Police prosecutors told the Asokore Mampong District Magistrate Court that a duplicate docket has been sent to the Attorney-General’s office for advice.

John Allister, 22, made headlines in September for allegedly stabbing to death his employer, six days after he got employed by the 35-year-old woman, Stella Osei, also known as Princess Afua Ahenkan.

With the help of accomplices, he sold his late madam’s KIA Sportage vehicle after bolting with bags of rice, cooking oil and other assorted items.

Police prosecution say the accused used some of the proceeds to buy a Toyota Vitz car, with registration GS 3107-23.

Allister, on October 2, 2023 was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment by the Asokwa Circuit Court for stealing GHS167, 000 while working as a hotel receptionist in Kumasi.

Despite the court not taking his plea, Allister broke boundaries on September 18, 2023, to accept responsibility for the murder of his madam.

On Tuesday, October 17, 2023, police prosecutor, ASP Stephen Ofori, told the court the case docket has been forwarded to the A-G’s office for advice.

He then prayed the court to remand the two accused persons, John Allister and James Anokye, a 27-year-old driver, into prison custody while awaiting advice.

The court, presided over by Samuel Buabin Quansah, remanded the accused to re-appear on October 31, 2023, pending the A-G’s advice.

Drama in court over murder of businesswoman http://34.58.148.58/drama-in-court-over-murder-of-businesswoman/ Tue, 03 Oct 2023 21:18:00 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2301792 The swift intervention of police officers prevented family members of the 35-year-old businesswoman, who was allegedly killed at her residence by her house help in Sokoban, Kumasi, from physically assaulting the prime suspect and an alleged accomplice.

The aggrieved family members, visibly furious, went on a rampage and attempted to assault the suspects physically after their court appearance while they were being escorted out of the premises.

Some family members even pelted stones at the police vehicle carrying the suspects, chasing the vehicle in an attempt to attack the suspects.

The prime suspect, 22-year-old Allister John, confessed to the alleged murder of the businesswoman during his first appearance before the Asokore Mampong District Court on Monday, September 18, 2023. A second suspect, believed to be an accomplice to Allister John, is also in custody.

During the initial court proceedings, it was revealed that the gruesome act involved a conspiracy between five individuals, including the two suspects currently in custody.

The prosecution has identified three additional suspects—Collins, Biggie, and Christian Obu—who are currently at large. The police are diligently working to bring them to justice.

In their second appearance before the Asokore Mampong district court on Tuesday, October 3rd, the prosecution revealed that the autopsy report indicated that the victim died an unnatural death, suggesting that she had been killed by someone else.

The prosecution thus prayed the court to remand the suspects for the second time to allow them to conduct further investigations, which the court granted. The suspects are expected to reappear before the court on October 17, 2023.

Latest on houseboy who killed employer in Kumasi http://34.58.148.58/latest-on-houseboy-who-killed-employer-in-kumasi/ Tue, 03 Oct 2023 20:06:15 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2301746 The 35-year-old woman who was allegedly murdered by her house help died of multiple head and abdominal injuries.

That is according to an autopsy report presented in the Asokore Mampong District Magistrate Court on Tuesday, October 3, 2023.

Stella Osei, also known as Princess Afua Ahenkan, sustained multiple head and stomach injuries after being hit in the head and stabbed in the stomach multiple times by the key suspect, John Allister.

Allister and an accomplice, James Anokye, a 27-year-old driver are standing trial over the alleged murder of the businesswoman at her Sokoban Apaaso home on September 11, 2023.

The prime suspect, who applied for work on September 4, 2023, resumed work the following day, assigned to the woman he allegedly murdered at Apaaso near Kumasi.

Police say he hit the head and face of his madam with a club several times after stabbing her on September 11, 2023 at about 11.00 am, moments after the deceased had prepared fufu for the two to eat.

Allister is said to have taken advantage of the absence of the 11-year-old daughter of his madam who had gone to school.

According to police, Alister, after committing the act, invited James Anokye and one Collins, the 2nd and third accused persons, to the home of the deceased, and bolted with a KIA Sportage vehicle with registration GS 307-21, Samsung mobile phone, rice, cooking oil and other valuable items.

They then escaped to Accra and made contact with Biggy, a fourth accomplice who is at large, to sell the vehicle to Christian Obu, the fifth accomplice who is also at large.

Allister, after the sale of his madam’s KIA Sportage car, used some of the proceeds to buy a Toyota Vitz car, with registration number GS 3107-23.

While the 3rd, 4th and 5th accomplices were being pursued, the 2nd accused abandoned the KIA Sportage vehicle at Oyibi Police station and bolted.

Following a report to the police, the Crime Scene Management team discovered the body of the late Stella Osei, also known as Princess Afua Ahenkan, in the garage of her Apaaso home.

A blood-stained club believed to have been used by the accused to kill the woman was also discovered at the crime scene on Tuesday 12th September 2023.

A police intelligence-led operation led to the arrest of the 1st and 2nd accused persons in their hideouts in Accra on September 14, 2023.

Prosecuting, ASP Stephen Ofori prayed His Worship, Buabin Quansah’s court to remand the accused persons to enable police to hunt for three other accomplices who are at large.

Houseboy who murdered employer admits to stealing GH¢167K in another case http://34.58.148.58/houseboy-who-murdered-employer-admits-to-stealing-gh%c2%a2167k-in-another-case/ Mon, 02 Oct 2023 14:24:27 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2301134 The houseboy who allegedly murdered his employer at Apaaso near Sokoban in the Ashanti region has pleaded guilty to stealing over GH¢167,000 from a hotel owner in a different case.

John Allister, 22, made headlines last month for allegedly stabbing 35-year-old Stella Osei aka Princess Afua Ahenkan to death.

Stella had employed Allister for only six days when the latter allegedly murdered her.

Allister, along with other accomplices, allegedly sold a KIA Sportage vehicle belonging to his employer, and also carted away from the victim’s home bags of rice, cooking oil, plus other assorted items.

Allister is alleged to have used some of the proceeds from the sale of the car to buy a Toyota Vitz, registering it GS 3107-23.

In the latest case however, Allister who pleaded guilty but with an explanation to two counts of stealing contrary to Section 124(1) of the Criminal Offences Act 1960, Act 29/60 before the Asokwa Circuit Court, says he worked as a receptionist in the hotel.

He is alleged to have bolted with the hotel owner’s phone and withdrawn cash from her bank account using the mobile app on the phone.

According to the prosecution led by ASP Stephen Ofori, the accused in 2022 was employed as a hotel receptionist at Bantama, but after a month of working with the complainant, who is the owner of the hotel, the accused person surprisingly stopped going to work.

In July 2023, Allister returned to the complainant for the second time to seek employment. The complainant allowed him to start work immediately because of his previous working relationship.

On August 6, 2023, the complainant gave her Infinix Note 8 mobile phone to the accused person to help her with some settings.

The accused person however, bolted with the mobile phone; and went ahead to withdraw an amount of GH¢167,660 from the complainant’s ABSA Bank account using the mobile app on the phone.

Sensing danger, the complainant reported the matter to the police for investigations and the accused person was arrested from his hideout in Accra.

ASP Stephen Ofori told the Asokwa Circuit Court presided by Her Honour Vida Yeboah that Allister admitted the offence and told police investigators how he spent the amount by using part of it to rent and furnish an apartment.

He is expected to appear before the Asokore Mampong District Court, Tuesday 3 October, 2023.
