He described the directive as a sign of weakness towards cocoa farmers, especially in light of the recent price cut.

A delegation from the Minority Caucus in Parliament paid a courtesy visit to the Paramount Chief of the Offinso Traditional Area, Nana Dwamena Akenten II, during the celebration of the Asantes’ “Akwasidea” festival in Offinso.

Before touring cocoa-producing communities in the Ashanti Region, Frank Annoh-Dompreh led the team to seek the blessing of the Asantehene’s caretaker, following proper protocol in the absence of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The five-day tour aims to engage cocoa farmers and understand their concerns over the recent cocoa price cut, which has sparked widespread frustration and protests.

Mr. Annoh-Dompreh expressed deep concern about the plight of cocoa farmers, claiming that Licensed Buying Companies have been ordered to halt purchases.

“The government has directed Licensed Buying Companies (LBCs) to suspend cocoa purchases nationwide, causing distress among Ghanaian cocoa farmers, while Ivory Coast continues buying activities. We all know that in Ghana, you can’t smuggle cocoa, and the buying companies haven’t paid the farmers yet,” he said.

He added that the move effectively squeezes farmers and discourages them from raising complaints.

Annoh-Dompreh warned that the price reduction could have a detrimental effect on farmers and the cocoa industry as a whole. He stressed that governments cannot take cocoa benefits lightly, and farmers deserve a fair share of the profits.

“When the NDC came to power, we all know where the cocoa price was and where it has been reduced to. It’s clear that farmers, who have in-depth knowledge about cocoa production, are unhappy and uncomfortable with the price cut,” he noted.

While acknowledging that fluctuations in international cocoa prices are not new and that Ghana has systems to shield farmers from severe effects, he criticised the NDC for failing to utilise these measures.

Mr. Annoh-Dompreh assured that the Minority Caucus’s engagement with cocoa farmers is not confrontational towards the President but intended to genuinely understand the challenges facing farmers.

Nana Dwamena Akenten II welcomed the caucus’ goodwill, emphasising that cocoa farmers remain the backbone of Ghana’s cocoa economy and deserve greater attention and support from policymakers.

“The cocoa price cut has hit us hard because I’m a fellow cocoa farmer. It’s good that you’ve come to hear the farmers’ concerns firsthand. Don’t just take our concerns and leave; champion our cause,” he said.

On behalf of the Asantehene, he gave the delegation the green light to proceed with their tour and advised that their engagement with farmers should not be driven by political motives.

Annoh-Dompreh, Dr Yaw Opoku lead week-long Minority visit to cocoa farmers in Ashanti Region http://34.58.148.58/annoh-dompreh-dr-yaw-opoku-lead-week-long-minority-visit-to-cocoa-farmers-in-ashanti-region/ Mon, 16 Mar 2026 07:28:18 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2640836 The Minority Caucus in Parliament is set to embark on a week-long tour of cocoa-growing communities in the Ashanti Region to engage farmers and assess the impact of the recent reduction in cocoa producer prices.

The exercise will run from Monday, March 16 to Friday, March 20, 2026, and will be led by Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh, alongside the Member of Parliament for Offinso South, Dr Isaac Yaw Opoku.

As part of the tour, the delegation will visit the Offinsomanhene, who is standing in for Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, currently out of the jurisdiction.

The visit aims to strengthen ties with traditional authorities and provide Minority members with an opportunity to gather first-hand perspectives on cocoa farming and the broader socio-economic conditions in cocoa-producing communities.

Members of Parliament expected to participate include Nana Asafo-Agyei Ayeh, Kwaku Asante-Boateng, Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi, Seth Osei Akoto, Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah, Eric Nana Agyemang-Prempeh, Yaw Frimpong Addo, Tweneboa Kodua Fokuo, Anthony Mmieh, Ralph Poku Adusei, Patrick Boakye-Yiadom, Isaac Yaw Opoku, and Fred Kyei Asamoah. Former Minister George Oduro and former District Chief Executive Alex are also expected to join the delegation.

The Minority Caucus says the tour is part of its efforts to better understand the challenges facing cocoa farmers and to advocate policies that protect their livelihoods while safeguarding the long-term sustainability of Ghana’s cocoa sector.

Annoh-Dompreh leads Minority MPs to Offinso Traditional Council ahead of Ashanti Cocoa Farmers Tour http://34.58.148.58/annoh-dompreh-leads-minority-mps-to-offinso-traditional-council-ahead-of-ashanti-cocoa-farmers-tour/ Sun, 15 Mar 2026 15:26:24 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2640697 Minority Members of Parliament, led by the Minority Chief Whip and MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, on Sunday paid a courtesy call on the Offinsomanhene, Nana Dwamena Akenten II, and the Queenmother, Nana Adwoa Afranewaa III, during the Akwasidae celebration in Offinso, Ashanti Region.

The visit was intended to seek the blessings of the traditional leaders ahead of a week-long tour of cocoa-growing communities in the region.

According to the delegation, the tour aims to engage cocoa farmers directly to understand their concerns, particularly regarding recent reductions in producer prices, often described by farmers as “cocoa price haircuts.”

The MPs noted that the exercise would allow them to gather firsthand information from farmers and represent their concerns in Parliament. They also indicated plans to formally brief Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on the issues raised by cocoa farmers across the region after the tour.

Receiving the delegation, Nana Dwamena Akenten II welcomed the MPs and urged them to approach farmers’ concerns with fairness and a national perspective. He cautioned against excessive partisan politics, stressing that the welfare of cocoa farmers should remain a national priority.

The Ashanti Region engagement follows a similar exercise earlier conducted by the Minority in the Eastern Region, where MPs visited cocoa-growing communities to assess the impact of falling producer prices and other challenges affecting farmers.

The visit comes in response to the government’s recent reduction in cocoa producer prices, a decision that has sparked concern among farmers and drawn strong criticism from the Minority.

Government officials have justified the adjustment by pointing to declining global cocoa prices, stating that the decision aligns with prevailing international market conditions.

However, Mr Annoh-Dompreh and his colleagues argue that the move unfairly burdens farmers, who are already grappling with rising input costs and economic hardship.

During engagements with cocoa farmers, the Minority Chief Whip described the reduction as a “rip-off” and insisted that producers should not bear the full impact of global price fluctuations. He suggested that the government should consider offering a bailout to cushion farmers and protect the cocoa sector.

Accompanying Mr Annoh-Dompreh on the tour were Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Isaac Yaw Opoku, Michael Aidoo, Seth Osei-Akoto, Samuel Awuku, Ida Adjoa Asiedu, Laurette Korkor Asante, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, Charles Asuako Owiredu, Alexander Agyare, Davis Opoku Ansah, Gideon Boako, and Rudolf Amoako-Gyampah.

The Minority Caucus reiterated its commitment to advocating for policies that protect cocoa farmers and ensure the long-term sustainability of the industry.

The initiative saw a massive turnout over the weekend, with residents benefiting from free eye screenings and medical support.

The exercise, held at the Methodist Astroturf in Djankrom and within the Adoagyiri community, screened approximately 3,000 residents from across the constituency.

Young and old alike took advantage of the opportunity to undergo eye examinations, receive free medication, and access essential health checks.

According to Mr. Annoh-Dompreh, beneficiaries who require prescription glasses will be provided with them at no cost, while those diagnosed with conditions needing surgical intervention will undergo free operations at Valley View University in June.

He noted that the project is designed to ensure that no resident is denied quality eye care due to financial constraints.

The MP expressed profound appreciation to partners, including the Columbia Union Conference in the United States, medical teams, traditional authorities, party members, and volunteers whose collective efforts made the outreach possible.

He emphasised that collaboration remains key to extending quality healthcare services to every part of the constituency.

Mr. Annoh-Dompreh stressed that the initiative goes beyond medical screening, describing it as an investment in the well-being of the people of Nsawam-Adoagyiri.

He reaffirmed his commitment to championing projects that restore hope, enhance livelihoods, and contribute to building a healthier and stronger community.

Sharing details of the visit on his Facebook page on Monday, the Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri described the project as a major step towards improving community health services.

According to Mr. Annoh-Dompreh, the facility is being developed through his office to serve residents of Adoagyiri and neighbouring communities.

“On Sunday, I inspected the ongoing construction of a new Health Centre in Adoagyiri, a project being developed through my office to serve residents of Adoagyiri and surrounding communities,” he stated.

He explained that the centre will be equipped with spacious wards, modern rooms, and improved infrastructure to enhance quality healthcare delivery.

“The facility will have spacious wards, modern rooms, and improved infrastructure to ensure quality healthcare delivery for our people,” he noted, adding that once completed, it is expected to become one of the biggest health facilities in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Constituency, catering to thousands of residents.

The Minority Chief Whip further pledged to ensure the centre is fully furnished and operational. “I am also committed to installing hospital beds and essential medical equipment to make the centre fully operational and ready to serve our community,” he assured.

Mr. Annoh-Dompreh reaffirmed his longstanding focus on health infrastructure since assuming office.

“This is about bringing quality healthcare closer to the people and building a healthier Nsawam-Adoagyiri for today and the future,” he emphasised, stressing that he will continue to champion projects that strengthen healthcare delivery across the constituency while supporting the main Government Hospital.

Akufo-Addo gov’t put over ¢138m into the Sinking Fund – Annoh-Dompreh http://34.58.148.58/akufo-addo-govt-put-over-%c2%a2138m-into-the-sinking-fund-annoh-dompreh/ Thu, 26 Feb 2026 11:52:48 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2635276 The Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has defended the record of the erstwhile Akufo-Addo administration, insisting that it made significant contributions to the Sinking Fund during its tenure.

He said the previous government deposited over GH¢138 million into the Fund.

Speaking during the presentation of the Business Statement for the ensuing week in Parliament, Mr Annoh-Dompreh challenged assertions that the former administration had failed to take meaningful steps to resource the Sinking Fund.

He maintained that the record shows clear financial commitments made under the previous government.

According to him, the claim that the GH¢138 million deposited into the Fund “didn’t do anything” does not reflect the full picture of the government’s debt management efforts at the time.

He argued that such contributions formed part of a broader strategy to meet Ghana’s debt servicing obligations.

Mr Annoh-Dompreh said it was important for the House and the public to be guided by facts when assessing the performance of successive administrations.

He stressed that the previous government had demonstrated commitment by allocating substantial resources into the Fund.

He therefore urged the current Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, to provide an update on the status of the Sinking Fund and outline clear steps being taken to ensure sustained contributions in line with earlier promises.

He made the remarks on the floor of Parliament during the presentation of the Business Statement for the ensuing week.

Mr Annoh-Dompreh recalled that during his vetting, Dr Ato Forson indicated that one of the policies of the new administration would be to prioritise payments into the Sinking Fund as part of efforts to strengthen debt management.

According to the Minority Chief Whip, the Minister had criticised the previous government’s handling of the Fund and pledged to do more if approved.

“During his vetting, he courageously said that one of the government’s policies would be to help put funds into the Sinking Fund. You had said that the previous government that put GH¢138 million into the Fund didn’t do anything and you were going to do more,” he stated.

However, Mr Annoh-Dompreh expressed concern that the pledge has not been fulfilled.

“But Mr Speaker, as we speak, not even a cedi has been paid into the Sinking Fund. Nothing,” he stressed, drawing the attention of the House to what he described as a worrying development.

He therefore called on the Finance Minister to return to Parliament to address the issue.

“The Minister must come back to the House to address matters relating to the Sinking Fund and respond to the concerns raised,” he added, urging greater transparency and accountability in the management of the country’s debt obligations.

Annoh-Dompreh ‘exposes’ NDC government over DACF controversy http://34.58.148.58/annoh-dompreh-exposes-ndc-government-over-dacf-controversy/ Wed, 25 Feb 2026 11:23:39 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2634802 Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh has alleged that the NDC administration exhibits constitutional inconsistencies and fiscal mismanagement following the release of the 2025 DACF Guidelines.

At a detailed press briefing, he argued that the guidelines conflict directly with the formula approved by Parliament under Article 252 of the 1992 Constitution.

He explained that the parliamentary formula was structured using empirical indicators such as equality components, needs-based factors, and service pressure data to ensure equitable distribution among 261 MMDAs.

However, he said the ministerial guidelines introduce fixed national percentages for specific projects that do not appear in the approved formula.

“This is not interpretation; this is substitution,” he asserted, describing the move as constitutionally questionable.

The Minority Chief Whip also highlighted what he termed a “disturbing disparity” between DACF disbursements and transfers to other statutory funds.

He noted that while GETFund and the National Health Insurance Fund have seen substantial releases, DACF allocations remain plagued by arrears and delays. “The Constitution does not rank DACF as secondary. It is entrenched, protected, and mandatory,” he emphasised.

He further cited the Supreme Court’s 2019 ruling in Benjamin Komla Kpodo & Richard Quashigah v. Attorney-General, which held that DACF allocations cannot be capped below five per cent of total national revenue. Any deviation from that threshold, he said, constitutes non-compliance.

“We cannot preach decentralisation and practise fiscal centralisation,” Annoh-Dompreh stated.

He concluded by calling for immediate corrective measures, including a binding automatic computation mechanism to guarantee compliance with the constitutional five per cent requirement.

He insisted that the Minority would maintain rigorous oversight. “When executive action drifts beyond constitutional boundaries, it is our duty to expose it. Accountability is not optional; it is the lifeblood of our democracy,” he declared.

Annoh-Dompreh raises alarm over DACF capping and growing arrears http://34.58.148.58/annoh-dompreh-raises-alarm-over-dacf-capping-and-growing-arrears/ Wed, 25 Feb 2026 11:13:28 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2634785 Beyond the dispute over the 2025 DACF guidelines, the Minority has raised concerns about what it describes as chronic underfunding and accumulating arrears in the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).

Mr. Annoh-Dompreh cited Article 252(2) of the Constitution, which mandates that at least five per cent of total national revenue be allocated to the DACF. He also referenced the Supreme Court’s 2019 ruling in Benjamin Komla Kpodo & Richard Quashigah v. Attorney-General, which struck down attempts to cap the Fund below the constitutional threshold.

“That ruling was clear. The five per cent is not negotiable,” he emphasised.

He alleged that transfers from the Annual Budget Funding Amount in recent years have fallen well below the constitutional minimum, creating what he described as “an arrears trap” that leaves assemblies perpetually underfunded.

According to Mr. Annoh-Dompreh, unpaid DACF obligations, estimated in billions of cedis, have stalled infrastructure projects, delayed contractor payments, and weakened local service delivery.

“When constitutional funds are delayed, communities pay the price,” he said.

According to Mr. Annoh-Dompreh, the DACF Administrator is legally bound under Section 125 of Act 936 to implement only the formula sanctioned by Parliament.

“Administrative circulars cannot amend constitutional mandates,” he emphasized.

The Caucus also urged Parliament to reassert its authority under Article 252, stressing that legislative supremacy in public finance is fundamental to democratic governance.

In addition, the Minority appealed to civil society organisations and the media to strengthen oversight. “Transparency is the oxygen of decentralisation,” Mr. Annoh-Dompreh said, warning that public silence could encourage constitutional deviations.

He added that correcting the guidelines is crucial not only for procedural integrity but also for restoring confidence among district assemblies.

He made the call during his contribution to the presentation of the Business Statement for the ensuing week by the Majority Leader, Hon. Mahama Ayariga, on Friday, February 6.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament, Mr. Annoh-Dompreh highlighted the sharp increase in prices of essential commodities.

“Cost of living has gone through the roof. Prices of items, including yam, gari, tomatoes, and others have all gone through the roof,” he said, stressing the urgent need for government intervention.

He called on Parliament to schedule a session for the Finance Minister to update legislators on measures being taken to curb inflation.

“I think we should programme the Finance Minister to come and brief the House on the measures taken to curb this,” he said, emphasising the importance of timely action to address public concerns.

Mr. Annoh-Dompreh noted that in previous engagements, Dr. Forson had been active in discussing economic matters directly with market stakeholders.

“The last time, before he presented the budget statement, he was all over the place talking to Makola market women. Now is the time he should come and brief us,” he added, urging accountability and transparency in the management of the economy.

The Minority Chief Whip’s remarks come amid growing public anxiety over rising food and commodity prices, as Parliament prepares for a busy week of business and policy discussions.

Lawmakers are expected to debate key economic issues and may consider scheduling the Finance Minister’s briefing in response to the concerns raised.

The call came during parliamentary proceedings on Tuesday, sparked by the absence of Ministers required to answer urgent questions on the floor.

Mr. Annoh-Dompreh expressed frustration over a long-standing question advertised for the Minister for Public Sector Reform, which has remained unanswered on the order paper.

“We have to take this question because we’ll be rising on Friday. Otherwise, it’s going to be a problem,” he stated.

The situation was compounded by a notification from the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, informing the House of his inability to appear.

While the Whip spoke kindly of the Minister, “Eric [Opoku] has been a very dutiful person. I won’t begrudge him,” he insisted that parliamentary protocol and duty demanded a replacement.

“His deputy must be here,” Mr Annoh-Dompreh asserted.

The MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri turned his critique into a direct message to the Presidency.

“The President must be watching. The first reshuffle must happen,” he said.

He suggested that ministers who are “not ready to do public business” should be replaced.

The legislator further pointed out that “Honourable Vanderpuye, for instance, is waiting. He has been lacing his shoe for a very long time.”

Annoh-Dompreh was not blocked from Assembly during MCE vote – NDC Chairman http://34.58.148.58/annoh-dompreh-was-not-blocked-from-assembly-during-mce-vote-ndc-chairman/ Wed, 14 May 2025 11:54:17 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2534866

Eastern Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mark Oliver Kevor, has clarified that Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, was never restricted from entering the Assembly premises during the confirmation of MCE nominee, Philibert Fumey Selorm.

In an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Kevor explained that the voting process went smoothly, with 42 ballots cast.

The nominee required at least 28 votes to secure confirmation and received 29 votes.

He stated that each nominee had designated agents and a presiding officer to monitor the voting process. However, tensions arose when the MP insisted on joining the sorting and counting process — a request that was challenged and ultimately denied, leading to some commotion.

“There was a bit of misunderstanding when he tried to join the sorting and counting, which is not allowed, so the situation became tense. Security intervened to restore calm, and the process continued,” Mr. Kevor explained.

He further noted that while the event took place inside the Assembly Hall, a large crowd gathered outside, cheering and hooting, which may have made the MP feel threatened. Police subsequently escorted him to his vehicle for safety.

“At no point was the MP barred from entering the premises. He was even allowed to address the Assembly. The only issue was during the counting, where he was not permitted to participate,” he emphasized.

The chaos erupted after the MP attempted to assert his role as a polling agent during the voting process but was met with strong resistance from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Deputy Regional Organizer, David Dakudzi, and local police.

Prior to the polls, reports indicated that Annoh-Dompreh had vowed to block the confirmation of Philibert Fumey Selorm, the MCE nominee, who had previously challenged him in the 2024 parliamentary elections—a contest that ended up in court.

As tensions escalated inside the assembly hall, clashes broke out between supporters of the nominee and the MP, with the situation remaining volatile until the final vote was cast.

Following the voting, police officers formed a security cordon around the counting center where Electoral Commission officials tallied the ballots. The nominee secured confirmation with 29 out of 38 votes.

However, the announcement further enraged NDC supporters, who demanded that Annoh-Dompreh be released to them, shouting threats of retaliation. Police swiftly intervened, escorting the MP to the municipal NADMO office under heavy security as angry protesters gave chase.

The incident comes just weeks after a Koforidua High Court dismissed an election petition challenging Annoh-Dompreh’s 2024 parliamentary victory. The case, which sought to nullify his win, was struck out following a legal application filed by Gary Nimako Marfo, the New Patriotic Party’s Director of Legal Affairs.

The standoff highlights deepening political divisions in the constituency, raising concerns over future governance and security in the area.

‘Shift your focus from political provocation to completing projects’ – Annoh-Dompreh told http://34.58.148.58/shift-your-focus-from-political-provocation-to-completing-projects-annoh-dompreh-told/ Sun, 16 Feb 2025 11:12:10 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2505033 Concerned members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency have called on the Member of Parliament (MP), Frank Annoh-Dompreh, to prioritize the completion of abandoned projects instead of engaging in political provocations.

The group accused the MP of inciting violence by allegedly urging New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters to attack NDC members.

According to them, his actions have heightened political tensions in the area ahead of the December 7 elections.

Speaking on behalf of the group, spokesperson Nana Kwame Okyere criticized the MP’s conduct, describing it as unbecoming of a lawmaker.

“Our MP is supposed to set a good example, but instead, he is promoting division. We urge him to shift his focus from inciting his supporters to completing the many unfinished projects in the constituency,” Okyere stated.

He highlighted several incomplete projects, including roadworks, community centers, and school infrastructure, which he said were left halfway after being launched with fanfare last year.

The NDC members also questioned the MP’s declaration of victory with a 210-vote margin based on provisional Electoral Commission (EC) results. The group insists that the results were manipulated and have pledged to challenge them in court.

“We will not sit back while our community is neglected. We expect development, not distractions,” Okyere added.

The call for Mr. Annoh-Dompreh to focus on development comes as tensions continue to rise in the constituency.

The NDC maintains that peace can only be restored if the MP abandons divisive tactics and fulfills his mandate to the people.

Annoh-Dompreh, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri, called on his party members last week to strongly oppose the NDC, particularly in relation to the disputed Ablekuma North parliamentary election.

The NIB questioned him as part of an investigation into the motive behind his allegedly inciteful remarks. JoyNews understands that the MP visited the NIB office to respond to the inquiry.

Background
The Minority Chief Whip and MP for Nsawam Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, encouraged members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to support their fellow party members in all political situations.

He stated that no NPP member should hesitate to defend another if they are in trouble.

He made the comment during a visit to the residence of the NPP parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma North, Akua Afriyie, on Thursday, February 6.

NDC’s actions sparked Annoh-Dompreh’s controversial comment – Ahiagbah http://34.58.148.58/ndcs-actions-sparked-annoh-domprehs-controversial-comment-ahiagbah/ Fri, 07 Feb 2025 09:08:18 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2501848 New Patriotic Party (NPP) Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah, has attributed Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh’s controversial remarks on the Ablekuma North parliamentary election to disruptions caused by National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters in the constituency.

Annoh-Dompreh had urged NPP supporters in Ablekuma North to stand by their party members in confrontations with the NDC.

Speaking at a gathering of NPP supporters during a visit by the party’s parliamentary candidate, Akua Afriyie, Annoh-Dompreh stated, “If indeed you are a member of the NPP and you go to meet your fellow party member fighting a member of the NDC, join your party member to beat the NDC member.”

The Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP accused the NDC of deliberately obstructing the Electoral Commission (EC) from completing the collation process and warned that the NPP would not tolerate further delays.

In an interview on Channel One Newsroom, Ahiagbah emphasized the need for stakeholders, including the government, to address the root causes of the ongoing election disputes.

“This whole election in Ablekuma North is a problem, and I think it should be a priority for all of us, including the president, because the EC has requested government support to provide security for the collation and conclusion of the election.”

He argued that the focus should be on the disruptions rather than Annoh-Dompreh’s remarks.

“Why haven’t we concluded that election? It’s because NDC supporters in the constituency are disrupting the process. The IGP is not doing what he is supposed to do, as directed by the High Court, to provide security for the election to be concluded. Those, for me, are the key issues.”

Ahiagbah also pointed to a January 17 incident where NDC supporters, led by their Greater Accra Regional Organiser, disrupted and vandalized property at the EC regional office.

“Why are we not talking about that? That’s the actual violence. These are the effects of those actions. I don’t think we should be promoting violence, but we should be solving the problem.”

He maintained that resolving the root issues would prevent such remarks from being made in the first place.

“If we solve the problem, he won’t hold a mic to say what he is saying. That is not to justify his comments, but why don’t we solve the problem?”

‘Help your NPP colleagues to beat NDC members if…’ – Annoh-Dompreh [Video] http://34.58.148.58/help-your-npp-colleagues-to-beat-ndc-members-if-annoh-dompreh-video/ Thu, 06 Feb 2025 17:21:05 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2501694 Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has called on supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ablekuma North to unite and support each other.

He charged supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to stand by their party members in confrontations with the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Speaking to NPP supporters during a visit to the Ablekuma North constituency, amidst the delayed declaration of a winner in the 2024 election, he made a provocative statement:

“If indeed you are a member of the NPP and you go to meet your fellow party member fighting a member of the NDC, join your party member to beat the NDC member,” Mr. Annoh-Dompreh charged.

The MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri also accused the NDC of deliberately obstructing the Electoral Commission (EC) from completing the collation process. He further expressed his frustration over the delay in declaring the winner of the Ablekuma North seat.

“We are giving the EC one week—seven days. The EC must come and declare our candidate as the winner of the Ablekuma North election,” he insisted.

Mr. Annoh-Dompreh warned that any further delay in announcing Akua Afriyie as the MP-elect for the constituency would result in continuous disruptions in Parliament.

“If the NDC, led by Mahama Ayariga, does not act reasonably and continues to prevent the EC from completing the collation, they will never know peace in Parliament,” he added.

He also called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo-Dampare, to intervene decisively against what he described as the NDC’s disruptive tactics.

“If the IGP also decides to look on unconcerned and allow these people to continue like this, we will continue to demonstrate,” Mr. Annoh-Dompreh warned.

As the people of Ablekuma North await the official declaration from the EC, both the NPP and NDC candidates have mounted ‘thank you’ billboards in the area, each claiming victory.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, the Minority Chief Whip emphasized that his decision to run was not driven by greed but by a desire to serve and leverage his experience for the benefit of his constituents.

“I will contest again in 2028. It’s not because I am greedy, but because I believe my experience in Parliament is valuable,” he said.

According to him, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is going through a difficult period, and experienced lawmakers like himself must help rebuild and refocus the party.

“This is a difficult time for the party, and with the experience I have gathered in my four terms, we need to focus on what didn’t go well and do better next time,” he stated.

Annoh-Dompreh expressed confidence that his constituents still support him, noting that he has unfinished business in Nsawam-Adoagyiri.

“I am confident the people of Nsawam-Adoagyiri still love me as their MP. I believe the love is deep, and I am ready to continue working for them,” he added.

What happened in Nsawam was a war and not an election – Annoh-Dompreh http://34.58.148.58/what-happened-in-nsawam-was-a-war-and-not-an-election-annoh-dompreh/ Wed, 05 Feb 2025 17:35:14 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2501225 Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has described the 2024 December elections in his constituency as a “war” rather than a democratic exercise.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Mr. Annoh-Dompreh strongly denied any involvement in a shooting incident in Nsawam last year that left one person hospitalized.

He insisted that he has never wielded a firearm and urged the Ghana Police Service to conduct a thorough investigation.

“I have never shot a gun before. The soldiers who were protecting me only fired warning shots to disperse the crowd,” he stated.

Recalling the tense moments, he alleged that his opponents had orchestrated an attack to unseat him.

“They threw a stone at my car gate, and if not for God’s intervention, it would have hit me. The soldiers had to run for their lives,” he recounted.

Mr. Annoh-Dompreh accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of planning the chaos in an attempt to take his parliamentary seat.

“It was a well-rehearsed plan by the NDC, targeted at snatching my seat. But I stood my ground and emerged victorious,” he asserted.

Despite the challenges, he expressed confidence in the legitimacy of his victory.

“In the midst of all the attacks, I won. My savior was my pink sheet,” he said, referring to the electoral results sheet.

He further noted that although the NDC has taken the matter to court, he and his legal team have yet to be officially served with their petition.

Mr. Annoh-Dompreh secured 29,640 votes, defeating his closest contender, Fummey Philibert of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who polled 29,433 votes—a slim margin of 207 votes.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, the Minority Chief Whip admitted he did not expect the race to be so close.

“People kept telling me I had already won, so we didn’t expect the margin to be this close,” he said.

According to him, internal party challenges played a major role in the NPP’s overall poor performance.

“There were internal and external issues, and we struggled to win most of our seats. I’m still trying to understand why this happened, and I will look forward to finding the reasoning behind it,” he stated.

He added that during the campaign, he focused primarily on Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s presidential bid but later realized the NDC had a more effective strategy.

“We did our research and realized that NDC supporters were focused on Mahama. They turned out in large numbers, but in our strongholds, turnout was low—just about 50,000 plus. If we had more of our people coming out to vote, I would have won comfortably,” he noted.

Mr. Annoh-Dompreh believes the party must analyze these issues to prevent a repeat in future elections.

Adoagyiri residents demand apology from Hardcastle over remarks against Annoh-Dompreh http://34.58.148.58/adoagyiri-residents-demand-apology-from-hardcastle-over-remarks-against-annoh-dompreh/ Tue, 04 Feb 2025 09:27:21 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2500447 Concerned citizens of Adoagyiri-Nsawam in the Eastern Region are calling on Emeafa Hardcastle, the Acting Chief Executive of the Petroleum Commission, to issue a full apology to their Member of Parliament (MP) and Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, over her recent remarks.

The residents described Ms. Hardcastle’s comments during a public altercation with the MP as unfortunate and disrespectful.

The heated exchange took place on January 28 during a recess in the Parliamentary Appointments Committee proceedings, where Hardcastle referred to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) caucus as a “Micro-Minority.” This led to a confrontation with Annoh-Dompreh.

Although Hardcastle has since apologized to the House of Parliament, residents of Adoagyiri-Nsawam, particularly women, are insisting that she must directly apologize to their MP and the community.

They argue that public officials must uphold respect and decorum in their interactions with elected representatives.

The women remain firm in their demand for a direct and unconditional apology to Annoh-Dompreh and the people of Adoagyiri-Nsawam, stressing that accountability and mutual respect must be prioritized in public service.

I won’t allow Emeafa Hardcastle to have her way – Annoh-Dompreh [Listen] http://34.58.148.58/i-wont-allow-emeafa-hardcastle-to-have-her-way-annoh-dompreh-listen/ Wed, 29 Jan 2025 09:20:20 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2498250 Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has stated that he will not allow the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Commission, Emeafa Hardcastle, to get away with her comments directed at him.

“I won’t allow her to have her way. Whatever she has to do to apologise to Parliament, she must. She cannot sit down and denigrate Parliament,” he said.

This follows a heated exchange that ensued between them during the vetting of Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the Minister-Designate for Defence, when the Appointments Committee took a brief recess.

During this break, a verbal altercation, a video from which has gone viral occurred between Annoh-Dompreh and Madam Hardcastle.

The Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP claimed that as he was leaving the room, Madam Hardcastle made remarks such as, “You are threatening me that you are taking me on because who are you? What do you mean by taking me on? You are a micro-minority. Doesn’t Afenyo-Markin himself use that phrase? I don’t have time for that. You think you can bully me here?”

But Mr. Annoh-Dompreh in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, responded firmly that he would take her on, stressing the seriousness of the exchange.

“I didn’t insult her. But I won’t let her denigrate the Parliament of Ghana. If I had acted that way towards her as a respected lawyer, I would have been condemned, and I won’t condone such behaviour from her.

“The world is round, and people should understand that. I believe she had already made up her mind to confront me even before she left home. I’m shocked that a woman would verbally abuse a man. This is something that should not be tolerated,” Annoh-Dompreh clarified.

The lawmaker acknowledged that the verbal exchange might have stemmed from comments he made in Parliament, which possibly angered Hardcastle.

Annoh-Dompreh also stressed that he did not provoke Hardcastle and is carefully considering how to proceed.

“I’m convinced my statements in Parliament triggered her reaction. I am thinking through the process very carefully. I will exhaust all internal arrangements within Parliament, and after that, we will decide the way forward, or not,” he stated.

While expressing his concerns, he said he was leaving the matter to the Speaker of Parliament, who had promised to settle it.

He added, “I know that history will judge us. I have been quiet, waiting to see how this unfolds. But I won’t allow this matter to die. We will go through the full cycle of the process to ensure the right thing is done.”

Mr. Annoh-Dompreh secured 29,640 votes, narrowly defeating his closest contender, Fummey Philibert of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who garnered 29,433 votes—a margin of 207 votes.

Expressing his gratitude and excitement, Mr. Annoh-Dompreh described the victory as “sweet,” emphasizing that it reflects the true will of the people of Nsawam-Adoagyiri.

Background

The Electoral Commission undertook the re-collation and declaration of results for nine constituencies following a directive from the Accra High Court. The re-collation addresses disputes in constituencies such as Nsawam-Adoagyiri (Eastern Region), Ahafo Ano South West, Ahafo Ano North, Obuasi East (Ashanti Region), Dome-Kwabenya, Okaikwei Central, Ablekuma North, and Tema Central (Greater Accra Region), as well as Techiman South (Bono East Region).

The court ordered the EC to finalize the collation process and declare winners in accordance with electoral laws. It also mandated the Inspector-General of Police to provide adequate security at the collation centres.

The exercise, conducted under heavy police and military presence, continues at the EC’s Greater Accra Regional Office, with results from other constituencies expected shortly.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate, Amenorpe Philbert Fummey, has sued the Electoral Commission (EC) seeking a fresh election in the constituency.

This comes after disagreements delaying the collation of parliamentary results in the 2024 election.

In a writ, the plaintiff, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the NPP parliamentary candidate, is a defendant.

The plaintiff accused the EC of collating the results for the constituency using invalid statements of results (pink sheets).

The suit was filed at the Accra High Court today, Friday, December 13, by Mr Fummey’s lawyer, Godwin Edudzi Kudzo Tameklo, who is also the Director of Legal of the NDC.

In a video shared on X by Accra-based TV3, the Majority Chief Whip was seen with the bailiff, who announced the reason for his presence.

However, Annor-Dompreh, was heard saying “If you are doing your job, do your job,” as he walked off.

Mr. Osei Akoto criticized Annoh-Dompreh for what he referred to as “misbehaviour,” advising him to address his grievances through the proper legal channels.

He said the NDC itself is still contesting some of the parliamentary outcomes from the 2020 general elections in court.

In a social media post on December 12, 2024, Osei Akoto stated, “Annoh-Dompreh should stop misbehaving and go to court.

The NDC is still in court over seats that were stolen from us in 2020. If you believe your rights have been infringed upon, go to court. We cannot halt the transition because you lost your seat. Nsawam-Adoagyiri or Ghana does not belong to you.”

This comes amidst disputes over the results of the 2024 parliamentary elections.

Frank Annoh-Dompreh, on the other hand, has called for the suspension of the ongoing transition process.

In a press conference on December 11, 2024, he requested that the process be paused until the Electoral Commission (EC) has declared the results for certain constituencies.

He emphasized that ensuring all results are declared will guarantee a credible and trustworthy transition process, free from allegations of fraud.

“The EC has made it clear that it needs a security platform to declare the results. I appeal to President Akufo-Addo to halt the transition process until all outstanding seats are declared. Similarly, President-Elect Mahama should speak to his supporters to allow the EC to do its job,” Annoh-Dompreh said.

The EC is set to re-collate results from several constituencies, including Akwatia and Nsawam-Adoagyiri.

Suspend transition process – Annoh-Dompreh to Akufo-Addo http://34.58.148.58/suspend-transition-process-annoh-dompreh-to-akufo-addo/ Wed, 11 Dec 2024 14:18:20 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2482418 New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament and parliamentary candidate for Nsawam-Adoagyiri in the Eastern region, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has called on President Nana Akufo-Addo to suspend the ongoing transition process.

Akufo-Addo on Wednesday, December 11 met with President-elect John Mahama at the Jubilee House to commence the transition process.

However, the process according to him must be on hold until all disputed seats in the just-ended election are resolved.

The Majority Chief Whip made the appeal while addressing NPP supporters as his seat among others is still being contended.

Nsawam-Adoagyiri is one of the many constituencies whose collation of results in the December 7 elections was marred with violence.

“The President has initiated the transition process, but we plead with you to suspend it until the Electoral Commission officially declares the results for the four constituencies.

“The transition must be halted immediately until all disputed seats are resolved. Until then, no transition,” he appealed.

He added that, these constituencies were won by the NPP in the keen contest but there are  attempts to challenge the outcomes.

He asserted that if Akufo-Addo does not suspend the process, it could create an impression of neglecting the NPP’s interest.

The Minority Chief Whip, Governs Kwame Agbodza, made the allegations, raising concerns about the tendency of Mr Annoh-Dompreh’s act to cause chaos.

The Adaklu MP had alleged that, Parliament’s security granted an unauthorised entry to his colleague when access was officially to start at 8 am.

However, the Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP has fought off the claims, insisting his entry was through regular means.

According to him, he is one of the MPs who always arrive early for proceedings and his arrival on Tuesday was not out of the ordinary.

“I come to Parliament early, and I went to the Chamber. I was sitting there when they told me that they wanted to sweep the place, so I came out to stand here,” he explained to Accra-based Citi News.

Mr Annoh-Dompreh cautioned his colleague against making such allegations.

“There are lessons I need to teach him, he has to learn. He should be careful when making allegations. It is my duty to be sure everything is well. There are so many ways to kill the cat. We will do anything and everything to make sure that they do not walk over us,” he stated.

This according to him was in the early hours of Tuesday, October 22, ahead of the day’s proceedings.

Mr Agbodza explained that, the move violates official protocols as access to the Chamber officially began at 08:00 am.

The Minority Chief Whip made the claims in an interview with Adom News, indicting parliament’s security.
Mr Agbodza bemoaned that the action of his colleague Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP could lead to tension when proceedings begin at 10:00 am.
“Parliament issued a circular that the Chamber be opened at 8 am, yet the security apparatus of this country connived and opened the doors for Annoh-Dompreh to enter the Chamber. I am here, and I see him inside with the doors locked. The question is, how did he get in there?” Agbodza queried.
The Adaklu MP warned that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MPs and Parliament’s security would take responsibility should any chaotic scenes erupt.
“I can’t assure orderliness when Annoh-Dompreh has broken the law and is currently sitting in the Chamber and the security apparatus is not making any attempts to remove him.”

The Member of Parliament for Sefwi-Wiawso, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, has distanced himself from an apology issued on his behalf by the Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, following his expulsion by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin.

The incident occurred during a discussion on the nomination of two justices to the Supreme Court by President Akufo-Addo.

Speaker Bagbin had urged the House to consider the issues surrounding the full complement of the Supreme Court when the Appointments Committee presents its report.

However, Dr. Afriyie disagreed with the Speaker’s remarks, stating that it was not within Bagbin’s purview to make such comments.

This disagreement led the Speaker to order Dr. Afriyie’s removal from the House, describing his comments as “rude” and “disrespectful.”

In response, the Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, apologized to the Speaker on behalf of the caucus.

However, Dr. Afriyie in an interview on Citi FM denied any wrongdoing.

According to him, he did not authorized the Majority Chief Whip to apologize on his behalf.

The legislator maintained that, his comments were neither insulting nor disrespectful to the Speaker and did not warrant an apology.

“He apologised on my behalf? Well, he doesn’t have my permission to do that and this one you can put on record. We’ll take it to everywhere. I haven’t done any wrong, why should I apologise? So far I haven’t done anything wrong. I haven’t insulted the speaker, I haven’t disrespected him, what happened where’s the disrespect?” he quizzed.

During Monday’s session in Parliament, the Minority caucus raised dissatisfaction with Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin’s remark concerning the selection of  Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as Former President Mahama’s running mate for the 2024 elections.

He asked the Minority in Parliament not to launch a campaign against New Patriotic Party (NPP) legislators for being anti-women in response to Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin’s remark about former President John Dramanai Mahama’s running mate.

Afenyo-Markin believes her appointment reflected a lack of succession planning and visionary leadership within the NDC.

The Minority caucus demanded him to withdraw the comment, but he initially refused, disrupting the debate over the President’s State of the Nation speech.

The Second Deputy Speaker, Andrew Asiamah Amoako had to suspend proceedings for a while to allow matters to settle.

Mr Afenyo-Markin however withdrew his statement, saying, “Colleagues expressed a concern about the issue of age. Mr Speaker, the submission was to the effect that our opponents don’t have a clear succession plan for the future [and] not to denigrate their running mate based on age. So I withdraw that aspect of the submission that referred to her age as the basis of my contention.”

Addressing the press in Parliament, Annoh-Dompreh said “In our standing orders if somebody said something that is impugning a wrong motive you have the right to rise up at where you are and take the person on.

“Our colleagues should learn how to be tolerant, they should up their sense of tolerance. When Ato Forson and co were speaking, assuming without admitting that the Majority Leader had said something that borders on personal attacks on Prof Opoku-Agyemang, that is not how to go about it but we will be kind enough, that is how democratic we are, we always show the way.

“If it is the case that the mention of Prof and her age is their problem we will depart from there but the fact will be told, the story will be told, and the abysmal performance of John Mahama and their administration we will continue to expose that. Let nobody begin any crusade that we went on a viral attack on womanhood, that we will never do.”

Revealed: Haruna Iddrisu tried to lure top NPP man into NDC http://34.58.148.58/revealed-haruna-iddrisu-tried-to-lure-top-npp-man-into-ndc/ Tue, 23 Jan 2024 17:58:34 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2345718 The Majority Chief Whip and incumbent Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, recently shared insights into his past friendship with the MP for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu.

During their university days, Annoh-Dompreh revealed that Haruna Iddrisu, who was once the NUGS president and senior to him by three years, made persistent efforts to bring him into the National Democratic Congress (NDC) due to their close bond.

“Haruna was my friend long before my parliamentary days. He was once a NUGS president and had a three-year lead over me. I also later became the NUGS president, creating a strong bond between us. Despite his efforts to bring me into the NDC, my family’s political roots are with the UP (United Party), and I have deep respect for the NDC,” he explained during an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen.

Despite Haruna Iddrisu’s attempts, Annoh-Dompreh, who is currently seeking a fourth term in office, remained steadfastly loyal to his political upbringing.

In his perspective, he emphasized that his colleagues have played a pivotal role in shaping his political journey.

95% of NPP MPs support Bawumia – Annoh-Dompreh http://34.58.148.58/95-of-npp-mps-support-bawumia-annoh-dompreh/ Fri, 03 Nov 2023 07:33:49 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2313894 The Majority Chief Whip in Parliament, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has said that 95 percent of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament support for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming presidential election.

Over 200,000 delegates from across the country are expected to participate in the elections scheduled for Saturday, November 4, 2023.

The exercise, which will elect a flagbearer to represent the party in the 2024 general elections, will take place in every constituency across all 16 regions of the country.

While expressing optimism about the victory of Dr. Bawumia as the flagbearer of the NPP in an interview, the legislator said: “We know it is a foregone decision, Dr Bawumia is going to win hands down. It used to be around 80 percent. Now it’s moved higher. We are now doing like 95 percent of MPs who clearly believe that we should rally behind the Vice President. We are now hovering around 95 percent. It will even get better on the D-Day, and I think it’s looking extremely good. Our focus now is to ensure that after Saturday, we progress into a united front,” the Nsawam Adoagyiri MP said.

The NPP is gearing up for its presidential primaries on Saturday, November 4.

The four aspirants contesting the flagbearer position have signed an undertaking not to resign from the party if any of them loses the primary on Saturday.

The decision was reached at a meeting between the National Council of Elders and the aspirants.

Dr. Bawumia is the frontrunner in the race, but he faces stiff competition from Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong.

A recent poll by the Institute of Research, Innovation & Development at Kumasi Technical University found that Bawumia stands a greater chance of winning the upcoming NPP flagbearer race, as he will most likely secure an overwhelming victory in eight regions.

The poll found that 71.1% of NPP delegates believe Bawumia has a higher chance of breaking the eight-year cycle, while 26.8% of them stated that Kennedy Agyapong stands a better chance.

The other two contestants include the former Agriculture Minister, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and former MP for Mampong, Francis Addai-Nimoh.

Parliament can’t wait for you – Annoh-Dompreh tells Minority http://34.58.148.58/parliament-cant-wait-for-you-annoh-dompreh-tells-minority/ Wed, 19 Jul 2023 07:09:42 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2274223 The Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh Dompreh, has expressed dissatisfaction with the Minority in Parliament’s continuous boycott of parliamentary duties.

According to him, government business is suffering and the House cannot continue to wait for the Minority.

The Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP made these remarks on Tuesday when the caucus for the fourth time abstained from their constitutional duty to accompany Assin North MP, James Gyakye Quayson to court.

The MP on July 4, 2023, after the Minority declared their intention stated that it is a disgraceful posture for lawmakers to shirk their responsibilities in the House.

The Majority Chief Whip emphasised that regardless of the Minority’s decision to boycott Parliament on the trial days, the business of government would proceed as usual.

However, the House on three occasions had to adjourn sitting due to the Minority’s absence which affected the numbers for parliamentary business.

But on Tuesday, the Majority decided to proceed with the day’s business despite the absence of the Minority.

Although the House fell short of considering much weightier business-like bills, it was a significant turn from the past when it just adjourned the House whenever the NDC group abstained from sitting.

Take your chief whip, my support for Bawumia will not change – Annoh-Dompreh to NPP http://34.58.148.58/take-your-chief-whip-my-support-for-bawumia-will-not-change-annoh-dompreh-to-npp/ Wed, 21 Jun 2023 11:29:03 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2262788 The Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has boldly stated that his support for Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primary will not waver, challenging the National Council of the party to strip him of his title if they deem his endorsement inappropriate for his position.

Ghana goes to the polls in 2024 to elect a new president.

Despite the NPP’s guidelines directing members to refrain from openly endorsing any flagbearer aspirants, Mr Annoh-Dompreh believes in Dr Bawumia’s competence as a key factor in his endorsement.

The Majority Chief Whip believes that Dr Bawumia’s competence is evident, as he has the ability to counter the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) support in the Zongo communities and strengthen the party’s backing in the northern regions.

Mr Annoh-Dompreh remains resolute, asserting that his support for Bawumia will persist, even if others claim he is no longer aligned with the NPP.

Mr Annoh-Dompreh confidently states that Dr Bawumia is the only candidate capable of defeating John Dramani Mahama in the northern regions.

He, thus, does not shy away from revealing that out of the 138 Members of Parliament (MPs) on the majority side, 120 are in support of Dr Bawumia’s candidacy.

During an interview on Accra FM on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, Mr Annoh-Dompreh, who represents the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Constituency in the Eastern Region, openly challenged the National Council of the party.

This took place following the grounding-breaking ceremony for the construction of a modern toilet facility for students of Old Tieku M. A. Basic School in the Nsawam Municipality on Monday, June 19, 2023.

Mr Annoh-Dompreh also highlighted the historical significance of the NPP, being founded by S.D. Dombo, and asserted that Dr Bawumia represents the Dombo tradition within the party.

Also, Mr Annoh-Dompreh suggested that it is time for the NPP to demonstrate its departure from being perceived as an Akan-centric party by having Dr Bawumia as its leader.

Frank Annoh-Dompreh said the Police failed in executing its basic mandate.

The Nsawam Adoagyiri lawmaker, thus, wants the Police Administration to do more in training its personnel on crowd management.

“Just as we love and respect the Police to deal with such matters and particularly ensuring public orderliness, the Police should up their professional antics and tactics in the handling of such ‘infantile’ challenges…,” he said in a tweet on Monday, June 13.

Meanwhile, the Police have admitted that its personnel could have handled the riot better.

Annoh-Dompreh holds peace talk with NPP executives http://34.58.148.58/annoh-dompreh-holds-peace-talk-with-npp-executives/ Tue, 08 Mar 2022 11:29:27 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2088447 Member of Parliament for Nsawam/Adoagyiri in the Eastern Region, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has called on the rank and file of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) members in his constituency to channel their energies towards promoting the party’s peace and unity and for them to bury their differences to be able to break the eight years jinx rule.

Speaking at Peace talks Get-Together meeting held at his residence at Doboro, with the constituency executives and the Municipal Chief Executive of the area, Isaac Buabeng, the Majority Chief Whip called on them to bury their differences and work together to develop the party.

The MP, who is eager to ensure total peace in the ruling political party in the constituency, urged them to unite and work hard to retain the party in power come 2024.
He also declared to give his full support and work with the MCE to speed up development in the constituency and be able to gather more votes for the party.

Frank Annoh-Dompreh, however, entreated the general public to support the NPP to break the eight years agenda since the opposition NDC are the brainwashers who are set to abrogate every NPP flagship programme initiated by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as they cancelled Teachers, Nurses allowances and Health Insurance Scheme.

The Deputy Majority Chief Whip and MP for Ayawaso Wuogun West, Lydia Alhassan Eyram, who joined the peace talks, urged the party executives to unite and rally behind the NPP government since they are working assiduously to accelerate socio-economic development across the country.

She was however optimistic that the restoration of peace in the Constituency will boost the party’s chances in 2024.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Isaac Buabeng also promised his support for the MP, adding that unity is only one thing that will lead the party to climb the ladder to break the eight years jinx.

However, he urged the supporters to refrain from divisive tendencies and forge together for peace and unity to ensure rapid development.

Motion for probe into Mills’ death won’t go beyond Speaker’s office – Asiedu Nketia http://34.58.148.58/motion-for-probe-into-mills-death-wont-go-beyond-speakers-office-asiedu-nketia/ Sat, 19 Feb 2022 10:29:12 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2081970

General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has said calls for probe into late former President Mills’ death is a total waste of resources of Parliament.

According to him, there is nothing mysterious about the death of the former President for a bi-partisan investigations.

Four New Patriotic Party (NPP) members of Parliament, led by Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, have filed a Private Member’s motion calling for a bi-partisan investigation into the death of the late President’s death.

The group wants Parliament to constitute a committee “to unravel the unending mystery surrounding the death of late President Mills which sad event occurred on July 24, 2012.”

This has generated a lot of controversial comments with members of both NDC and NPP splitting heads.

While the NDC argues that it is a ploy by government to divert attention, the NPP maintained that, the probe will bring closure to the circumstances surrounding the death of the former President.

Reacting to this on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Friday, Mr Nketia said the MPs are just being disingenuous.

He explained that, the cause of death of the late Mills is public record, thus, the probe is an exercise in futility.

The NDC scribe, popularly known as General Mosquito, stated unequivocally that, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin will ignore it.

This, he said, is because the motion does not meet the criteria for the motion of a bi-partisan committee in Parliament.

“What is the mystery they are trying to unravel? Matters like this may not go beyond the Speaker’s office. We don’t use lies and speculation to conduct business in Parliament,” he stressed.

The NDC General Secretary is convinced the supposed probe is an attempt to divert attention of the nation away from burning issues on national agenda.

General Mosquito added that until they give further and better particulars on the mystery they are talking about, the motion will not be approved.

Ruling in Assin North case vindicates NPP’s position – Annoh-Dompreh http://34.58.148.58/ruling-in-assin-north-case-vindicates-npps-position-annoh-dompreh/ Wed, 28 Jul 2021 18:58:37 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1993565 Majority Chief Whip in Parliament, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has said that the court ruling in the dual citizenship case, involving the Assin North Member of Parliament (MP), vindicates the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) position since 7th January, this year.

According to him, the party has held the position that Joe Gyakye Quayson was not validly elected and questioned his presence in Parliament. They also had issues with the decision of the Minority to support Mr Quayson to partake in decision-making in the House.

“So, today we have been vindicated because from day one, we had made our point abundantly clear, that the member was invalidly elected and lo and behold, a court has come to make a ruling.

“Even before we were sworn in to be part of the 8th Parliament, we as members of the Majority had raised issues of eligibility, related to the Assin North Member of Parliament elect then,” Mr Annoh-Dompreh told the media at a press conference held in Parliament, Wednesday.

On Wednesday, a Cape Coast High Court cancelled the parliamentary results for the Assin North constituency in the 2020 Parliamentary Elections in the constituency.

The Court, presided over by Justice Kwasi Boakye, ordered for fresh elections to be conducted in the constituency.

The case of the petitioner was that the MP at the time of filing to contest the 2020 Parliamentary Elections, had not renounced his Canadian citizenship and thus held dual nationality.

He further avers that at the close of nominations on the 9th of October, the Assin MP had not still renounced his Canadian nationality.

He said Mr Quayson, who still holds himself as the MP, is in complete violation of Article 94 (2a) and the court should declare his election null and void.
