He is set to break the record by cooking for 360 hours equivalent to 15 days non-stop.

Millennium Chef commenced his attempt on February 1 and will end on February 15, at the Amadia Shopping Center at Spintex in Accra. 

This attempt adds to the recent number of Guinness world record attempts in the country including Chef Faila, who cooked for 227 hours, Afua Asantewaa who also attempted the World Record for the longest singing marathon by an individual, and one-year-old Ace-Liam, who wants to set the record as the youngest male artist.

The 23-year-old will be reading for 216 hours approximately nine days from 24th March to 1st April this year.

In an interview on the official media sponsor, Joy Prime TV, Mawena said his motivation for undertaking the marathon is to cultivate reading habits among students.

“I’m embarking on my Guinness World Record attempt to instill a reading habit in students and encourage Ghanaian authors that there’s a future in the literary world,” he said.

The existing record for the longest marathon reading aloud is held by Rysbai Isakov (Kyrgyzstan), who accomplished a feat of 124 hours in Bursa, Turkey, from September 22 to 27, 2022.

In her address at the end of the attempt, she said that there were many challenges people could take on and many other things they could do.

Afua Asantewaa noted that, she did not want people to stay boxed in.

The young woman had taken on the challenge to beat the existing record which stands at 105 hours set in 2012.

Asantewaa endured a five-day singing marathon which began at midnight on Sunday, December 24 and ended at 7:00 am on December 29.

At the time she ended her record attempt on Friday morning, the young woman had sung for five days, six hours and 55 minutes.

Ending her record attempt on an emotional note, Afua Asantewaa sang Osibisa’s ‘Woyaya’.

The national anthem was later played to honour her and celebrate her efforts.

Afua Asantewaa expressed profound gratitude to everyone, including political figures and celebrities, who supported her to achieve the feat.

Meanwhile, a party will be held on Friday evening to celebrate Efua Asantewaa.
