He questioned the impartiality of certain EC officials, stating that those unable to perform their duties fairly should step down and pursue personal ventures.

“I am questioning the conduct of some EC officials… they cannot apply the rules differently when it suits them,” Dafeamekpor said during an interview on TV3 on Saturday, December 28, while discussing the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn a High Court ruling concerning the re-collation of results in some constituencies.

He added, “Be a party foot soldier if you can’t do the job. All we are saying is that the proper thing should be done.”

Meanwhile, Kwame Andy Appiah Kubi, the Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, praised the Supreme Court for overturning the High Court ruling on the re-collation of results in the disputed constituencies. Appiah Kubi, a private legal practitioner, stated that the High Court should have allowed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to present its case before making a judgment.

“The Supreme Court did a good job… the High Court ought to have allowed the NDC to make their case,” he said during the same Key Points appearance.

The Supreme Court has instructed the Accra High Court to reconsider the NDC’s mandamus application concerning four constituencies with disputed results: Okaikwei Central, Ablekuma North, Tema Central, and Techiman South.

EC official collapses at Dome Kwabenya collation centre http://34.58.148.58/ec-official-collapses-at-dome-kwabenya-collation-centre/ Sun, 08 Dec 2024 16:17:11 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2481120 An Electoral Commission (EC) official has collapsed at the Dome Kwabenya Collation Centre in the Greater Accra region.

The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon amid prolonged chaos over the collation of the 2024 election results.

It is unclear what caused the female official, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, to pass out.

Accra-based TV3 reported that the Police’s attempt to rush her for medical attention was delayed by irate youth who blocked the road, hindering access.

After several minutes, the police managed to navigate through the obstruction and rushed her to a nearby facility for treatment.

Following the resolution of chaos at the centre, reports suggest the collation process may be moved to the Police Headquarters or the Regional Police Command in Tudu.

Meanwhile, there has been heavy military deployment, with the police taking swift action to address the situation.

Supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have gathered at the collation centre after reports indicated that their candidate, Elikplim Akurugu, has taken an early lead.

The EC Director of Training, Dr Serebour Quaicoe sounded the message of caution in an interview on Asempa FM Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday.

Dr Quaicoe explained that, the decision is to prevent any situation that could affect the smooth conduct of the electoral process.

However, he noted that the EC officials will be given monies to buy food on their own.

“EC staff are not supposed to take food or anything at all from the political parties because if you get diarrhea or any problem, who will you blame?” he said.

Dr Quaicoe also cautioned candidates against sharing of items while voters are in the queue.

“The parameter is a security zone so once you find yourself there, it is because you have the right to be there but not to share anything,” he added.

He further advised voters to return home peacefully and wait for the results after casting their ballots.

His comment comes after some persons during the special voting were captured on camera in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency receiving food packs, water and drinks from the incumbent MP, Lydia Alhassan.

The action has sparked widespread condemnation amidst call for the MP’s arrest and prosecution.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor(OSP) has since commenced investigation into the incident.
