The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has held this year’s edition of the SSNITPosium as part of activities marking 60 years of social security in Ghana.

Addressing participants, the Director-General of SSNIT, Kwesi Afreh Biney, reaffirmed the Trust’s commitment to ensuring income security for all workers in the country.

“Every worker in Ghana needs and deserves income security during old age, and that is exactly what we are working to guarantee,” he said.

Mr. Afreh Biney also announced a new expansion initiative dubbed “SSNIT Inside Your Banking Hall,” aimed at making SSNIT services more accessible to the public.

Under this programme, SSNIT services will be available in 27 banks by the end of this year, with plans to establish an additional 100 touchpoints inside banking halls across the country next year.

He noted that SSNIT is leveraging technology to enhance service delivery and strengthen the sustainability of social protection for all Ghanaians.

“We are embracing technology not just to make things easier, but to ensure the sustainability and security of our pension system,” Mr. Afreh Biney emphasized.

The SSNITPosium brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from government, labour unions, and the private sector, to reflect on the Trust’s achievements and outline the next phase of social security in Ghana.
