Renard’s name has gained prominence as Egypt seeks to fill the void left by Portuguese manager Rui Vitória, who was relieved of his duties on Sunday following the Pharaohs’ poor performance in the 2023 AFCON.

Egypt exited the tournament in the Round of 16 after a penalty shootout loss to DR Congo.

Renowned for his success with African teams like Zambia and Ivory Coast, Herve Renard has attracted the interest of Egyptian football authorities.

Despite currently leading the French women’s national team, Renard is reportedly open to the possibility of taking charge of the Egyptian team. However, he remains committed to fulfilling his contractual obligations, including participating in the upcoming Olympics with the French women’s team.

As discussions regarding Renard’s potential appointment progress, former national team manager Carlos Queiroz has also emerged as a candidate in contention.

The impending decision on Egypt’s head coach highlights the country’s dedication to revitalizing its football program for international success.

Hervé Renard is our preferred coach but … – GFA http://34.58.148.58/herve-renard-is-our-preferred-coach-but-gfa/ Fri, 02 Feb 2024 11:13:22 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2350883 Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Frederick Acheampong, has cited economic challenges as a major obstacle in getting their preferred coach, Hervé Renard.

“Hervé Renard has always been the preferred choice of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) since the departure of CK Akonnor, and while the coach is willing to coach Ghana, the economic circumstances make it difficult for us to hire him,” he said in an interview on Akoma FM.

The hunt for a new coach follows the dismissal of Chris Hughton due to Ghana’s disappointing performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Despite successfully guiding Ghana through the qualification phase, the team’s ambition to end a 42-year trophy drought was thwarted by another group phase elimination, accumulating only two points.

A five-member committee has been established to recommend a suitable candidate to the GFA Executive Council.

The GFA is hoping to get Hervé Renard as Ghana’s head coach but Mr. Acheampong said they cannot pay him.

Hervé Renard worked with Black Stars as the physical trainer under Claud Le Roy during the 2008 AFCON hosted in Ghana. He has also won the AFCON twice with Ivory Coast and Zambia in 2012 and 2015 respectively.

Hervé Renard is the current head coach of France Women’s national team after leaving Saudi Arabia.

2023 AFCON: Ivory Coast to ‘loan’ Hervé Renard until end of tournament http://34.58.148.58/2023-afcon-ivory-coast-to-loan-herve-renard-until-end-of-tournament/ Thu, 25 Jan 2024 19:28:09 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2346997 The Ivorian Football Federation has made a strategic move to secure the services of Hervé Renard, the current manager of the France women’s national team, for the remainder of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Renard, renowned for his successful stints with Zambia and Ivory Coast, where he secured AFCON victories in 2012 and 2015, is set to step in as Les Elephants’ coach.

This decision comes in the wake of the dismissal of Jean-Louis Gasset, the previous coach after Ivory Coast suffered a significant 4-0 defeat to Equatorial Guinea in their recent group-stage match.

The Ivorian Football Federation has reportedly approached the French Football Federation (FFF) to secure Renard’s services on a temporary loan basis.

Despite Renard’s current role with the France women’s team, the loan deal is designed not to disrupt his commitment to the women’s side, with his contract extending until the Olympic Games in August 2024.

Instead, it aims to bring Renard on board for a short period to guide the Ivorian national team through the ongoing AFCON.

Ivory Coast, qualifying as one of the four best third-placed teams with 3 points, faces a challenging task in the round of 16 against Senegal, one of the tournament favourites.

The crucial match is scheduled to take place at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro on Monday, January 29.
