Stephen’s brother, Kwasi Amoako, confirmed the development in an interview with Accra-based Citi News, noting that he received the information from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) officer handling the case.

“Yesterday we went to court, and I can confirm that the third suspect has passed on. I was told by the Police CID, the one who is in charge of the case. We thank God that our brother has started seeking justice for himself,” Mr. Amoako stated.

The suspect’s death adds a new layer to an already sensitive case that has captured public attention since the officer’s killing.

Mr. Amoah’s family has repeatedly called for speedy and thorough investigations to ensure accountability and closure.

Police have yet to release an official statement confirming the incident.

Mr. Amoah was declared missing on July 3, 2025, after leaving his home to meet a friend at Ashongman Estate. His charred remains were later found on July 9 at Abuom Junction near Kwabenya, prompting an intensive police probe and manhunt, which led to the arrest of three suspects.

Another suspect arrested in Immigration Officer murder case http://34.58.148.58/another-suspect-arrested-in-immigration-officer-murder-case/ Fri, 22 Aug 2025 14:42:59 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2570184 Another suspect has been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of Immigration Officer Stephen King Amoah.

The suspect, identified as Thomas Zigah, also known as Nii Jaase, was arraigned before the Adabraka District Court on Friday, August 22, 2025.

His arrest adds a new dimension to a case that has gripped public attention since Amoah’s disappearance and subsequent killing.

During proceedings, counsel for the accused pleaded with the court to allow his client to seek medical attention at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital instead of the Police Hospital, insisting that the suspect’s condition appeared deteriorated while in custody at the Railway Police Station.

The Counsel claimed the suspect had red eyes and required urgent care at an independent medical facility.

The prosecution opposed the request, noting that the suspect had already been taken to the Police Hospital twice, where he was treated and discharged.

They argued that defence counsel had not formally specified why Korle Bu should be preferred over the Police Hospital.

The court agreed, ruling that if the suspect’s health was in jeopardy, a formal application would have to be filed to request a change of hospital.

Defence counsel further suggested a one-week adjournment, reasoning that the prosecution had indicated the accused would be taken to the hospital again for the third time, and therefore a medical report should be provided as evidence.

The prosecution, however, opposed the adjournment, arguing that investigations had extended beyond Accra’s jurisdiction, requiring investigators to travel, and it would not be possible to conclude inquiries within a week.

The court declined the application for Korle Bu treatment and refused the one-week adjournment. The case was subsequently adjourned to September 4, 2025.

Meanwhile, the prime suspect, Bright Aweh, believed to have been the last person Amoah contacted before his disappearance, remains in police custody.

Aweh first appeared before the same court on Friday, August 8, where he was remanded for two weeks.

Amoah, 38, was reported missing on July 3, 2025, after leaving home to meet a friend at Ashongman Estate. His charred body was later discovered on July 9 at Abuom Junction, near Kwabenya, sparking a manhunt and an intensive police investigation.

Blood test leads to murder charge in Immigration Officer’s death http://34.58.148.58/blood-test-leads-to-murder-charge-in-immigration-officers-death/ Mon, 04 Aug 2025 12:30:21 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2563281 The Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, COP Lydia Donkor, has confirmed that Bright Aweh, the prime suspect in the murder of Immigration Officer Stephen King Amoah, has been formally charged with murder.

She made the announcement at a joint press briefing with the National Cyber Security Authority on Monday, August 4, 2025.

COP Donkor disclosed that forensic tests conducted on samples from Aweh’s residence tested positive for human blood.

“A search at the suspect’s residence uncovered bloodstains in one of the rooms and a fufu pestle, also stained with blood. Laboratory results confirmed the stains were human blood,” she said.

She added that Aweh is scheduled to appear before the Adabraka Court on August 8, 2025, to face trial.

Meanwhile, Acting Director-General of the National Cyber Security Authority, Divine Selasie Agbeti, revealed that in collaboration with the CID, four other major cases involving foreign nationals are currently under investigation.

Immigration Officer Stephen Amoah, 38, was found dead on July 9, 2025, under suspicious circumstances at Abuom Junction in Kwabenya, five days after he was reported missing.

He was last seen leaving his residence at Gye Nyame House, Musuku Junction, Kwabenya, to meet a friend at Ashongman Estate in Accra.

His brother, Akwasi Amoako, confirmed that Amoah’s body was discovered with multiple stab wounds to the chest and neck. The body was partly burnt, suggesting that his killers attempted to set it ablaze after wrapping it in a woolen carpet and dumping it along the Abuom–Abokobi road.
