The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially endorsed Andrew Amoako Asiamah, the 2nd Deputy Speaker of Parliament, as its parliamentary candidate for Fomena in the 2024 elections.
The decision was unanimously made during the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.

During the announcement to the leadership of the Fomena Constituency on Thursday, NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, praised Asiamah for his unwavering support.

Currently an independent Member of Parliament for Fomena, Asiamah’s dedication to the party, according to Chairman Wontumi, has significantly bolstered the NPP’s image in Parliament.

Chairman Wontumi expressed strong confidence that Asiamah’s candidacy would secure the Fomena seat for the NPP.

He described Asiamah’s return to the party as a symbolic victory, not only for the constituency but also for the NPP’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

In his response, Asiamah expressed deep affection for the NPP, saying he had missed everything about the party that holds a special place in his heart.

He pledged to lead the party to an overwhelming electoral victory for Dr. Bawumia and himself in Fomena, urging all members to move past any differences and unite for the greater good of the NPP.

Mr. Asiamah also highlighted the importance of campaigning on the numerous ongoing projects in the constituency, particularly by Assembly members, to attract more votes for the party.

Chairman Wontumi’s visit to the Fomena constituency included stops in several communities such as Adokwai, Dompoase, and Old Edubiase, where he engaged with locals on the importance of retaining the NPP in power in the upcoming December 7 elections.

Full Report: Car ‘cocaine’ theft [Video] http://34.58.148.58/full-report-car-cocaine-theft-video/ Wed, 28 Sep 2022 14:34:37 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2166919 It is the rush hours of the day; and, as expected, many vehicles are fighting for space to make it home in time. Amidst the chaotic scenes on Ghana’s busy roads is often the unpleasant smell of thick smoke from hundreds of unserviceable vehicles.

So disgusting can this be that it can lead to instant coughing, aside from the many health hazards of the smoke. But why is there so much smoke in town?

Smoke from car

Adom News’ Gershon Mortey delved deeper and uncovered a very worrying development of rampant stealing of the converters of vehicles of unsuspecting car owners, a major cause of the offensive car smoking.

The stealing of exhaust converters (which are also called catalytic converters) from cars is gaining increasing popularity among criminals – not just in Ghana – but, globally.

Those at major risk are car owners who take their cars to mechanic shops and business people who own car rental companies.

Some mechanics even target cars that are parked at hide-out spots, where they jack the vehicle up and cut off the converter, even in broad daylight.

These criminals have people they supply these metals to for instant rewards, according to Adom News’ investigations.

What is a converter?
An exhaust or catalytic converter is a device in a vehicle’s exhaust system that changes toxic pollutants into less harmful gases before they are expelled from the automobile.

It is sought after largely due to the climbing prices of the precious metals such as platinum, palladium and rhodium found inside them.

A converter Photo credit: Reuters

The precious metals within catalytic converters are relatively easy to steal by a determined criminal. All they have to do is crawl under the car or, if it’s too low, use a jack to raise it. Then, a saw, electric or manual, can be used to cut the converter from below the vehicle.

The criminals take the converter to a third party, who is then able, through their various connections, to transfer that to a legal recycler, who then gives them the cash for the actual converter itself.

Canada
This crime is worldwide. In Canada, for example, police said converter thefts rose from 300 reported incidents in 2020 to 1,014 in just the first eight months of 2021 in the city of Calgary alone.

In a related development, a new craze for a drug derived from crushed vehicle exhaust filters is battling authorities in Congo. It has further triggered a campaign to exterminate the drug and a related rash of car part thefts.

In September 2021, per a report by Reuters, police rounded up and paraded nearly 100 alleged dealers and users of the drug “bombe”, which means powerful in the local Lingala language, following a call to action by Democratic Republic of Congo’s President Felix Tshisekedi.

Young men seeking to get high blend the crushed exhaust filters with a couple of crushed pills – using the back of a spoon, before snorting the “bombe” mixture.

Within minutes, they sway slowly, scratching themselves in an unresponsive state that experts in Congo say can cause users to stand motionless for hours, or even sleep for days.

Syndicate in Ghana

With this statistic in mind, Adom News decided to find out if the theft is booming in the black market of Ghana too; and, the result was alarming!

The visit started at Baa Yard, a popular area off the Awoshie N1 stretch. There, the investigative Crew learned of a hideout built by mechanics who had specialised in cutting off the converters in minutes.

A converter being removed

This place is more of a third-party source because they also have to take the converters to a middle party before the end-off buyer.

The team then chanced on another hardcore zone at Abossey Okai in the Greater Accra Region. Here, they cut the whole exhaust system and take out the converter before they replace it with a fake converter so the owner of the car won’t notice the theft early. This makes it difficult to know right on when the car returns to the owner.

Here young men cut the whole exhaust system and take out the converter before they replace it with a fake converter so the owner of the car won’t notice the theft early. This makes it difficult to know right on when the car returns to the owner

On the second visit to Abossey Okai, the Team found a dealer who had specialised in buying and selling converters.

To be sure he was into the business, the Team decided to purchase one from him: the price was GHC 900.00! Later, it was realised it wasn’t an original piece that is why the price was reduced for purchase.

At the same Abossey Okai, there is a car exhaust dealer, who is genuinely into the car exhaust business. This person sells to those who have lost theirs to criminals. Luck would run out for him, however, when the Team spoke to him on the black market happening on the ground. He unwittingly gave out ways and means to get converters out without car owners’ notice.

Nat, a converter repairer

At Darkuman, some of the sellers, often Nigerians, roam on motorbikes to deal with some mechanics around the area popularly called Cable.

Cars and estimated prices of their converters
After numerous rounds, the investigative crew researched on the prices of popular cars that are usually targeted:
Daewoo Matiz converters go for GH 2,500.

Hyundai Elantra converters sell for around GH¢ 2,500 to GH¢ 3,500.

Converters of Toyota saloon cars sell for around GH¢ 2,000 to GH¢ 4,000; sales largely depend on the year of production of the cars. Price increases when the car’s manufacturing date is current.

However, since it’s well-known that most cars have catalytic converters, it makes every car a potential target. Owners of four-wheel drives (Land Cruisers, Jeeps etc.) and super fancy cars such as (Mercedes Benz, Range Rovers etc.) aren’t exempted from becoming victims.

Kokomlemle, ATTC

At the ATTC section of Accra’s Kokomlemle suburb, there are some dealers known to buy from first-hand sellers. Adom News decided to sell one ‘fake’ converter to them and they detected it right away. Surprisingly, they still offered to buy the converter – albeit, at a price lower than what a genuine converter sells for.

The kingpin

After the observations, it was realised that there is a Nigerian guru who is the mastermind and stronger middleman who supplies the main end-off buyer, who is alleged to be a Caucasian.

They work together; and all the dealers at Abossey Okai, Baah Yard, Darkuman, Kokomlemle, and even those in other regions sell to this Nigerian man, who in turn sells to this Caucasian.

The converters are transported through Aflao to Togo.

He explained that recent untimely deaths of his members were avoidable after series of investigations revealed that most of the alcoholic beverages in the market contributed immensely to the high death rate of his members.

He said the consumption of alcohol by its members has played a significant role “in our country’s economy and it has created thousands of job opportunities for most of the youth so these two institutions must make sure that whatever alcoholic beverage that comes to the market is well vetted before they approve it.”

“We are telling FDA and Ghana Standards Authority to make sure that every alcoholic beverage that comes to the market passes through the due process before approval and if they fail to do that, we will hit the streets to register our displeasure and discontent,” he told DJ Active on Active TV in an interview.

The tribe in Nigeria where women wear leaves instead of clothes out of fear [Photos] http://34.58.148.58/the-tribe-in-nigeria-where-women-wear-leaves-instead-of-clothes-out-of-fear-photos/ Tue, 28 Sep 2021 13:12:34 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2020907 In Adamawa State there is a particular tribe identified as the Koma tribe. They are part of the seven districts of Ganye Local Government area.

The people of Koma are in the Atlantika mountains and they also share a border with southern Cameroon. It was in the year 1961 that the Koma people were fully recognised and accepted as Nigerians.

This ethnic group, known as Koma, comprises people who dwell in the primitive era.

You would find up to 21 villages where the Koma people live in Cameroon and there are also up to 17 of their villages in Nigeria.

Just like any other ethnic group the Koma People have their own special language they speak, the language is identified as Koma language.

The language belongs to the Niger-Congo language group.

Unlike other tribes that have moved past the prehistoric era, the people of Koma still live their lives like the olden days.

They cherish their traditions so much and still practice them today. The people of Koma don’t even wear clothes like the rest of us, the men put on loincloths while the women use fresh leaves to make clothes. The men are ready to wear clothes, unlike the women who prefer leaves.

The reason why the women avoid putting on clothes is because they believe that if they do, they would make the gods angry and he would visit them with death and barrenness.

Even when going to the market these women prefer to put on wrappers over their leaves, they would then remove the wrapper once they go back to the hill.

The people of Koma have quite a lot of strange traditions, especially when they accept you as their friends.

The men have the right to share their own wives with their friends and even with their visitors.

Just like how other people welcome their visitors with Kolanuts, the Koma men welcome theirs with their wives.

One other strange belief the Koma people have is the belief that twins are evil. They see any twin birth as being evil, because of that the twins are seen as an abomination.

Before the twin babies were buried alive alongside their mothers. Such practice doesn’t really exist amongst them anymore due to civilisation.

The people of Koma belong to those rare tribes in Nigeria that are yet to embrace civilisation. They enjoy living in the old ways and they have no issues with that.

Ghanaians have since been asking the government to construct first-class roads in every suburb so transportation could become easy for businesses.

Meanwhile, the government, in response, has also urged citizens to pay their taxes if they want better amenities that would project development.

Meanwhile, the road leading to the GRA tax office at North Industrial Area has been deplorable to the extent that citizens say it doesn’t motivate them to pay their tax.

It’s unclear if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is behind the shirts but it is quite obvious the decision sprung up after Mr Mahama’s assertion.

Earlier, speaking on a Techiman-based radio station, Akina FM, Mr Mahama stated that the 2020 elections showed the NDC that elections can only be won at the polling stations, thus, they will not let their guards down.

“So at the polling station, it will be ‘do or die’. I am not saying all die be die. I’m saying it will be ‘do or die’ because the right thing must be done.

“We will do everything to ensure that the election is free and fair. We will not cheat the New Patriotic Party and we don’t expect anyone to cheat us either, let the elections be peaceful and fair,” he added.

9 real reasons why women moan and make sounds during s3x http://34.58.148.58/9-real-reasons-why-women-moan-and-make-sounds-during-s3x/ Wed, 25 Aug 2021 13:28:53 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2005597 Women make noise, even when they are having sex, some women may also shout and scream in bed. And if you recollect your memories of any lovemaking scene from the movies, you will have the woman moan over and over again as the scene gets hotter. So, what makes women moan during sex?

1. Women moan out of pleasure

For women, intimacy and moaning go hand in hand. Just as you sigh at the sight of warmed up food on the table when you are hungry or a soft bed awaiting you after an exhausting day, moaning is a natural response to pleasure that a woman gets during sex.

As she gets to climax and feels pleasure, she moans involuntarily in ecstasy.

ALSO READ: If you can, don’t bring family into your marital home

2. Moaning can turn him on instantly

Men are turned on by the sounds their women make. If a man is taking time for the act and is not getting into the mood, a woman may moan just to get him there. This especially helps when a man is not in the mood for sex, but the woman wants it.

3. As an involuntary response to pain

At times when he is taking things rough and causing discomfort or pain down there, moaning can come in handy. A moan with a painful sound can give him the message that he is creating the woman discomfort, and he may become slow and careful.

But there is no reason why a woman should continue to endure pain during sex. After all, the act is all about experience pleasure and not pain (unless that’s your jam). More often than not, pain during intercourse is caused by a lack of lubrication. This problem can be solved by simply keeping a bottle of lube handy.

ALSO READ: If you want to make a girl develop an interest in…

4. To get things done quickly

Not in the mood today, but your man wants sex? Then moan! Moaning excites men and makes them experience orgasm early on. Some women also cry if the sex is getting too exhausting and they want to end it soon. They complain to arouse their men and get things done quickly.

Many women have used crying to get sex done promptly with, and it is all fine until the man knows you are faking it. That could be quite painful and pinches men sharply.

5. To slow things down

When a man hears soft moans of pleasure, he gets an idea that the woman is enjoying what he is doing. The sounds of your moans give him to make him interpret that you need more time in bed and he needs not hurry. This helps women extend the act longer if they anticipate the man is going to have an orgasm soon.

It is the tone of the moans that set the rhythm of sex. If a man can correctly read through the sounds a woman makes, the couple can have better and enjoyable sex.

6. To turn off their brain and focus on sex

ALSO READ: Mum and newborn released from hospital detention after Corruption Watch exposé

Women have hectic lives, and sometimes they are just not turned on for sex. With a thousand different things running in their minds, it may be hard for some women to focus on what is happening now. With a grocery list running on your account or a presentation layout taking shape, it can be impossible to enjoy the pleasure of being laid.

Moaning helps them get their brain where their bodies are.

7. To change the rhythm of sex

Like what your man is doing? Moan softly.

Don’t like what he is doing down there? Moan hard.

That’s it. Moaning helps women change the rhythm in bed. If you moan softly at something he is doing, your man will continue it because he knows you like it. Similarly, he will also get the idea of something you are not enjoying when you moan painfully. As simple as that!

8. Silent sex? Arghh!

What would sex be like if no one was making any sound? Since women are more expressive then men, they have taken the lead on this one, too. Their moans and sounds and screams make sex more enjoyable for both the partners involved. Silently getting to climax would be such a mood killer! When a woman moans in pleasure, there can be nothing better than that.

Can’t get your woman to moan? Is the silent sex routine dampening your experience in the bedroom? One of the reasons why a woman may not be letting out those soft moans or loud screams during sex is because her partner isn’t able to pleasure her the right way.

ALSO READ: 5 reasons women find it hard to experience orgasm

In that case, sex toys such as vibrators or ring for clitoris stimulation can really help you shift gears and heighten the pleasure of the act. If she is truly experiencing the zeniths of sexual pleasures, there is no way she’ll be able to keep at that ecstatic energy in.

9. To please their men

Women also moan to make their men feel happy and pleased. A man feels masculine and strong when he can get his woman to feel pleasure under his embrace. Soft moans of pleasure give him the idea that the woman is enjoying what he is doing and that pleases him greatly.

Sex becomes more exhilarating for men when their women moan with pleasure. Moaning is considered to be a sign of good sex, but do not confuse the painful sounds of your woman as signs of happiness.

The top 6 sensitive parts of a woman http://34.58.148.58/the-top-6-sensitive-parts-of-a-woman/ Wed, 18 Aug 2021 17:10:27 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2002517 Your skin is the largest organ in your body and nerve endings are spread all over it. Some areas have more of them and some have less, this is what makes some parts of your body more sensitive than others.

Here, a list of erogenous zones that can get your partner and you all sorts of turned on each and every day.

1. The Nape of The Neck

Though some people might get all Marie Antoinette about having their neck touched, neck kisses are almost always a turn on, according to source.

In fact, women ranked the nape of the neck above the breasts and nipples as an erogenous zone, according to a study published in the journal Cortex. If you combine the lips with the neck, it is quite a turn on.

ALSO READ: If a woman truly loves you, she will easily do these…

2. The Scalp

As anyone who has had a salon styling session knows, having someone touch your hair and scalp can be incredibly soothing. It can also be arousing, says Vrangalova. Play with your partner’s hair, massage his or her scalp.

Run your fingernails across it. See how your partner reacts.

3. Behind the Knee

Why is the soft spot behind the knee erogenous? It is another nerve-rich area where we are not often touched. It is a novelty because it is not where our friends or colleagues are touching us. Touching the back of the knees and leading up to the thighs is intimate and it gets you closer to the main attraction.

Try gently touching your partner behind the knees while he or she stands in front of you. Or massage them there, alternating between deep pressure and a tickle.

The sexiest part of the ear is the lobe, says McCombs. That gesture where you are tucking the hair behind the ear feels quite intimate.

To make the most of the ears’ erotic potential, McCombs suggests sensually tickling the edge of your partner’s ear with your finger.

5. Lips

The lips are an extremely sensitive part of your body. They are 100 times more sensitive than your fingertips. But it is not just about kissing.

No, the slightest brush of the lips can also help. You can even use your thumb to do this. Since it is the most exposed and easy-to-access erogenous zone, you can take many more opportunities to experiment with it.

6. Mons pubis

The mons pubis is the triangular area just above the labia and below your lower abdomen. It is likely to get ignored since it is pretty close to the vulva but it is pretty sensitive by itself.

See what happens to your brain when you listen to music http://34.58.148.58/see-what-happens-to-your-brain-when-you-listen-to-music/ Tue, 17 Aug 2021 17:28:43 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2002072 Your entire brain is used when you listen to music. It’s one of the few activities that do this.

Music has a way of enlightening the human brain.

Our brains have a negativity bias and will remember negative memories more than good ones. This helps us to better protect ourselves.

Convincing your brain that you slept well scams your brain into thinking it really did.

Learning new things changes your brain and increases your intelligence even if you’re older.

Your brain does more creative work when you’re tired.

Our brain responds differently to people we know. Our brain usually likes responding to people who have similar tastes and preferences and more to people we already know.

Ambidextrous and left-handed people have a corpus callosum (the part of the brain that bridges the two halves) that is 11% larger than those who are right-handed.

It takes five different parts of your brain for you to understand and laugh at a joke.

You get a song stuck in your head because your brain interprets the song as an unfinished task, especially if you only remember one part.

“I met the beautiful lady at Soi market when I was going back to where I work as shamba boy and talked about love. She agreed to be my girlfriend, so I requested her to accompany me to my residence, and she agreed.

“Everything was okay until when we entered my bedroom. The lady suddenly turned into a big goat with long horns made of the bottles of soda that we had just drunk.”

Girls easily develop feelings for guys who do these 3 things to impress them http://34.58.148.58/girls-easily-develop-feelings-for-guys-who-do-these-3-things-to-impress-them/ Mon, 16 Aug 2021 22:36:30 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2001665 You must share something in common with a girl in order for her to consider you on a deeper level. Any of the following guidelines will be incredibly helpful in getting a girl to develop feelings for you.

(1) Take her out: Ask her about her favourite dinners, and then take her to any of the restaurants that serve such meals (her favourite meals). When the time is right, you’ll be able to ask her out on a real date after knowing that she enjoys spending time with you. While you have succeeded in taking her out on a date, be able to express yourself in a way that will make her feel comfortable around you.

ALSO READ: 7 deadly relationship sins

(2). Nothing shows how much you like a woman more than the things you do on purpose. Get her small gifts, shower her with care, get out with her friends, and spend time with her. Participate in activities that she enjoys. She will start enjoying your company and will always want to have you around, making her gradually fall in love with you.

(3) Being thoughtful. It implies that you actually care about her. To begin with, concentrate on making her feel important. If you do everything correctly, she may hardly reject you, because she has grown fond of you in the recent past. Do not give up hope while showing her care and love. She might grow fond of you in no time. The act of being close to someone creates feelings, and it is these feelings that can make her fall in love with you.

You will definitely make her fall in love with you if you show her care and love, but also kindly note that if your attitude isn’t friendly and appealing, you might not be able to win a woman’s heart. It’ll hurt your chances of doing so, because most women look at a man’s attitude at some time before saying ‘yes’ to him or accepting to go into a relationship with him. As a result, your attitude plays a strong role.

If a woman truly loves you, she will easily do these 12 things for you http://34.58.148.58/if-a-woman-truly-loves-you-she-will-easily-do-these-12-things-for-you/ Mon, 16 Aug 2021 20:35:13 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2001646 There are a few ways to figure out whether or not a woman is interested in you. There is, however, a distinction between how a woman acts when she likes you and when she loves you. A girl will do a few things for someone she truly loves, and these are a few of them.

1. She’ll be concerned about your well-being.

I understand that men are born protectors, that it is in their blood to protect the woman they love at all costs. That isn’t to argue that women and men aren’t equal when it comes to love. A lady will surely adore you, but she will also feel obligated to look after you.

2. You will be easily forgiven by her.

She can forgive you for things she probably shouldn’t and wouldn’t forgive anyone else for. The reason is simple: this woman considers you to be a more important man than you are.

3. She’ll be curious to learn more about you. If a lady is deeply attracted to you, she will want to learn everything she can about you.

4. A lady who adores you will give you her undivided attention.

She’ll pay attention to what you’re saying, communicate with you, ask questions, and provide solutions to problems. You get the sensation that she hears everything you don’t say.

5. When a woman loves you, she shows it by treating you with respect.

She’ll touch you gently, kiss you sweetly, and embrace you tightly. When she’s with you, it’s all about the energy she gives off.

6. A girl who loves you values you.

A girl that adores you will value and respect you.

7. Women in love are givers who care deeply about your objectives. It’s one of the most common ways to figure out whether she’s in love with you. Whether it’s her time, attention, care, food, or love, she’ll have to lavish something on you. It’s one of the many indicators that she’s head over heels in love with you.

The ratio of the attention she devotes to other people to the attention she devotes to you is a good indicator of which of you is unique. You might be onto a woman who honestly, unquestionably loves you if she does more of these things for you than she does for others.

8. She gives you a lot of smiles. A woman in love with a man may laugh frequently or, at the absolute least, grin frequently in his presence. A man might utilize the excitement on her face as one of the nice signals to assess whether or not a woman is madly in love with him.

9. She’ll devote more time to you.

ALSO READ: Let her reach orgasm and you’ll know every woman loves s3x…

10. You have a lot of power over her. Your girlfriend or husband has strong feelings for you if she appears to respond to your gestures and is emotionally dedicated to you.

11. You’ve found the right person if she puts you first regularly, doesn’t keep you away from her friends and shares her passions with you. Keep an eye out for this signal, since it will tell you how much she adores you.

12. She has trouble controlling her emotions. As a result, she’ll begin to show signs of a small-scale emotional infatuation, to be with you.

He also revealed that he liked Arin but never gave it a chance because of her behaviour in the house.

“You know I kissed Arin in this house after Jaccuzi party, it was passionate. Liquorose knew about this because I tell her things the boys don’t even know.

“I liked her and we even called ourselves names, she called me ‘Mad man’, likewise I called her ‘Mad woman’, but I just didn’t give it a chance because of how I want to be in the house.

“I don’t want to have anything serious yet because of how quick things change in this house,” Boma said.

Boma, since entering the house, has been close to Jackie B, Queen and Arin.

He has mentioned that he can be emotionally attached easily and lose focus in the game, the reason he does not want any relationship in the house yet.

The BBNaija housemate warned Queen on Saturday night to stop caging him, clarifying that he’s not in any relationship with her.

This was after Queen refused to dance with any female housemate during the Saturday night party.

He famously joked in one of his funny interviews that as a father and a boxer, he would never allow his son to become a boxer like him since “every boxer is a mentally damaged person.”

After saying these some years ago, it appears that the Africa Mayweather has changed his mind and has turned back on his words as he fights his son in a new video.

A video of Bukom Banku and his son, whose identity is unknown, has gone viral on the internet.

Bukom can be seen in the video fighting with his son as though they were in a ring.

The footage was taken in front of a pharmacy in Bukom, the boxer’s present residence.

As the struggle progressed, a large number of people who were unable to contain their gaze emerged from their various homes to witness the bizarre scenario perpetrated on the street by Bukom and his kid.

Man Utd’s Van de Beek out of Euro 2020 http://34.58.148.58/man-utds-van-de-beek-out-of-euro-2020/ Tue, 08 Jun 2021 22:21:54 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1970992 Netherlands and Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has been ruled out of this summer’s European Championships due to injury.

Frank de Boer, the head coach, will not be calling up a replacement for the tournament, which starts for the Netherlands on Sunday against Ukraine.

The Netherlands broke the news on Tuesday morning in a post on Twitter, which read: “Van de Beek has to let the European Championship pass by. The midfielder is struggling with an injury.

“As a result, he is not available in time for EURO 2020. Frank de Boer will not call a replacement for Van de Beek.”

Van de Beek, who was signed by United from Ajax last summer for an initial fee in the region of £35m, made just four Premier League starts in a frustrating first season in England.

His United teammate Marcus Rashford shared a message of support for Van de Beek on Tuesday.

The England forward’s tweet read: “Sorry mate, take some time for yourself and keep your head high.”

The Euro 2020 will be aired on all Multimedia radio and television platforms.

Euro 2020: England announces 26-man squad http://34.58.148.58/euro-2020-england-announces-26-man-squad/ Wed, 02 Jun 2021 10:37:46 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1967975 Gareth Southgate has finalised his England squad for the rescheduled Euro 2020 tournament this summer.

The Three Lions boss initially named a provisional squad of 33 but whittled the group down to the 26 permitted by today’s deadline with seven players missing out.

Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood withdrew from consideration earlier in the day with his club stating the 19-year-old was suffering from an ‘underlying injury’

The remaining six players left out were Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, Everton’s Ben Godfrey, West Ham’s Jesse Lingard, Ben White of Brighton, Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins.

Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold had been widely reported to also be missing the final cut, however, Southgate appears to have had a late change of heart with the right-back one of four players in his position included.

  • FULL SQUAD:

Goalkeepers: Dean Henderson (Manchester United), Sam Johnstone (West Brom), Jordan Pickford (Everton)

Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Ben Chilwell (Chelsea), Conor Coady (Wolves), Reece James (Chelsea), Harry Maguire (Manchester United), Tyrone Mings (Aston Villa), Luke Shaw (Manchester United), John Stones (Manchester City), Kieran Trippier (Atletico Madrid), Kyle Walker (Manchester City)

Midfielders: Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Mason Mount (Chelsea), Kalvin Phillips (Leeds), Declan Rice (West Ham)

Forwards: Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton), Phil Foden (Man City), Jack Grealish (Aston Villa), Harry Kane (Tottenham), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund), Raheem Sterling (Man City).

The 2020 Euros will be aired on all Multimedia radio and television channels.

Euros 2020: Mason Greenwood withdraws from England squad due to injury http://34.58.148.58/euros-2020-mason-greenwood-withdraws-from-england-squad-due-to-injury/ Tue, 01 Jun 2021 16:34:26 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1967482 Manchester United and England have confirmed that forward Mason Greenwood has withdrawn from the national squad due to “an underlying issue.”

Greenwood, 19, was part of Gareth Southgate’s preliminary 33-man squad that was due to be cut down today.

Now the United forward will spend the summer rehabilitating ahead of the new Premier League season.

His withdrawal opens the door for Ollie Watkins or Bukayo Saka, players who might have otherwise missed out.

Moments later there were widespread reports that West Ham forward Jesse Lingard will miss out.

Southgate is expected to announce the squad around 17:00 BST, a push back from the initial time of 15:00.

MANCHESTER UNITED’S STATEMENT IN FULL:

Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood has withdrawn from the provisional England Euro 2020 squad, in order to recover fully from an underlying injury that also kept him out of the Under-21 European Championship in March.

Mason’s club appearances were managed carefully to maintain his availability through the intensive 2020/21 Premier League and Europa League schedules.

But a further spell of tournament football would not be beneficial and Mason will remain at Manchester United to recuperate and prepare for pre-season training.

The Euro 2020 will be broadcasted on various Multimedia radio and television platforms.

Defenders Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Ben Godfrey (Everton) and Ben White (Brighton) have all been included in Southgate’s provisional squad.

Alexander-Arnold has been an irregular member of Southgate’s plans this season as his form suffered, while Godfrey and White are both uncapped at senior level.

Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has been called up from the U21s setup into the senior squad, while there are spots for Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood and Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka.

Nick Pope (Burnley), Eric Dier (Tottenham), Fikayo Tomori (AC Milan, on loan from Chelsea), Aaron Wan-Bissaka (Manchester United), James Maddison (Leicester), Danny Ings (Southampton) and Patrick Bamford (Leeds) all miss out.

England play warm-up friendlies against Austria on June 2 and Romania four days later, both at Wembley, ahead of their Group D opener against Croatia on June 13.

We need good lawyers, not lots of lawyers – Chief Justice hits back http://34.58.148.58/we-need-good-lawyers-not-lots-of-lawyers-chief-justice-hits-back/ Fri, 18 Oct 2019 06:42:53 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1713793 The Chief Justice has reiterated her stands on legal education in Ghana, JoyNews’ Maxwell Agbagba has reported.

According to Sophia Akuffo, it is better to have few qualified lawyers to many with compromised quality.

Speaking on the topic ‘Questing for Excellence’ at the 2019 University of Ghana Alumni Lectures, Justice Akuffo told the gathering “a good lawyer for each Ghanaian is what we deserve. Not lots of lawyers.

For emphasis, she added, “I will stand here again and say we need quality lawyers, not mass-produced lawyers.”

This was the third time ( in less than three months), the Chairman of the Ghana Legal Council, the body responsible for regulating the legal profession in the country, has expressed her convictions publicly on the vexed issue of legal education.

ALSO: Senior Minister replies Auditor General over $1m Kroll payment

The first was at the Bench, Bar and Faculty Conference at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra on July 2019.

There, she told lawyers and lecturers “who are busy advocating free scale, mass admissions into the professional law course, and mass production of lawyers, (to) be careful what they wish for.”

According to her “so long as (she) has anything to do with it (legal education), it won’t happen.”

“Just like you can’t mass produce doctors and surgeons, Ghanaians must not have mass-produced lawyers imposed on them,” the Chief Justice added.

To further drive home this point, on Friday, October 4, 2019, at a ceremony to enrol newly qualified lawyers into the Bar,  Madam Sophia Akuffo said although plans are far advanced for the commencement of the construction of a larger campus for the Ghana School of Law, it will not translate into mass admissions.

ALSO: Man jailed 10 years for stealing motorbike

“Plans have been made for the creation of new and other campuses away from the hustle and bustle of central Accra for which land was acquired some years ago. The plan for the execution of this project is expected to be captured in the 2020 budget which is being prepared now.

“But, however much available space is increased, the GLC [General Legal Council] will never relent on its commitment to assure us of the production of quality lawyers through the observation of highest standards,” she told the gathering.

The comments of the Chief Justice come on the back of mass failures recorded in this year’s Law School Entrance Examination.

Over 90 per cent of the students who sat for the examination failed.

Results showed that of the 1,820 candidates who sat for the entrance exams, only 128, representing a ten per cent pass.

The story is no different from failures recorded in the Ghana Bar exams a few months ago.

Again more than 90 per cent of the 727 students who wrote that exams failed, sparking agitation among the students.

A demonstration to protest the limited admissions and mass failures ended on a bloody note as police used rubber bullets to disperse them before they could present a petition to the president.

The National Association of Law Students followed this up with a press conference that called on the president, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, to make legal education more accessible by either repealing or amending the law governing it.

ALSO: DJ grabbed over defilement

“The reforms we are calling for can only happen when the President calls on the Attorney General and the Minister for Justice to present a Bill to Parliament to either amend or repeal Act 32 to give a new direction and an institutional framework to legal education in Ghana,” Mr Jonathan Alua, president of the association said.

But insisting on her stance, the Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo said on Thursday that the status quo may not change soon.

This time she used limited infrastructure and the questionable character of persons who apply to study law as justification.

“When the examinations started, even interviews, you would be amazed at some of the machinations that were discovered and reported, a number of impersonations were revealed,” she said.

“As a Muslim, if a calamity befalls you, you just thank Allah and pray for faith to meander through the storm and re-establish yourself,” he told some Muslim friends while they broke their fast on Sunday evening in Nima, a suburb of Accra when he held an Iftar.

The former CAF Vice President said he is looking to the Holy Quran for inspiration.

“I take consolation from the fact that our leader and prophet of God went through harsher conditions, and we saw the persecution and even when he had to live Mecca to Medina, he was crying because he had to relocate. But, he fought battles and that is how I see myself and so if a whole Prophet went through that, how about an ordinary person like me,” he stressed.

Kirk Franklin, Cece Winans, Israel Houghton, Hezekiah Walker and Brooklyn Tabernacle choir are a few of the endless list of international gospel music greats who have graced the Adom Praiz stage.

The annual concert is not complete without local maestros – like No Tribe, Cecilia Marfo, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, and Joe Mettle – who have over the years also thrilled the hundreds of thousands of patrons who enjoyed every bit of the concert.

Like a caring mother, who has her kids at heart, Adom FM will never leave you hanging. The station simply cares!

This year, another carefully selected army of gospel giants, have been lined up to also write their Adom Praiz story. They will etch their names in the concert’s history.

Leading the pack of impressive acts to this year’s mammoth concert is Nigerian gospel musician Steve Crown known for the smash hit single, ‘You are Great’.

He is the same man behind ‘Imela’, ‘We Wait on You’, ‘All the Glory’ and a host of other classic tunes.

Steve is not new to good music and come October 6 at the Perez Dome, Dzorwulu, there will be an outpouring of years of hard work and success on one stage – the Adom Praiz stage!

Also performing on the night is another Nigeria gospel great, Preye Odede, who hails from Isampou town In Ekeremor LGA all in Bayelsa State.

If you’ve heard ‘Ebezina’ you’ve found your man. With his powerful voice, he has inspired the world with other known tunes such as ‘No other God’, ‘Bulie’, ‘I Am Real’ and many others.

The 2017 Ghana Music Artiste of the Year, Joe Mettle is on the bill this year too! The record-setting talented gospel artiste – who is the first gospel artiste to win Artiste of the Year – never disappoint whenever he is called upon and October 6 won’t be an exception.

With a purely gifted powerful, smooth voice, the ‘Onwanwani’ hit singer is not new to the Adom Praiz stage. He performed at the 2014, 2015, 2016 editions and he keeps coming back!

He will be joined by Denzel Prempeh, Francis Adjei, Celestine Donkor and the Multimedia Choir to make the night a memorable one.

Like the organisers will say, “Adom Praiz 2017…it’s going to be an awesome encounter with God! Get ready to Praiz and Worship the Almigty God for his goodness…”

VIDEO+PHOTOS: 93 year group of St Johns School in Takoradi donates to orphans http://34.58.148.58/videophotos-93-year-group-st-johns-school-takoradi-donates-orphans/ Wed, 26 Apr 2017 08:56:40 +0000 http://ghana-news.adomonline.com/new/?p=93771 The 1993 year group of St Johns School in Sekondi-Takoradi have presented food items to the orphans of New Life Nungua Children Home International in Nungua, Accra.

The items include three gallons of 25 litters cooking oil, bags of sugar, boxes of Indomie, toiletries, boxes of tin tomatoes, bags of rice and other food items.

Leaders of the group, Kofi Namoah and Anthony leslie Mills, who presented the items on behalf of the members said the donation formed part of their contributions to ease some of the financial burden of the Home after fire destroyed properties in the foundation.

“We saw in the news that fire has gutted this place and we paid heed to that call to make the donation” one leader told Adomonline’s Gershon Mortey.

“This may not be the last time we are here and we hope to come over and over again. I will entreat the nation to support. These are future leaders. I have seen some awesome talents in them …” another colleague from the year group said.

However, director of the orphanage, Nii Afotey Botwe II  who received the items on behalf of the children thanked the group for their kind gesture.

“We thank you very much for choosing no other orphanage home than New Life Nungua Children Home. Anything that happens in life comes with a reason. It is never an accident.

“It is a great thing and if people think about us this way we become so happy. It is not easy to feed these children but with grace and hope from God he touches the heart of people to come and help us, we thank them very much…” he said.

Government to take deliberate steps to boost tourism http://34.58.148.58/government-take-deliberate-steps-boost-tourism/ Tue, 25 Apr 2017 07:19:19 +0000 http://ghana-news.adomonline.com/new/?p=91721 The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Samuel Osei-Mensah, has indicated a more aggressive push to boost tourism to substantially raise its contribution to the economy.

He said deliberate steps would be taken to develop tourist attraction sites to increase international and domestic arrivals.

Tourism is the nation’s fourth major foreign exchange earner and contributed about GH¢4.5 billion to the economy in year 2015.

Mr. Osei-Mensah, speaking at a day’s stakeholders’ seminar said there could be no doubt about the sector’s potential to create jobs and strengthen the economies of the local communities.

The programme was meant to build the capacity of operators in the hospitality industry.

It was organized by Nasoa Services Limited, an event organizing company, and brought together managers of travel and tour companies, car rentals, hotels and restaurants.

The Minister noted that about 90 per cent of tourist attraction sites was in the rural communities, where the roads were poor and lacked vital facilities and said these would need to be tackled.

He appealed to the tourism industry to develop clear cut policy on its budgetary allocation to develop these sites.

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mr. Ziblim Iddi, said they were eager to ensure that tourism became a major driver of the economy.

It was on the basis of this that the Ministry would go the extra mile to make sure that set standards were met by operators in the industry.

He spoke of plans to modernize the Esi Sutherland Children’s Park and upgrade facilities at the Mole Game Reserve and Paga Crocodile Pond.

Regional theatres would also be built in Kumasi, Cape Coast and Takoradi, he added.

Mr. Osei Assibey-Antwi, the Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, said the Ashanti Region had rich culture that could be well packaged and sold to the outside world.

He said the promotion of tourism should go hand-in-hand with the improvement of environmental sanitation.

Bribery scandal: Report won’t be objective – ACEPA http://34.58.148.58/bribery-scandal-report-wont-objective-acepa/ Fri, 24 Mar 2017 19:51:10 +0000 http://ghana-news.adomonline.com/new/?p=44521 The African Centre for Parliamentary Affairs (ACEPA) has cast doubt over the objectivity of the outcome of the Joe Ghartey Committee on allegations of bribery in parliament.

According to a senior associate of ACEPA, Tuinese Amuzu, questions that were posed to witnesses who appeared before the committee were too skewed in a certain way that did not tell the entire story of what transpired.

He said there is no expectation of any critical outcome from the committee’s report which is to be presented to Parliament next Wednesday.

Speaking at a multi-stakeholder forum on strengthening responsiveness to corruption-related incidents, Amuzu said “The posture of the committee is as a result of the kind of training that members of the committee had.So we are all brought up into a system that say, if you are coming into this committee there are rules by which you should come. We should be more interested in the substantive matter, and coming to the bottom of it.”

“We should be less technical and more inclusive and more interested in delving into the bottom of the matter so that we will not say, you have come to give testimony on a particular aspect of the matter and once you are done, that is it.”

Parliament earlier this year, set up a five-member committee to investigate corruption allegations level against members of the Appointments Committee.
It was alleged that some members of the minority on the committee, were given bribes allegedly from the minister of Energy, Boakye Agyarko to facilitate his approval after he appeared before the committee for vetting.

The committee eventually took testimonies from key persons mentioned in the scandal including Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu; Muntaka Mubarak, Member of Parliament for Asawase; Boakye Agyarko; Energy Minister; Mahama Ayariga, Member of Parliament for Bawku Central; and Joe Osei-Owusu, Member of Parliament for Bekwai, who also doubled as Chairman of the Appointments Committee.

But ACEPA said it does not expect any positive outcome from the committee’s report.

It had earlier said the delay in the release of the report could give room for speculations about the credibility of the report, adding that, the composition and posture of the committee already shows that the outcome will not incriminate any member of Parliament.
