Rumours about Blakk Cedi taking over the reins of Shatta Wale’s management were rife after he made a thanksgiving post to the artiste, following his performance at Vybz Kartel’s Freedom Street Concert in Jamaica a few weeks ago.

In a social media post, Blakk Cedi expressed his appreciation to Shatta Wale for making him part of the team that ensured the success of the gig.

“I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the opportunity to serve as part of your team during the Freedom Street Concert in Jamaica. It was an honor to step in and contribute to your vision, and I do not take that privilege lightly,” he wrote.

He added, “Your unwavering respect, trust, and love throughout this process truly humbled me. The warmth you extended made every step seamless, and it reinforced why you are so deeply admired by many.”

However, speaking to JoyNews’ Becky at the Kotoka International Airport upon his arrival to Ghana on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, the ‘Gringo’ hit maker said Blakk Cedi only came on board to help him and that Sammy Flex is still his manager.

“His contribution is just like JoyNews coming here to interview me, so that is what Blakk Cedi did. I don’t have problem with anybody. Like I always say, Blakk Cedi formerly managed Stonebwoy but I don’t have any problem with Stonebwoy. I am ever ready for anybody who wants to support me.

Shout out to Blakk Cedi, he’s done well. Nobody should tag Blakk Cedi that the is managing Shatta Wale. Sammy Flex is still manager,” he added.

He also expressed his gratitude to his fans for their unflinching support throughout his career and promised that he will be giving them more music and establish more businesses this year.

In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Blakk Cedi conveyed his gratitude for being trusted to contribute to Shatta Wale’s vision.

He described the experience as an honor, noting that he was treated with respect, trust and love throughout the process.

“The warmth you extended made every step seamless, and it reinforced why you are so deeply admired by many. Being able to witness your artistry up close and play a role in this
success was not just fulfilling but also inspiring”.

He acknowledged the inspiration he drew from witnessing Shatta Wale’s artistry up close and being part of the concert’s success.

He reaffirmed his support for Shatta Wale’s journey, writing, “with deep respect and gratitude, I say 1 Perfect Love.”

Meanwhile, Stonebwoy’s former mentor, Samini has also expressed pride in Shatta for the Caribbean feat.

The Freedom Street Concert marked another milestone in Shatta Wale’s illustrious career, showcasing his influence beyond Ghana’s borders.

Videos of Blakk Cedi’s meeting with Shatta Wale have gone viral, igniting excitement and debates on social media.

Fans and industry watchers have interpreted this gesture as a strong show of solidarity for Shatta Wale, the only Ghanaian artist invited to perform at the event.

The development comes shortly after Stonebwoy’s controversial remarks, where he downplayed Shatta Wale’s participation in the Freedom Street concert.

In an interview, Stonebwoy suggested that Shatta Wale’s presence at the event was merely as a curtain-raiser, claiming he himself would not resort to ‘famzing’ international artists to score cheap points.

But his former manager’s presence in Jamaica tells a different story.

The Freedom Street concert marks a significant moment in Jamaican music history as one of the flagship concerts.

The event had been on hiatus following the incarceration of its founder, Vybz Kartel, who has since regained his freedom.

To make a comeback, Vybz has assembled a diverse lineup of artists from across Africa and the Caribbean.

In a celebratory message, Blakk Cedi praised Stonebwoy for his dedication, work ethic, and passion, which he likened to that of legendary reggae artist Bob Marley.

“A very big congratulations to the legend, Livingstone Etse Satekla. An award well deserved and even more,” he wrote. “For me, it never came as a surprise. Our very own Bob Marley’s work ethics, drive, and passion for what he does is definitely unmatchable. He keeps everyone around him on their toes and pushes them to deliver their utmost best.”

Additionally, Blakk Cedi also acknowledged the support of Stonebwoy’s wife, Dr. Louisa Satekla, and the entire team that contributes to his success.

“A very big congratulations to Dr. Louisa Satekla for being a great support system to her husband. Again, a very big congratulations to every team member that contributes their part to making this wheel continue to spin,” he added.

Looking to the future, Blakk Cedi expressed his belief in Stonebwoy’s potential to achieve international acclaim.

“I pray, hope, and wish you are able to firm it up on the international front, which is a work in progress already. Ghana is soft work now – conquer the world.”

Nonetheless, he called on all Ghanaians, both at home and abroad, including artistes, industry professionals, and fans, to fully support Stonebwoy in his quest to take on the world stage.

“The time has come to give this man the fullest support he requires to take on the world. Without this, it is difficult to do.”

In his message, Blakk Cedi also took a moment to commend King Promise for his impressive achievements and hard work in the music industry.

“And lastly, to King Promise, we are all so proud of you and your rise. You put in a lot in what you do. It’s evident, and no one can take that for granted. You did amazing and equally deserved the ultimate. The big day is near and almost here. Keep going and don’t ever stop, Starboy.”

Blakk Cedi climaxed with a salute to Stonebwoy, reaffirming his respect and congratulations. “Back to 1 GAD, salutes regardless. Congratulations.”

Cedi and Stonebwoy shared a relentless drive and passion for excellence, which propelled Stonebwoy to new heights in the music industry since his inception.

However, despite their highly effective partnership, they eventually parted ways due to managerial differences in 2020.

In his post on Facebook, Gideon suggested the artiste’s former manager, Blakk Cedi is the father of the young boy.

He reached this conclusion due to what he described as the striking resemblance between Cedi and the one-year-old.

This unfortunate incident by the young blogger angered Stonebwoy and his wife, Dr. Louisa.

They reported the matter to the police and Gideon has been invited to assist with investigations.

This has forced the blogger to issue a public apology via the same medium, Facebook for subjecting them to public ridicule.

The musician said “I have increased by 1,000 times” when he was asked about his relationship with Blakk Cedi after they parted ways last year.

“From that time till now, I have increased 1,000 times. So that tells you work is even going on better,” he told Andy Dosty.

Stonebwoy rubbished claims that he has lost touch with contacts and due to that he is not able to control and manage his affairs like when he was working with Blakk Cedi.

How was I able to work f.rom that till now? If there was no contact. It’s simply put… call me on 0501550000.. Call Burniton Music Group, it’s a company and we will direct you to the suitable place where work is going on… It’s no trouble at all, he said.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM‘s Daybreak Hitz show in 2019, Stonebwoy said Blakk Cedi confirmed Blakk Cedi was no more his manager but rather his agent.

He has attributed the change in status to some structural changes in his Burnington Music Group camp.

We’ve done some structural changes in the camp. Blakk Cedi is no more my manager but we are still together. You can still book me through him or contact me directly; you can as well book other artistes through him as well, Stonebwoy said.

According to Aisha, Blakk Cedi, at the time when he was managing O.V. under Stonebwoy’s umbrella, misappropriated funds meant to boost the female singer’s career.

She disclosed that Blakk Cedi bought O.V. a faulty Hyundai Sonata car, adding that even O.V’s accommodation was even a burden to Stonebwoy’s former manager.

But, Blakk Cedi responding to the allegations said he didn’t need a Pesewa from the Want Me hitmaker.

He gave a breakdown of how the money was used in an interview with Don Tsegah on Hitz FM‘s U Say Weytin show.

She won an amount of 100,000 Cedis. She was given 30,000 out of it for a car and she was given 15,000 Cedis cash to open a bank account. She was also given 1,500 Cedis for ten months. And the rest of the 40,000 was for her projects.

So the first 20,000 Cedis of the project money was used for two of her videos; The “Want Me” and “Zaddy” videos.

The rest of the 20,000 is still with MTN, we were supposed to continue the next phase of her project but it never happened.

Responding to allegations that he bought O.V a faulty car, Blakk Cedi said:

I drove with O.V to pick up the car at Tema and the next place we moved to was Stonebwoy’s house so I don’t know where Aisha is getting her info from and this is what happened to O.V’s money.

The latter, during his appearance at the launch of a new Electroland Ghana Limited shop at Ashaiman, a suburb of Accra, was attacked by some persons, one of whom is said to be a sympathiser of Stonebwoy.

The Afrobeats artiste was seen in a viral amateur video struggling to defend himself from the clearly agitated attacker as the gathering shouted for calm.

This happened moments after the ‘Mea’ hitmaker walked into the shop with a camera crew inspecting the work done so far.

Following the fracas, the former signee of the Burniton Music Group took to social media to vent his spleen.

He shared series of tweets which fanatics users believe to be a subtle attempt to accuse Stonebwoy’s camp of orchestrating the scuffle.

But lawyers for Stonebwoy’s team would not take it lying down.

In a press statement on Monday evening, the Burninton Music Group described the Kelvyn Boy’s “imputations of criminal conduct” as “very scandalous, and calculated to cause disaffection for Stonebwoy, our organisation, and our brand.”

Distancing itself from the allegations, the Group further revealed that “we have instructed our lawyers to take the appropriate steps to vindicate the legal rights of Stonebwoy and the brand of our organisation.

“To suggest that we will divert our attention from our efforts to promote Ghanaian music to devote time and/or energy to an artiste who was voluntarily released from our organisation can only be the product of an exaggerated sense of self-importance.”

Both artistes have been in the news since 2019 for some alleged misunderstanding which has culminated into the breakdown of a father-son relationship between the former label mates.

While it is unclear what exactly led to the recent bad blood, the latest development only goes to suggest that the longstanding friction among Stonebwoy and Kelvyn Boy is far from over.

According to him, after they parted ways in late 2019 there was no signing of any contract that allowed them to work together.

“The reality is that there were understandings and conversations prior to my announcement that was verbally agreed on but it wasn’t formally signed,” he said at a press conference, at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra, Friday.

On September 20, Stonebwoy revealed that his longtime friend and working partner, Blakk Cedi was no longer his manager.

The decision, he had said, was part of structural amendments that have been made at his Burniton Music Group label.

The revelation came after weeks of speculations that the artiste and his long-time manager had parted ways.

Per the new adjustments, Blakk Cedi was named Stonebwoy’s agent.

However, Stonebwoy at the press conference said since the announcement was made Blakk Cedi has not done any work for him.

He said without a formal agreement or contract, Blakk Cedi was not obliged to work for him.

“I have to state that we don’t have any work ties anymore, whether by booking or by agency whatever there’s no work tie between my good brother and me,” Stonebwoy added.

He dispelled rumours that his PA Wisdom Edwards had taken the reins as his manager.

“Wisdom is my PA, my cousin from my mother side. He’s been my brother, he’s played so many roles and he’s been with me from day 1 and I think people are seeing him now on the fore more that’s why some are calling him my manager.”

After exiting Stonebwoy’s label, many thought the musician would be quick to ink a deal with a record label but he said, “I am an independent artiste,” in an interview on Adom FM’s Work and Happiness show with Black I.

According to the ‘Mea’ hitmaker, he is all about his works now but has people like Stonebwoy’s former producer, Blakk Cedi among others putting him on the map.

Kelvyn Boy is currently promoting his new song dubbed ‘Yawa No Dey.’

Speaking in an interview on Day Break morning show on Hitz FM, The dancehall musician said Blakk Cedi is no more his Manager but his Agent.

There were claims by persons close to the BMG camp, that some misunderstanding that erupted during the ‘Shuga Tour’ by Stonebwoy, may have caused the separation between Stonebwoy and his manager.

But Stonebwoy insists that Blakk Cedi’s new role is now bigger than that of a manager.

The work is big. It is not dependent on one or two people; there are unofficial people who are behind the brand Stonebwoy. Blakk Cedi is now my Agent; he’s no more my manager or my road manager, his new role is now bigger than that of a manager, he stated.

He explained that whatever decision his label took was for the betterment of the brand.

Some say Stonebwoy has sacked the sensational singer from his record label after he failed to acknowledge the push and limelight given to him.

Stonebwoy has refused to comment on the brouhaha but his manager, Blakk Cedi has come out to clarify issues.

He failed to disclose if truly Kelvyn Boy had left the record label or Stonebwoy wants him sacked or not, but assured JoyNews’s Doreen Avio that talks were underway to calm the storm.

According to our sources, Blakk Cedi, Stonebwoy’s manager is being accused of allegedly mishandling funds of Stonebwoy.

This has caused distrust between the artiste and his manager.

Stonebwoy is also allegedly unhappy Blakk Cedi is focused on promoting Kelvyn Boy.

After Stonebwoy unfollowed Kelvyn Boy, his next post suggested the artiste he had helped is being ungrateful.

The incident has ignited rumours of Kelvyn Boy failing to acknowledge the push Stonebwoy has put in to grow his career.

The sources added that although Blakk Cedi and Stonebwoy are usually on tour together, the former is already in Ghana while the later is still in London for the Shuga tour.
