The ceremony at 6904 Hollywood Boulevard drew family, close collaborators and fellow stars who celebrated a career built on purpose and performances that resonated far beyond the screen.

Boseman’s widow, Simone Ledward Boseman, accepted the motion picture star on his behalf.  In an emotional address, she described her late husband as more than an actor. She called him a spiritual teacher whose generous heart gave something of himself to everyone around him.

She thanked colleagues who trusted his vision and close friends who formed a real brotherhood with him. Simone said that shortly after his death she dreamt of Chadwick telling her he could only do so much from beyond, and that others would now carry his work forward.

Director Ryan Coogler paid tribute on the podium, reflecting on Boseman’s light and the way he reflected the greatness of his people. Coogler described Boseman as both a star and an incomparable jewel who showed shared humanity through his work.

Ryan Coogler has directed Boseman in several defining projects, including Black Panther, and the director’s remarks underlined how deeply those collaborations shaped a generation of filmmakers and audiences.

Also in attendance were long-time friends and co-stars who have repeatedly spoken about Boseman’s influence.

Michael B. Jordan, who built a close bond with Boseman on film sets and in life, was among those present. Jordan has previously written that Boseman paved the way for him and that he would dedicate the rest of his days to living as Boseman did with courage and integrity.

Letitia Wright joined the gathering as well. Wright has often described Boseman in personal terms, saying she felt their relationship was like family and that she wished she had been able to say goodbye. Her earlier spoken tribute captured the grief many colleagues still feel and resurfaced at the ceremony as friends gathered to remember him.

Viola Davis also addressed the crowd, calling Boseman “a mighty elixir who stirred the alchemy all artists seek.” Davis spoke about the way Boseman infused meaning into his roles and how his presence continued to guide her own work.

Fellow cast members and collaborators, including Lupita Nyong’o and other Black Panther alumni, were on hand to honour his memory and the cultural legacy he left behind.

The Walk of Fame dedication marks another formal recognition of Boseman’s impact. His breakthrough performances included Jackie Robinson in 42, James Brown in Get On Up, Thurgood Marshall in Marshall, and his era-defining role as T’Challa in Black Panther.

His final film role in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom earned him widespread acclaim and posthumous awards recognition, helping to cement his place among modern screen greats.

Organisers livestreamed the ceremony and placed Boseman’s star near the Dolby Theatre, a location speakers called fitting for an actor they described as a king in his craft. The event was at once a public remembrance and a private gathering for family and those who had worked closely with him, a moment to reflect on a life and career cut far too short.

For fans and colleagues, the Walk of Fame moment is another invitation to keep telling the stories Boseman chose and to carry forward the values he practised on and off screen.

As Simone Ledward Boseman said, his heart was vast, and his work continues to give back a little of that largesse to a world that still misses him.

‘Black Panther’ sequel stars on late Chadwick Boseman: ‘We made him proud’ http://34.58.148.58/black-panther-sequel-stars-on-late-chadwick-boseman-we-made-him-proud/ Sat, 29 Oct 2022 22:12:53 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2177344 The stars of the highly-anticipated sequel to Marvel’s “Black Panther” walked the red carpet in Hollywood on Wednesday night at the “Wakanda Forever” world premiere but there was one name hugely missed, their late co-star Chadwick Boseman.

The actor, who played the lead, King T’Challa, in the 2018 original, died in 2020 after a four-year battle with colon cancer he had kept private. He was 43.

“It was definitely tough to go back to a space that you hold so dearly in your heart and are so attached to T’Challa, so attached to Chad,” actress Letitia Wright, who plays T’Challa’s younger sister Princess Shuri, said.

“But we had to just be strong, to follow through on the story and it got emotional at times. It still is, but one that we came together, we worked on. We made him proud.”

“Black Panther”, in which Boseman played the king of the fictional African land of Wakanda, became a global hit and was hailed as a milestone for racial diversity in Hollywood.

Its sequel had been in the works when Boseman died.

“I dreaded it because I couldn’t imagine moving forward without Chadwick,” said Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o, who reprises her role as T’Challa’s former lover Nakia.

“But then when Ryan Coogler, our director and writer, walked me through his idea to carry on with the story, I breathed a breath of relief because what he did was he incorporated the loss into the story,” Nyong’o said. “And so as a person and as an actor, I didn’t have to pretend like I hadn’t experienced such a loss, such grief. And it very much makes use of that.”

“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” sees the protagonists working once again with the Dora Milaje, an elite group of female warriors, as they fight to protect their nation following the king’s death.

Late ‘Black Panther’ actor’s uncle found alive but severely dehydrated after being missing for days http://34.58.148.58/late-black-panther-actors-uncle-found-alive-but-severely-dehydrated-after-being-missing-for-days/ Wed, 07 Sep 2022 14:08:51 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2160124 Chadwick Boseman’s missing uncle has been found alive following a search that lasted multiple days and involved the South California Law Enforcement Division.

Tony Boseman, whose family confirmed that he’s the uncle of the late “Black Panther” actor, was located on Tuesday afternoon, September 6 after going missing since Sunday.

Tony, who suffers from dementia, was last seen in the Boseman Road area at around 3:30 P.M. on Sunday.

“He’s gone missing before. So basically the last time anyone saw him was on Boseman Road on Sunday afternoon around 3:30,” said Shale Remien, Public Information Officer for the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office. “He was there one minute and essentially gone the next.”

The officer added, “We found him about a half a mile away from his house, but it was a very wooded concealed, rural, rough terrain, and essentially, he was in a wooded ditch. Obviously very dehydrated. A little bit out of it.” Deputies said they believe the 77-year-old will be okay.

Shale went on speaking about the search, “Thankfully, SLED and our deputies were both on foot together, and that’s when they came upon Mr. Boseman, but with that being said, for the last three days, we’ve had eyes up in the air with not one but two choppers today.”

“When you have that many resources on the ground and up in the air, and you’re watching a family out of the corner of your eye praying, you are praying too for this kind of result, and we got it today,” she continued. “We are beyond thankful he’s okay.”

Tony’s family is relieved after he’s found alive. “We feel like the angles in heaven were looking down on him,” said Tony’s daughter Letia. “We’re thankful for all the prayers.” His wife of 57 years, Katherine Boseman, was overcome with emotion at him being found safely. “We just thank God,” she added.

Tony’s nephew Marshall Bolden previously said of the search for his missing uncle, “Kinda a concerned and worried time. We just want to find him and want him to be safe when we do find him.” He was thankful for the first responders’ support though, adding, “It makes it a little bit easier when you got support and you’re not out here by yourself looking for someone.”

Chadwick died on August 28, 2020 at age 43 after a secret battle with pancreatic cancer. He’s survived by his wife Taylor Simone Ledward as well as his parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman. He recently won a posthumous award at the 2022 Creative Arts Emmys for his role on Disney+ Marvel’s animated series “What If…?“. It marked his first Emmy.

Check out how Black Panther star’s estate was shared as he died without will http://34.58.148.58/check-out-how-black-panther-stars-estate-was-shared-as-he-died-without-will/ Tue, 28 Jun 2022 10:59:11 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2131597 Beloved Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman tragically lost his battle with colon cancer in 2020.

Due to his unforeseen death, the late actor did not have a will, and now his widow Simone Ledward-Boseman and his parents are set to evenly split his $2.3 million fortune.

According to court documents, the total value of Boseman’s estate was about $3,881,758.

However, after hefty funeral bills and lawyers fees, the total worth runs down to $2.5 million on hand and $157,000 in cash.

Ledward-Boseman, who was in control of settling the estate, filed documents that took account of all expenses following her husband’s death. She has since asked to be reimbursed about $50,000 for all the funeral costs, including the purchase of two mausoleum crypts for Boseman’s parents Leroy and Carolyn, to be laid to rest alongside their son at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson, South Carolina.

Per the source, Boseman’s company Chadwick Boseman, Inc. additionally owed a tax bill worth $51,000. Another chunk of the money went to the probate case, in a bond totalling $900,000.

After all the legal fees and taxes, the late actor’s estate is worth $2.3 million, which Ledward-Boseman asked to be split down the middle with Leroy and Carolyn, leaving them each with $1.15 million.

It is noted that had Boseman drafted up a will, there would not be such a large amount in legal bills to pay.

The couple married in secret almost a year before his death, although they had been together since before his cancer diagnosis in 2016. The first sighting of the pair came in 2015, captured by paparazzi at the Los Angeles International Airport. It wasn’t until Boseman’s family confirmed Da 5 Bloods actor’s death that the public was made aware of their marital status.

“He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side,” the statement read.

Black Panther actor passed away without a will but made sure to protect his wife http://34.58.148.58/black-panther-actor-passed-away-without-a-will-but-made-sure-to-protect-his-wife/ Mon, 19 Oct 2020 11:56:43 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1869371 Chadwick Boseman, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2016, died in August without a will.

Now his wife Taylor Simone Ledward has filed a probate case in Los Angeles, where she requested to be named administrator of his estate with limited authority, Page Six reports.

The late Boseman’s estate is estimated to be valued at $938,500. The court documents say he is survived by Ledward and his parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman. No other family is listed.

Even without a will—and without children—Mr Boseman’s wife Ledward is set to inherit all the actor’s assets from his probate estate. It’s also likely that the late Boseman has more assets held in separate private trusts.

MORE:

The pair reportedly became engaged in October 2019 and married sometime in 2020.

They were first seen together in 2015 after she graduated from Cal Polytechnic University Pomona in 2014.

Mr Boseman died on August 28 of colon cancer. He was 43.

Earlier this month, his brother Derrick Boseman—a pastor from Murfreesboro, Tennessee—told the New York Times about the conversation he had with Mr Boseman the day before he died.

He recalled the late Boseman telling him, “man, I’m in the fourth quarter, and I need you to get me out of the game.”

He realised what his brother meant: “When he told me that, I changed my prayer from, ‘God heal him, God save him,’ to ‘God, let your will be done,’” he said. “And the next day he passed away.”

The animated video includes references to Black Lives Matter as well as fellow rappers Little Simz and Dave.

In his introduction, Stormzy said the track was inspired by his realisation that role models had been all around him growing up.

A man who had great hope

Boseman played Marvel’s first black male superhero, and his death last month prompted a deluge of tributes from his fellow actors plus politicians and many others around the world.

This week, Lupita Nyong’o wrote an emotional tribute to her Black Panther co-star, remembering him as “a man who had great hope”.

The Oscar-winning actress wrote that her “beloved” friend’s death was “a punch to my gut every morning”.

“His power lives on and will reverberate for generations to come,” wrote the star, who played Nakia opposite Boseman’s King T’Challa.

Boseman died aged 43 at home in Los Angeles with his wife and family by his side, his publicist Nicki Fioravante said.

The actor had not revealed his cancer diagnosis to the public.

“Chad was an anomaly. He was calm. Assured. Constantly studying,” wrote Coogler, who revealed that Boseman learned his lines in the Xhosa language in a single day.

“The decision to have Xhosa be the official language of Wakanda was solidified by Chad, a native of South Carolina, because he was able to learn his lines in Xhosa, there on the spot.

“He also advocated for his character to speak with an African accent so that he could present T’Challa to audiences as an African king, whose dialect had not been conquered by the West,” Coogler added.

Black Panther – the first major studio superhero movie featuring a predominantly African-American cast – became the ninth highest-grossing film of all time and the highest-grossing film by a black director.

It was also the first superhero film to get an Oscar nomination for best picture.

Boseman’s breakthrough role came when he played baseball pioneer Jackie Robinson in the 2013 film 42.

The following year he played another iconic black figure, starring as soul legend James Brown in Get On Up.

“It’s no secret to me now how he was able to skilfully portray some of our most notable [ancestors],” wrote Coogler.

“I had no doubt that he would live on and continue to bless us with more.

“But it is with a heavy heart and a sense of deep gratitude to have ever been in his presence, that I have to reckon with the fact that Chad is an ancestor now.”

“And I know that he will watch over us until we meet again,” the director added.

The actor has been battling colon cancer since 2016 and died at home with his family and wife by his side, according to a statement posted on his Twitter account.

He was 43, his publicist Nicki Fioravante said in a statement.

“A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you so many of the films you have come to love so much,” the statement said.

“From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy.”

The statement said the role of King T’Challa was the “honor of (Boseman’s) career.”

Boseman graduated from Howard University

A South Carolina native, Boseman graduated in 2000 from Howard University, a historically Black college in Washington, DC.

While there, he also attended the British American Drama Academy at Oxford in 1998, according to Howard’s website.

“It is with profound sadness that we mourn the loss of alumnus Chadwick Boseman who passed away this evening. His incredible talent will forever be immortalized through his characters and through his own personal journey from student to superhero! Rest in Power, Chadwick!” University President Wayne A. I. Frederick said in a statement.

Boseman graduated from Howard University

Boseman’s breakout performance came in 2013 when he played Jackie Robinson in the film “42,” according to Howard’s website.

“His transcendent performance in ’42’ will stand the test of time and serve as a powerful vehicle to tell Jackie’s story to audiences for generations to come,” Major League Baseball tweeted from their official Twitter account Friday.

Boseman made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in 2016 as T’Challa/Black Panther in “Captain America: Civil War,” according to Howard.

Black Panther then got his own stand-alone movie that released in 2018, which broke box office records.

Marvel Studios president had previously announced the second movie of the “Black Panther” saga would debut in theaters in May 2022.

The actor starred in other films, including playing James Brown in “Get On Up” and Thurgood Marshall in “Marshall.”

Boseman returned to his alma mater in 2018 to give the commencement speech.

He concluded with his iconic “Wakanda Forever” salute.

MORE:

During his speech, the actor told the graduates about his early days acting on soap operas, saying he was fired from an unnamed production during his early acting days after he questioned what he felt was its stereotypical portrayal of Black characters.

“The struggles along the way are only meant to shape you for your purpose,” he said at the time.

‘A superhero to many’

In a statement following Boseman’s death, Martin Luther King III said the actor “brought history to life” with his roles.

“As Black Panther, he was also a superhero to many,” he wrote on Twitter.

“And despite his 4 year long battle with cancer, he kept fighting and he kept inspiring. He will be missed.

“The NAACP also paid tribute to the actor, saying Boseman showed “us how to conquer adversity with grace.”

“For showing us how to ‘Say it Loud!’ For (showing) us how to walk as a King, without losing the common touch. For showing us just how powerful we are,” their Instagram statement said. “Thank you #ChadwickBoseman.”

Sen. Kamala Harris, who is also an alumna of Howard, said she was “heartbroken” over Boseman’s death.

“My friend and fellow Bison Chadwick Boseman was brilliant, kind, learned, and humble,” she tweeted.

“He left too early but his life made a difference. Sending my sincere condolences to his family.”

Actor Mark Ruffalo, who starred aside Boseman in the Marvel movies as the Hulk, tweeted Boseman’s death contributes to the growing list of tragedies in 2020.

“What a man, and what an immense talent,” Ruffalo tweeted. “Brother, you were one of the all time greats and your greatness was only beginning. Lord love ya. Rest in power, King.”

Black Panther fans are worried about Chadwick Boseman’s dramatic weight loss http://34.58.148.58/black-panther-fans-are-worried-about-chadwick-bosemans-dramatic-weight-loss/ Thu, 16 Apr 2020 12:58:14 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1779765 Black Panther fans are super concerned about Chadwick Boseman after his latest Instagram video.

The star posted about his partnership with Operation 42, an initiative to help hospitals that serve African-American communities during the coronavirus pandemic.

He’s partnering with Thomas Tull on the project that will honor the legacy of Jackie Robinson by aiding the people on the front lines keeping people safe from the disease.

But, the comments are surprisingly focused on the Black Panther headliner’s health and how thin he looks in the video. Just earlier this year, he appeared to be relatively the same at the NBA’s All-Star Weekend, so the concern is recent.

“Operation 42 I am hearing stories of desperation from people all over the country, and we know our communities are suffering the most and urgently need help,” Boseman wrote.

Celebrating #JackieRobinsonDay with the launch of Thomas Tull’s #Operation42, a donation of 4.2 million dollars in personal protective equipment (PPE) to hospitals that service the African American Communities who have been hit the hardest by the Covid-19 pandemic. Thank you, Jackie, for refusing to accept the world as it is, for showing us that we can make a difference.”

Boseman is, of course, no stranger to people wondering about his weight.

Last summer, there were fans concerned, but he might have been preparing for a role of some sort. It remains unclear, but a bunch of the commenters on the video are clearly stressed out about the King of Wakanda this evening.

MORE:

The Black Panther star seems more focused on honoring Jackie Robinson’s legacy and helping those in need than himself.

The ‘42′ is one of the breakout films that put the actor on the map. It tells the story of Robinson and all the trials he had to face to achieve his major league dreams.

“And the Game Changed Forever…In 1947, Jackie Robinson rewrote the future of pro baseball when he broke through the racial barrier to become the first African American MLB player in modern history. Both moving and inspirational, the film 42 follows Robinson’s trials and tribulations as he signs on to the Brooklyn Dodgers under legendary team manager Branch Rickey.”
