In a statement issued on February 18, 2026, the election monitoring group said the ruling does not absolve the EC of what it described as incompetence, bias and lack of transparency.

According to the group, the outcome raises concerns about accountability within the electoral management body and the broader electoral process.

“The lack of action suggests the government is prioritising institutional stability over electoral integrity,” the statement said.

Election Watch Ghana maintained that the petition raised legitimate concerns about the conduct and performance of the EC and insisted that the issues highlighted remain unresolved despite the ruling.

The group further criticised the Commission, describing it as lacking transparency and accountability, and reiterated its position that reforms are needed to strengthen the country’s electoral system.

“We reiterate our call for electoral reforms and a more transparent, accountable Electoral Commission. The fight for fair elections continues,” it added.

Election Watch Ghana also expressed regret that the petitioners were unable to build what it considered a stronger case to support their claims.

The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for electoral integrity and transparency, urging stakeholders to continue efforts to strengthen Ghana’s democratic processes.

Vote buying in Ayawaso East NDC primary a threat to democracy – Election Watch Ghana http://34.58.148.58/vote-buying-in-ayawaso-east-ndc-primary-a-threat-to-democracy-election-watch-ghana/ Mon, 09 Feb 2026 10:19:23 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2629088 Election Watch Ghana has raised alarm over alleged vote buying in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Ayawaso East constituency primary, describing the incidents as a serious threat to the credibility of the electoral process.

A video circulating on social media reportedly shows candidate Baba Jamal distributing televisions to voters and giving boiled eggs to delegates.

In a media interview, the candidate admitted to giving away the TVs as gifts.

In a statement released on Monday, February 9, 2026, Election Watch Ghana condemned the practice as undermining democratic principles.

The organisation noted that while Section 33 of the Representation of the People Law, 1992, prohibits vote buying in general elections, it does not explicitly address internal party primaries, creating a loophole that could encourage such behaviour.

The group also acknowledged the NDC’s quick response in condemning vote buying, urging the party to follow up with tangible measures.

“Taking disciplinary action against those involved would show that the party is serious about protecting the integrity of its electoral processes,” the statement added.

Election Watch Ghana pickets at EC Headquarters over delay in voter register release http://34.58.148.58/election-watch-ghana-pickets-at-ec-headquarters-over-delay-in-voter-register-release/ Mon, 19 Aug 2024 13:26:24 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2435716 An advocacy group, Election Watch Ghana, on Monday, August 19, gathered at the headquarters of the Electoral Commission (EC) to demand the immediate release of the Provisional Voter Register (PVR) to political parties.

This move comes in response to the EC’s delay in publishing the provisional voter register, which is mandated by the Constitutional Instrument governing the elections.

Despite prior assurances from the EC, the delay has raised serious concerns, particularly among the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other stakeholders in the upcoming general elections.

Addressing the media outside the EC headquarters, the Convenor of Election Watch Ghana, Mark Ewusi, expressed concerns that the delay is compromising the transparency and integrity of the electoral process.

“We all know that per the calendar of the Electoral Commission, tomorrow is said to be the day for the exhibition and it is very prudent for political parties to get hold of the provisional register so that we can scrutinise it for the exercise tomorrow.

“Unfortunately for us, we got here and the commissioners themselves and the workers had not resumed work,” he stated.
