Prior to becoming a Guinness World Record holder with a 92-hour cook-a-thon, Hilda Baci said she auditioned for Big Brother Naija about five times.

All five times were unsuccessful, hence she moved to her second option which was the cooking competition.

According to her, the plan was to gain popularity since most of her close associates were already in the limelight and she did not want to live in their shadows.

What BBNaija which she would have spent months on could not do for her, her cook-a-thon did and in the best way possible.

Currently, she has the fame, endorsements, a citation and her name in the World’s history book as the latest cooking champion.

During the live launch show on Saturday, the first set of housemates were introduced to the show.

Six male and six female contestants made their way to the house, marking the start of a new journey to fame for them.

Groovy

Henry Olisa, popularly known as Groovy, is from Anambra State.

Beauty

Beauty Tukura hails from Taraba State and a former Miss Nigeria.

Khalid

Khalid Ismail is 22 years old. According to him, he’s single and not searching.

Ilebaye

Ilebaye hails from Kogi State and has stated that fans should not expect her to be in any relationship on the show.

She calls herself Nigerian Nicki Minaj. Amaka adds that she’s perfectly single, “single to the last letter of the word”.

The premiere night also featured electrifying performances from Asake and Victony, who thrilled the live audience and fans.

This year’s winner will be walking home with a N100m grand prize— a cash prize of N50m and N50m worth of prizes from the sponsors. In addition, 30 fans of the show will win N1m each in the ‘Fave Lock-In’ promo exclusive to DStv and GOtv customers.

The show will retain its voting style from last year, as it (voting) will only be on the Big Brother Naija website, mobile site, and the MyDStv and MyGOtv apps for active customers.

“I was a virgin till 23. That day, l was with the guy in question. At that time, l was ovulating but l didn’t know so l was not bothered about it. The organisers announced that “potential housemates are currently in quarantine ahead of the July 19 premiere.

“They will be monitored whilst in quarantine until they are deemed fit health-wise. Anyone that shows signs of ill health, will as expected not be a part of the show.”

The Big Brother House has also been disinfected and won’t be accessible to anyone till when the housemates make their way into their new abode.

Channel Director, Africa Magic, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, explained that even before the pandemic, housemates usually go through extensive health checks before entering the house.

Noting that, that has been elevated due to the present circumstances, she said, “the Big Brother show lends itself to a certain level of quarantine, seamlessly integrating into the Covid-19 guidelines.”

Past winners of the show include Katung Aduwak ( guys2006), Michael Efe Ejeba (2017), Miracle Igbokwe (2018) and Mercy Eke (2019).

Most people who do anything for clout, that is money, power or fame means everything to them even if they’d have to trek to hell for it.

Contrary to the perception that fame makes one happy, winner of 2019 edition of Nigerian popular reality show Big Brother Naija, Mercy Eke says she is finding it difficult to adjust to her new lifestyle.

“This thing, it looks rosy on social media, it’s not rosy. I think I want my old life back. Yea, I want to sleep, wake up when I want, don’t have anything to do, don’t have a calendar. Right now guys I have a calendar. It s**ks, like I hate it.

“Yea I prayed for this but I feel like it’s too much. People keep telling me it’s going to reduce; it will calm down, no! it’s not calming down, it keeps getting worse. I don’t have a life of my own anymore. I feel like I want my old life back.”
