According to Cindy Thompson, she didn’t know about this until the former President invited her to the Castle and confessed to her about it.

“I will say yes when you ask if God through me gave a song that helped our father (President Kufuor) to become a president in the year 2000”, Cindy Thompson told Fiifi Pratt on Kingdom FM in an interview.

The singer further disclosed that at the time she released the song she didn’t have a relationship with any of the political parties.

“President Kufuor looked for me till he found me; I just can’t believe it. I was there when he called my manager and my manager told me the President wants to see you. From my mother’s kitchen, because of music, I met the President of the nation. I couldn’t believe it.”

Revealing the details of what exactly the Ex-President told her, Cindy Thompson said: “When he saw me he said, are you that little girl? You are not grown up either. God richly bless you. Your music has helped me. I believe your music is one of the reasons why I won. Through your song, I have also received the blessings of God.”

On Joy FM’s The Reason is Jesus, the veteran artiste said she was scared because people started associating her with politics.

According to her, she resorted to lying about her identity to prevent people from easily making her out.

“I got afraid because we know that if they start associating you with a political party, they can kill or destroy you.

“So when it got to a point when I go out, I didn’t want people to see me. If somebody ever said to me, ‘You look like somebody’. I mostly lied and said, ‘that is my twin sister’,” she told host Fiifi Folson on Sunday.

Awurade Kasa single, which the singer released in early 2000, was a popular song widely accepted by the Christian community for its spiritual and electrifying lyrics.

The song was even made popular by the NPP presidential candidate John A. Kufuor who made it his major campaign song ahead of Ghana’s first general election in the 21st Century.

Mr Kufuor using ‘Awurade Kasa’, captivated the electorate and won the 2000 elections to become Ghana’s 10th President since independence and second in the Fourth Republic.

Not all gospel artistes called by God – Cindy Thompson http://34.58.148.58/not-all-gospel-artistes-called-by-god-cindy-thompson/ Sat, 23 Nov 2019 13:02:08 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1724874 Veteran Gospel singer, Cindy Thompson, has asked people not to be moved by others’ ability to sing.

This is because it takes more than just a good voice to be a Gospel artiste and not every one of them has been called by God.

“I believe this so very much because I recall I had an event in Holland and before my performance, a choir came to sing very beautifully.

“After the show, we had to go and grab something to eat and to my surprise I saw the choristers taking their robes off, pulling out cigarettes and alcohol and I was shocked.”

“I went to ask them if they knew what they were doing was wrong and to my amazement, they answered that they were not Christians but only singers.

“Some said, they sang because they have the voice and people encouraged them to join the choir but they were not believers of the things of God or Christians.”

“I had another experience in Benin as well, so yes it is not every Gospel artiste that is called by God,” she told Graphic Showbiz.

When asked how one who has been called by God would behave and operate, the Awurade Kasa singer said: “Anyone who is called by God understands the ministry he or she is in.”

“Whatever step one takes, one asks God for guidance; one waits for Him to speak before one acts. When one has been called by God, one does not associate with the things of this world.

“One is not in competition with anyone because one trusts the person who has called you,” she noted.

Recounting how she got into the industry, Cindy Thompson said, “I was singing in the church and people often told me how good I was. The pressure was that, I should do my song and produce an album but I felt that time was not right.

“So I went into my room and prayed, I asked God to show me a sign if indeed it’s His will and here I am today. It was so much to the extent that people actually came to me trying to poach me to their church,” she said.

“The fact that people tell you, you have a nice voice doesn’t mean you are called by God. You may have the gift which comes to everyone in different ways but God should direct you as to what you have to do with it and how to use it,” she said.
