This is in reply to some comment former president John Mahama made, in which he termed the Bawumia-led NPP’s agenda as ‘stupid’.

Speaking at a campaign rally in the Oforikrom constituency, Dr. Bawumia highlighted the NPP’s record of implementing impactful policies over the last eight years, which, he noted, have touched nearly every Ghanaian household.

Dr. Bawumia emphasized that while the NPP has delivered real results, the NDC lacks similar accomplishments to showcase.

“Insults and personal attacks won’t decide this election—ideas and records will,” he remarked, expressing confidence in his party’s prospects for victory.

In support, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Wontumi, stated that the party is committed to achieving an overwhelming win, aiming for an 80% vote share in the Ashanti Region.

He assured party faithful that the NPP is mobilizing fully to secure another term, focusing on its record of governance.

If you trust your track record, debate me – Bawumia tells Mahama http://34.58.148.58/if-you-trust-your-track-record-debate-me-bawumia-tells-mahama/ Tue, 27 Aug 2024 20:55:29 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2439911 Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has once again thrown a challenge to the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to engage in a presidential debate.

According to him, John Mahama’s refusal to engage in debate confirms that, the former president was running away and was not confident in his policies since his track record during his time as president was nothing to write home about.

Addressing supporters in Dansoman on August 27, he said presidential debates were a common practice in many advanced democracies hence, he did not understand why Mr Mahama had consistently declined the invite.

“The former President knows he cannot compete because, in every sector of the economy, the records show that we have performed far better than him.

“That’s why I challenged him that if he believes, he performed better in any sector, he should come for an open debate. But he is afraid so he is running away from a debate.”

“He won’t come for the debate because he knows his bad record will be exposed. If he comes for the debate, I will show him something,” Dr Bawumia said.

Highlighting the bad records of Mahama during his tenure as President, the NPP flagbearer reminded the supporters how the nation endured ‘dumsor’ under Mr Mahama’s administration, and how his opponent was unable to supply chalk to basic schools.

He also recounted the many times the NDC flagbearer had opposed Free Senior High School and how he cancelled teacher and nursing trainee allowances, among many others.

“We have not forgotten all these bad records… We are moving forward. We are making progress with digitalisation. As President, he could not provide chalk to schools, but we have provided laptops to senior high students. This is the progress the country has made and we want to move forward and make it even better,” Dr Bawumia added.

Bawumia can’t disassociate himself from economic mess – Mahama http://34.58.148.58/bawumia-cant-disassociate-himself-from-economic-mess-mahama/ Thu, 15 Aug 2024 18:48:04 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2434396 Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama has said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia cannot disassociate himself from the current economic challenges.

The former President stated that, Dr Bawumia as a running mate in 2016 held economic lectures, dished out juicy promises and criticised his administration.

Addressing chiefs and people at Anfoega in the North Dayi constituency, Mr Mahama emphasised that President Akufo-Addo presented Dr. Bawumia to Ghanaians as an economic messiah.

Considering Dr. Bawumia is a significant figure in Akufo-Addo’s administration, Mr Mahama said the economic mismanagement raises concerns over the former’s credibility to lead if elected President.

“It is shocking to see a Vice President who doubles a flagbearer of a ruling regime asking for votes to fix challenges, his party has created. Some come like sheep but are wolves, so we have to be careful,” he said.

Mr Mahama urged voters to be mindful of the power of leaders to make choices that affect many lives  and elect leaders they can trust to make discerning decisions.

Ghanaians won’t give Mahama another chance – Bawumia http://34.58.148.58/ghanaians-wont-give-mahama-another-chance-bawumia/ Fri, 09 Aug 2024 20:39:30 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2431774 The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is hopeful Ghanaians will reject John Mahama over, what he describes as, the poor performance of the NDC flagbearer in government.

Dr. Bawumia made this known when he paid a courtesy call on chiefs in the Nsawam Adoagyiri constituency of the Eastern region.

He said the contest is obviously between himself and John Mahama.

He, however, believes that John Mahama’s work as President is not worthy enough to be given another chance to lead the country.

For Dr Bawumia, John Mahama’s legacy includes years of erratic power supply, youth unemployment, and cancellation of teacher and nursing training allowances, which Ghanaians should not be made to experience again.

He explained that, the NPP government has been all about possibilities with the introduction of the free senior High School policy, teacher and nursing training allowance payment, digitization, planting for food and jobs, one constituency, and one ambulance amongst others.

In an interaction with the chiefs, he said it was his wish to be elected to continue the good works of the NPP government.

He used the opportunity to reiterate some of his policies including investments in agriculture, equipping the chieftaincy institution to augment the government’s development agenda, job creation and reduction in the cost of electricity through investments in solar energy.

“The 2024 election is between myself and the former president. We have all seen the performance of the former president. This is not something someone has to tell us, we all say it. During his tenure things didn’t go on well. He said the flesh of the country is all gone and it is left with the bones.

“Getting chalk in schools was a challenge, he cancelled training allowance, and nursing training also was cancelled. Jobs were difficult for our youth but he said he was not a magician to manufacture jobs for our people. We have been experiencing ‘dumsor’ for four years.

“In 2016, we went for the election and he lost. He came back in 2020 and we didn’t vote for him. He said he is coming back this 2024. I believe that by the grace of God and your grace as well we will vote him out again for me to go,” he stated.

He continued: “Since we came into office everybody will attest to the fact that we as NPP have been able to work more than the NDC.”

Come and debate me, so I can expose your empty policies – Bawumia challenges Mahama [Video] http://34.58.148.58/come-and-debate-me-so-i-can-expose-your-empty-policies-bawumia-challenges-mahama/ Thu, 11 Jul 2024 08:33:17 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2420668 Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Alhaji Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia is challenging National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, former President John Mahama for a national debate on issues so Ghanaians can weigh the policies of the two.

Speaking at a mini rally in Bunkpurugu as he begins phase two of his nationwide campaign tour, Dr. Bawumia said that it is unfortunate that the former President doesn’t want to debate him, because he knows that he (Dr. Bawumia) will expose the emptiness of his policies.

He said that the former President’s 24-hour economy is as empty as an empty barrel, and that none of his own people can even explain it.

According to Dr. Bawumia, the debate stage will discuss the economy, the governance and the progress of the country and that he is looking forward to debating Mr. Mahama on these issues.

“I am looking forward to a debate, with John Mahama on the economy, on the country, on the government. But I am afraid that he is running away from a debate. Isn’t? His people say he doesn’t want to debate. But he doesn’t want to debate because he knows I’ll expose the emptiness of his policies” he said.

“He says he has a 24-hour economy that he cannot explain. It is as empty as an empty barrel. He cannot explain, none of his people can explain. They say they will be exporting lions and elephants. But when we meet, mano-a-mano, we can debate, and Ghanaians will see where our policies lie. And that is the way we should go”

Dr. Bawumia advocated for the candidates to allow the people of Ghana the chance to know their policies, but if Mr. Mahama chooses not to debate, he will continue to sell his own policies.

2024 election: Ghanaians have had enough of Bawumia – Prof Alabi http://34.58.148.58/2024-election-ghanaians-have-had-enough-of-bawumia-prof-alabi/ Thu, 20 Jun 2024 08:36:03 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2410970 The campaign manager of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, Professor Joshua Alabi has said the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia poses less threat to their victory in the upcoming December 7 election.

This conviction according to him is based on the failure of the Akufo-Addo-led government in which Dr Bawumia has served as a Vice President for eight years.

He indicated that, the NPP flagbearer does not warrant the trust of electorates because there have not been any positive results from his economic theories.

“If you have somebody who promised people one village, one dam and you don’t see it, One constituency, one million dollars, you don’t see it, One child, one chocolate, you don’t see it.

“One child, one laptop, you don’t see it, and these are practical things. You don’t even see anything moving on, then Ghanaians have had enough of Dr. Bawumia and his economic theory,” he stated.

Prof Alabi made the assertion in an interview with Accra-based Citi News on the back of his re-appointment on Tuesday, June 18.

“We all know the performance of John Dramani Mahama when he was in office, the massive infrastructural development he did. I am very confident that we will get our flagbearer to the seat of government,” he added.

We’re not talking about Guinea fowl projects but real projects – Bawumia to Mahama http://34.58.148.58/were-not-talking-about-guinea-fowl-projects-but-real-projects-bawumia-to-mahama/ Mon, 27 May 2024 14:24:02 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2400562 Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has taken a swipe at former President John Dramani Mahama during the 8th Ghana CEO Summit, asserting the Akufo-Addo administration’s significant achievements in advancing the country’s development agenda.

Dr Bawumia emphasised that the current government’s developmental projects are tangible and can be easily verified, contrasting them with what he termed the “guinea fowl” projects of Mr Mahama’s tenure.

Speaking at the summit on Monday, May 27, Dr Bawumia noted that projects under the Akufo-Addo administration were verifiable.

He insisted that these initiatives, unlike those of the previous administration, are real and can be tracked by the public.

This, he argued, demonstrates the current government’s commitment to transparency and accountability in its development efforts.

Dr Bawumia participated in the summit via Zoom from Canada, where he reiterated the government’s dedication to sustainable development.

He noted that the strides made under the Akufo-Addo administration are not only visible but also have a lasting impact on the country’s infrastructure and economic growth.

These accomplishments, according to Bawumia, set a solid foundation for future progress.

In his address, the Vice President outlined the various projects undertaken by the current administration, including improvements in healthcare, education, and infrastructure.

The Vice President stressed that these projects have been executed with precision and are benefiting many communities across Ghana.

“There were no vehicles for some of the projects we have done. We have done over 200 projects in the area of zongo development across all the zongos in the country. You look at our investment in technical and vocational education, over six billion Ghana Cedis in the last 7 years.”

“The highest investment in TVET by any government in the fourth republic, and we’ve made technical and vocational education also free in that context. You see in terms of our development authority, there are 1,609 projects completed. And under the Northern Development Authority it has also completed over 304 projects so far and so we are not talking about Guinea fowl projects but real projects,” he said.

You’ll account for $12m pumped into non-existent Pwalugu dam – Minority to government

This comes at a time when the Minority in parliament has vowed to do everything possible to demand accountability for funds allocated to the planned construction of the Pwalugu Multipurpose Dam in the Upper East Region.

The project, for which sod was cut in 2019, was expected to consist of a hydro-solar hybrid system with 60 MW hydropower and 50 MW solar power and to be completed in the second half of 2024.

Addressing journalists at the site, Mr Jinapor indicated that approximately $12 million had already been invested in the project, with nothing to show for it. He said the contractor is nowhere to be found, and parts of the site have been turned into farming areas by locals.

“We will activate all the parliamentary processes to retrieve that amount of money, almost 200 million cedis that has been dashed to this contractor. Somebody must be held accountable. $12 million can do a lot in this country. So we’ll use every legitimate means, every legal means to retrieve the money and punish those who have caused this financial crime and financial loss to the state,” he said.

Bawumia is ready to debate Mahama any day – Opare-Ansah http://34.58.148.58/bawumia-is-ready-to-debate-mahama-any-day-opare-ansah/ Mon, 29 Apr 2024 21:05:57 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2387796 Frederick Opare-Ansah, the campaign manager for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed confidence in the Vice President’s readiness to engage in a debate with former President, John Dramani Mahama at any given opportunity.

The former Suhum Member of Parliament spoke on the government’s accomplishments while acknowledging the prevailing global economic hurdles.

Nonetheless, he asserted that, Ghana has effectively addressed these challenges.

Mr. Opare-Ansah further said despite the adversities encountered, the current administration has surpassed its predecessor in terms of achievements.

“Our government records speak for itself. Everybody knows the challenges that the global economic phase has faced and Ghana is not an Island. Dr Bawumia has said on several forums and platforms that he sees a shared responsibility and he is not running away from whatever problem that the country and the government have faced.

“But even amidst that, if you take your time and really catalogue the things that this government has done in the face of these challenges, you will agree that this government has out-performed the previous government that did not have these challenges. So, he is ready any day any time to meet the main opposition challenger, John Dramani Mahama, to a debate at any place” he stated.

The NPP flagbearer, Dr Bawumia is currently on a nationwide campaign tour, beginning from the Eastern Region.

The campaign team’s focus, according to Frederick Opare-Ansah, the campaign manager, is on engaging with Ghanaians and incorporating their concerns into the party’s manifesto.

“We are out here to listen essentially to the concerns of Ghanaians and to solicit their views together in preparing the document that will go into the manifesto,” he added in an interview on Citi FM.
