Speaker of the Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has been elected as the new President of the African Parliamentarians’ Network Against Corruption (APNAC) during the Network’s 9th Biennial General Meeting held in Accra.
Assuming the prestigious role, Speaker Bagbin pledged to uphold the highest standards of integrity and to intensify efforts to combat corruption across the continent.

He described his election as both an honour and a responsibility to advance transparency and accountability within Africa’s legislative bodies.
In his acceptance speech, Speaker Bagbin extended heartfelt appreciation to the outgoing President and Board Members for their dedicated service.

He noted that their tenure had established a robust foundation for the Network, emphasizing that their leadership and collective wisdom would continue to inspire the work of the new administration.
The Speaker further advocated for collaboration among parliamentarians, urging members to unite in promoting ethical governance.
“Our collective effort is vital to strengthening parliaments, improving accountability, and building a continent where integrity is not just expected, but practiced consistently,” he said.

APNAC, which brings together legislators from across Africa, serves as a platform for parliamentarians to champion anti-corruption initiatives, promote good governance, and exchange best practices for legislative oversight.
