According to him, the headlines from the statement are misleading and he is shocked by the heat it has generated.

“A lot of people called me to say I’m being insulted over the comments. But I know it is just internal politics. The programme was successful and the attendance was massive so they just want to divert attention.

“It was one of the biggest walks in Ghana and reports indicate we registered over 200,000 attendance,” he said on Accra-based Okay FM.

Mr Adorye has come under criticism over comments he allegedly made that “Northerners and Muslims are only fit for Running Mate positions” during a health walk over the weekend in honour of Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyerematen.

The walk dubbed Aduru woso to wit it’s your turn, saw participants clad in branded party T-shirts with pictures of Mr Kyerematen march through the principal streets of Kumasi as they declare their support for his flagbearership race.

Mr Adorye has since denied the above statement attributed to him.

Some residents in Kumasi on Saturday embarked on a health walk to express gratitude and respect to the Trade and Industry Minister, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen.

According to the group, it is time to showcase their son and hero to the world as tradition demands.

It follows reports that the national leadership of the party had ordered the group to halt its intended health walk.

Addressing the media, former MP for Nsuta-Kwaman Beposo, Kwame Asafo Adjei, said, “we came today as men and women of Asanteman with special interest in the development of Asanteman and all allies to embark on a health walk. It is non-political as speculated.”

Some former MPs and ministers who served under the John Kufuor administration also joined the health walk.

Supporters from other constituencies in the region also participated in the Health walk.

According to Miss Sinare, more needs to be done to address the breast cancer issues in the country.

The walk targeted mainly people living in the Zongo communities who are not well abreast with the serious implications of breast cancer.

The Health Walk which started from Kawokudi Park through to Kanda had some popular Ghanaian celebrities also partaking.

Speaking to the media, Habiba Sinare said Mama Mariam Foundation was on a campaign to educate, create breast cancer awareness.

She added that her foundation is set to begin a three-day free breast cancer screening exercise – which is slated to begin from Friday, October 22 at Mamobi Zurak Mosque, Saturday, October 23 at Newtown Angola, and on Sunday, October 24 at Nima-Madina Station from 6:00 am to 5:30 pm.

She emphasized that everyone needs to be aware of their status and get screened, “early detection saves a life, join our free screening to prevent the challenges associated with cancer.”

The 15-kilometer walk started from ATTC, Kokomlemle, through to Circle, Adabraka and through Accra, Asylum Down and back.

The fun-filled annual event saw Chief Executive Officer, Kwesi Twum join Managers, presenters, editors and staff for the walk.

It also saw some business partners and followers of the media Group take part in the walk.

Patrons were first ushered into aerobics session to boost their health to mark the beginning and end of the event.

It was followed by refreshment to replenish lost energy.
