Speaking on Adom TV’s Fire for Fire, Aryee explained that putting his money into local football would be too risky.

“I will not use my money to do business in Ghana football; otherwise, I will die early. There is no transparency in what we are doing here,” the Barcelona 1992 bronze medalist said.

The former Black Stars and Liberty Professionals midfielder also urged football authorities to focus on reviving the Colts football system, which he described as the true backbone of the game in the country.

“Ghana should consider going back to Colts football since academies will not help,” he said.

“Academies are for businesses, but Colts football has been there for years, and if we don’t go back to that, we will continue to struggle as a country,” Aryee added.

There’s no excitement in Ghana football today – Bernard Aryee http://34.58.148.58/theres-no-excitement-in-ghana-football-today-bernard-aryee/ Fri, 22 Aug 2025 06:46:06 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2569943 Former Hearts of Oak star Bernard Aryee has raised concerns over what he describes as the sharp decline of football in Ghana, lamenting the lack of excitement and quality in the current game.

Speaking on Adom TV’s Fire for Fire, the ex-Liberty Professionals midfielder said the sport was far more attractive during his playing days compared to what is seen now.

“It’s honestly tough watching Ghana football these days. You ask yourself, who are you going to the stadium to watch?” the former Black Stars midfielder said.

“There is nobody you can pinpoint and say, ‘I’m going to watch this player.’ But in our days, there were a lot of stars you wanted to go to the stadium and watch.”

Aryee recounted an incident that underscored his worry.

“Football in Ghana is declining, and it is worrying. Some time ago, I was at the stadium with Alhaji Hearts to watch a national team game, and he was at the stadium sleeping, and I was shocked.”

The former midfielder, who was part of Ghana’s squad at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, also reflected on his time at Hearts of Oak, stressing the fierce competition that once existed among players.

“When I joined Hearts of Oak, I had to work hard to get a place in the squad because there were quality players in the team. But it’s not like today; there is no such attitude among the players.”

Current Black Stars lack competitiveness – Bernard Aryee http://34.58.148.58/current-black-stars-lack-competitiveness-bernard-aryee/ Fri, 22 Aug 2025 06:43:02 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2569937 Former Ghana international Bernard Aryee has expressed disappointment over the recent performances of the Black Stars, questioning the competitiveness and commitment of the current generation of players.

Speaking on Adom TV’s Fire for Fire, the former Hearts of Oak midfielder, who was part of Ghana’s bronze-winning team at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, argued that today’s Black Stars lack the intensity that once defined the national team.

“The last time I had the chance to watch the Black Stars, it seemed there was no challenge among themselves. During our time, the competition was tough, so everyone gave their best,” Aryee said.

“I’m not seeing that fire among the current players. They don’t look serious. Individually, we have good players, but as a team, there is no spirit in it,” he added.

The Black Stars are expected to regroup next month as they prepare for their Matchday 7 and 8 fixtures of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali.
