In an interview with GhanaWeb, Bugri Naabu clarified that he holds no grudge against Ohene Ntow, whom he still considers a friend.

“I still regard him as my friend. Before his involvement in the party, he used to collect stories from me when he was at GBC, attending our contractor meetings and press releases. I’m surprised he made such claims. It’s unfortunate they are trying to ruin the party,” he remarked.

He urged Ghanaians to disregard Ohene Ntow’s accusations, describing them as baseless.

“Everything he told Captain Smart was lies, and nothing but lies,” Bugri Naabu stated.

He also expressed surprise at the mention of Kwadwo Mpiani, noting that they have always been on good terms, calling each other brothers.

He added that, he has never had issues with Kwabena Agyapong, whom he considers a younger brother, having a long-standing relationship with his family.

Bugri Naabu dismissed Ohene Ntow’s claims of plotting assassinations, advising him to reflect on his own plans.

Addressing discussions about a flagbearer, Bugri Naabu recalled that he viewed Nana Addo as the best candidate at the time, compared to Kennedy Agyapong. “Looking at the party’s situation, I believed Nana Addo was the right choice. But I never wanted to harm anyone because of that. It’s simply not true,” he concluded.

The secret recording was a discussion between Bugri Naabu, Superintendent Asare, and COP Alex Mensah on a plot to oust Dr Dampare.

It was leaked to the media after which Parliament set up a committee to investigate the matter.

Appearing before the committee, COP Alex Mensah claimed the IGP had a hand in the recording and the subsequent leak of the tape to the media.

He added that, his information indicated that, the IGP has the full, unedited recording.

Superintendent George L. Asare when he also appeared, alleged that Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Asante assisted Bugri Naabu in recording the conversation.

But taking his turn at the committee on Tuesday, Dr Dampare stated categorically that, he had no hand in it, adding that he is committed to upholding the law and maintaining the integrity of the Ghana Police Service.

His decision to ready his white dress, which he explained, was symbolic for celebration in the black community, was borne out of an assurance given them (he and COP Mensah) by a former Northern Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Bugri Naabu.

He said Mr Mensah was a good commissioner of police who was loved by many police officers and that if he was given the top-most job of the police profession, it would have brought so much excitement to the police personnel.

“Black men, when you hear good news, you will be in white apparel,” Superintendent Asare explained the rationale behind his intentions to make a white dress after meeting Bugri Naabu.

He gave the explanation when he appeared before the Committee on Monday, September 4, 2023.

Superintendent Asare is part of those captured on tape discussing why the IGP Dr George Akuffo Dampare should be removed from office.

The secret recording of the conversation between Daniel Bugri Naabu, Superintendent Asare and COP Mensah was leaked into the public domain after which Parliament set up a committee to investigate the matter.

The Committee is chaired by the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Samuel Atta-Akyea.

The panel has the mandate to investigate both the authenticity of the leaked tape and the intricate allegations that have captured national attention.

The third witness in the probe into the alleged secret plot to remove the IGP, Dr George Akufo-Dampare has justified his trust in the notion that the NPP Northern Regional Chairman had the ability to influence who led the police service.

According to Supt George Asare, he had been told by Daniel Bugri Naabu that he was the one who suggested to President Akufo-Addo that he appoints Dr George Akufo-Dampare to the top job in the police force.

He disclosed this to the Parliamentary Committee on Monday, September 4, 2023.

For him, this stance left no doubt that he could influence the authorities to appoint COP George Alex Mensah as the IGP.

“When we met him, in the course of our conversation, he did indicate that he recommended the current IGP to the President,” he explained.

The subject is a leaked audio in which police officers were heard conspiring to find a replacement for the current IGP, Dr George Akuffo Dampare.

The three police officers supposedly linked to the tape have been invited to assist the Ad-hoc committee’s probe.

Supt. Asare is the officer who arranged the meeting between Mr Naabu and COP Alex Mensah.

His voice was one of those heard on the secret recording suggesting IGP Dampare’s action may cause the loss of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 election.

Despite admitting his trust in Mr Naabu’s influence to make COP Alex Mensah an IGP, he told the committee that “if a politician tells you this, as to whether it is true, you leave it as it is.”

“Because I didn’t need any appointment and I wasn’t as well lobbying for anybody,” he added.

The Police officer says the officer was the one who invited him for a discussion on the need for a new IGP.

This ensued on day 4 of the public sitting which started this morning.

The Director General of Operations for the Ghana Police Service, COP George Alex Mensah, has openly acknowledged his efforts to secure the role of Inspector-General of Police (IGP) by seeking the help of Bugri Naabu, the former Northern Regional Chairman.

The revelation came to light as COP Mensah appeared before a parliamentary committee consisting of seven members.

The committee was formed to investigate a leaked audio tape that contained intention to remove the incumbent IGP, Dr George Akuffo Dampare.

When prompted by a committee member, COP Mensah explained that he had personally shared his Curriculum Vitae (CV) with Bugri Naabu.

The intention behind this action was for Bugri Naabu to advocate on his behalf and promote his candidacy for the coveted IGP position.

In his own words, COP Mensah stated: “My CV was given to somebody who Bugri Naabu sent to come and collect from me. The purpose was for him to go and lobby for me to become the IGP.”

COP Mensah further revealed that his pursuit of the IGP role began as far back as 2017 and that this recent lobbying wasn’t an isolated incident.

He remarked: “And that was not the first time lobbying went on, we have been lobbying from 2017 to become IGP.”

The parliamentary committee’s investigation into the leaked tape has, thus, uncovered not only the efforts to potentially oust the current IGP but also the ambitions of COP Mensah to assume the coveted position.

Although, his name was not mentioned in the tape, Bugri Naabu alleged he called the officer on phone to meet the president following a previous engagement with his colleagues as part of the plan.

But Sup. Eric Emmanuel Gyebi says he has never ever dealt with him on any discussion.

The Director of the Cyber Crime Unit and Child Protection at the CID Headquarters, also affirmed that although he maintained a longstanding friendship with the other two implicated police officers, he was not part of the plot to oust the IGP.

He expressed surprise that he had been implicated by Bugri Naabu during his testimony, even though his voice is not heard on the leaked tape.

His testimony is contrary to claims by Bugri Naabu who confirmed the veracity of the contents on the tape.

He has since been temporarily discharged after an hour of grilling by the committee.

The committee was set up by Parliament to investigate an alleged plot to oust Inspector General of Police, George Akuffo-Dampare.

COP Mensah is expected to appear with two other colleagues.

This follows claims by the Northern Regional Chairman of the NPP, Daniel Bugri Naabu, that COP George Alex Mensah is the senior police officer heard on the leaked audio.

Addressing the Committee on Monday, Bugri Naabu said his decision to record the conversation about the proposed plot was to safeguard the interest of his party.

Mr Naabu, who confirmed the authenticity of the secret tape, indicated that his plan was to forward the tape to President Akufo-Addo.

While defending his recording of the conversation, Bugri Naabu also mentioned that Commander Asare, COP Mensah and Supt Gyebi were the personnel who had the discussion with him about the IGP.

“The reason for recording this tape is that they are coming to tell me to go and tell the President something that they know they are saying, and it is either I don’t go and tell the President and then I and my party suffer for it, or if I also go to talk to the President, it is good to tell him the right thing, and since I cannot keep everything they were telling me at that point, it was very good to record and I know the President, that if I go and tell him something and it turns out not to be true, next time he won’t give me respect,” he explained to the Committee.

Subsequently, the three are to appear before the committee.

Confirming this, the Chairman of the Committee, Samuel Atta Akyea said all three must be present on Thursday.

“Our next sitting is on Thursday. COP George Alex Mensah will appear, Supt Asare, and Superintendent Emmanuel Gyebi will also appear. These are the three individuals who will appear on Thursday,” he stressed.

The content of the leaked tape generated a national discussion considering the nature of the conversation with senior police officers involved.

Following public reaction, Parliament set up the Committee, chaired by the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Samuel Atta-Akyea, to delve into the issue.

The panel has the mandate to investigate both the authenticity of the leaked tape and the intricate allegations that have captured the nation’s attention.

Act on threats against Bugri Naabu – Adam Bonaa tells Police http://34.58.148.58/act-on-threats-against-bugri-naabu-adam-bonaa-tells-police/ Wed, 30 Aug 2023 14:36:54 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2288870 Security analyst, Dr Adam Bonaa, has charged the Ghana Police Service to act on threats against the former Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Bugri Naabu.

This comes after Mr Naabu officially confirmed the authenticity of the content on a leaked tape that had him in a conversation with three Senior Police Officers plotting to get Dr Akuffo-Dampare removed as the Inspector-General of Police.

According to him, he has questioned one of the police officers [Commander Asare] after the leak who hung the phone on him.

“He sent a message through my son, that he will deal with me…you are right to say he was threatening me,” Mr Naabu told a seven-member Parliamentary committee probing the case.

Commenting on the issue in an interview with Starr News, Dr Bonaa urged the police not to treat the threat against Bugri Naabu lightly.

“Bugri Naabu alleges that one of the persons involved [Asare] has threatened him. You know you can take this threat lightly, and so I will say that the Police can take it up if Bugri Naabu makes a case.

“Apart from that, I don’t think the NIB has what it takes… They don’t have a locus; they don’t have what it takes for people to investigate this. In any case, where were they when all these things were being recorded? So as far as I am concerned, their initial arrest of people will amount to pure intimidation,” he said.

In a leaked tape that has since gone viral in mainstream and social media, some influence-peddling policemen are heard soliciting the help of Bugri Naabu to convince President Akufo-Addo to oust Dr George Akuffo Dampare, so he can be replaced with someone more sympathetic to the cause of the ruling party.

This action, they suggested, will help the party rig the upcoming 2024 general elections to be able to retain power.

Bugri Naabu, who has been speaking to the special parliamentary committee set up to investigate the audio tape, has both authenticated the tape and named his co-conspirators.

Speaking to the media, Kofi Buah, who had been following the proceedings, expressed confidence in the committee’s ability to get to the bottom of the matter.

“Even with the first day of the hearing, it is very clear that indeed, as the testimony went—and I’m trying not to get into the work of the committee, but it’s very, very clear that the authenticity of the tape, that indeed this happened. That indeed there was an occasion where this tape was recorded, and so I think that it confirms the worry I had, and I wish the committee well. I believe that they’ll get to the bottom of this issue and to make sure that all the fears of the people of Ghana who have listened to this tape are addressed,” he said.

He was, however, disappointed at the sheer lack of professionalism on the part of the policemen, calling their behaviour a matter of national concern.

“I mean, it should not happen in Ghana that people who have been entrusted at the highest levels, to basically protect and safeguard the interests of the people of Ghana and the stability of this country in terms of security, especially when it comes to elections, see themselves as basically working in the interest of a political party to basically ensure a certain outcome.

“That is a nightmare if indeed we have such characters in the Police Service who do not see themselves as professionals but as NPP party apparatchiks, then God should save our country. We must get to the bottom of this and I believe that this committee will do exactly that,” he said.

I was threatened over IGP’s leaked tape – Bugri Naabu http://34.58.148.58/i-was-threatened-over-igps-leaked-tape-bugri-naabu/ Wed, 30 Aug 2023 08:26:25 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2288859 Former Northern Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman, Daniel Bugri Naabu, has said he was threatened over the leakage of the tape on the plot to oust Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare.

When he appeared before a parliamentary committee probing the issue on Monday, he confirmed the authenticity of the tape and named three senior policemen as the people on it.

He admitted to having hired someone to record the conversation for him.

According to him, the motive for recording the contentious leaked tape was for him to play it to President Nana Akufo-Addo for him to decide.

However, the tape leaked before he could even send his file to the President.

Confused about the situation and in his bid to find out who leaked the tape, he called one of the senior policemen, Commander Asare, who was part of the meeting.

“I called Mr Asare and asked him who sent the tape into the public domain, but he hung the phone on me. I called him again, and he refused to talk to me.

“He later sent a message through my son that he will deal with me,” Mr Naabu said.

Asked by the committee whether the police officer actually threatened him, the chief replied; “You are right to say he was threatening me.”

Meanwhile, the three policemen, COP George Alex Mensah, Superintendent Asare, and Superintendent Emmanuel Gyebi will on Thursday appeared before the committee.

Leaked audio: I was scared over claims NPP will lose polls – Bugri Naabu http://34.58.148.58/leaked-audio-i-was-scared-over-claims-npp-will-lose-polls-bugri-naabu/ Mon, 28 Aug 2023 15:00:21 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2288284 Former Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Bugri Naabu, has said that he was scared when he was told by some high-ranking police officers that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), George Dampare, would likely cause the defeat of the NPP in the 2024 general elections.

Naabu, who appeared before a Parliamentary Ad-Hoc Committee established to investigate an alleged plot to remove the IGP, said that the police officers told him that Dampare is not an NPP member and that this would be difficult for the party in the upcoming elections.

Naabu said that he was so scared by the claims that he even called the Interior Minister to verify them, but the Minister did not pick up his call.

“He [Commander Asare] said he wanted to come and see me and let me talk to the president about the current IGP because he is not NPP and that will be difficult for us going into the 2024 elections, and so I told him that I will verify the claims myself before telling the president because I didn’t want to say something that is not true.”

Mr Naabu further indicated that he was told the IGP would scheme his way through during the hotly contested Assin North by-election to deny the NPP victory, which indeed occurred and that left him scared.

“He [Commander Asare] even told me that if we let the IGP goes to Assin North, we would lose the by-election and I was scared. He told me that with ten days to the by-election, with the IGP there, we would end up with nothing, so I started talking to people in the police to verify the claims. I even called the Interior Minister, and he did not pick up my call.”

Background

The NPP stalwart confirmed the tape when he appeared before a Parliamentary Ad-Hoc Committee probing the tape on Monday.

The recording, which went viral and attracted a lot of backlash, had a voice said to be that of a Commissioner of Police in a conversation with a senior member of the NPP, who many have alleged to be Mr Naabu.

The people who were involved were discussing the current IGP and how he will sabotage the NPP in the 2024 election should he remain in office.

The NPP stalwart, now a chief, had earlier said he wasn’t the person who recorded the viral tape.

But appearing before the committee, he revealed he hired someone to record the tape to play it to President Nana Akufo-Addo and to make it difficult for the people to deny it.

Mr Naabu made the revelations on Monday, August 29, when he appeared before the Committee probing the issue.

He said would ordinarily record his conversations with other persons, but had to record this one, so he does not lie to the President.

According to him, he did not want his relationship with the President not to be jeopardised.

“The reason for recording this tape is that they are coming to tell me to go and tell the President something that they know what they are saying, and it is either I don’t go to tell the President and then I and my party suffer for it and if I also go to talk to the President, it is good to tell him the right thing and since I cannot keep everything they were telling me at that point, it was very good to record, and I know the President I go and tell him something, and it turns not to be true, next time he won’t give me respect,” he said.

He added that he requested someone to do the recording for him since he did not have the knowledge to do it.

“I didn’t do it myself, but I called someone to come and do it for me,” he added.

IGP leaked tape: Bugri Naabu fails to show up as 1st witness http://34.58.148.58/igp-leaked-tape-bugri-naabu-fails-to-show-up-as-1st-witness/ Fri, 25 Aug 2023 14:00:25 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2287063 Former Northern Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman, Daniel Bugri Naabu, failed to show up before the seven-member committee set up to probe the leaked tape of some top police and party officials seeking the removal of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare.

The committee, chaired by Abuakwa South Member of Parliament (MP), Samuel Atta Akyea, sat for the first time on Thursday, August 24, to hear from the first witness, Mr Naabu.

But a letter signed by lawyer Raymond Dornyo of Crabbe, Crabbe & Co on behalf of Bugri Naabu cited ill-health on the part of his client as he sought permission for absence.

Mr Atta Akyea was not happy with the reason, indicating that “it is not good enough reason for the simple reason that unless it is a death-dealing malady, then we can say for one measure or the other, we cancel.”

He urged all witnesses to be invited to “respect” the committee, especially its timetable.

“I do not believe it is right and proper that when people are invited to appear before the committee, they have scheduled the committee. It should be the other way round.”

He further stated that time consciousness is paramount to the committee and he expects all invited witnesses to respect that.

“It is not a witch-hunt, these are very decent members of our community,” he said, referring to the members of the committee.

The special committee was set up by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Bagbin, following a complaint by the Minority.

The Speaker tasked the committee to investigate the authenticity of the leaked audio recording, the conspiracy to remove the current IGP Dampare, and any other matter contained in the audio recording and recommend sanctions to persons found culpable where appropriate.

It is also to make recommendations for reforms where necessary and make such other recommendations and consequential orders as the committee may deem appropriate.

The persons on the tape were discussing how the current IGP will sabotage the NPP in the 2024 election should he remain in office and called for his removal.

The party official whose voice is heard on the tape is said to be Mr Naabu. He has, however, denied recording the conversation.

Mr Naabu admitted his presence and voice in the audio but denied recording the viral audio.

Bugri Naabu’s comments justify our call for probe – Minority http://34.58.148.58/bugri-naabus-comments-justify-our-call-for-probe-minority/ Fri, 21 Jul 2023 15:40:21 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2275625 The Minority in Parliament has said comments made by the former Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bugri Naabu, justify the group’s call for an investigation into the leaked tape regarding the Inspector-General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare.

In an interview, Mr Naabu confirmed that his personal aide and receptionist had been picked up by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) for questioning regarding the secret audio, which revealed plans by the government to kick out the IGP from office in a bid to rig the 2024 polls.

Speaking to the media, the Deputy Minority Leader, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, said that the parliamentary probe into the matter must continue to unravel the intent of those involved on the tape.

“We call on this Parliament to have an independent investigation, and the Speaker has directed that we nominate members of a committee. We have already done that, and we believe that the committee must begin work as soon as possible. It is important that we find out what the police and the Interior Minister are doing.”

He emphasised that the contents of the audio have the potential to disrupt the democracy and peace of the country, and must not be allowed to slide away without thorough investigations.

“We found out that two of Bugri Naabu’s aides were picked up yesterday. It is, therefore, important that this investigation is thorough, and that will mean that all those who were mentioned must be part of this comprehensive investigation, including the police officers because it has everything to do with our democracy and stability.”

IGP leaked tape: Bugri Naabu bares it all http://34.58.148.58/igp-leaked-tape-bugri-naabu-bares-it-all/ Fri, 21 Jul 2023 09:36:40 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2275373 Former Northern Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman, Daniel Bugri Naabu, has finally broken his silence on the leaked tape on an attempt to remove the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare.

Mr Naabu has admitted his presence and voice in the audio.

However, the NPP stalwart now a chief has said he wasn’t the person who recorded the viral tape which has attracted backlash.

To him, he would have been sensible enough not to include his personal phone conversations which he said were captured on the tape.

“I am telling you that those people saying I recorded the audio don’t have sense because some of my telephone calls are in the recording. Do you think that if I’m recording, I will let my personal matter come inside the tape? I am asking you,” he fumed in an interview with Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM/TV.

A plot to allegedly remove the IGP has created fear and panic in the country.

The recording has a voice said to be that of a Commissioner of Police in a conversation with a senior member of NPP many have alleged to be Mr Naabu.

The people who were involved were discussing the current IGP and how he will sabotage the NPP in the 2024 election should he remain in office.

The actions have been widely condemned amidst a move by parliament to launch a bi-partisan probe into the tape.

But Mr Naabu insists he did not record the tape neither does he know who did.

He maintained he is not the appointing authority and therefore has no business to discuss the removal of the IGP.

“I don’t know anything about any recording if I know I don’t want to talk about it now. At the appropriate time we will talk about all this rubbish they are talking about,” he stated when asked if he had personally recorded the tape.

“We don’t have any recording here. My phone can record, why should I go and get a tape to record? My phones, all these are iPhones; although I don’t know how to use them but they can record. I believe they can record,” he stated.

Meanwhile, he said his aide and receptionist have been picked up by the National Intelligence Bureau and suspects it has to do with the leaked tape although he has no formal communication about the arrest.

Bugri Naabu’s assertion about Asantes and NPP is blackmailing – Former MP for Kwadaso http://34.58.148.58/bugri-naabus-assertion-about-asantes-and-npp-is-blackmailing-former-mp-for-kwadaso/ Fri, 23 Jun 2023 16:29:11 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2263957 Former Member of Parliament for Kwadaso, Hilda Addo, has described Bugri Naabu’s assertion about the NPP hating persons hailing from the Northern part of Ghana as blackmailing.

According to her, the NPP is in need of a competent leader to break the 8, and not on hating on personalities and their ethnic backgrounds.

“What Bugri Naabu is doing is trying to bring division, and then we will say the NPP does not love Northerners,” she said.

She added that not everybody in the regions of the north will agree with the claim by Bugri Naabu.

“You will agree that not all Northerners will agree with what Bugri Naabu said. I thought he was going to talk about Dr Bawumia’s vision for coming to break the 8. We are talking about competency, not tribalism,” Hilda Addo stated.

In an interview with JoyNews, Bugri Naabu made claims that Ashantis would have demonstrated hatred for Northerners if they do not vote for Dr Bawumia in the upcoming flagbearership election.

Despite the fact that the NPP is doing all it can to break the 8 in the 2024 general election, all is not well with the party as Dr Bawumia trumpets the achievements of the NPP.

“The grounds work for the NPP have become a bit difficult, so we need someone who is very competent to win power for us in the North, South, East, and West,” Hilda told host of Kuro Yi Mu Nsem on Nhyira FM, Nana Kwadwo Jantuah.

A member of the Alan Kyerematen’s campaign team, Afia Korankyewaa, also indicated the NPP flagbearer aspirant is working underground to win the flagbearership.

She revealed that “Alan’s camp is not shaken”, but the work of canvassing votes is on the ground, and that is exactly what Mr Kyerematen is doing.

“We form political parties to advocate for developmental projects in our constituencies. But before we can advocate for these projects in our constituencies, we have to win power, and before we get power, it’s not overnight; we have to look at the formula we will use to get this power. It is this formula that we are saying our father, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, has,” she added.

According to Afia Korankyewaa, Mr Kyerematen has resigned and is using his own resources to run his campaign.

“Alan is not using government machinery to canvass delegates’ votes as some aspirants are doing, our father, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, is loved by many, so even without government machinery, he will still win the NPP flagbearership race,” she said.

Dr Gideon Boako, aide to Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has dismissed an assertion made by former Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Bugri Naabu about the upcoming flagbearer race.

Mr Naabu, who is now a paramount chief of Namog Traditional area in the Northern region over the weekend said that a rejection of Dr Bawumia in the race will reinforce the perception that northerners in the party are only suitable for playing second fiddle.

He emphasised that if the NPP doesn’t vote for the Vice President, it will mean they hate northerners.

But speaking on Accra-based Okay FM, Dr Boako indicated all the NPP and Ghana need is the best person to lead and move the economy forward.

The tribe of the candidate, therefore, does not matter as his capabilities.

“Personally, I don’t agree with him on that. It doesn’t matter where the person is coming from. It is a political party and at the end of the day we want the best so if the party agrees that this person should lead us, where the person is coming from is immaterial,” he said.

If Bawumia is not voted to lead, it means NPP hates Northerners – Bugri Naabu http://34.58.148.58/if-bawumia-is-not-voted-to-lead-it-means-npp-hates-northerners-bugri-naabu/ Sun, 18 Jun 2023 14:10:19 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2261569 Former Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Bugri Naabu, has given a strong signal that a rejection of Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming flagbearership race will reinforce the perception that northerners in the party are only suitable for playing second fiddle.

In making a case for the candidature of the Vice President, he said the NPP traces its origin from the Danquah-Busia-Dumbo, and it will only be fair that the Dumbo faction leads the party now since the current and previous leadership represented both Danquah and Busia origins.

Mr Naabu, who is now a paramount chief of Namog Traditional area in the Northern region, however, said failure to follow the succession plan by electing Dr Bawumia will reinforce perceptions that northerners in the party are only suitable for vice president positions.

“Nana Akufo-Addo has come to choose Mahamud Bawumia, he has also filed to be the flagbearer. If this time they don’t vote for him, the Akan reject voting, it means they hate northerners that is simple! They only say we are together by mouth but they don’t mean it! So we northerners we are to learn sense this time. How many northerners have become presidents? Nothing,” he said.

He added in an exclusive interview with JoyNews that “Now if Bawumia is rejected by the Ashantis it means we are not together….some of the MPs or former MPs have started saying that we northerners we are good for Vice so they are insulting us.

“So we don’t know how to become president but only vice? I don’t think it is the best. I’m appealing to everybody to have in mind that at the end of that day, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will be voted.”

An Instagram account by name “those called celebrities” alleged in a banter with Diamond Appiah that she was used and dumped by  Bugri Naabu after he realised she was no more useful in bed because she had become too weak and wrinkled.
But responding to the allegations, Diamond Appiah indicated that Bugri Naabu is and has been a family friend for a very long time and she was amazed seeing such a news item.
She said “do u have an idea how long I and my family have known this man? Mr Bugri is a father figure to me and a very good friend to my uncle the contractor.
“My family has known him for so many years so never try to tarnish his image with your false publications. I hope you can see clearly that we attended an event together so there is nothing true about the lies being concocted by you and that useless roasted plantain skin NDC girl behind it”.
Diamond indicated that the reports were lies as her opponents wanted something against her to tarnish her hard-earned reputation.

She Wrote-
I wanted to ignore the lies that Nigerian NDC unprofessional blogger ‘Attractive Mustafa’ published about me a few days ago but my noble family has urged me to defend my image and that of the other innocent party’s involved. Attractive Mustafa the NDC blogger should be aware that nobody takes his concocted lies n publications serious in this country except the babies with sharp teeth gang. He was the same guy that did a video of that old irrelevant female raga morphian rascal musician who insulted our beloved President and said all sort of degrading stuff about him so wot publication can one expect from such a JERK.
Attractive u claimed “Mr Bugri Naabu has used and Dumped me” how can a father and an old family friend used and dump his daughter. Do u have an idea how long I and my family have known this man? Mr Bugri is a father figure to me and a very good friend to my Uncle the contractor. My family has known him for soo many years so never try to tarnish his image with your false publications. I hope you can see clearly that we attended an event together so there is nothing true about the lies being concorted by you and that useless roasted plantain skin NDC girl behind it. The man doesn’t even know her n her envy is real. So tell her to come up with another lie.
Secondly my Fatherly relationship with the president has got nothing to do with Mr Bugri so stop lying about that too. Mr Bugri was in the North doing campaign when I paid a courtesy call to the President. The other issue with that little girl called Maame Sika has been so misinterpreted. A lady of my class n status will never stoop low to fight a 20yr old girl over a man bcos my boo won’t even look at her twice. I received msgs from her friends telling me how she goes around bragging to them that she works at the flag staff house which was untrue.
She is only an usher at the Banquet hall. So I found this quite worrying in decided to send a subtle warming to her to stop lying about her job status n also desist from using the President and Vice presidents name in vain concorting lies they have never said cos those lies were going too far n I even received some on my fon. So I don’t understand why this mischievous blogger will twist and turn the story in such a distasteful manner. Attractive u know me n could have contacted me to gets the facts about this matter before writing the rubbish u did. so one more fake article about me n you will see yourself in court answering questions u don’t have answers to. According to him, the recent confusion that rocked the appointments of Municipal and District chief executives (MMDCEs) and other key appointments were masterminded by the legislators.
Their motive for this diabolic move, Mr. Naabu noted is because their preferred candidates were not chosen for the job.
The outspoken Regional Chairman disclosed this at the party’s regional delegates conference in Tamale Sunday.
He indicated that, the MPs instead of working to advance the government of the Akufo-Addo led government, they are rather working against the NPP in the region.
“The problems are in the region are not from the regional executives but rather some of the MPs” he added.
Bugri Naabu stressed that the party risk losing majority seat in the Northern region if the national executives don’t move to address the issue.

The Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed led by a team  to the assembly to ensure the confirmation is done successfully.

This is in total disregard to a warning issued by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Northern region chairman, Daniel Bugri Naabu.

He claimed the Konkombas in the area are peeved over Musah Issah nomination and have threatened to cause mayhem.

But the the Regional Minister Salifu Saeed and his deputy Solomon Buah led by team Wednesday June 28 to ensure Mr. Musah Issah is gets majority of the votes to be the DCE for the Gushegu district.

Musah Issah was confirmed by 28 out of 36 Assembly members representing 78 percent of the total votes cast.

Meanwhile, efforts by Adom News to get Bugri Naabu to react to the story proved futile.

The Lawyer speaking on Adom FM’s Morning Show, ‘Dwaso Nsem’ Thursday said the allegation of the NPP Northern Regional Chair that the Upper East Regional Minister, Rockson Bukari and Gender Minister, Otiko Afisa Djaba are ‘deeply involved’ in the murder of the late Upper East Regional  Chairman of the party amount to contempt.

According to him, Bugri Naabu per his utterance, is commenting on a criminal trial which is already pending before a court of competent jurisdiction.

“Criminal matters have no ending, there can always be new evidences, that is why there is an appeals court…‘deeply involved’ doesn’t mean anything in law…but he can be cited for contempt for commenting on an ongoing trial before a competent court of judicature…,” he said.

Mr Naabu during a media brawl with Ms Otiko Djaba after the Chairman violently disrupted a meeting between the Minister and women’s group in the Northern Region because he was not informed of the gathering alleged that the Gender Minister and the Upper East Regional Minister were deeply involved in the murder of late Mahama Adams.

Ms Djaba in response accused Mr Naabu of taking cows and goats as bribe to offer people jobs.

Mr Naabu has since apologized and retracted his allegation against the Upper East Regional chairman. He has also offered same apology to the NPP.

But the Lawyer argues that although the phrase ‘deeply involved’ is not enough evidence to indicate the involvement of the two, commenting on the case pending before court is contempt in itself.

Contempt, he said, can also arise from some comments that are arising from various radio and public discussions on the matter.

He further cautioned the media to be careful about the kind of comments they pass on the issue as it may amount to contempt.

“Even the discussions on radio forms part of contempt…are people intimating that Gregory Afoko is a wrong person being tried and that the judge does not know what he is doing….?,” he quizzed.

Lawyer Augustine Obour also called on the media to read more on the ruling of contempt cases as there are always new rulings on the subject matter of contempt.

Bernard Allotey Jacobs said the NPP man [Naabu] is gaining notoriety to launching vitriolic attacks anyone he sees as a threat thus needs deliverance to cure his verbal diarrhea.

The controversial Northern Region Minister made the headlines for the wrong reasons on May 8, 2017, after he alleged that Bukari and the Gender Minister Otiko Afisa Djaba were neck deep in the acid attack and murder of the Upper East Region Chairman of the NPP Adams Mahama in 2016.

Even though the matter is still pending in court with suspects being prosecuted, Naabu suggested he had information linking both the Upper East Region Minister and the Gender minister to the murder.

His accusation was a rebuttal to a claim by Otiko Djaba that he had taken monies, goats, cows from party members with a promise to offer appointments in the school feeding programme.

He has since vowed to sue the Gender Minister in court for defamation.

But Allotey Jacobs maintains that the NPP Northern Regional Minister is a thong in the flesh of President Akufo-Addo

The Northern Region Chairman of the New Patriotic Party has unreservedly retracted and apologised to the Upper East Region Minister Rockson Bukari whom he accused of masterminding the murder of Adams Mahama.

Daniel Bugri Naabu in a letter written to Samson Lardy Anyenini, lawyer for the minister said his comments made on Accra based Radio XYZ and which have since gained traction in the media were regrettable and unfortunate.

He had 48 hours to retract and apologise for same after an ultimatum was issued by Lardy Anyenini on behalf of Rockson Bukari and he did not fail to apologise to the minister and his family for the harm and embarrasment his allegation may have caused.

His accusation was a rebuttal to a claim by Otiko Djaba that he had taken monies, goats, cows from party members with a promise to offer appointments in the school feeding programme.

Rockson Bukari did not take kindly to the allegations and caused to be issued a 48-hour ultimatum for Bugri Naabu and the two media houses, whose platforms were used for the defamatory statement, to retract and appologise.

The media houses, Radio XYZ and Class FM have both retracted and apologised for same and with the clock inching closer to the 48-hour mark, Bugri Naabu has also apologised.

In the letter of retraction, a copy of which has been intercepted by Myjoyonline.com, Bugri Naabu said “I write to sincerely and reservedly retract wholly my comment about your client in an interview I granted Accra-based radio XYZ. I note most regrettably that those rather unfortunate comments have since Monday 8th May 2017 gained wide publicity and may implications for an ongoing trial in the high court.”

“I do not have any facts beyond what we know about the police investigations on the matter and I am truly sorry to the minister, his family and all those I have hurt by those comments,” he said.

Hot audio: Otiko Djaba apologises for Naabu gaffe http://34.58.148.58/otiko-djaba-apologises-naabu-gaffe/ Tue, 09 May 2017 18:01:05 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=111391 Gender Minister, Otiko Afisa Djaba has asked Ghanaians for forgiveness after days of war of words with the Northern Regional Chairman New Patriotic Party (NPP).

She told Gifty Andoh Appiah on The Pulse on Joy News channel on MultiTV Tuesday, she reacted to Daniel Bugri Naabu’s comments against her because she felt disrespected.

“Because I am a woman he feels he can bully me…but I apologise to all Ghanaians for what happened,” she said.

The Gender Minister and Mr Naabu were caught in a battle of words following a misunderstanding over the appointment of the Coordinator for the School Feeding Programme in the Region.

Mr Naabu is reported to have disrupted a meeting held by Otiko Djaba on May 5, while a group of unruly supporters who accompanied him vandalised some properties.

He described the meeting held by the Gender Minister as “illegal” because he was not notified about it.

It emerged that Mr Naabu’s action was in protest of the refusal of Otiko Djaba to allow him to select the caterer for the school feeding programme.

He granted interviews to some media houses where he made unprintable accusations against the Minister.

Otiko Djaba in reaction also accused Mr Naabu of collecting money, goats, cows and other things from some people with the promise of giving them jobs at the National School Feeding Programme.

The governing NPP has said it was going to investigate the circumstances leading to the disruption of the Gender Minister’s meeting.

Acting NPP General Secretary, John Boadu told Joy News Monday, he believes the cause of the disagreement has nothing to do with the school feeding programme.

“It was in reference to the appointment of MMDCEs,” he said.

But Otiko Djaba has called for a truce between herself and Mr Naabu to forge ahead in unity.

According to the party, any member who flouts the directive will be ruthlessly dealt with.

The two senior party members have in the past three days launched scathing attacks against each other with serious allegations some of which borders on criminality being made in the media.

Whereas Otiko has claimed the Chairman has taken goats and cows as bribes and promised people jobs, the latter on his part has accused the Minister and her colleague of being involved in the plot that led to the murder of Adams Mahama, the late NPP’s Upper East regional chairman. A matter that is currently before an Accra High Court.

In an interview with Asempa FM Monday, John Boadu stated that the NPP sees the conduct of the two members as shameful and very reprehensible and as a result has taken steps to deal with the matter.

He said, meanwhile, the party wants its members to desist from granting any media interview on the matter as leadership puts in effort to resolve the quarrel.

“We should all stop discussing this issue. Any true member of the NPP worth his salt should cease commenting on this matter. This is not the time to publicy support either Bugri Naabu or Otiko. No one should respond to calls from the media. Whoever speaks on this matter will be sanctioned by the party, and I mean it. Anyone who dares comment on the matter after this warning will be dealt with ruthlessly by the party,” Boadu stated.

Background

The outspoken Northern Regional Chairman of the NPP on Friday lost his temper and disrupted a meeting that was underway led by the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection Otiko Afisa Djaba.

The controversial chairman in the company of some unruly women affiliated to the NPP stormed the meeting vandalizing properties in protest to what he described as the Minister’s disregard for his high office claiming she did not seek his consent before convening her meeting.

Mr. Naabu who described the meeting as “illegal” noted that the Gender Minister has no right to come to the region to organize a meeting without first informing the regional executives, saying that even the president would not throw his weight about in such manner.

“I have told the Minister point blank what she did was wrong. It is unconstitutional and therefore her meeting is illegal,” he declared to the admiration of the women accompanying him.

On the other side, the Gender Minister, Otiko Djaba who is livid about Chairman’s Naabu boisterous bahviour accused Bugri Naabu of handing out government jobs in exchange for items such as cows and goats.

She’s urged the leadership of the party to relieve Bugri Naabu, of his position following his act of lawlessness that has brought shame to the party.

Stop lying – NPP Women organizers to Bugri Naabu http://34.58.148.58/stop-lying-npp-women-organizers-bugri-naabu/ Sun, 07 May 2017 17:43:29 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=106841 Constituency Women Organizers of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Northern Region have cautioned the Northern Regional Chairman of the party, Daniel Bugri Naabu, to stop peddling lies against the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Ms Otiko Afisa Djaba.

This follows the disruption of Ms Djaba meeting in the region with NPP Women’s Organisers by the regional chairman with the explanation that Ms Djaba failed to inform him of the meeting since she was in his territory.

Mr Naabu also claimed Ms Djaba was plotting to scuttle the President’s appointment of the regional head of the School Feeding Programme.

But a press statement issued by some women organisers of the party has described the assertions of Mr Naabu as falsehood.

According to the statement: “The Gender Minister was in the region to represent First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo, on the celebration of International Midwives’ Day, being the National Women’s Organiser of NPP, Madam Otiko Afisah Djaba, decided to meet her women organisers.”

The group of women organisers stated “categorically that the meeting was only for the minister to thank her women for working very hard to achieve a resounding victory and moreover to assure us of her commitment to see to the welfare of the women”.

The group said they were solidly behind the minister and will not allow any individual to undermine her authority.
