Each Assembly Member will receive GH₵1,300 per month, the Minister, Ahmed Ibrahim, announced at a press briefing on Monday, July 14, 2025.

He explained that the initiative forms part of the government’s broader effort to strengthen grassroots governance under the Resetting Ghana Agenda.

According to the Minister, a total of GH₵23.6 million has already been disbursed to cover payments for April and May, following the release of GH₵25 million by the Ministry of Finance.

The amount represents the first tranche of the GH₵100 million earmarked for the initiative in the 2025 national budget.

A total of 9,085 Assembly Members are expected to benefit.

“The objective is to enhance their capacity and equip them with financial resources and logistics to deepen monitoring for all government projects being implemented in their various manifesto pledges,” the Minister stated.

This forms part of efforts to begin the payment of monthly allowances.

The Ministry has instructed all officials to use a standardised template provided by the Ministry and to submit the required information via email to the Decentralisation Unit, copying Mr. Samuel Passah at samuel.passah@mlgrd.gov.gh, no later than Friday, 9th May 2025.

The directive, dated 30th April 2025, follows the government’s commitment under its “Resetting Agenda” and refers to Page 73, Section 395 of the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy, which makes provision for monthly allowances for all Assembly Members.

Meanwhile, the assemblies have been urged to treat the matter with urgency and ensure timely submission to avoid delays in the implementation process.
