Sharing a message in church, Adesua said though she knew Banky’s feelings were genuine, she had to friend-zone him because she was awaiting for a clear signal from God on whether he was her ‘Mr Right’ or not.

She said that friendship played a pivotal role in laying the foundation of their marriage, as she was able to access him, both positive and negative, without being swayed by emotions.

Adesua explained further that ,she was initially scared because her life was already chaotic as a public figure, and did not want to be involved with another celebrity who would double her troubles.

“I friend-zoned him for two reasons. One, I wasn’t sure that I had heard from God about whether this person was actually my person. Second, marrying Banky W. I was like, my life on my own is chaotic enough, I would now marry Banky? No, no, no,” she said amid laughter.

Another reason, she said, is to build the friendship she has with Banky, as she understands that naturally, love fades, but friendship remains the same, and that is what has kept them going for years.

“Banky W is my guy. I mean if you take away romance and sex and everything that makes a marriage, he would still be my guy. Banky is my best friend.”

The couple, who got married in a lavish ceremony on November 19, 2017, has faced rumors and challenges in their marriage, including false accusations of infidelity.

Despite these ups and downs, they have remained strong and are now parents to a son named Hazaiah.

There have been circulating rumours alleging that Banky W and his best friend, Niyola, are involved in a romantic relationship that has resulted in multiple abortions and a current pregnancy.

While both partners have not commented on the reports, their subsequent actions have suggested they are unperturbed by the ‘fake news’.

To further solidify their trust for each other, Adesua has dropped a positive comment on one of Niyola’s post, rubbishing any reports of bad blood between them.

Niyola shared a lovely video of herself singing a gospel song which Adesua replied that “Yes Lord. Nini. This voice. Always rooting for you.”

Banky W also dropped a brief reply, “Sinnnnnnng.”

The development has rekindled the seemingly fading controversy as the public have accused Adesua of covering up her husband’s shame.

However, Banky has responded that the backlash his family is facing is orchestrated by satanic elements determined to ruin his peace.

This is coming shortly after the mother-of-one was dragged for ‘haphazardly’ dressing to a wedding rocking cornrows.

Replying her critics, Adesua said she has always been a simple lady and feels more comfortable with the hairstyle. She also noted that ancient African women wore braids and were loved for it.

She said;

“I’ve been wearing cornrows a lot lately on purpose. I feel like my most authentic self when i wear braids, plaits or when I wear my hair out. If you’ve followed me closely, you’d know what I mean. You’d know this isn’t new.

In general, I believe in keeping it simple. Whether it’s from my clothes, to my hair, to my lifestyle. So I, Adesua Etomi-Wellington, am out here, holding it down for the simple girls. The ones who rock cornrows, the minimalists…

I hope you look at me and feel pride KNOWING that these rows our ancestors wore are still a thing to be proud of. I hope you see me and rocks yours with pride if you want to but above all, may you know that you are more than your hair no matter how you choose to wear it and more than your clothes, no matter what styles you choose to wear.

I do this for the girls deemed ‘too simple’. There is not a single thing wrong with simplicity. We may be ‘simple’ but there is not a single thing simple about us. Raise your glass if you are a SG.

The celebrity lovebirds, who have held forth their union after four years, have marked their conjugal blessing in style.

They have both taken to social media to rain accolades on each other, as they anticipate many more years to come.

Along with the photos, Banky W penned a poem for his wife, now mother of their son, Zaiah.

He wrote: “You’re my song, my rhymes, my heart, my light, my muse, my melody, my everything, my Wife. I’ll be writing about you for the rest of my life because you’re the best of my life – I love you now more than ever. I’ll love you 4ever. Happy Anniversary Shuga.”

On her part, Adesua pledged to always be by his side, adding that ” You will ALWAYS be my favourite part of me. Without you, I’d be living in black and white. Baby daddy, my Zaddy, you mean the world to me. Happy 4th Year Anniversary Bubba.”

The Wellingtons, who got married in November 2017, welcomed their son and first child four weeks ago.

However, they saved the childbirth announcement for madam Etomi’s birthday, today, February 22, 2021, for a joint celebration.

In a lengthy post eulogising his wife, Banky revealed how his wife means so much to her, tagging her as his love, world, lady, purpose partner and baby mama.

A piece of his love letter read: “Happy birthday to my lady, my love and Purpose Partner, My world, my wife and Baby Mama. I didn’t think it was possible for you to be more beautiful than you already were… but I was wrong. Because you’re not just beautiful, you’re strong. You’re grace and favour personified, and you’re so much more. Words cannot properly express how grateful I am for you, how much I love you, or what we’ve been through.”

The celebrity couple, who were devastated over an alleged miscarriage, are thankful God had exalted them in His own time.

“I’m thankful that you’re mine, and that God made everything beautiful in His time.
He turned our tears into triumph and our loss into laughter. He’s changed our lives forever, here’s to the next (and best) chapter. Nothing I can say or do can top what He gave us,” he said.
