The right-back, who joined Fiorentina from Brighton earlier this summer, went down in the 20th minute while trying to control a pass. He landed awkwardly and immediately signalled for medical attention before being replaced by Fortini.

Fiorentina later confirmed that Lamptey had suffered an isolated ACL tear in his left knee. He has already undergone successful surgery conducted by Professor Mariani.

“Given the complex clinical picture, a diagnostic arthroscopy was performed, which confirmed the isolated laceration of the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee. The reconstruction was successfully carried out, and the player will now begin his rehabilitation path,” the club stated.

The injury is a major blow for Lamptey, who was making his first Serie A start for Fiorentina. Since his move to Italy, he has only featured in two appearances, totalling 25 minutes.

He is expected to be sidelined for at least six months, ruling him out of most of the 2025/26 season. The setback also means he will miss Ghana’s crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic and Comoros.

Lamptey’s absence is a significant loss for the Black Stars, depriving the national team of one of its most dynamic and versatile defenders ahead of critical fixtures.

]]> Tariq Lamptey joins Fiorentina from Brighton http://34.58.148.58/tariq-lamptey-joins-fiorentina-from-brighton/ Mon, 01 Sep 2025 09:23:37 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2573449 Italian Serie A side Fiorentina have confirmed the signing of Ghana international Tariq Lamptey from Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion.

The deal is reportedly worth £6 million, including potential add-ons. Lamptey will don the number 48 jersey and is expected to serve as a backup to Brazilian defender Dodo.

The 23-year-old’s 2024/25 season at Brighton was hampered by recurring injuries, limiting him to just 15 appearances. Despite this, he contributed two goals and several assists.

Lamptey was not included in Brighton’s matchday squads for the season opener fixtures against Fulham, Everton, and Oxford United, indicating the club’s intention to offload him this summer.

Since joining Brighton from Chelsea in 2020, Lamptey made 104 appearances, scoring three goals and showcasing his versatility on the flank.

He is now set to link up with his Black Stars teammates for Ghana’s upcoming Matchday 7 and 8 fixtures of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali later this month.

The deal is reportedly worth up to £6 million, including add-ons, with Lamptey expected to travel to Italy this weekend to finalise the move.

Lamptey is likely to serve as a backup to Brazilian defender Dodo as Fiorentina begins their new season.

Last term, the 22-year-old’s campaign at Brighton was disrupted by recurring injuries, restricting him to just 15 appearances. Despite these setbacks, he contributed two goals and several assists.

The Ghana international did not feature in Brighton’s opening three matches of the current season against Fulham, Everton, and Oxford United.

Since joining the Seagulls from Chelsea, Lamptey has made 104 appearances, scoring three goals, and has established himself as a versatile option on the flank.

In international news, Lamptey has been named in Ghana’s squad for Matchday 7 and 8 of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali next month.

Antony volley hands Betis first-leg lead over Fiorentina http://34.58.148.58/antony-volley-hands-betis-first-leg-lead-over-fiorentina/ Thu, 01 May 2025 22:50:56 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2530797 On-loan Manchester United winger Antony scored an emphatic volley to hand Real Betis a narrow 2-1 lead over Fiorentina in their Europa Conference League semi-final first leg.

He reacted sharply in the box to rifle a volley past former Old Trafford team-mate David de Gea, doubling the Spanish hosts’ advantage after Abde Ezzalzouli had put them into a sixth minute lead.

Ezzalzouli’s effort crashed down off the crossbar and in by mere inches, requiring referee Michael Oliver to consult with the video assistant referee to confirm the ball had fully crossed the line.

Antony’s strike took his tally to six goals and four assists across 19 appearances for Manuel Pellegrini’s side since joining in January.

Fiorentina captain Luca Ranieri later pulled a goal back for the visitors, arriving in the box to arrow a low drive past the outstretched hand of Francisco Vieites.

The Italian club had several chances to level the tie but were unable to find an equaliser as their nine-match unbeaten run came to an end.

Robin Gosens missed the best of them, glancing a header inches wide at the near post to ensure they face an uphill battle at home in Florence next week.

The winner of the tie will likely face Chelsea in the final on 28 May after they won 4-1 away to Djurgarden in the other semi-final first leg.

De Gea signs for Serie A side Fiorentina http://34.58.148.58/de-gea-signs-for-serie-a-side-fiorentina/ Fri, 09 Aug 2024 20:30:43 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2431782 Italian side Fiorentina have signed former Manchester United keeper David de Gea.

The 33-year-old spent last season on the sidelines after his contract at United ended in 2023.

Fiorentina said De Gea would be presented to the media on Monday, 12 August but did not state the length of the Spaniard’s contract.

De Gea made 545 appearances for United across 13 years and was part of the team that won the 2012-13 Premier League title.

He also lifted two League Cups, one FA Cup and the Europa League during his time at Old Trafford.

Fiorentina, who finished eighth in Serie A in 2023-24, last won a major trophy in 2001, when they claimed the Coppa Italia.

They have been beaten in the last two Uefa Conference League finals and are in the play-off round of the same competition again this season.

Ex-Man Utd keeper De Gea in talks with Fiorentina http://34.58.148.58/ex-man-utd-keeper-de-gea-in-talks-with-fiorentina/ Fri, 09 Aug 2024 09:43:13 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2431403 Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is in talks with Italian side Fiorentina about a possible return to the game.

De Gea, 33, spent last season on the sidelines after his contract at United came to an end.

Over the past few months he has released training footage – including some taken at National League club Altrincham, close to his home in north-west England.

His most recent post, on 25 June, included the words “ready to rock”.

Yet despite a huge amount of speculation, including over a potential switch to Major League Soccer in the United States, there has been no announcement as to where he will play next season.

Sources say nothing has been agreed with Fiorentina.

The Spaniard made 545 appearances for United across 13 years and was part of the team who won the 2012-13 Premier League title.

He also won two League Cups, one FA Cup and the Europa League during his time at Old Trafford.

Serie A side Fiorentina are owned by outspoken businessman Rocco Commisso, who was born in Italy but moved to the USA with his family when he was a child.

Fiorentina last won a major trophy in 2001, when they lifted the Coppa Italian. They have been beaten in the last two UEFA Conference League finals and are in the play-off round of the same competition again this season.

Olympiakos win Conference League to become first Greek side to lift European trophy http://34.58.148.58/olympiakos-win-conference-league-to-become-first-greek-side-to-lift-european-trophy/ Wed, 29 May 2024 12:36:48 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2402043 Ayoub El Kaabi struck four minutes from the end of extra time as Olympiakos beat Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League final to become the first Greek side to win a European trophy.

The Moroccan striker, hero of Olympiakos’ run to the final, stooped low to head in Santiago Hezze’s cross and spark pandemonium in the AEK Arena in Athens.

A lengthy video assistant referee check confirmed El Kaabi’s 11th goal of the competition and their place in Greek footballing history.

It is a second year of dramatic heartbreak for Fiorentina after the Italian side were beaten by West Ham in last season’s final thanks to Jarrod Bowen’s late goal.

Olympiakos flew out of the blocks as they attempted to reward their ferocious support, who had travelled the short distance from Piraeus to the home of their rivals AEK in northern Athens.

It was only the second time a Greek team had reached a European final while Fiorentina were playing in their sixth.

Both sides traded blows in a first half that promised goalmouth action but resulted in few clear chances.

On-loan Wolves midfielder Daniel Podence forced Fiorentina goalkeeper Pietro Terracciano into a fine save down his left in the opening three minutes.

Giacomo Bonaventura should have given Fiorentina the lead but his tentative effort in the box safely dropped into Konstantinos Tzolakis’ arms.

The Italians put together the best move of the night in the second half as right-back Dodo surged forward and found Christian Kouame in space inside the box but his poor contact on the ball allowed Tzolakis to claw it clear.

Extra time was needed it was El Kaabi – who scored five goals in the semi-finals against Aston Villa – who rose to the occasion again.

History for Greek football

Olympiakos thrashed Unai Emery’s fancied Villa side 6-2 on aggregate in the semi-finals but they still came into this game as underdogs against a Fiorentina team looking to right the wrongs of last season.

Panathinaikos were the only previous Greek team to feature in a European final, when they were beaten by Ajax in the 1971 European Cup final at Wembley.

As the game wore on, and chances became scarce, it looked like both sides would be happy to chance their luck in a penalty shootout.

But Olympiakos committed men forward in a late attack and the 30-year-old El Kaabi – whose career has taken him from Morocco to China, Turkey, Qatar and now Greece – was in the right place to write his name in Olympiakos folklore.

Lukaku sent off as nine-man Roma hold Fiorentina http://34.58.148.58/lukaku-sent-off-as-nine-man-roma-hold-fiorentina/ Mon, 11 Dec 2023 09:52:26 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2330477 Romelu Lukaku scored but was later sent off as nine-man Roma held on for a point at home to Fiorentina in Serie A.

The Belgium striker headed the hosts into an early lead from Paulo Dybala’s classy outside-of-the-boot cross.

Lucas Martinez Quarta’s glancing header brought Fiorentina level midway through the second half after Roma’s Nicola Zalewski collected a second booking.

Lukaku was given a straight red for a studs-up foul on Christian Kouame three minutes from the end but Roma held out.

Fiorentina ended a feisty game with 10 men after Nikola Milenkovic’s dismissal deep into stoppage time.

Jose Mourinho’s Roma are fourth in Serie A after 15 games, 13 points behind leaders Inter Milan. Fiorentina are a point behind Roma in seventh.

Man Utd sign Sofyan Amrabat on loan from Fiorentina http://34.58.148.58/man-utd-sign-sofyan-amrabat-on-loan-from-fiorentina/ Sat, 02 Sep 2023 11:37:26 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2289883 Manchester United have signed Fiorentina’s Morocco midfielder Sofyan Amrabat on a season-long loan.

United will pay a £8.6m (10m euros) loan fee, with an option to make the deal become permanent which would cost £17.1m (20m euros) plus £4.2m (5m euros) in add-ons.

Earlier, United signed full-back Sergio Reguilon, centre-back Jonny Evans and goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.

Amrabat, 27, said he was now “representing the club of my dreams.”

He spent three seasons at La Viola, making 92 league appearances and scoring once.

The Morocco midfielder, who starred for his country at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar as they finished fourth, has 49 international caps.

Amrabat was left out of Fiorentina’s squad for both legs of their Europa Conference League play-off against Rapid Vienna, which they won 2-1 on aggregate on Thursday.

“I’ve had to be patient for this moment but I’m someone who always listens to my heart,” he said.

“I am a passionate player; I want to bring that energy to the squad, and I will put everything into every action I take for the team.

“I know exactly how Erik ten Hag likes to work and what he needs from his players. His coaching and guidance developed me so much as a player earlier in my career; I know that he will help to bring out the best of my abilities so that I can help the group to be successful this season.”

Football director John Murtough said: “Sofyan’s committed, high-energy approach to the game fits perfectly with the group that we are building here.

“We know that Sofyan’s mentality, dynamism and technical qualities will help the squad as we look to achieve success in all competitions this season.”

Reguilon joins on loan

Tottenham full-back Reguilon has joined the club on a season-long loan.

Left-back Luke Shaw’s injury has forced Erik ten Hag’s side to go in search of a temporary defensive replacement.

A break clause has been included in the season-long deal for Reguilon, which can be activated in January.

Reguilon has appeared in the Premier League 52 times for Tottenham, scoring twice.

Evans signs one-year deal

Evans has re-signed for United, signing a one-year contract until June 2024.

In his previous spell, the 35-year-old defender won three Premier League titles, two League Cups and the Champions League during 198 first-team appearances.

“I am delighted to join Manchester United, a place which has always felt like home,” said Evans.

“This club and the fans have shaped me as a player and as a person since I was 15 years old, and I am delighted to be back where it all began as part of this talented squad.”

Bayindir gives United second goalkeeper option

Bayindir, 25, who has been capped five times by his country, joins on a four-year contract.

Last season he was a key player for Fenerbahce as they won the Turkish Cup and finished second in the Super Lig.

“It is a huge honour to join Manchester United and become the first Turkish player to represent this incredible club,” said Bayindir.

“I have a passion for success, and I will give everything to help this special group of players to achieve our ambitions.

“I cannot wait to start working with such an experienced goalkeeping unit. We will support each other and drive high standards every day so that each of us is ready to perform whenever called upon.”

Bayindir’s signing follows the exit of goalkeeper Dean Henderson, who has moved to Crystal Palace in a £20m deal.

David de Gea, who was United’s first-choice keeper last season, left the club earlier this summer after 12 years, while Cameroon’s Andre Onana joined from Inter Milan for £47.2m.

Europa Conference League: West Ham and Fiorentina charged by Uefa for incidents in final http://34.58.148.58/europa-conference-league-west-ham-and-fiorentina-charged-by-uefa-for-incidents-in-final/ Fri, 09 Jun 2023 20:08:11 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2258507 West Ham and Fiorentina have been charged by Uefa in relation to incidents at Wednesday’s Europa Conference League final.

Both clubs have been charged with “throwing of objects” while the Hammers have also been punished for “invasion of the field of play”.

Fiorentina captain Cristiano Biraghi was struck on the head by something thrown from the West Ham end in the first half of the game in Prague.

The Hammers won the match 2-1.

Fiorentina have also been charged with “lighting of fireworks”. Uefa says the matter will be decided in due course.

Police said 23 fans were arrested in Prague. One was a West Ham fan, the rest supporting Fiorentina.

Fiorentina fans attacked West Ham fans in a bar in central Prague, with 17 of the 22 fans of the Italian club detained over that incident.

West Ham win dramatic Europa Conference League final http://34.58.148.58/west-ham-win-dramatic-europa-conference-league-final/ Thu, 08 Jun 2023 08:13:44 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2257843 West Ham ended their 43-year wait for a major trophy as Jarrod Bowen scored a last-minute goal to beat Fiorentina and win the Europa Conference League in Prague.

The final seemed to be heading for extra time after Said Benrahma’s second-half penalty was cancelled out just seven minutes later by a well-taken effort from Giacomo Bonaventura.

It was a testy and sometimes bad tempered game – and at one point it got downright ugly as Fiorentina captain Cristiano Biraghi was struck by a plastic bottle thrown from the West Ham section.

The match was settled in the most dramatic manner.

Bowen timed his run to perfection as Lucas Paqueta slid a superb pass through the Fiorentina defence.

The England man ran free, steadied himself, then beat Pietro Terracciano with a calm finish to thrill the Hammers fans – who were far greater in number than the 5,000 tickets they were allotted – and send manager David Moyes running down the touchline to celebrate the first major silverware of his career.

It mean captain Declan Rice, in probably his final game for the club, emulated club greats Bobby Moore and Billy Bonds by leading the club to glory. Moore captained West Ham to the 1965 European Cup Winners’ Cup and Bonds led them to the FA Cup in 1975 and 1980.

The victory also seals a place in next season’s Europa League and means European football for the third year running for the first time in the club’s history.
