England forward Harry Kane, who started the match as a substitute, registered his 35th goal of the campaign to give Bayern victory and eliminate the Dutch club, who reached the last 16 of the competition 12 months ago.

Ismael Saibari’s stunning right-foot effort had raised home hopes that PSV could qualify for the knock-out play-offs.

The runaway Eredivisie leaders were sitting inside the top-24 places until Kane’s intervention meant they ended the evening in 28th, a point and four positions adrift.

And Peter Bosz’s side will feel a little hard done to after creating several excellent openings during an impressive first-half display.

Guus Til and Ivan Perisic both went close to opening the scoring well before Musiala – who has only recently returned to action after suffering a serious leg break at the Club World Cup – ended off a fine Bayern counter with an unerring finish from close range.

PSV’s disappointing evening was compounded by Mauro Junior’s late dismissal for collecting two yellow cards.

Bayern Munich open talks to extend Kane contract http://34.58.148.58/bayern-munich-open-talks-to-extend-kane-contract/ Tue, 27 Jan 2026 04:37:14 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2623931 Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl says the German club are in talks with Harry Kane about extending the striker’s contract.

The 32-year-old England captain joined on a four-year deal from Tottenham in August 2023 in a move worth an initial 100m euros (£86.4m).

Kane has since scored 119 goals and registered 30 assists in 126 games for Bayern and clinched the first major trophy of his career when he helped them win the 2024-25 Bundesliga title.

“We’re talking to Harry, we’re talking,” Eberl said at a Bundesliga event in Frankfurt.

“Everyone knows at some point a decision has to be made.”

In October, Kane said he “could definitely” see himself staying at Bayern, and that his desire to return to the Premier League had “gone down a little bit”.

This season he has scored 34 times in 30 games for Vincent Kompany’s side, including 21 goals in 19 Bundesliga outings as he tries to beat former Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski’s record of 41 goals in a single Bundesliga campaign.

Kane has also helped Bayern to second place in the Champions League group phase table with one game to go.

“Harry has great confidence in us and he feels comfortable in Munich,” said Bayern chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen.

“He and his family are settled in. Therefore we’ve got absolutely no reason to rush.”

Kane & teenager Karl on target as Bayern rout Brugge http://34.58.148.58/kane-teenager-karl-on-target-as-bayern-rout-brugge/ Wed, 22 Oct 2025 21:20:42 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2591487 Harry Kane scored his 20th goal in only his 12th game of the season as Bayern Munich thrashed Club Brugge to maintain their 100% start in the Champions League.

The England captain scored one of the easiest goals of his career in the 14th minute when he was left unmarked to tap in Konrad Laimer’s ball across the face of goal.

Neither Lionel Messi nor Cristiano Ronaldo scored their first 20 goals in a season in as few as 12 matches.

Kane’s strike followed a sensational one by teenage sensation Lennart Karl nine minutes earlier as, aged 17 years and 242 days, he became the youngest player to score for Bayern in the Champions League, surpassing Jamal Musiala’s previous record by 121 days.

On his first start, Karl fired in a stunning left-foot shot into the top corner after shimmying past two defenders.

Luis Diaz smashed in a third off the underside of the crossbar in the 34th minute – his seventh goal since his summer move from Liverpool – before Kane hit the post from a tight angle just before the break.

The 32-year-old should have scored again early in the second half, but was thwarted by Brugge goalkeeper Nordin Jackers in a one-on-one opportunity after breaking clear of the defence.

Kane was also denied a tap-in by a superb last-ditch block by Jorne Spileers, and replaced by Nicolas Jackson with 20 minutes remaining.

The Senegal striker scored Bayern’s fourth from close range minutes, sealing a third successive win in the competition, after Diaz had an effort cleared off the line.

Bayern moved up to second behind Paris St-Germain in the league phase standings on goals scored with nine points, while Brugge are 20th with three points.

The German champions will travel to France on 4 November to face holders PSG (20:00 GMT), while Club Brugge host Barcelona the following day (20:00 GMT).

Kane scores 400th club goal as Bayern beat Dortmund http://34.58.148.58/kane-scores-400th-club-goal-as-bayern-beat-dortmund/ Sat, 18 Oct 2025 14:00:00 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2589864 England captain Harry Kane scored his 400th club goal as his first-half header helped Bayern Munich beat Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.

Kane was first to Joshua Kimmich’s 22nd-minute corner in Der Klassiker in Munich, nodding Bayern in front with his 21st goal from his 12th match for club and country this season.

Bayern added a second in unusual fashion in the second half when Jobe Bellingham’s clearance from inside his own six-yard box bounced in off a sliding Michael Olise.

Dortmund cut the deficit through Julian Brandt, who turned in Julian Ryerson’s cross in the 84th minute, but Bundesliga leaders Bayern held on to maintain their 100% winning start to the season.

Kane’s 400th goal in club football came 14 years and nine months after his first, which he struck in a 4-0 win for Leyton Orient while on loan from Tottenham, against Sheffield Wednesday in League One in January 2011.

The 32-year-old is averaging a goal almost every 52 minutes this season, and has 104 goals in 107 appearances since he joined Bayern from Tottenham in 2023.

He has also scored 280 goals for Spurs, five goals for Leyton Orient, nine goals for Millwall and two goals for Leicester.

Kane, who has also scored a record 76 goals for England, was once again the star on Saturday. Spending large periods of the game in a deeper role he launched numerous Bayern attacks from inside his own half.

His landmark goal came from his first shot on target in his 607th career match and was his 12th Bundesliga strike of this season.

He has scored in every match he has featured in this campaign bar one, Bayern’s 3-2 win over Augsburg is August, a game in which he provided two assists.

‘I am fully all in’ – Kane open to new Bayern deal http://34.58.148.58/i-am-fully-all-in-kane-open-to-new-bayern-deal/ Tue, 07 Oct 2025 06:04:04 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2585906 Harry Kane says his interest in returning to the Premier League has cooled and he is willing to open talks with Bayern Munich about a new contract.

Kane is halfway through the four-year deal he signed when joining from Tottenham Hotspur for £86.4m in the summer of 2023.

The 32-year-old has scored 103 goals in 106 appearances for the German club, helping them win the 2024-25 Bundesliga title – the first honour of his career.

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank has said he would like to see Kane return to England, where he needs 48 goals to eclipse Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League scoring record of 260.

But the England captain says he is no longer as keen on returning home as he once was, and would consider extending his stay in Bavaria.

“In terms of staying longer, I could definitely see that,” he said.

“I spoke openly a couple of weeks ago that I have not had those conversations with Bayern yet, but if they were to arise I would be willing to talk and have an honest conversation.

“Obviously it depends on how the next year or so goes and what we achieve together. Right now, I would say we are in a fantastic moment and I am not thinking about anything else.

“In terms of the Premier League, I don’t know. If you had asked me when I first left to go to Bayern, I would have said for sure I would come back.

“Now I have been there a couple of years I would probably say that has gone down a little bit, but I wouldn’t say I would never go back.

“What I have learned in my career is that different opportunities and different timings happen and things fall in place. Going back to my first point with Bayern right now I am fully all in with Bayern.”

Kane is all-time top scorer for both Tottenham and England and recently became the fastest player this century to reach 100 goals for a club playing in one of Europe’s top five leagues, reaching the landmark in just 104 games for Bayern. But a trophy had eluded him until he lifted the German title last season.

Kane says he was not sure how he would react after ending his trophy drought, but now believes it has made him hungry for more.

“When you win a title like I did last year, maybe it could be easy to go the other way and be like, ‘OK I’ve done what I wanted to achieve’,” he said.

“But it’s given me more motivation to do more and be better. I think I’ve shown that this year.

“I was interested in how I would feel after winning a trophy. Obviously there’s still a lot more I want to achieve in terms of other trophies and bigger trophies for sure.

“But I think it was always just, in my head, what I was going to feel like after I did achieve winning my first one.

“But for sure, I pushed myself the other way in terms of being even better, eating even cleaner, doing more gym. Just trying to get the most out of what I’ve got right now.”

Kane scores twice to reach Bayern century in record time http://34.58.148.58/kane-scores-twice-to-reach-bayern-century-in-record-time/ Fri, 26 Sep 2025 18:13:47 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2583025 Harry Kane scored twice in Bayern Munich’s win over Werder Bremen on Friday to become the fastest player this century to reach 100 goals for a club playing in one of Europe’s top five leagues.

The England captain won and converted a penalty on the stroke of half-time, before firing home from close range in the 65th minute to reach the century mark in just 104 games.

The previous record of 105 games was set by Cristiano Ronaldo while playing for Real Madrid in 2011, and matched by Manchester City striker Erling Haaland last year.

Former Liverpool winger Luis Diaz had opened the scoring when he deflected in a Jonathan Tah flick from a corner, while Konrad Laimer slipped home a late fourth as leaders Bayern preserved their unbeaten start to the season.

Kane broke two other records in his side’s 4-1 victory against Hoffenheim last weekend, during which he scored a hat-trick.

He reached 70 Bundesliga goals in just his 67th game in the competition, faster than anyone else in the league’s history.

Previously, the 32-year-old broke the record for the most goals scored in 50 Bundesliga games (54 goals), and the fewest number of games needed to reach 50 goals in the competition (43 matches).

On Friday, Kane also became the first player in Bundesliga history to convert their first 18 penalties, as well as score 18 consecutive spot-kicks.

Kane was the first player in Bundesliga history to finish top scorer in both his first two seasons, and the only player to score 25 or more goals in their first two campaigns in the competition.

He has started this campaign with 15 in eight games in all competitions – including two hat-tricks in five Bundesliga games – with Vincent Kompany’s side top of the league table with a 100% record.

Kane is the highest scoring Englishman in Champions League history (42 goals), and scored against all 20 teams he has faced in the Bundesliga.

Only Miroslav Klose has played against more sides, while scoring against all of them (28).

Kane joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in a £100m transfer in 2023, having scored 280 goals in 435 games in all competitions for the Premier League club.

He has two years remaining on the four-year contract he signed with the Munich outfit, although he has recently been linked with former club Spurs and Manchester United.

But when asked on Friday if he was thinking of a Premier League return, Kane said: “No, not at the moment. I’m really happy here. I have two years left on my contract.

“I’m enjoying every moment. That is not in my thought process. I’m enjoying it with the team, with the coach, and hopefully we continue to be successful.”

Kane moved to Germany in the same summer that Jude Bellingham left Borussia Dortmund to join Real Madrid.

The young midfielder’s contribution to Real Madrid’s La Liga and Champions League double in 2023-24 placed him as England’s best player playing abroad, but Kane has arguably been more consistent.

“It has been grotesquely unfair on Harry Kane [that Bellingham has received more praise],” said Pat Nevin during BBC Radio 5 Live’s coverage of Bayern’s 3-1 Champions League win against Chelsea last week.

“Kane has had an even bigger impact here on Bayern Munich. There are maybe not as many good players around him and there have been times where Kane has been carrying this team. He really should be looked upon as one of the greats.”

Bayern have had some legendary strikers in their history, so where does Kane rank among them?

“They think he is the best of all of them and that includes Robert Lewandowski,” German football expert Raphael Honigstein said on the Radio 5 Live Euro Leagues podcast.

“He has done it in a way that is so unique because we don’t associate centre-forwards with selflessness and humility and wanting to defend in their own box.

“Kane has gone to another level in the last two or three weeks and has captured the imagination of the German public that is unusual for a non-German player.

“People are just in awe of what he does. The one player everyone talks about in Germany is Harry Kane.”

Kane scored either side of half-time as Bayern beat Chelsea.

“Kane looks sharp, he looks really on point,” said former Blues striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink on the MOTD UCL highlights show.

“He looks willing [to run]. He looks like he is always going to be dangerous.

“We all say he is not the quickest, but he still can bring the ball [up the pitch and] into the final third. He really is on the very top of his form.”

Asked whether Kane sometimes has to carry Bayern, he added: “Yes, but that is what they bought him for. That is the pressure that he has and he is delivering.”

Bayern boss Kompany was keen to highlight the work Kane does away from the box.

“It is more about his work off the ball,” said the former Manchester City captain. “Watch him move, press and help the team. He has to run, get back onside to win the penalty. He spends energy to get chances and rewards.

“That’s the side of it I keep highlighting. You can talk about quality and talent but there is a lot of hard work behind it.”

Kane scores hat-trick as Bayern win at Hoffenheim http://34.58.148.58/kane-scores-hat-trick-as-bayern-win-at-hoffenheim/ Sat, 20 Sep 2025 16:08:17 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2580835 Harry Kane scored his second hat-trick of the season as Bayern Munich overcame a shaky start to win at Hoffenheim and continue their 100% start.

The England captain, 32, broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time with a clinical first-time finish from a cleverly worked low corner, and doubled Bayern’s lead from the spot after Albian Hajdari was harshly penalised for a handball.

That broke Hoffenheim’s resistance and Kane completed his ninth Bundesliga hat-trick with another penalty, given for a foul on substitute Michael Olise after a video assistant referee (VAR) check.

This time Kane sent home keeper Oliver Baumann the wrong way for his 13th Bayern goal in seven matches across all competitions this season – adding to his Champions League double against Chelsea on Wednesday.

Hoffenheim had the better of the first 45 minutes, Fisnik Asllani only able to hit the post after goalkeeper Manuel Neuer passed straight to the Kosovan.

They eventually got some reward for their efforts, former West Ham full-back Vladimir Coufal’s deflected free-kick beating Neuer to earn the Czech his first goal for the club.

Ex-Liverpool winger Luis Diaz hit the top of the bar late on as he failed to continue his record of scoring in every Bundesliga game this season, but Serge Gnabry added a fourth for Bayern with the last kick – converting a rebound from a tight angle after Baumann saved from Joshua Kimmich.

Nicolas Jackson made his first start since joining Bayern on an initial loan deal from Chelsea, but the Senegal striker had a very quiet game before being replaced in the 62nd minute.

Kane scores twice to ruin Chelsea’s Champions League return http://34.58.148.58/kane-scores-twice-to-ruin-chelseas-champions-league-return/ Wed, 17 Sep 2025 21:47:53 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2579828 England striker Harry Kane exploited error-prone Chelsea to score twice in Bayern Munich’s 3-1 Champions League win.

Kane, 32, won and scored and penalty before sealing victory in the second half through a curled shot after a Malo Gusto mistake.

Earlier, Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah scored an own goal, while a returning Cole Palmer had placed a shot into the top corner to pull one back on his 100th appearance in all competitions for the west Londoners.

There were warnings in the second half as Michael Olise and Kane missed good chances when Chelsea – back in the Champions League for the first time since the 2022-23 season – were chasing an equaliser.

Ultimately, Gusto’s misplaced pass led to Kane’s curled shot in the 63rd minute that ended the match as a contest.

It was one of a number of defensive mistakes, including the visitors switching off at a drop-ball situation before Chalobah’s own goal and midfielder Moises Caicedo bringing Kane down in the box.

Chelsea squandered a positive start, missing early chances through Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez.

Meanwhile, Palmer also had a late goal ruled out for a narrow offside.

The Blues were ultimately out-thought by a more streetwise and experienced Bayern side, who have won their opening Champions League match for the 22nd season in a row.

Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, 39, played his 151st match in the Champions League. By contrast, Chelsea’s entire 24-man squad had made only 117 appearances at this level before kick-off.

The west Londoners next welcome Benfica in the Champions League, which could see Jose Mourinho return to Stamford Bridge, with the Portuguese expected to be appointed manager this week.

Kane hits hat-trick as Bayern put six past Leipzig http://34.58.148.58/kane-hits-hat-trick-as-bayern-put-six-past-leipzig/ Fri, 22 Aug 2025 19:15:59 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2570283 England captain Harry Kane scored a hat-trick as defending champions Bayern Munich began the Bundesliga season by thrashing RB Leipzig.

It took 27 minutes for the hosts to break the deadlock when Michael Olise sent a powerful strike into the far corner after the ball dropped invitingly into his path.

Serge Gnabry was instrumental in the build-up to that goal and also the second five minutes later as the German picked out Luis Diaz after an excellent passing routine.

The Colombian forward rifled an effort in off the underside of the crossbar for his first Bundesliga goal since his summer arrival from Liverpool.

Gnabry’s excellence was apparent again for Bayern’s third just before the break, tricking the Leipzig defence into thinking he was about to shoot before teeing up Olise instead to thunder home.

Kane got his first of the night in the 64th minute, cutting inside to round off a swift counter-attack and tuck an effort past Peter Gulacsi.

The visitors thought they had a goal back soon after, but substitute Antonio Nusa’s goal was disallowed as the ball was rolling when a free-kick in the build-up was taken.

Leipzig’s luck only got worse, with Kane whipping an expert effort inside the far post from the edge of the box to add a fifth goal to Bayern’s tally.

He sealed a dominant success for his side when he netted his third in the 77th minute, a beleaguered Leipzig defence unable to keep up with Bayern’s running, leaving Kane unmarked and able to slot home.

Kane-inspired Bayern set up PSG clash after seeing off Flamengo http://34.58.148.58/kane-inspired-bayern-set-up-psg-clash-after-seeing-off-flamengo/ Sun, 29 Jun 2025 18:16:26 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2549498 England captain Harry Kane scored his 40th and 41st goals of the season in all competitions as Bayern Munich won a pulsating tie with Flamengo to reach the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup.

Brazilians Flamengo had gone into the game on an 11-match unbeaten run but fell behind inside six minutes when Chilean midfielder Erick Pulgar diverted Joshua Kimmich’s corner into his own net via the inside of the far post.

It was 2-0 just three minutes later, Kane rifling home a fierce low drive – via a slight deflection off Leo Ortiz – after Dayot Upamecano had dispossessed Giorgian de Arrascaeta inside the Flamengo half.

Gerson beat Manuel Neuer with a rasping strike to give Flamengo hope 12 minutes before half-time, but Leon Goretzka restored Bayern’s two-goal advantage with a long-range effort that appeared to wrongfoot goalkeeper Agustin Rossi on its way in.

Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Jorginho sent Neuer the wrong way from the penalty spot after Michael Olise had handled De Arrascaeta’s shot inside the box early in the second half, but another clinical Kane finish completed the scoring with 18 minutes remaining.

Bayern will face European champions Paris St-Germain in Saturday’s quarter-final.

Bayern’s ‘James Bond’ – how Kane clinched his first trophy http://34.58.148.58/bayerns-james-bond-how-kane-clinched-his-first-trophy/ Sun, 04 May 2025 16:13:37 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2531417 For all the goals and individual accolades, Harry Kane has long been hit with criticism – that he had never won a trophy with club or country.

“There are many people who, throughout my career, only talk about the fact I haven’t won a title yet,” the England captain said recently, as Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga crown began to look more inevitable. “It would be nice to silence a few of them.”

Kane even saw the irony in the fact his 14-year wait for a senior trophy might end while he watched on from the stands as Bayern faced RB Leipzig on Saturday, having been handed a one-game suspension following his fifth yellow card of the season last week.

“It’s kind of my story that I’ll miss the Leipzig game,” said the 31-year-old. “But no worries, I’ll celebrate more than anyone else.”

Kane even made his way to the touchline ready to join the party until a stoppage-time Leipzig leveller meant the wait was delayed by a day when second-placed Bayer Leverkusen drew 2-2 at Freiburg on Sunday.

That saw Vincent Kompany’s side secure the German title, and means Kane has finally put to rest the notion that a glittering individual career may finish without any silverware.

“I’m thrilled for him because he deserves it so much,” former Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur striker Jurgen Klinsmann told BBC Sport.

“He has proven it throughout the last 10 years. His numbers are absolutely insane and he will do that for another couple of years because he’s in top shape still, he’s fit, he’s hungry.

“I’m really happy for him. I just love to watch him.”

Kane’s career has not followed the trajectory one might expect for England’s all-time record goalscorer. As an under-14s player at Tottenham, according to former youth coach Alex Inglethorpe, he “wasn’t even on the podium” when it came to the age-group’s top talents.

He was still a youth player the last time Spurs won a trophy, the League Cup in 2008, but earned his breakthrough with the first-team squad and signed his first professional deal in July 2010. Then there were hard-grafting loan spells with Leyton Orient in League One and in the Championship with Millwall and Leicester, as well as with Norwich in the Premier League.

Once Kane established himself at White Hart Lane, he blossomed into Spurs’ best homegrown player of a generation, becoming the club’s all-time top scorer with 280 goals in 435 games and climbing to second in the Premier League ranks with 213, behind only Alan Shearer’s 260.

Yet for all the goals, and three Premier League Golden Boots, a decade in lilywhite yielded only a series of near-misses – a Champions League final defeat by Liverpool, twice runners-up in the League Cup and beaten to the title in successive seasons by Leicester and Chelsea.

That story repeated itself with England, as they were runners-up at the past two European Championships and beaten in the 2018 World Cup semi-final by Croatia, despite Kane winning the Golden Boot in Russia seven years ago and finishing as joint top-scorer at last summer’s Euros.

“I always said that if Harry leaves Spurs, he will get the opportunity to win titles,” added Klinsmann, who also won his only championship after leaving Tottenham for Bayern in 1995.

Indeed, trophies seemed like a foregone conclusion when Kane joined Bayern for an initial 100m euros (£86.4m) in August 2023 – a club who had won 11 successive Bundesliga titles before his arrival.

Kane even had a shot at silverware on his debut, but Bayern lost 3-0 to RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup at Allianz Arena with the England captain coming off the bench for the final half hour.

Was he cursed? When Bayern were then knocked out of the German Cup by third-tier Saarbrucken, some may have believed so.

Leverkusen ran away with the league as Bayern finished third, their lowest position since 2011, while Thomas Tuchel’s side were beaten by eventual winners Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals.

“People made bad jokes about him,” explained Taufig Khalil, commentator for ARD Radio.

“Bayern Munich won the German championship 11 years in a row, Harry Kane came for 100m-plus and the next season Bayern Munich did not win a single trophy!

“It was tough for him. He came to Munich because he knew this is the club where you can win trophies, where you will be on top. And then he came and it was a very bad season last year.”

‘People love him’ – the importance of fitting in

Kane never wavered in his desire to keep improving after becoming the Bundesliga’s record signing. He spoke recently about studying the game’s greats and having the drive to consistently be one of the world’s best.

He has dealt with the pressure of essentially replacing Robert Lewandowski, who left in 2022 as Bayern’s second all-time scorer behind Gerd Muller.

“Bayern Munich has a huge tradition of number nines,” explained Klinsmann.

“There is always a special eye on them. To fill that spot is just an honour. It’s something very special. He knows that he is followed closely by everyone.”

And not just in Munich – Khalil said rival fans see it as a privilege to have Kane in Germany: “When the captain of the Three Lions is playing in the Bundesliga – wow, that’s big!”

Yet there is no superstar ego on boy from east London.

He is regarded as incredibly professional and a leader among the squad – a player a lot of his younger team-mates look up to and someone who is very respectful, whether that be in training or completing the many media and partner obligations that come with representing a European giant like Bayern.

“He has a royal approach,” added Khalil. “When he enters the stadium, he greets everybody, he is very friendly. If there is a moment he doesn’t want to talk in the mixed zone, then he excuses himself. A lot of other players walk through with headphones on or use the telephone and try not to look in the eyes of the media.

“Normally he stops, he is always ready to talk. He is an absolutely leading person in that club. He gives a lot of that James Bond gratitude – he is the striker with the licence to score!”

Kane has thrown himself into life in Munich, embracing the culture, trips to Oktoberfest, visiting supporters’ clubs and taking German lessons, even if he has previously joked his kids will learn the language before him.

“What he’s done extremely well is adapt to Bavaria with so much ease,” said Klinsmann. “He became part of the lifestyle, the city and his family just fit into the way of life there.

“It’s an international place, Munich, so it’s not too problematic but still, you’ve got to go to another country and keep your work-rate at the highest level while figuring out that your family are comfortable and having a good time.”

He is popular, too. Kane quickly struck up a friendship with Bayern’s all-time leading appearance-maker Thomas Muller, who will leave at the end of the season, and is known to play golf with the Germany forward and midfielder Konrad Laimer, among others.

Naturally, he is also good friends with former Spurs team-mate Eric Dier, another player well-liked throughout the squad, with both England internationals regarded as being important to team chemistry at Bayern.

“The people love him,” added Klinsmann. “He is just himself. He is humble and down to earth. He focuses on what is important and for him, that is scoring goals.”

‘No-one deserves title more than Kane’

After six final defeats – three with Spurs, two with England and one with Bayern – the humble yet ruthless goal-getter’s perseverance has paid off.

Kane’s first German title is Bayern Munich’s 34th, but there can be no doubting the Englishman’s importance to Kompany’s side.

“It helps when you have a top player who wants to run and fight for the team like a youth player,” said the former Manchester City and Belgium captain. “I played against him as an opponent and he has become better with age.”

Kane is the division’s top scorer with 24 goals and has 36 in all competitions this season, having scored 11 in the Champions League.

That was a competition in which Bayern were desperate to reach the final at their home stadium in Munich, but Kane missed a big chance in the quarter-final first leg against Inter and, despite scoring in the return in Milan, they were knocked out.

“At the end, we talked with him and he said, ‘yeah, everybody is right to expect me to make that goal, I didn’t do it, that’s fate,'” said Khalil, shrugging off critics who suggest Kane does not score in “big games”.

“Whenever there are bad moments, after the match, in the mixed zone, Harry walks through and he stops, he is talking, he accepts the situation.”

Bayern were also knocked out of the German Cup by Leverkusen, but in the Bundesliga – bar a brief wobble in March when they lost at home to lowly Bochum – Kompany’s side, with Kane at its heart, have led from the front.

His form during this title run is a continuation of what began in his debut season, where he netted 36 times – only Gerd Muller and Lewandowski have scored more in a single Bundesliga campaign.

“The team clicks well with the players around him,” said Klinsmann. “He plays in a system that he’s getting fed by attacking midfielders.

“He’s extremely important to the Bayern side and he’s done a fantastic job from day one.”

In April, he became the fastest player to hit 60 goals in the competition, doing so in 60 appearances to break Erling Haaland’s record by five games. He also registered 15 assists in that time to average a goal involvement every 72 minutes.

“He fights, he works, he scores an incredible number of goals,” added Bayern’s honorary president Uli Hoeness. “No-one deserves it more than him.”

What next for Kane?

Khalil believes more trophies will follow for Kane, and Bayern’s focus will soon switch to winning the Fifa Club World Cup in the United States this summer.

“The moment Bayern Munich went out of the Champions League, they started to talk about the Club World Cup,” he said. “It’s another big trophy, an international trophy, and they would make a lot of money.”

That could play a role in Kane’s future and whether Bayern can afford to add widely linked, but expensive, target Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.

“Everybody wants him to stay,” said Khalil, with Kane’s contract running until 2027.

“The question is, would Florian Wirtz together with Jamal Musiala, the two German youngsters playing side by side, work with a central box striker and how much money do you want to spend on Harry Kane for next season?

“For me, that’s stupid, I definitely see him next year in the Bundesliga. They have to find another way to finance Florian Wirtz.

“I think we will see Harry Kane for at least another year.”

Kane delivers as Bayern hammer Leverkusen 5-0 on aggregate http://34.58.148.58/kane-delivers-as-bayern-hammer-leverkusen-5-0-on-aggregate/ Tue, 11 Mar 2025 22:57:18 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2513796 Bayern Munich secured their place in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, after wrapping up a 5-0 aggregate victory over Bayer Leverkusen.

Harry Kane and Alphonso Davies were on target in the second leg at BayArena, where Vincent Kompany’s side got the better of their Bundesliga counterparts.

After keeping their opponents at bay during the first half, protecting their 3-0 advantage from the opening leg, Bayern struck within seven minutes of the restart.

Leverkusen failed to deal with Joshua Kimmich’s free-kick, with Patrik Schick helping the delivery into the path of Kane, who slotted into an empty net.

The England captain turned provider as Kompany’s side put the tie beyond any doubt 19 minutes from time.

Receiving the ball on the edge of the box, Kane neatly found Davies, who beat Lukas Hradecky with a well-controlled half-volley.

Jamal Musiala struck the woodwork twice later on, but the job was already well and truly done for Bayern, who are through to a record-extending 23rd Champions League quarter-final.

Kane nets brace as Bayern cruise past 10-man Leverkusen http://34.58.148.58/kane-nets-brace-as-bayern-cruise-past-10-man-leverkusen/ Thu, 06 Mar 2025 05:24:11 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2511805 Harry Kane scored a brace as Bayern Munich thumped the 10 men of Bayer Leverkusen at Allianz Arena in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League last-16 tie.

The Englishman opened the scoring in the all-German clash after just nine minutes as he powered home a wonderful header from Michael Olise’s cross from the right.

Vincent Kompany’s men dominated proceedings, but it wasn’t until the second half when they found their second as Jamal Musiala prodded home from a couple of yards after Matej Kovar spilt a routine cross into the box.

Things shortly went from bad to worse for Xabi Alonso’s men as Nordi Mukiele was shown a second yellow card for scraping his studs down the back of Kingsley Coman’s leg.

Leverkusen’s second-half capitulation continued when substitute Edmond Tapsoba hauled Kane to the ground from a corner, and Michael Oliver pointed to the spot following a check of the pitchside monitor.

It was Bayern’s No. 9 who stepped up, and he found the top-right corner with his spot-kick to take his tally to nine goals in the Champions League this season.

It could have got even worse for Leverkusen in stoppage time as Joao Palhinha grazed the crossbar with an empty net to aim into after being teed up by Musiala, following a fabulous piece of skill to flick the ball over Mario Hermoso’s head inside the area.

Victory sees Bayern get the better of Leverkusen for the first time in seven attempts since Alonso took charge, while Kompany’s men also extended their unbeaten run across all competitions to 10 games.

Before the sides reconvene for the second leg next Tuesday, Bayern will look to extend their eight-point lead over Leverkusen in the Bundesliga as they host Bochum on the weekend while Alonso’s men entertain Werder Bremen.

Kane helps Bayern beat Slovan Bratislava http://34.58.148.58/kane-helps-bayern-beat-slovan-bratislava/ Wed, 29 Jan 2025 21:35:44 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2498604 Harry Kane helped Bayern Munich to beat Slovan Bratislava but victory was only good enough to earn the German club a play-off spot in the Champions League.

Thomas Muller converted a free header on the edge of the six-yard box to set Bayern on their way. The goal, his 56th in the competition, moved the 35-year-old joint-sixth on the all-time Champions League scorers list.

Bayern had a firm grip on proceedings throughout, controlling the game deep inside Slovan Bratislava territory but had to wait until the 63rd minute for Kane to grab their second.

Kane met a deflected Jamal Musiala cross with a powerful header from just a couple of yards out for his sixth goal in the competition this season.

Kingsley Coman added a third for the hosts with a cool side-foot finish after goalkeeper Dominik Takac parried into his path.

Marko Tolic scored the goal of the night, rifling the the ball into the roof of the net, to reduce the deficit in stoppage time.

Bayern climb up to 12th in the standings but results elsewhere denied them a top-eight spot and they will need to come through a play-off tie to reach the last 16.

Slovan Bratislava end the campaign in 35th and without a single point.

Kane injured as Bayern fight back to draw at Dortmund http://34.58.148.58/kane-injured-as-bayern-fight-back-to-draw-at-dortmund/ Sat, 30 Nov 2024 19:53:26 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2477686 Harry Kane limped off as his Bayern Munich side came from behind to draw 1-1 away at Borussia Dortmund.

Jamie Gittens’ superb solo effort in the first half looked to condemn Vincent Kompany’s side to their first Bundesliga defeat of the season, only for Jamal Musiala to equalise with five minutes left.

What had been a quiet first half in ‘Der Klassiker’ soon sparked into life when Nico Schlotterbeck’s pass down the left found Gittens on the halfway line.

The England Under-21 international turned past Bayern right-back Konrad Laimer and drove into the penalty area before his fizzed left-footed strike was too hard for Bayern’s Manuel Neuer to stop.

In the 27th minute, Gittens became the second Englishman to score in this fixture after Kane, who netted a hat-trick against Dortmund last season.

Bayern’s first half was made worse six minutes later when Bundesliga top scorer and England captain Kane was forced off before half-time. He signalled to be replaced and was moving gingerly, but not as a result of a tackle.

The visitors failed to really test Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel until the second period.

Thomas Muller, who replaced Kane, should have levelled shortly after the restart when teed up at the end of Musiala’s mazy run, but could not beat the outstretched hand of Kobel.

Musiala, who had gone close himself to levelling from distance, did eventually level when heading in a cross from substitute Michael Olise.

The Germany midfielder’s sixth goal in 10 Bundesliga fixtures this term kept Bayern’s unbeaten domestic record intact.

A draw kept them top, seven points clear of Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen. Frankfurt will cut that lead to four points, though, should they win at Heidenheim on Sunday.

A point for Dortmund moved them up to fifth place, above Freiburg on goal difference.

Kane shares Ballon d’Or top scorer award with absent Mbappe http://34.58.148.58/kane-shares-ballon-dor-top-scorer-award-with-absent-mbappe/ Mon, 28 Oct 2024 22:59:57 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2465471 Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe won the Ballon d’Or Gerd Muller Trophy for scoring the most goals in Europe, though Real Madrid forward Mbappe did not attend the ceremony in Paris.

England captain Kane, who joined Bayern Munich from Tottenham last summer, scored 44 goals in 45 competitive games in his first season with the German club.

Mbappe netted 44 goals in 48 appearances in his final season with Paris St-Germain.

The France forward was not at the ceremony at Paris’ Theatre du Chatelet along with the rest of his Real Madrid representatives.

According to AFP and several Spanish news outlets, Real Madrid cancelled plans to attend after hearing that Vinicius Junior would not win the men’s award.

The European champions told AFP that its delegation would not go “where it is not respected” after learning Vinicius, favourite to win the award, would not be crowned the world’s best male player.

“Thank you to my club Bayern Munich, all my staff, and teammates, for helping me score all the goals I scored,” Kane said.

“It’s an honour to take this award from a club legend [Karl-Heinz Rummenigge]. It was a new chapter for me. Going to Germany, taking my family with me was a new experience, I didn’t know what to expect.

“To get off to the start I did, credit to my teammates. I went along for the ride and we had a good season.”

When ceremony co-host Didier Drogba asked Kane what area of his game he would like to improve, the England captain replied: “My speed. Although age might be catching up with me.”

Kane nets hat-trick as Bayern beat Stuttgart http://34.58.148.58/kane-nets-hat-trick-as-bayern-beat-stuttgart/ Sat, 19 Oct 2024 21:22:41 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2462143 England captain Harry Kane netted a hat-trick to guide Bayern Munich to an impressive victory against Stuttgart.

Kane’s goals – plus one from Kingsley Coman – helped Bayern end a three-game winless run in all competitions.

They faced a tough task against a Stuttgart side who sat back and limited their chances, leading Vincent Kompany’s side to enter the break frustrated and with the deadlock unbroken.

Bayern eventually found a way past Stuttgart’s steely defence when Kane drilled a low effort into the bottom corner from around 30 yards out after Joshua Kimmich overturned possession.

Having waited until the 57th minute to get the better of Alexander Nubel, it took under three minutes for the next to arrive with Kane producing an excellent bit of skill to flick the ball over a lying defender and power home from close range.

He was then in the right place to bundle home again after a Kimmich effort deflected off a visiting defender and grab his third goal of the game.

Substitute Coman inflicted a late fourth blow, taking advantage of another deflection before smartly turning inside and firing into the far corner.

Victory saw Bayern – who had drawn their previous two league matches – return to the top of the Bundesliga, sitting ahead of RB Leipzig on goal difference. Stuttgart, meanwhile, are ninth.

The Bavarians return to action on Wednesday when they travel to take on Barcelona in the Champions League (20:00 BST).

Bayern striker Kane to be assessed before Villa game http://34.58.148.58/bayern-striker-kane-to-be-assessed-before-villa-game/ Wed, 02 Oct 2024 06:03:05 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2455730 Striker Harry Kane will be assessed before Bayern Munich’s Champions League game at Aston Villa on Wednesday.

The England captain came off in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen with an ankle problem.

He has trained and travelled with the squad for the match at Villa Park, and a decision will be made on the day.

“I think you have seen Harry was on the pitch today, that went well but we will still have to wait until tomorrow and see how the situation is and then we will make the correct decision,” said Bayern boss Vincent Kompany.

“He trained with us today and hopefully everything will work out fine.”

Kane has 10 goals in seven appearances this season, while on Thursday interim England manager Lee Carsley names his squad for the Nations League games against Greece and Finland.

‘Every challenge is different’

Image caption: Vincent Kompany left Burnley for Bayern Munich in May after the clubs agreed a compensation fee believed to be £10.2m

Bayern are unbeaten under Kompany, scoring 30 goals in seven games, are top of the Bundesliga and beat Dinamo Zagreb 9-2 in their Champions League opener last month, with Kane scoring four.

Kompany replaced Thomas Tuchel in the summer after leaving Burnley, despite being relegated from the Premier League with the Clarets last season.

Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso, Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann and Austria coach Ralf Rangnick all turned down the job.

But, on his return to England, Kompany believes he has nothing to prove.

The former Manchester City captain said: “It’s important to separate things. Every challenge is different and the context is different. The most important thing for a coach is to say ‘have you done everything you could? Have you done your best for the team?’

“If you go home every night and at the end of the day if have you done everything you could to make the team better then you should have no regrets.

“I don’t come here carrying anything from the past apart from lessons. It’s different players, clubs, it’s a different context, situation and season and you have to leave it behind and focus on what’s ahead.”

Bayern ‘positive’ over Kane injury http://34.58.148.58/bayern-positive-over-kane-injury/ Sun, 29 Sep 2024 15:21:10 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2454667 Bayern Munich say the initial diagnosis on Harry Kane’s ankle injury is “positive” after he limped out of the 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.

England captain Kane, 31, was substituted in the 86th minute of the Bundesliga match at the Allianz Arena following a challenge by Leverkusen’s Amine Adli.

Bayern said Kane “suffered a painful blow to his ankle” but that examinations by the medical department on Sunday “revealed a positive development”.

Vincent Kompany’s side face Aston Villa in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Kane reportedly said on Saturday night that he expects to be fit for the trip to Villa Park.

Leverkusen took the lead in Munich through Robert Andrich, who crisply found the bottom corner after Granit Xhaka played the ball into his path.

Aleksandar Pavlovic fired a sumptuous 25-yard strike into the top corner to level for Bayern, despite goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky getting a hand to it.

Two minutes after the break Serge Gnabry struck a post from Kane’s floated cross before hitting the crossbar with the rebound.

Alphonso Davies shot wide from the edge of the box and Konrad Laimer fired just past the post for Bayern.

They remain top of the table, two points ahead of RB Leipzig and three ahead of defending champions Leverkusen.

UCL: Kane scores four and breaks record in Bayern rout http://34.58.148.58/ucl-kane-scores-four-and-breaks-record-in-bayern-rout/ Tue, 17 Sep 2024 23:05:00 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2450349 Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane scored four goals to become England’s top scorer in Champions League or European Cup history in a demolition of Dinamo Zagreb.

Kane’s fourth – his third penalty of the game – was his 33rd Champions League goal as he passed Wayne Rooney’s old record of 30.

The quadruple also marked his 50th, 51st, 52nd and 53rd Bayern goals in just 50 games for the club.

Another London-born player, France winger Michael Olise, scored twice on his Champions League debut.

Bayern Munich are the first team to score nine goals in a Champions League game.

Kane gave Bayern the lead with a penalty after Aleksandar Pavlovic was fouled, sending goalkeeper Ivan Nevistic the wrong way.

Raphael Guerreiro scored a fantastic half-volley before Olise, the summer signing from Crystal Palace, headed in Joshua Kimmich’s cross.

Bayern brought on Sven Ulrich for the injured Manuel Neuer at half-time and he conceded twice in five minutes before touching the ball – with Bruno Petkovic and Takuya Ogiwara beating him to make it 3-2.

But Bayern took control again – with Kane scoring a rebound after Kimmich’s shot was saved – and Olise slotting into an empty net.

England’s Kane then scored his second spot-kick after a dubious handball decision from the video assistant referee.

And he netted a hat-trick of spot-kicks, and his fourth goal overall after Alphonso Davies was fouled.

Leroy Sane came off the bench to smash in from 20 yards and Leon Goretzka headed in their ninth.

Jamal Musiala, Serge Gnabry and Kane also had goals disallowed for offside.

This is the joint second-highest-scoring Champions League game ever, level with Monaco’s 8-3 win over Deportivo La Coruna in 2003. The record remains Borussia Dortmund’s 8-4 win over Legia Warsaw in 2016.

Thomas Muller came on for Bayern for his 152nd Champions League appearance, passing Barcelona legend Xavi as the player to make the most appearances for a single club in the tournament.

Kane has scored nine goals in five games for Vincent Kompany’s Bayern this season, also hitting a hat-trick in Saturday’s 6-1 win at Holstein Kiel.

Kane scores hat-trick in thumping Bayern Munich win http://34.58.148.58/kane-scores-hat-trick-in-thumping-bayern-munich-win/ Sat, 14 Sep 2024 21:28:40 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2449187 Harry Kane scored a hat-trick as Bayern Munich took just 13 seconds to open the scoring against newly promoted Holstein Kiel, returning to the top of the Bundesliga with an emphatic win.

Kane nodded on for Jamal Musiala to run clear and score Bayern’s joint second-fastest goal in the Bundesliga era.

Kane scored twice in a rampant first half either side of an own goal from Nicolai Remberg, with former Crystal Palace forward Michael Olise grabbing his first Bayern goal after the break.

Kane then scored a penalty in stoppage time to wrap up victory and a fifth hat-trick for the club.

Vincent Kompany’s side have won all three league games while Kiel – in their first Bundesliga season – have yet to record a point.

Only striker Giovane Elber has scored a faster goal in the Bundesliga for Bayern than Musiala, the Brazilian netting after 11 seconds against Hamburg in 1998.

Musiala made no mistake after two defenders collided before former Tottenham and Fulham man Lewis Holtby gave the ball away and Musiala teed up Kane for the second.

Kane has now scored against all 18 teams he has faced in the Bundesliga, and after Remberg turned into his own goal the England captain curled in a fine second from 20 yards.

Olise swept in a rebound after Alphonso Davies had a shot saved to put Bayern 5-0 up, but Armin Gigovic gave the home fans something to cheer when he headed in a late consolation, their first goal at home in the league.

There was still time for Kane to win – and convert – a spot-kick in added time.

Kane gets standing ovation on Tottenham return – friendlies round-up http://34.58.148.58/kane-gets-standing-ovation-on-tottenham-return-friendlies-round-up/ Sat, 10 Aug 2024 22:57:54 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2432197 Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane was given a standing ovation at former club Tottenham as the German side beat Spurs 3-2 in a pre-season friendly.

Kane came on as a late substitute on his first trip back to the London club who he left to join Bayern last summer in a deal worth £86.4m plus add-ons.

The England captain was applauded when he came on and also when he went on a solo lap of honour at the end of the game.

Kane said he “probably shouldn’t have been playing” as he only returned to training on Friday, having helped England reach the final of Euro 2024, but he “was always going to play 10 minutes and it was good”.

He added: “Everything was really rushed through last year, so we didn’t have a chance [to say goodbye], but it was great way to say thank you to all of them.

“The reception I got was amazing and great to clap them around the pitch after, those who stayed behind, and I will always be thankful for every Spurs fan for the support they’ve given me through my whole career. It’s been incredible.

“I just appreciate them seeing me and me seeing them again.”

Kane and Eric Dier, who left Tottenham to join Bayern in January, were also given gifts by Spurs prior to kick-off for their services to the club.

Tottenham also introduced new signings Dominic Solanke, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall to their fans before the game started.

When the action got under way, Dejan Kulusevski put Spurs in front only for goals from Dayot Upamecano, Serge Gnabry and Thomas Muller to give Bayern a 3-1 lead.

Kulusevski grabbed a second to reduce the deficit but the Bundesliga club, managed by Vincent Kompany, held on.

Following the exit of Solanke, Bournemouth managed a 3-2 win against Girona.

The Cherries went ahead through a Justin Kluivert penalty only for Christian Stuani and Joel Roca to put the Spanish club 2-1 in front.

Luis Sinisterra equalised for Bournemouth before Daniel Jebbison converted a close-range finish for the winner.

Aston Villa ended their pre-season schedule witha 2-0 defeat at Borussia Dortmund in front of a 81,365 crowd.

Argentina keeper Emiliano Martinez and England defender Ezri Konsa returned for Villa after their respective returns from international duty at the Copa America and Euro 2024.

Konsa conceded a spot-kick for a challenge on Karim Adeyemi, with Emre Can scoring from the penalty spot to give last season’s beaten Champions League finalists the lead before they quickly added a second through Julian Brandt.

Forwards Ollie Watkins and Jhon Duran were not in the squad for Villa, who open their Premier League campaign at West Ham on Saturday, 17 August.

Brazil midfielder Lucas Paqueta, who has been charged by the Football Association over betting breaches, played for West Ham for the first time in pre-season as they hosted Celta Vigo and won the game on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

Jarrod Bowen gave the Hammers the lead before Mihailo equalised for the Spanish side.

Paqueta then put the home side back in front only for Pablo Duran to level again for Celta Vigo.

Summer signings Niclas Fullkrug and Crysencio Summerville came on for West Ham in the second half before they went on to win on penalties at a London Stadium where the attendance was impacted because of a boycott by fans over changes to ticket concessions this season for Under-21s and pensioners.

A Harvey Barnes strike gave Newcastle United a 1-0 win against Brest, while Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored an equaliser for his side as they drew 1-1 with Roma, who took the lead through Lorenzo Pellegrini.

Wolves were beaten 1-0 by Rayo Vallecano, while Leicester City were on the end of a 3-0 loss at Lens in France.

Brighton made it four wins from four in their pre-season campaign as they beat Villarreal 4-0.

Joao Pedro gave the Seagulls the lead before goals from Danny Welbeck and Yankuba Minteh.

Brighton, who appointed Fabian Hurzeler as manager in the summer after the exit of Roberto de Zerbi, scored their fourth when Welbeck added his second with a late penalty.

New Fulham signing Emile Smith Rowe, who joined the Cottagers from Arsenal, scored with a shot from a tight angle as his side beat Hoffenheim 2-0 in Germany.

Adama Traore added a second for Fulham, who start the Premier League season with a game against Manchester United on Friday, 16 August.

Harry Kane shares Euro 2024 Golden Boot with three goals http://34.58.148.58/harry-kane-shares-euro-2024-golden-boot-with-three-goals/ Sun, 14 Jul 2024 23:18:47 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2421895 England captain Harry Kane shared the Euro 2024 Golden Boot with five other players after finishing the tournament on three goals.

Spain’s Dani Olmo, Georgia’s Georges Mikautadze, the Netherlands’ Cody Gakpo, Slovakia’s Ivan Schranz and Germany’s Jamal Musiala also won a share of the award.

Neither Kane nor Olmo scored in the Euro 2024 final, which Spain won 2-1.

Previous Euros have seen assists used as a tie-break, which would have given Leipzig midfielder Olmo the award on his own, but Uefa announced this year’s would just be decided on goals.

Bayern Munich’s Kane, 30, scored against Denmark in the group stages, an extra-time winner against Slovakia in the last 16 and the equaliser against the Netherlands in the semis.

It caps a prolific season for Kane, who won his first European Golden Shoe – as the top scorer in any of Europe’s top flights – with 36 Bundesliga strikes.

Former Tottenham striker Kane, England’s all-time leading scorer, also won the Golden Boot at the 2018 World Cup with six goals.

Spain and Manchester City midfielder Rodri, who went off at half-time in the final through injury, was named the player of the tournament.

The Young Player of the Tournament award went to Spain’s 17-year-old winger Lamine Yamal – who set up four goals and scored once in Germany.

Lineker and Shearer defend England criticism after Kane comments http://34.58.148.58/lineker-and-shearer-defend-england-criticism-after-kane-comments/ Mon, 24 Jun 2024 16:47:39 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2412668 Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer have defended their criticism of Harry Kane and England’s performance in their 1-1 Euro 2024 draw with Denmark.

Three Lions captain Kane said the former England internationals who are now pundits should “remember what it’s like to wear the shirt” before they criticise Gareth Southgate’s side.

Kane was one of a number of players who were criticised for their performances in the match that left England on four points after two games in Group C.

Former England strikers Lineker and Shearer analysed the performance on the BBC’s coverage before Lineker later used an expletive to describe the team’s performance on his Rest is Football podcast.

Speaking on the podcast on Monday, Lineker claimed journalists were “stirring the pot” while Shearer said England’s best response would be on the pitch.

“We’ve been critical of England’s performances, as has pretty much every journalist, but you know how it happens,” said Lineker.

“We’ve talked about this a few times before, about journalists not being brave enough to ask their own questions.

“I guarantee whoever that was was probably critical themselves. They do it a) to stir the pot and b) because they’re too scared to ask a question from their own selves.

“It puts Harry on the spot. I thought he answered it fine.

“There was one bit there where he says that we have responsibilities as ex-England players, that we should know better and that we never won anything or words to that effect.

“Fine, he’s absolutely right. But I will say one thing. The last thing in the world we want to be is downbeat and critical. We want the England team to perform well on the pitch. The best punditry of all is when England play well.”

Shearer added: “It’s important we never get personal. That’s the most important thing.

“They were terrible and we have to say that. If England were brilliant we’d say they were brilliant, that’s the way it is.

“As a player you always get the right of reply on the pitch. I have no problem what we said, I wouldn’t take anything back we said.

“England were really poor. I think the vast majority of the country, and even the boys in the squad, will know they were awful against Denmark. There were hardly any positives.”

England play Slovenia in their final game in Group C in Cologne on Tuesday (20:00 BST).

Euro 2024: Pundits must remember tournaments are tough – Kane http://34.58.148.58/euro-2024-pundits-must-remember-tournaments-are-tough-kane/ Mon, 24 Jun 2024 08:17:21 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2412312 Harry Kane says that former England internationals who are now pundits should “remember what it’s like to wear the shirt” before they criticise Gareth Southgate’s side.

England captain Kane was one of a number of players who were criticised for their performance in the 1-1 draw with Denmark at Euro 2024 by a number of pundits, including ex-England internationals Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker.

When asked about the critics on television, Kane said they should remember how “tough” it is to perform in a major tournament.

“I would never want to be disrespectful to any player, especially a player who has worn the shirt and knows what it is like to play for England,” Kane said.

“But what ex-players now have got to realise is it is very hard not to listen to it now, especially for some players who are not used to it or some players who are new to the environment.”

Kane believes former Three Lions players have “a responsibility” because their words carry so much weight with football fans.

“I know they have got to be honest and give their opinion, but also they have a responsibility of being an ex-England player that a lot of players look up to and people do listen to them and people do care what they say,” said Kane.

“The bottom line is we haven’t won anything as a nation for a long, long time and a lot of these players were part of that as well and they know how tough it is. So it is not digging anyone out, it is just the reality that they do know it is tough to play in these major tournaments and tough to play for England.”

The Bayern Munich striker added that: “Being as helpful as they can and building the lads up with confidence would be a much better way of going about it”.

Kane, who scored England’s goal against Denmark, was substituted when it was 1-1 and his fitness levels have also been questioned.

Manager Gareth Southgate also said the team aren’t in the physical condition to “press” the opponent how they would like.

“If I’m honest with myself … have I played the best that I know I can? No. But I didn’t score in the group stage at the World Cup, I didn’t score in the group stage at the Euros,” said Kane, England’s record goalscorer.

“So from my point of view, it’s a bonus to be one goal ahead. I’d always judge myself first and I know I can play better and I know a lot of players in the team think the same – that we can all play a little bit better.

“I don’t panic. I don’t get too high or too low. I’ll keep doing what I do and just go onto the next one.”

England are in control of Group C and avoiding defeat against Slovenia on Tuesday (kick-off 20:00 BST) will guarantee progression to the last 16.

Kane said England would have taken this scenario before the tournament “for sure” with their four points almost certain to be enough for one of the best third-placed spots should they lose to Slovenia and Denmark beat Serbia.

“We can be honest with ourselves that we haven’t played the way we want to play but the good thing is we have still got results without doing that,” Kane said.

“But Tuesday is important for the feeling of the group, we want to finish top and take the momentum into the knockout stages and just all round have a better feeling coming off the pitch and take that into the rest of the tournament.”

‘I feel so sorry for him’ – no Kane, no gain for Bayern http://34.58.148.58/i-feel-so-sorry-for-him-no-kane-no-gain-for-bayern/ Thu, 09 May 2024 07:43:57 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2392069 When Harry Kane was on the pitch, Bayern Munich were heading to the Champions League final. When he wasn’t there, they weren’t – and aren’t.

Thomas Tuchel substituted Kane in the 85th minute against Real Madrid. At that point, Bayern were protecting a one-goal lead and were going to Wembley with the England captain having led their charge.

So while there are other factors in play – notably Manuel Neuer’s error as he spilled the ball to allow Joselu his first of a dramatic late double, plus Madrid’s innate ability to win big European games even when hope seems lost – the substitution has been pinpointed as the turning point.

It also encapsulates what the 2023-24 season has been for Bayern – a campaign where they have looked lost when without Kane. And now, Kane ends his debut campaign at Bayern with nothing.

“He has done his job. He has scored the goals,” Champions League winner Rio Ferdinand told TNT Sports.

“They brought him to continue winning trophies and I feel the others have let him down more than anything. I think he will have a heavy heart tonight.”

While Bayern were after the seventh European Cup in their history, Kane was looking for the first major trophy of an otherwise stellar career.

Certainly, this season could not have been better from an individual perspective for Kane, scoring 44 goals in all competitions – his best ever scoring season.

Yet while Kane has shone, this flawed Bayern side have fallen short and will end the season without a major trophy for the first time since 2011-12.

“I feel so sorry for Kane. What a superstar he has been and he doesn’t have an opportunity [in a Champions League final],” former Bayern midfielder Owen Hargreaves told TNT Sport.

“Poor guy. He has been amazing this season and that just didn’t go to plan in the last 10 minutes.”

‘The moment Tuchel lost this for Bayern’

Harry Kane has scored 44 goals in 45 games across all competitions for Bayern this season

In that 2011-12 campaign when Bayern finished empty-handed, Kane was finishing a season on loan from Tottenham to Millwall, where he scored seven goals in 22 League One games and was still a year away from his Premier League debut.

This season, he has almost singlehandedly tried to drag Bayern to glory.

Bayern’s second highest scorer, Jamal Musiala – also subbed off in Madrid – has just 12 goals in all competitions.

However, hampered by poor performances and bad decisions around him, Kane has come up just short.

Bayern lost their 11-year grip on the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen, were knocked out of the German Cup by third-tier Saarbrucken and now they will be stunned having seemed set for an all-German final in the Champions League.

After a quiet opening quarter of the match at the Santiago Bernabeu, Kane sprung to life with a snap volley from the D in the 28th minute which Andriy Lunin had to go full stretch down to his left to save.

But Bayern around him were again off the pace, with a passive showing that saw Madrid dominate. Only a series of fine saves from Neuer kept the tie level, until Kane made his most telling intervention.

Alphonso Davies’ strike with his supposed weaker right foot to put Bayern ahead on the night caught the eye, but it was Kane who made the play by dropping deep, then spraying an idea pass out to the left for the Canadian full-back to take on, cut inside and fire home.

Kane’s value to Bayern stretches way beyond goals. He even led the complaints to the referee when Nacho shoved Joshua Kimmich in the face before Madrid appeared to have equalised, prior to the goal being ruled out by VAR.

But then came the turning point, as with five minutes remaining Tuchel replaced Kane with Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting as part of a series of changes to try and see out the match.

“That will be viewed as the moment Tuchel lost this for Bayern,” German football expert Archie Rhind-Tutt told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“You could see it in his facial expression after the second Madrid goal went in – he looked shaken. He usually has a very good poker face, Tuchel. That for me was a guy who knew it had all gone wrong.”

Tuchel, due to depart at the end of the season, defended his call, saying Kane was in no state to continue.

“He couldn’t keep going. He played with back pain and he couldn’t keep going, his back froze up,” Tuchel said.

Shortly before Kane came off, Choupo-Moting’s fellow former Stoke City player Joselu was thrown on by Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti – and he snatched the striking glory.

As the Real players streaked on to the pitch to celebrate Joselu’s winner, Kane was left in the away team dugout to wonder what might have been.

Kane reveals Bellingham mind games before penalty http://34.58.148.58/kane-reveals-bellingham-mind-games-before-penalty/ Wed, 01 May 2024 09:32:18 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2388575 Harry Kane has revealed Jude Bellingham said “you’re going to go left of the keeper” as the Real Madrid midfielder tried to put off his England team-mate before the Bayern Munich forward took his penalty in the Champions League semi-final.

Bellingham could be seen mumbling something to Kane as the Bayern striker stepped up to take the spot-kick in the 57th minute of the first leg.

However, the England captain placed his penalty to the right of goalkeeper Andriy Lunin to give Bayern a 2-1 lead at Allianz Arena – although Vinicius Junior later also converted from the spot as the match ended all square.

Kane said afterwards he did not hear what Bellingham said on the pitch but that the 20-year-old told him after the match.

“In the moment, I didn’t know what he said but I spoke to him after and he said: ‘I know you’re going to go left of the keeper’.

“On the pitch, I knew he was there but I didn’t know what he said. But I went left anyway.

“It was nice for me because I saw the keeper go a little bit early and I put it away.”

Kane reportedly asked Bellingham what he had said after the match and the England midfielder laughed as he realised the former Tottenham Hotspur striker had been too focused to hear him at the time.

It was Kane’s 43rd goal in 43 games in all competitions this season and helps Bayern in their aim of finishing the season on a high, with the Champions League the only trophy they remain in contention for.

Kane left Tottenham last summer for an initial £86m in the hope of winning trophies with 11-time Bundesliga champions Bayern.

But Bayer Leverkusen have already halted that run while Thomas Tuchel’s side were knocked out of the German Cup in the second round by third-tier side Saarbrucken.

The first leg leaves the tie finely balanced for the return on Wednesday at the Bernabeu to decide who goes to the final on 1 June at Wembley.

Kane sets personal record with double in Bayern win http://34.58.148.58/kane-sets-personal-record-with-double-in-bayern-win/ Sat, 27 Apr 2024 16:56:01 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2387007 England striker Harry Kane scored twice in Bayern Munich’s win over Eintracht Frankfurt to set a new personal record for his most goals in a season.

The 30-year-old has scored 42 goals in all competitions in his debut campaign for Bayern, beating his previous best haul of 41 for Tottenham in 2017-18.

His first goal saw him tuck home a cross from nine yards before he converted a penalty in the second half.

The double means Kane has now scored 400 goals for club and country.

He has netted against 16 of the 17 other Bundesliga teams – a joint record in a campaign along with Gerd Müller (1966-67 & 1969-70), Ailton (2003-04) and Robert Lewandowski (2019-20 and 2020-21).

Kane is the first player to score or assist against all 17 sides in a debut season – with Kane assisting against Freiburg in October, but failing to score in either match.

The Three Lions captain, who received treatment on a knee injury in the second half but was able to continue playing, is six short of Lewandowski’s record of 41 goals in a Bundesliga season, with three games remaining.

Bayern sit second in Bundesliga, 11 points behind champions Bayer Leverkusen, who host Stuttgart at 17:30 BST on Saturday.

Manager Thomas Tuchel is set to leave Bayern at the end of the season and said this week he would not be “influenced” by a petition from fans asking him to stay.

Harry Kane scores as Bayern Munich thump Union Berlin http://34.58.148.58/harry-kane-scores-as-bayern-munich-thump-union-berlin/ Sat, 20 Apr 2024 18:56:28 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2383684 Harry Kane scored his 33rd goal in the Bundesliga as Bayern Munich thrashed Union Berlin 5-1 at Stadion An der Alten Forsterei.

Leon Goretzka scored in the 29th minute with a fine finish from inside the box.

England captain Kane expertly curled in a free-kick to put Bayern 2-0 up on the stroke of half-time.

Second-half goals came from Mathys Tel and a double from Thomas Muller before Yorbe Vertessen scored a late consolation.

Union’s game plan was clear in the first half as they sat in a low block and tried to counter-attack Thomas Tuchel’s side, who were fresh from securing their place in the Champions League semi-finals.

But their heads dropped once Germany international Goretzka and Kane had made it 2-0, and Bayern raced away in the second period.

Tuchel’s side have moved three points ahead of Stuttgart as they look to secure second spot, with Bayer Leverkusen winning the Bundesliga title last weekend.

Union, however, remain three points above the relegation play-off spot.

Bayern Munich: Harry Kane says season will be failure if they fail to win Champions League http://34.58.148.58/bayern-munich-harry-kane-says-season-will-be-failure-if-they-fail-to-win-champions-league/ Tue, 16 Apr 2024 16:43:38 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2381817 Harry Kane says Bayern Munich’s season will be a failure if they do not win the Champions League.

Bayern host Arsenal on Wednesday in their quarter-final second leg, with the tie level at 2-2.

The German side only have the Champions League to play for after their run of 11 successive Bundesliga titles was ended by Bayer Leverkusen last weekend.

“We still have an opportunity to turn this season into a great season if we win the Champions League,” said Kane.

“Of course, from the club’s point of view it will be a failed season if we don’t win anything this year because we’re expected to win, but all we can do is take that into next year and try and turn that around.”

Former Tottenham striker Kane, who is yet to win a trophy in his career, also played down the significance of taking on Arsenal, Spurs’ north London rivals.

The England captain, who has scored 39 club goals in all competitions this season, was released by the Gunners as a youngster.

“I had a lot of history with Arsenal, playing for Spurs, for so many years in that north London derby, obviously it was the biggest game of the season every year probably, but it’s a different chapter,” added Kane.

“Maybe it was in the back of my mind, being released from a young age, there was always a point to prove, and I feel like I’m the type of player who throughout my whole career has had points to prove. I don’t think that ever leaves you.”

UCL: Arsenal should not fear Kane, says Odegaard http://34.58.148.58/ucl-arsenal-should-not-fear-kane-says-odegaard/ Tue, 09 Apr 2024 05:24:54 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2378660 Arsenal will not “fear” Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane when they face the German champions in their Champions League quarter-final, says captain Martin Odegaard.

Kane has scored 38 goals since joining Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur last summer, having netted 14 for Spurs in 19 games against the Gunners.

The first leg at Emirates Stadium is on Tuesday at 20:00 BST.

“[He’s] a good player, we know his quality in the box,” said Odegaard.

“I think we should respect him but I don’t think we should fear anyone and we should focus on ourselves.”

Kane is joint top of the Champions League scorers chart this season with six goals in eight matches, a feat matched by Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann.

Nobody across Europe’s top five leagues has scored more top-flight goals than his 32 this campaign.

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus called Kane “the best finisher in the world” while manager Mikel Arteta said “his numbers over the past 10 years are unbelievable”.

Despite Kane’s goalscoring achievements, Bayern are very unlikely to secure a 12th consecutive Bundesliga title this season. They trail leaders Bayer Leverkusen by 16 points.

As for Arsenal, they are top of the Premier League on goal difference with seven games remaining.

The Gunners are hoping to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time in 15 years.

Bayern last reached the semis when they won the competition in 2020 and boss Thomas Tuchel wants his side to put disappointing domestic form behind them – though he said Arsenal will provide a “massive test”.

“Arsenal are currently the best team in the Premier League and that is deserved – all the data shows that,” Tuchel told a media conference on Monday.

“We know about our own strengths and how we want to cause them pain. We know the Champions League is a competition where we have more experience over the last few years. We want to use it to our advantage.”

The former Chelsea boss also believes Kane’s experience against Arsenal will be key.

“I think it’s enjoyable for Harry to be here at Arsenal in a quarter-final of the Champions League,” he said.

“It will make him very happy to score and I don’t see anything holding him back. Harry always helps you to win. He will help us perform.”

Bayern Munich: Harry Kane passed fit for Der Klassiker http://34.58.148.58/bayern-munich-harry-kane-passed-fit-for-der-klassiker/ Fri, 29 Mar 2024 15:07:03 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2374921 Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has been passed fit to face Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga on Saturday, manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed.

Kane, 30, suffered an ankle injury in a 5-2 win against Darmstadt prior to the international break.

He reported for duty with England but sat out the 1-0 loss against Brazil before returning to Germany to recover, missing the 2-2 draw with Belgium.

“It’s all fine, he’ll play [against Dortmund],” Tuchel said.

Kane joined Bayern from Tottenham in August for an initial 100m euros (£86.4m) and is the leading scorer in the German top flight with 31 goals in 26 games.

England’s all-time top scorer hit a hat-trick when Bayern won November’s Der Klassiker 4-0 at Dortmund.

Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is not ready to make his return, though, after tearing a thigh muscle during training with Germany last week.

Neuer, 38, is expected back for the trip to Heidenheim on 6 April, which could put him in the frame to start against Arsenal in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final at Emirates Stadium on 9 April.

“Manuel Neuer is out. It’s nothing to do with risk. The pain is simply too great. We hope a week is enough,” Tuchel said.

Bayern are 10 points behind Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen, with Dortmund 10 points further back in fourth.

The label of ‘Der Klassiker’ is afforded to Bayern-Dortmund matches because of a decades-long rivalry at the top of the German game.

Bundesliga champions Bayern announced in February that boss Tuchel will leave at the end of the season and Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso was heavily linked with the role.

But Alonso effectively ruled out any possibility of taking over at Bayern this summer by announcing at a news conference on Friday that he would not be leaving his current position in the summer.

Kane sets league best as Bayern beat Darmstadt http://34.58.148.58/kane-sets-league-best-as-bayern-beat-darmstadt/ Sun, 17 Mar 2024 16:26:24 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2369639 Harry Kane set a new personal best of 31 league goals in a season as Bayern Munich beat Darmstadt to close the gap on Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen to seven points.

Darmstadt took the lead through Tim Skarke before Jamal Musiala levelled.

Kane’s diving header put Bayern in front and Musiala dribbled past the Darmstadt defence for his second.

Substitute Serge Gnabry and Mathys Tel made it five for Bayern with Oscar Vilhelmsson scoring Darmstadt’s second.

Despite being bottom of the table, Darmstadt gave Bayern a few scares in the first half but tired in the second period as Bayern exerted their control.

There was one moment of concern for England captain Kane in the second half when he appeared to injure his ankle colliding with a goalpost.

Kane was substituted after the incident in the 82nd minute and Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel was unsure how serious it was.

“He slipped and fell into the net and twisted his ankle,” said Tuchel. “He’s cooling it down with ice and we don’t have a diagnosis yet.

“When Harry goes off it’s never a good sign because Harry never goes off when there’s still goals to score.”

Records continue to tumble for Kane

Harry Kane celebrates scoring against Darmstadt
Harry Kane has been involved in 40 Bundesliga goals in just 26 games (31 goals and nine assists)

Kane had previously scored 30 goals in two Premier League seasons while at Tottenham Hotspur.

He has also set a new record for the most goals in a Bundesliga debut campaign, overtaking the previous record set by Uwe Seeler (30) for Hamburg in 1963-64 – which was the first season of the Bundesliga.

He will return to England for the Champions League quarter-finals next month when Bayern face his old foes Arsenal – he has scored 14 goals against the Gunners in 19 appearances.

The first leg takes place at Emirates Stadium on 9 April with the return leg a week later on 17 April.

Harry Kane sets hat-trick record as Bayern win 8-1 against Mainz http://34.58.148.58/harry-kane-sets-hat-trick-record-as-bayern-win-8-1-against-mainz/ Sat, 09 Mar 2024 18:21:39 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2367023 Harry Kane became the first man to score four hat-tricks in his debut Bundesliga season as Bayern Munich reduced Bayer Leverkusen’s advantage to seven points.

With Leverkusen hosting Wolfsburg on Sunday, Bayern looked to maintain the pressure on the runaway leaders and they responded with an emphatic win against relegation-threatened Mainz.

England captain Kane, 30, took his tally to 30 goals in 25 Bundesliga games, as well as providing a wonderful assist for Jamal Musiala.

Bayern are aiming for a record-extending 12th successive title but their tight grip on the Bundesliga is under severe threat of being lifted by Xabi Alonso’s impressive Leverkusen.

Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel insists his side, who put their domestic woes behind them to reach the Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday, are not giving up hope.

While the former Chelsea manager said they understood the “reality” of the situation, he promised Bayern would continue to try to make “statements of intent”.

This clinical performance against Mainz was certainly that.

After Kane tapped in the opener, Leon Goretzka doubled the advantage by reacting first to the England striker hitting the post from Joshua Kimmich’s quick free-kick.

Mainz reduced the gap through Nadiem Amiri but Kane struck again before half-time with a clinical finish.

Any hope Mainz had going into the second half was extinguished when Thomas Muller scored the fourth in similar fashion to Bayern’s opener.

As with Kane’s first, Musiala was the creator with a pinpoint low cross from the left and veteran Germany international Muller was waiting to stroke in.

As Mainz applied pressure in the hope of reducing the gap, they were punished again.

Kane broke quickly and picked out Musiala with a superb cross-field pass which the Germany winger despatched, before Serge Gnabry audaciously flicked in a sixth.

Kane, who signed for almost £90m from Tottenham last summer, completed his hat-trick with his 40th goal for club and country this season, with Goretzka adding an eighth in injury time.

Trailing 1-0 from the first leg in Rome, Bayern looked set for a frustrating night until Kane’s header levelled the scores on aggregate.

Long-serving Thomas Muller doubled the lead on the night with another header.

Kane made it 3-1 on aggregate from close range after Leroy Sane’s shot was parried into his path.

It was an impressive turnaround by Bayern, who have endured a bitterly disappointing domestic campaign.

Thomas Tuchel’s side were facing a first season without a major trophy since 2011-12.

However, this win keeps alive Tuchel’s hopes of delivering Bayern a seventh European title before the former Chelsea boss leaves at the end of the season.

The quarter-final draw takes place on 15 March.

Harry Kane hits stoppage-time winner as Bayern beat Leipzig http://34.58.148.58/harry-kane-hits-stoppage-time-winner-as-bayern-beat-leipzig/ Sat, 24 Feb 2024 22:14:07 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2361022 Harry Kane scored a stoppage-time winner as Bayern Munich beat RB Leipzig to pick up an important win in the Bundesliga title race.

Kane placed in a brilliant left-footed finish after Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting got in behind the Leipzig defence and cut back for the England captain.

The former Tottenham striker scored the opener too, firing in left-footed after being put in by Jamal Musiala.

Benjamin Sesko’s deflected equaliser had looked set to earn Leipzig a point.

Kane has now scored 27 Bundesliga goals and 31 in all competitions since joining from Spurs in the summer.

Bayern remain second in the Bundesliga, eight points behind the unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen.

The win comes after Bayern this week confirmed head coach Thomas Tuchel would leave at the end of the season.

Bayern have been German champions in each of the past 11 seasons but face the possibility of ending the campaign without a trophy.

They lost in the German Super Cup in August and then went out of the German Cup in the second round to third-tier Saarbrucken in November.

Tuchel’s side lost 3-0 at Leverkusen on 10 February and 3-2 at Bochum last weekend. They were also beaten 1-0 by Lazio in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie in midweek.

Harry Kane scores as Bayern and Leverkusen both win http://34.58.148.58/harry-kane-scores-as-bayern-and-leverkusen-both-win/ Sat, 03 Feb 2024 17:54:47 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2351257 Harry Kane scored his 24th Bundesliga goal to help Bayern Munich beat Borussia Monchengladbach and keep pace with leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

Kane headed Bayern in front in the 70th minute after Aleksandar Pavlovic had cancelled out Nico Elvedi’s opener for Gladbach.

Matthijs de Ligt added a third for the German champions who remained two points behind Leverkusen.

Two goals from Nathan Tella helped Xabi Alonso’s side beat Darmstadt 2-0.

What goalscoring records could Kane break next?

Already the record holder for taking the fewest Bundesliga matches – just 14 – to reach 20 goals, England captain Kane continues to eclipse expectations in Germany.

Kane’s headed finish after a poor clearance from Gladbach keeper Moritz Nicolas helped the 30-year-old equal the record for the most goals after 20 matches of a Bundesliga season – his total of 24 bringing him level with two former Bayern strikers – Gerd Muller in 1969-70 and Robert Lewandowski in 2020-21.

Although winning a first major trophy of his career will be Kane’s primary objective this campaign, he is still on course to break a number of long-standing individual records.

Kane is six strikes away from matching Uwe Seeler’s record for the most goals in a debut Bundesliga season – 30 for Hamburg in 1963-64.

He is 15 goals from matching the all-time top English scorer in the Bundesliga – Tony Woodcock scoring 39 times for Cologne in two spells between 1979 and 1988.

It is also not entirely out of the question that Kane betters Erling Haaland’s record for fewest matches to reach 50 Bundesliga goals – which he did in 50 games – this term.

But Kane would have to seriously pick up the pace if he wants the individual record for the most goals for Bayern in a single season. Gerd Muller netted 66 in 1972-73.

Goals from Aleksandar Pavlovic and Alphonso Davies had given Bayern a comfortable lead at the break.

And Kane then tapped in to restore their two-goal advantage after Ermedin Demirovic had headed in for the hosts.

Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer saved Sven Michel’s penalty but Demirovic’s spot-kick set up a nervy finale.

On-loan Tottenham defender Eric Dier made his first start for Thomas Tuchel’s injury-hit side, with Konrad Laimer, Joshua Kimmich and Dayot Upamecano among nine absentees.

Meanwhile, Deniz Undav scored a hat-trick as Stuttgart thrashed RB Leipzig 5-2 to tighten their grip on third spot.

Leipzig – who face Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League in February and have now lost their last three matches in Germany’s top flight – sit fourth on the same points as Borussia Dortmund, who have played a game fewer.

Leverkusen, who have a game in hand over Bayern, play Borussia Monchengladbach later on Saturday (17:30 GMT).

Kane hits 20th Bundesliga goal in record 14th game http://34.58.148.58/kane-hits-20th-bundesliga-goal-in-record-14th-game/ Sun, 17 Dec 2023 21:54:44 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2333548 Harry Kane scored a double to become the quickest player to ever reach 20 Bundesliga goals as Bayern Munich beat fourth-placed Stuttgart.

England’s Kane, in his 14th Bundesliga game, slotted Leroy Sane’s pass into an empty net within 90 seconds.

After Thomas Muller and Kim Min-jae had goals disallowed for offside, striker Kane headed in Bayern’s second from close range.

Kim netted the third with a header, his first goal for the German champions.

Kane has reached 20 league goals in 14 games, demolishing the old record set by Hamburg legend Uwe Seeler, who took 21 games to reach that mark in the Bundesliga’s first season back in 1963-64.

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, then of Borussia Dortmund, was next with 22 games in 2020.

Kane is the second player ever to score 20 goals this quickly in a Bundesliga season, after Bayern and Germany legend Gerd Muller in 1968-69.

He moves four goals clear of the Bundesliga’s second top scorer, Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy, who barely had a chance at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern remain four points behind surprise leaders Bayer Leverkusen, who beat Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0 earlier on Sunday.

Xabi Alonso’s side have not lost any of their 24 competitive games this season, a joint record for any German side from the start of a season – after Hamburg, who went on to win the title and European Cup in the 1982-83 campaign.

Record-breaking Kane sends Bayern top of Bundesliga http://34.58.148.58/record-breaking-kane-sends-bayern-top-of-bundesliga/ Sat, 25 Nov 2023 08:58:39 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2324150 England captain Harry Kane scored again as Bayern Munich won at Cologne to move top of the German Bundesliga table.

Kane’s goal was his 18th in 12 league matches and he also became the first Englishman to score 18 times in a Bundesliga season.

He finished from close range in the 20th minute after Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s shot was cleared off the line.

The victory takes Bayern one point ahead of Bayer Leverkusen, who play their game in hand on Saturday.

Leverkusen, the only other unbeaten side in the German top flight, will regain top spot if they win at Werder Bremen.

Bayern’s match was their first against Cologne since beating them 2-1 in May when Jamal Musiala scored a last-minute winning goal to beat Borussia Dortmund to the title. Dortmund would have become champions for the first time since 2011-12 if they had defeated Mainz but instead drew 2-2.

Since then, Bayern have signed Kane from Tottenham in an £86.4m deal as they bid for a 12th consecutive Bundesliga title.

Against Cologne, Kane was at the heart of Bayern’s best moves and they almost went ahead when his pass found Leroy Sane, but the former Manchester City forward could not lift the ball over home goalkeeper Marvin Schwabe.

But Bayern did not have to wait long before going ahead.

Sane played it to Choupo-Moting, he cut inside and had a shot cleared off the line by Julian Chabot, with Kane tapping home the rebound.

As well as becoming the top-scoring Englishman in one Bundesliga season, the 30-year-old became the first player in league history to have scored 18 times after the opening 12 matchdays.

England’s record goalscorer has 22 goals in 17 appearances in all competitions for Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Choupo-Moting, Sane and Kingsley Coman missed chances to double Bayern’s advantage.

Davie Selke had a rare chance for Cologne, who drop to the bottom of the table but failed to beat Manuel Neuer with a header at the back post.

Coman hit the crossbar in the second half, and the hosts then offered little as an attacking threat as Bayern took the victory.

Most goals in one Bundesliga season from an Englishman

  • 18 – Harry Kane (Bayern Munich, 2023-24)
  • 17 – Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund, 2019-20) and Kevin Keegan (Hamburg, 1978-79)
  • 15 – Tony Woodcock (Cologne, 1981-82)

Kane breaks a Bundesliga goals record in Bayern win http://34.58.148.58/kane-breaks-a-bundesliga-goals-record-in-bayern-win/ Sat, 11 Nov 2023 22:52:39 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2317888 England captain Harry Kane continued his impressive goalscoring form with a double against Heidenheim as Bayern Munich moved top of the Bundesliga.

Kane netted two goals in the first half to take his tally to 17 for the season.

Having scored a hat-trick in each of his previous two Bundesliga matches, Kane has set a new league record for the most goals scored after 11 games.

He overtakes Robert Lewandowski’s tally of 16 from 11 matches in 2019, while Bayern sit top of the table by a point.

They lead second-placed Bayer Leverkusen, who would reclaim top spot with victory on Sunday when they host Union Berlin at 14:30 GMT.

Former Manchester City winger Leroy Sane provided both assists for Kane, finding him inside the box for the opener as the striker spun and fired the ball into the top corner.

Sane’s corner was then met with a precise, towering header from Kane to give Bayern a 2-0 lead before Heidenheim mounted a comeback in the second half.

Two goals in three minutes from Tim Kleindienst and Jan-Niklas Beste cancelled out Kane’s double, but substitute Raphael Guerreiro swiftly restored Bayern’s lead in the 72nd minute, following up on a rebound to slot into an empty net.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting also came off the bench to confirm victory for Bayern late on.

Kane, who joined Bayern from Tottenham this summer, has already outscored last season’s joint-top scorers of the Bundesliga – Christopher Nkunku and Niclas Fullkrug finished on 16 goals each.

It is also the 10th season in a row Kane has scored 20 or more club goals, while his tally of 17 goals in 11 Bundesliga games equals Erling Haaland’s haul for Manchester City at the same stage in the Premier League last season.

CL: Kane hits double as Bayern beat Galatasaray to reach last 16 http://34.58.148.58/cl-kane-hits-double-as-bayern-beat-galatasaray-to-reach-last-16/ Wed, 08 Nov 2023 22:58:05 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2316662 Harry Kane scored twice as Bayern Munich beat Galatasaray to reach the last 16 of the Champions League.

England captain Kane headed home from a Joshua Kimmich free-kick in the 80th minute.

He added a second soon after, slotting home from Mathys Tel’s pass across the Galatasaray defence.

Cedric Bakambu replied from Sergio Oliveira’s ball over the top in the third minute of added time, but it came too late for Galatasaray.

Bayern top Group A with 12 points, but toiled to victory as Leroy Sane and Jamal Musiala were denied by goalkeeper Fernando Muslera.

Kane hit the woodwork after sliding in at the near post as well as heading over from a corner.

But he became the third English player to reach 25 goals in the Champions League when he put his side ahead.

Galatasaray thought they had taken the lead when Lucas Torreira finished from a Mauro Icardi flick, but Argentine striker Icardi was ruled offside.

Bayern suffered an injury blow as Musiala went off after injuring his hamstring in the first half, but they maintained their focus to book their place in the knockout phase.

Galatasaray are third in the table, level on four points with second-placed FC Copenhagen who beat Manchester United 4-3.

Kane hits hat-trick in big Bayern win at Dortmund http://34.58.148.58/kane-hits-hat-trick-in-big-bayern-win-at-dortmund/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 20:18:47 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2314851 Harry Kane’s impressive start to life at Bayern Munich continued as the England captain hit a hat-trick in a statement win at Borussia Dortmund.

Bayern are chasing a remarkable 12th consecutive Bundesliga title and they turned on the style to establish a 2-0 lead inside the opening 10 minutes.

Dayot Upamecano headed the visitors into a fourth-minute lead before Kane doubled the lead five minutes later.

Kane added the third and fourth goals after half-time.

The former Tottenham forward has a remarkable 15 goals in 10 league Bundesliga appearances after his third hat-trick since joining Bayern in the summer.

After scoring three against Darmstadt last week, Kane has back-to-back hat-tricks in the Bundesliga.

Dortmund, unbeaten in the league since 1 April before Saturday, went close through Donyell Malen while veteran Bayern keeper Manuel Neuer produced a fine save to keep out Marco Reus.

But the damage was done in the opening minutes when Dortmund were blown away by Bayern’s lightning start.

The only negative on an otherwise perfect day for Bayern came in the 43rd minute when boss Thomas Tuchel was booked for arguing with the officials.

Tuchel’s side are second in the table, two points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen who won 3-2 at Hoffenheim.

Meanwhile, fourth-placed Dortmund – who are home to Newcastle United in the Champions League on Tuesday (17:45 GMT) – are seven points off the top.

Harry Kane scores hat-trick as Bayern thrash Bochum http://34.58.148.58/harry-kane-scores-hat-trick-as-bayern-thrash-bochum/ Sat, 23 Sep 2023 19:16:57 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2297624 England captain, Harry Kane scored a hat-trick and assisted twice as Bayern Munich extended their unbeaten start to the Bundesliga season.

Kane reacted quickly to smash home a loose ball in the Bochum box in the first half before converting a penalty after the break.

He secured the match ball by turning home a pass from Noussair Mazraoui in the 88th minute.

Kane delivered precise passes to set up Leroy Sane and teenager Mathys Tel.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Matthijs de Ligt also scored for the Bavarians.

Kane, whose goal on Wednesday helped Bayern to a 4-3 Champions League victory over Manchester United, has netted seven in his first five Bundesliga matches.

The haul on Saturday was his first domestic league hat-trick since December 2017, when he scored consecutive trebles for Tottenham against Burnley and Southampton.

Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern now have four wins and one draw after their opening five games and top the table with 13 points.

Bochum, who were pulled apart whenever Bayern went forwards and thoroughly outclassed, continue to look for their first victory of the campaign.

CL: Kane on target for Bayern as Man Utd beaten again http://34.58.148.58/cl-kane-on-target-for-bayern-as-man-utd-beaten-again/ Thu, 21 Sep 2023 08:53:53 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2296497 Manchester United were given a taste of what could have been as Harry Kane helped Bayern Munich to victory over Erik ten Hag’s struggling side in a high-scoring and eventful Champions League opener.

It was no secret that the Red Devils would have liked to have signed Kane from Tottenham in the summer, but instead, England’s captain and record goalscorer opted for a career in Germany that has begun in stellar fashion.

At the Allianz Arena on Wednesday, the 30-year-old claimed both an assist and scored from the penalty spot – after a VAR check to rule Christian Eriksen had handled in the box – to take his tally of goals this season to five in five games in all competitions.

It was a timely strike from Kane too as it came just after Rasmus Hojland had scored his first United goal to make it 2-1 early in the second half and give his side some hope of a result.

Before that, goalkeeper Andre Onana had undone a disciplined start from the visitors with a shocking error to allow Leroy Sane’s drive to slip under him and find the net in the 28th minute.

Four minutes later, Serge Gnabry struck low and accurately inside the far corner to make it 2-0.

It is to the visitors’ credit that they came out swinging to try and make a contest of it but their current fragility and lack of options from the bench as a result of numerous injuries undermined their ability to compete.

Casemiro showed dogged determination to smuggle a second in for United to give them a glimmer of hope but Mathys Tel snuffed that out by hammering a Bayern fourth high into the net in added time.

United were not finished, with Casemiro heading home Bruno Fernandes’ free-kick from close range with almost the last kick of the game, but it was too late.

An opening-game loss at the six-time champions of Europe will not define the campaign, especially with FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray – who drew 2-2 earlier on Wednesday in Istanbul – both more beatable in the group, but they are now in dire need of a response to restore some focus and faith.

Harry Kane scores as Bayern and Leverkusen draw thriller http://34.58.148.58/harry-kane-scores-as-bayern-and-leverkusen-draw-thriller/ Sat, 16 Sep 2023 08:28:57 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2294854 Harry Kane scored his 300th career club goal as Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen drew a Bundesliga thriller.

Kane headed in for his fourth goal in four Bundesliga games before Alex Grimaldo levelled with a brilliant free-kick into the top corner.

Leon Goretzka scored what looked like a Bayern winner with four minutes to go from Mathys Tel’s cutback.

But Exequiel Palacios netted a penalty, awarded by the video assistant referee, in injury time to rescue Leverkusen.

Dayot Upamecano thought he had scored Bayern’s winner with almost the last kick but it was ruled out for offside.

Kane’s close-range opener made him the first Bayern player to score four goals in his first four Bundesliga games since Miroslav Klose in 2007.

It brought his club career total to 300, with 280 for Tottenham, nine for Millwall, five for Leyton Orient, four for Bayern and two for Leicester.

Bayern and Leverkusen both lose their 100% starts to the season but maintain their unbeaten records.

Kane scores twice as Bayern Munich beat Augsburg http://34.58.148.58/kane-scores-twice-as-bayern-munich-beat-augsburg/ Sun, 27 Aug 2023 20:52:16 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2287913 England captain Harry Kane scored twice on his home Bundesliga debut for Bayern Munich as the champions continued their winning start to the league season.

Kane became the first English player to score in his first two Bundesliga games when he clipped a penalty down the middle just before half-time.

The ex-Tottenham forward wrapped up the 3-1 win after the break with a lovely finish with the outside of his foot.

Thomas Tuchel’s side dominated possession throughout.

“Great game today,” said Kane in a video on social media afterwards. “To score two goals in front of you fans was a special feeling.

“Lots of improvement still to come but to start the season with two wins is a really great start, so thanks for the support as always.

“You know [I] appreciate every single one of you there in the stadium singing my name, so look forward to next week now, recover well and let’s keep it going.”

After a sluggish start, Bayern got into their stride and opened the scoring when Leroy Sane’s shot hit the post and went in off defender Felix Uduokhai.

Referee Sascha Stegemann then awarded a penalty for Niklas Dorsch’s handball after being called to check his monitor by the Video Assistant Referee, with Kane converting the spot-kick with ease.

After the break Bayern looked far brighter, Sane curling a fine shot against the post, before Alphonso Davies found Kane onside and free in the middle to loft a calm finish into the net.

Substitute Dion Beljo wriggled free to poke in a late consolation for the visitors, while Kane wasted a chance to complete his hat-trick when he headed wide.

However, he has now scored in his last seven league appearances, stretching back to his time in the Premier League at Spurs.

Harry Kane made right decision to leave Tottenham – Alan Shearer http://34.58.148.58/harry-kane-made-right-decision-to-leave-tottenham-alan-shearer/ Mon, 14 Aug 2023 11:55:07 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2283196 Harry Kane “made the correct decision” in joining Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur, says the Premier League’s all-time top scorer Alan Shearer.

The 30-year-old England striker and captain has moved for an initial 100m euros (£86.4m) plus add-ons.

He is Spurs’ and England’s record goalscorer – but has never won a major trophy with either.

“His career deserves some success,” former Newcastle and England striker Shearer told BBC Radio 5 Live.

Kane scored 213 goals from 320 Premier League games, leaving him 48 behind Shearer’s record. Some wondered if that would be a big enough target to stay at Spurs.

“I was a bit panicked when the plane was cancelled a few times, thinking is he going or not?” joked Shearer.

“Who knows, he could spend two or three years there and come back to have another crack at beating the record.”

Kane had one year left on his deal at Spurs, where he had spent his career to date excluding loan spells away, scoring 280 goals in 435 games for the club.

He could win a minor trophy within a day of joining Bayern, as they face Leipzig in the German Super Cup on Saturday night.

Shearer’s only silverware was the 1994-95 Premier League title with Blackburn. He moved to his boyhood club Newcastle for a then-record £15m but never won another competition.

“He had one year left on his contract and has now moved to a giant of a football club with a really, really good chance of winning the Champions League,” said Shearer.

“He’s going there to work under a very intelligent manager [in Thomas Tuchel] and to work alongside some excellent players.”

I did not want to end my career with regrets – Harry Kane http://34.58.148.58/i-did-not-want-to-end-my-career-with-regrets-harry-kane/ Mon, 14 Aug 2023 07:55:20 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2282988 Harry Kane said he did not want to finish his career with any “regrets” following his move to Bayern Munich.

The 30-year-old England captain left Tottenham after 19 years on Saturday to join the German champions for an initial 100m euros (£86m).

He made his Bayern debut as they lost 3-0 to RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup later in the day.

Striker Kane said his family were “fully behind” him and he had made “the best decision”.

He said: “I didn’t want to get to the end of my career with regrets at not experiencing different leagues and cultures.

“I spent my whole career in England and the Premier League, so it may take a bit of adapting to get used to a new league.

“As you saw yesterday with Leipzig, there are some great teams in this league and it is going to be a real challenge.

“I know people expect Bayern to win the league every year, but I think teams are improving and it is getting tougher.

“For me, it is about settling in, getting as comfortable as possible and understanding the different teams and how I need to adapt.”

Kane, who is Spurs’ all-time leading scorer with 280 goals in 435 games, said he will return to the club to say goodbye.

“I didn’t get chance to say goodbye properly,” he said. “I sent the players a text to say I was leaving, but I will go and do it properly when I can.”

Kane joined the Spurs academy in 2004, signed his first professional contract in 2010 and made his senior debut in 2011.

“It was always going to be a tough decision,” Kane said. “Ultimately, I’m a professional, I’ve always pushed myself to my limits and the time was right.”

Manchester City were reportedly interested in signing Kane in 2021 and, with only one year left on his Spurs contract, he was also linked with Manchester United and Real Madrid this summer.

Kane, who described the past 48 hours as a “rollercoaster”, said he intends to look for property in Germany for his family – his wife Kate is pregnant with their fourth child – and learn German.

‘I’ll have German lessons at least once or twice a week,” Kane said. “I want to fit in as much as possible and learning the language is important. I want to try and embrace the culture, embrace the country.”

England manager Gareth Southgate was one of the first people to congratulate Kane on his move.

Kane said: “He knows his striker for England is playing at the highest level and that can only help the national team.”

A three-time Premier League Golden Boot winner, Kane scored 213 goals in 320 games and needed 48 more to break Alan Shearer’s league record.

“People will talk about Alan Shearer and the record,” Kane said. “I’ve got plenty of football left in my career. For now, it is about reaching new levels with this club right now.”

Kane, who has never won a trophy in his professional career, has joined a team who lifted their 33rd Bundesliga title last season – and 11th in a row. They have also won the Champions League six times and 20 German Cups.

“If we get to the end of the season and we haven’t won every trophy, the club will be a little disappointed,” he said.

This season’s Champions League final will be played at Wembley next June.

“I joined this club to have a good chance of winning the Champions League, but for it to be at Wembley is amazing,” Kane said.

Bayern’s opening league game of the season is at Werder Bremen on Friday at 19:30 BST.

Harry Kane joins Bayern Munich ending record-breaking Tottenham career http://34.58.148.58/harry-kane-joins-bayern-munich-ending-record-breaking-tottenham-career/ Sun, 13 Aug 2023 19:16:52 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2282837 England captain Harry Kane has joined German champions Bayern Munich on a four-year deal, ending his record-breaking career at Tottenham.

The striker signs for an initial 100m euros (£86.4m) plus add-ons and could make his debut in Saturday’s German Super Cup game against RB Leipzig.

Kane, 30, leaves Premier League Spurs as their all-time top scorer with 280 goals in 435 appearances.

In a social media post he said he “felt this was the time to leave” Spurs.

Kane was linked with a move to Manchester City in 2021, and his future had been uncertain this summer because he only had one year left on his contract at Spurs.

He was also linked with Manchester United and Real Madrid earlier this summer before Bayern made their move. After having several bids rejected, a deal was agreed on Thursday, with Kane flying to Munich on Friday to finalise matters.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy said the club had “reluctantly agreed to his transfer”.

“We sought over a long period of time to engage Harry and his representatives in several forms of contract extension, both short and long term,” Levy said.

“Harry was clear, however, that he wanted a fresh challenge and would not be signing a new contract this summer.”

Kane is Bayern’s ‘dream player’

Kane has won the Premier League Golden Boot three times – in 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2020-21 – and with 213 goals from 320 games in the English top flight, needed just 48 more to break Alan Shearer’s Premier League scoring record.

Kane, who is England’s all-time leading scorer with 58 international goals and was the top scorer at the 2018 World Cup, has never won a major trophy with club or country.

“I’m very happy to be a part of FC Bayern now. Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world, and I’ve always said that I want to compete and prove myself at the highest level during my career,” said Kane, who will wear the number nine shirt at Bayern and has signed until 2027.

“This club is defined by its winning mentality – it feels very good to be here.”

Bayern Munich claimed their 33rd Bundesliga title last season – and 11th in a row – and have won the Champions League six times and German Cup on 20 occasions.

Bayern chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen said their pursuit had been “a long process” but that Kane was their “absolute dream player right from the start”.

“He is a perfect fit for us and the club’s DNA in terms of both football and character,” he added.

“World-class centre forwards have always been an important factor when FC Bayern has celebrated its greatest triumphs, and we’re convinced that Harry Kane will continue this success story

“Our fans can look forward to one of the best goal scorers of our time.”

Club president Herbert Hainer said the transfer required “tenacity, bite and perseverance”, adding: “Kane will not only strengthen FC Bayern, but also be a real asset to the entire Bundesliga.”

‘It’s not a goodbye’ – Kane’s message

Kane joined Spurs’ academy in 2004, signing his first professional contract in 2010 and making his senior debut in 2011.

Loan spells away from the club followed before he returned to establish himself as Spurs’ main striker in the 2014-15 season, scoring 31 goals in all competitions and winning the PFA Young Player of the Year Award.

He passed Jimmy Greaves as Spurs’ all-time top scorer in February 2023 with his 267th club goal in a 1-0 win over Manchester City and finished last season with 30 Premier League goals as Spurs ended a difficult season in eighth place.

Kane posted a video on social media saying: “Obviously, a lot of emotions going through me right now and sad to be leaving the club I’ve spent 20 years of my life at, from an 11-year-old boy, to a 30-year-old man.

“There have been so many great moments and special memories; memories I will cherish forever.”

He added: “I felt this was the time to leave. I didn’t want to go into the season with a lot of unresolved talk.”I think it’s important for the new manager and the players to concentrate on trying to get Tottenham back to around the top of the table and fighting for trophies.

“It’s not a goodbye because you never know how things will pan out in the future.”

Levy said Kane was a “model professional” and “an inspiration for young players who dream of following in his footsteps”.

“We have seen a product of our academy system become one of the best players to ever pull on a Spurs shirt and become one of world football’s elite strikers,” added Levy.

“It has been a truly remarkable journey.

“I should like to thank Harry for everything he’s done for us, all the memories, all the records – we wish him and his family all the best for the future.

“It goes without saying, he’s always welcome back. He’s a much loved and valued member of the Spurs family, forever in our history.”

Spurs face Brentford in their first match of the season on Sunday and manager Ange Postecoglou said the club would “move forward without Harry”.
