The BET Awards 2025 proved once again why it’s called Culture’s Biggest Night. Hosted by the one-and-only Kevin Hart, the show brought together the brightest stars across music, film, TV, and sports to celebrate the talent shaping the culture and pushing it forward. From iconic moments to major milestones, the night belonged to both legends and new-school favorites.

Kendrick Lamar was the evening’s undeniable standout, taking home four major awards, including Album of the Year for GNX, Best Male Hip Hop Artist, Video of the Year for the viral smash “Not Like Us,” and Best Collaboration alongside SZA for their soul-shaking track “Luther.” Lamar also shared Video Director of the Year honors with longtime creative partner Dave Free.

On the R&B side, SZA took home Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, proving her artistry is still unmatched. Chris Brown snagged Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, while Future & Metro Boomin earned Best Group, thanks to their hit-filled collab album that shook up the charts and clubs alike.

Breakout talent got their flowers too. Leon Thomas—the singer, songwriter, and former child actor turned solo star—was crowned Best New Artist, while Doechii continued her genre-bending rise with a win for Best Female Hip Hop Artist.

And in one of the night’s most talked-about wins, Blue Ivy Carter received the YoungStars Award, a full-circle moment of legacy and promise. She’s been making waves with her performances, fashion, and influence—proving Beyoncé and Jay-Z didn’t just raise the bar, they’re raising the next icon.

Burna Boy loses all seven nominations at BET Hip-Hop Awards http://34.58.148.58/burna-boy-loses-all-seven-nominations-at-bet-hip-hop-awards/ Thu, 12 Oct 2023 08:37:48 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2304957 In a surprising turn of events at the 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards, Nigerian music giant Burna Boy faced an unexpected shutout, losing all seven of his nominations on the night of October 3, 2023, in Atlanta’s Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.

The results, broadcast to fans around the world on October 10, 2023, left Burna Boy fans surprised and disappointed.

The event saw Burna Boy competing in several prestigious categories, including Hip Hop Artiste of the Year, Lyricist of the Year, and Best Live Performer of the Year.

To his disappointment, Kendrick Lamar emerged as the night’s big winner in these categories, leaving Burna Boy to acknowledge the strength of his competition.

The losses didn’t stop there for Burna Boy. The title of “Hustler of the Year” went to the indomitable 50 Cent, and “Best Collaboration of the Year” slipped through his fingers as Lil Durk and J. Cole claimed victory with their track ‘All My Life,’ overshadowing Burna Boy’s ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ featuring 21 Savage.

In another twist, the Best Hip Hop Video award was awarded to Lil Uzi Vert’s ‘Just Wanna Rock,’ pushing Burna Boy’s ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ featuring 21 Savage into the shadows once more.

The night reached its climax when his popular song ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ also failed to secure the Song of the Year title, ceding victory to Lil Durk and J. Cole.

Jay Foley reveals shocking thing he learnt at BET Awards http://34.58.148.58/jay-foley-reveals-shocking-thing-he-learnt-at-bet-awards/ Sat, 27 Mar 2021 16:20:34 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1940155 Joy Prime presenter, Jay Foley, has revealed things he noted down when he attended 2013’s BET Awards held at the Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles, California.

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Jay Foley said he was surprised to note that the media had to arrive at the venue five hours before the main show opens.

He also told Andy Dosty that, all the media houses that were given the green pass had to log all equipment they would come to the venue with and any other foreign material rejected.

One thing he said shocked him to the core was that, the audience in the auditorium weren’t allowed to take photos or film the event onto their individual social media platforms.

He said there were spaces for photographers, adding that about 3,000 people worked on the set for the show to start.

MORE:

Other technical things, he noted, were that, even LED screens were customised to make the show a success.

When I went for BET 2013, media queued at 12:pm. The main event started at 5:pm – What you are working with are supposed to be logged by the organisers. Anything apart from what you registered would not be allowed.

No filming on your phone when show starts… About 3,000 people worked on the BET Awards’ sets in 2013.

The first time I walked into an award show in Germany, I realised they had resources that were customised for the event. Same with BET in 2013 – LED screens were designed in triangular shapes specifically for the event.

You couldn’t interview celebrities who were not booked for your media house, he told Andy Dosty.
