and I hope you find yourself soon. [SIC]

Another, Kathie Abynahgyimah, said: Ah Iona what is this??? Just be you My dear you can never be like Ebony just be you and be focused. You made me sad this evening….. (Ebony reigns) [SIC].

Meanwhile, there were others who also supported her by asking her to keep up with her career.

According to them, people are entitled to become who they want to be and her looks shouldn’t stop here from doing music against the odds that she looks like Ebony.

One of such people was Sweet Titi, who had this to say:

Those complaining about her style have no case kraaaa, especially the women, don’t you people wear Brazilian, Indian and other hairs? Are they your real hair? Who has never copied from someone in this world?

We all have our choices so if you don’t agree with hers there’s no need to condemn her. You people did same to Wendy Shay. Women/Blacks will always remain our own enemy. I think she has a great voice and we’d need more of her music [SIC], she said.

Taking to her Instagram page, the ‘Someha’ musician took time to demonstrate how one could easily check the signs of having lumps in their breast.

She explained that, if any lady sees any blood or greenish yellowish discharge after squeezing their nipples they should report to the hospital without delay.

She wrote:
