The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has dismissed circulating social media claims suggesting that the Minister sponsored individuals with business class tickets to Germany for the Black Stars’ international friendly matches.
In a statement, the Ministry described the claims as false and baseless, urging the public to disregard the misleading narrative.
According to the Ministry, the individuals seen in the widely shared video are not known to the Minister, Kofi Adams, and were only briefly encountered at the airport departure area while boarding a flight.
The Ministry explained that the interaction was casual, noting that such encounters are common when public officials meet citizens in public spaces.
It further clarified that the Minister travelled alone on official duty to engage the Black Stars team and technical staff ahead of the friendly matches.
The statement stressed that no staff, delegation, or individuals were sponsored, facilitated, or upgraded for the trip by either the Minister or the Ministry.
Additionally, the Ministry emphasized that it has not committed any funds, either from its budget or through corporate sponsorship, toward the international friendlies. As such, no arrangements have been made to support fan travel or participation.
Reaffirming its stance, the Ministry said it is committed to transparency and prudent use of public resources, while cautioning the public against the spread of misinformation.
