The Krontihene of the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area, Obrempong Gyamfi Saforo Kyereh II, has issued a stern warning to the Member of Parliament for Akyem Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, urging him to stop undermining the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Solomon Kusi Brako.
Speaking at a press briefing in Akyem Oda, Obrempong Kyereh II accused the MP of making false allegations linking the MCE to illegal mining (galamsey) activities and called on parliamentary leaders to intervene.
“The MCE is working tirelessly to improve the lives of our people. Spreading falsehoods and engaging in unnecessary political conflicts only derail progress,” the Krontihene said. He emphasised that such unfounded accusations hinder the municipality’s development agenda.
He urged the MP to focus on his core parliamentary duties and collaborate with the MCE to advance the area’s growth instead of engaging in internal conflicts.
The remarks come amid rising tension between the MP and the MCE over development projects and governance issues in the municipality.
Meanwhile, Concerned Youth of Akyem Oda have expressed their support for the traditional leader, calling on the MP to refrain from undermining the MCE.
In a statement, the youth commended Mr Kusi Brako for spearheading development initiatives and appealed to President Mahama to disregard what they described as politically motivated efforts to discredit the MCE. They urged both leaders to set aside differences and work together for the continuous development of Akyem Oda.
